Bionicle: Year One - Characters, Levels, And Bosses

Sumiki

In B:Y1, levels will be accessed via the Kini-Nui menu. Each Toa will have separate levels, though the levels are somewhat like short episodes. Each will include Rahi enemies, and if it's viable, a boss-Rahi at the end.

Each Toa will have separate powers to start with. These include elemental powers (these do basically the same thing, though the effects are different) and their mask powers. Starting with one mask (their primary mask), they will gain more powers as they go through levels and find the masks hidden in those levels. Noble Masks will be hidden as well.

Each Toa has a "special ability", which will be accessed by pressing the same button for each character. There should be a limit on how much a Toa can use these - after all, we don't want them abused.

Master of Shadow Matoran has kindly supplied a WIP list. My notes are bracketed and bolded.

TAHU: Can walk on lava, and loses his Life Energy half as fast as the other characters. [i think surfing on lava might be better.]

KOPAKA: When he hits an enemy that isn't a boss, the enemy is stunned/frozen for three-to-five seconds.

LEWA: Can double-jump.

GALI: Can swim, and therefore cross water. [We probably should have this ability for anyone with a Kaukau, 'cept Pohatu. :P]

POHATU: Can go into a PowerRun-mode, which gives him the ability to escape from an enemy quickly.

ONUA: Can use his claws to smash or lift pieces of the environment.

If possible, it will automatically save progress at the end of each episode.

What should dO about the Huna? How about being able to confuse the Rahi and slows them fromattacking for a period of time

In my opinion, we´re overpowering the toa with all these masks. There´s no alternate solution, though, so what could we do? Just make the levels very difficult? :(

And I don´t really know about this idea. It´s okay, it just doesn´t seem really perfect for the Huna. Not that I´ve got any better ideas myself.

We restrict the use of those masks? Like if you got a Huna, you used it as a item. After the power is gone, the huna disappeared, and then you have to find more in future levels. I know it's not canon, but that's the only way I think can make the Toa not so OP.

I actually think I´d prefer the other option, then. It would be nice if it was all strictly canon. =\

I know, I´m very demanding. Sorry. :P

I actually don't like the idea as well. So you mean make it harder?

I´d say either that, or hide all the powerful masks really, really well.

Indeed. I guess you are right.

Btw, are we having all the same characteristics for all Toa?

Example:

Lewa

(In a range of 1~5)

Attack: 2

Defense: 2

Speed: 5

...etc?

We´d have to make sure how much a defense point is, how much a speed point is, etc., but I like the idea.

Also, we´d have to make similar statistics for the rahi/bosses.

Of course.

I am thinking about the count of damage: like, 1 point of attack is 100. Then Lewa has 2 points, so 200. Then, when he attacks a Rahi (say, a Nui-Kopen), its defense is 100. After subtracting, the rahi loses 100 points of HP.

How's that? Of course, all attacks, no matter the points, will cause some point of damage.

We'll have to make up for the powers by making the levels harder - plus, we might not want to include all Noble masks for all Toa. If memory serves, non of them got all of the Nobles.

THey Can't See themselves.

That´s a pretty neat solution, IMO. The player can´t see his own character, but if you get to close to a rahi, or if you start using any attacks or suchlike, the rahi will spot you, and attack you. No time limit. That´s not too overpowered, is it?

Even though I got a bad feeling that no one likes my suggestions, but being a idiotic person like I am, I shall post:

In order to make each Toa very different from each other, I think it'll be quite awesome to give them different physical characteristics:

In a range of 1~5. Note that this doesn't include factors such as Masks or special powers:

Attack as in the amount of damage a being can deliver

Defense as in the amount of damage that the Toa can intake unharmed.

Hitpoint as in the total amount of damage the Toa can intake until the Toa is dead.

Speed as in the amount of time a Toa needs to travel in a set distance.

(?)Agility as in the possibility if the Toa's foe will miss its attack.

Lewa

Attack: 3

Hitpoint: 2

Defense: 2

Speed: 4

Agility: 5

Onua

Attack: 4

Hitpoint: 5

Defense: 3

Speed: 2

Agility: 2

Pohatu

Attack: 3

Hitpoint: 4

Defense: 5

Speed: 2

Agility: 2

What do you guys think? If you guys like this, I'll continue.

What idiotic person have told you that you were an idiotic person? You´re not. An idiotic person would be someone who held back their brilliant opinions; it can never be considered an act of idiocy to suggest these. It can´t possibly do any harm, and if it works, it might be a major breakthrough in game development history. ;)

And I like these. If our programmers can overcome it (Sumiki?), I´d say go for it.

It should be easy, and gives more diversity in characters. And here is the rest:

Tahu

Attack: 4

Hitpoint: 3

Defense: 3

Speed: 3

Agility: 3

Kopaka:

Attack: 3

Hitpoint: 2

Defense: 3

Speed: 4

Agility: 4

Gali:

Attack:2

Hitpoint: 3

Defense: 3

Speed: 4

Agility: 4

Nice. Here´s my comments on these otherwise neat stats:

Tahu:

Attack: 4

Hitpoint: 3

Defense: 3

Speed: 3

Agility: 3

Kopaka:

Attack: 3

Hitpoint: 2 I´d say 3

Defense: 3

Speed: 4 I´d say 3

Agility: 4

Lewa:

Attack: 3

Hitpoint: 2

Defense: 2

Speed: 4

Agility: 5

Gali:

Attack:2

Hitpoint: 3

Defense: 3

Speed: 4

Agility: 4

Pohatu:

Attack: 3 I´d say 4

Hitpoint: 4

Defense: 5 I´d say 4

Speed: 2 I´d say 5 - Pohatu is the fastest of the toa, even without his Kakama ;)

Agility: 2 I´d say 3

Onua:

Attack: 4 I´d say 5

Hitpoint: 5

Defense: 3

Speed: 2

Agility: 2 I´d say 1 - to make the characters differ more from each other, one of them would get hit all the time; this could be Onua, who´s not very agile ;)

:)
