Where The Wild Things Are

Just got back from seeing it...

It was quite good. Very simple plot and all, but it worked. The puppets were amazing (even though the faces were partiallly CG, or so I hear).

Some parts were pretty scary, even kind of freaky for me (not scary for me, but freaky). I wouldn't suggest letting a little kid see it.

All in all I thought it was decent. I'm not raving over it, but it is definitely unique, and it was enjoyable.

Yeah, that's why I was wondering why they were making the movie in the first place off of a scary kids book.

But glad you liked it.

I find it amazing that they got an 1+ hour movie out of a 10 sentence book.

It's got a very complex plot for such a short book. Partly because so much of the book's story is told through the pictures rather than through words.

I have high hopes for the film. Not sure when I'll ever get time to see it.

Now that I've seen it, I can thoughtfully say it was very.... bizarre. Like it seemed like there was some very deep meaning teaching a lesson, but it was so deep it was hard to uncover. I loved it though. :3

The book kinda felt that way too, so yet another reason I'm hopeful. Probably one of the only childrens' books that I still can't glean any obvious meaning from it. There's something about imagination in there, but I'm not entirely sure what it is.

I didn't even notice it until afterwords when someone pointed it out, but each of the monsters was a facet of Max's own personality, and eventually he freaked himself out so bad (in a way) that he had to leave... hm...
