  1. Wait,Dudes 13- cant even read what Mr Greg Writes? Cuz if not,They can make it so Members under 13 can read the Forum but Cant Post in it.And doesnt the new law thing say that 13- cant contact him directly? If so they (By "they" I mean BZP Staff) can "hire" a bunch of members that are sure to be 13+ and pass the questions thru them. Just some of my Idias.

This was suggested before the board went down, and I am support it fully. However, as much as I would love for this to happen (and I, being 14, would help act as one of said messengers,) it was also said in the previous topic that this basically undermines the rule in the first place (which is somewhat silly IMO since Lego has always been based around young kids.)
I wouldn't say it undermines it at all. The policy is designed, probably, to make parents feel more secure about their children using Lego-based sites on the Internet. Internet safety is something a lot of parents are concerned about, and Lego has decided that having a fortysomething year old staff member chatting to under-thirteen year old kids is, um, not a good look, to say the least, regardless of what they are actually chatting about. Whereas, I think a lot of parents are more relaxed about children talking to other children and teenagers. By having a middleman, parents can rest assured that their child is not talking to a forty-five year old man. At least, not one employed by Lego. It's all about perception, see? And when Greg gets a PM from one of the "messengers", he may not even know who it was originally from, creating an even thicker barrier between him and the kids. I don't think the policy is something that is going to work effectively in practice (especially since half the ten year olds I know just lie their way onto social networking sites anyway), but I think it is important that Lego is trying to tackle these issues.
  2. This show isn't on in my area, so I've only been able to watch a few online clips. But I like what I've seen of it so far, and I really appreciate the influence it has had on the internet, and hopefully on the treatment of "girls' shows" in general. Lauren Faust is truly amazing . (I came across her "Galaxy Girls" site a few years ago, and I was a big fan of The Powerpuff Girls as a kid.)

  3. I'd begin by asking where everyone else who is working on the project with me is.

Well, let's say you're head of the story team, so you'd have access to a few writers, set designers and advertising people. You can approach comic publishers, animation studioes, web designers, musicians, etc. Or, if you like, you can say you're an animator/ director etc and talk about the appraoach you'd take in that situation.
  4. Scenario: It's the year 2021, and you've just been given the task of doing a "reboot" of the Bionicle franchise; essentially, a different continuity completely separate from the "G1" series. Naturally, you accept. Lego has basically handed you a copy of the old story bible and said "Here, use this as a guide, but you can make some changes if you like. Knock yourself out." Your budget for the first year is $20 million. How would you go about it? What media would you use to tell the story? Whereabouts in the storyline would you start? Would you make any alterations to the setting, characters, or plot? How would you maximise appeal to the target audience? (For that matter, what kind of audience would you be aiming for?) What would you do?

  5. The Great Beings being capable of building an entire synthetic ecosystem from scratch. Do they build one for the Agori, who are struggling to survive in a harsh desert environment? NO! They build one for a colony of seemingly non-sentient robots in a spaceship. Granted, that one's kind of a necessity for most of the story to take place, but still...

  6. Greg told me he can talk to people he "knows" to be over 13 via PM. I presume this is based mostly on the profiles, but his personal experience with certain members probably plays a role in it. He would probably be hesitant to reply to someone he doesn't know very well, or doesn't display a certain level of maturity in their posts.

  7. Most of us would remember LEGO's policy change a few months back, meaning that LEGO staff, such as GregF, are no longer allowed to talk with children under 13 online. Greg was therefore limited to talking with the over-thirteens by PM. The BZPower staff talked about possible solutions to this, such as having an area of the site that can only be accessed by over-thirteens, but as far as I can tell, nothing has happened yet. Does anyone know more about this than I do? Furthermore, how do you think this should be handled?

  8. It's probably fair to assume that humans canonically exist in the HF 'verse, so, it could happen. However, HF has more of a cheesy, "Saturday morning cartoon" vibe about it, so it's hard to imagine a movie being marketed to a wide audience.

  9. What I find hilarious about this series is that any ten year old boy who has read it can give you a detailed explanation of the characters, the plot, and how awesome it all is... ...without even once mentioning the word "fairy".

  10. Yes, you can, but the only possible parent that can have it is a gen 4 Dratini. Poison heal is a very good ability. What you do is run it with a Toxic Orb, Fling the orb at an opponent to poison them too, then spam Acrobatics, which has 110 base power (plus STAB) when you're not holding an item.

  11. The thing about stretch armstrong is they can slap on a star (I think they're using the guy from Twilight), and assure that hordes of fans will flock on over to the theater. You can't really do to much as far as stars go with a semi-expressionless animated robot.

What strikes me as really odd about Stretch is that, unlike Bionicle, the toy it's based on is completely outdated. I honestly don't think there is any market for a miniature Taylor Lautner made out of stretchy rubber these days. And if there is, I do not want to know who they are and what they intend to do with it. But, in all seriousness, while there may be some degree of brand recognition with 30-40 year old men, I don't think it has the nostalgia factor of being fondly remembered by them. As far as I know, there aren't many Stretch Armstrong fansites out there. While it's true that Lautner's casting may bring a few more teenage girls into the audience, I think teenage and young adult males (y'know, the demographic that action movies are generally aimed at), might actually get put off by his presence.
  12. Alyska, the old auto-resize appears to have gone away in this forum version; my blog now has a bunch of oversized images. Anyway, about that team you're showing ... why does Landorus have Protect twice? :P ~B~

Because you can NEVER have too much protection! ...eh. Fixed that. One of them is Earthquake. Have to be careful using it when your partner is Tyranitar, but that's where Air Balloon and Protect come in. Anywaaay, I need help evolving a Poliwhirl and Porygon. If anyone can do an evolution trade with me, I have a number of female Pokemon with Dream World abilities to give you in return.
  13. I suppose I may as well share my Subway doubles team. I even managed to beat Emmet with it once: Tyranitar @ Air BalloonAdamant natureSand Stream252HP/252Att/6 Spe-Protect-Earthquake-Rock Slide-Crunch Landorus@ Rock GemJolly NatureSand Force6HP/ 252 Att /252Spe-Protect-Rock Slide-Fly-Earthquake Excadrill@ Focus SashJolly natureSand Rush6HP/ 252Att/ 252Spe-Rock Slide-Earthquake-X-scissor-Protect Gyarados@ Lum Berry-Ice Fang-Protect-Aqua Tail-Earthquake Main strategy is to spam Quakeslide, but the common weaknesses means there is some prediction involved, especially with Tyranitar's Air Balloon/Excadrill's sash and Fakeout users. I think having Protect on everyone is a good strategy, as it's saved my backside quite a few times (especially when it comes to avoiding Ally earthquakes). Sometimes it just feels wrong that a team with three weaknesses to water does so well... but, hey, I'm not complaining.

  14. Whoa, a few formatting errors there. Edit: Never mind, you got them. Haha. Interesting thread though. I remember the old one, but didn't visit because I was worried that the subject matter of gender could turn out becoming sorta inflammatory. I'll keep my eye on this nonetheless. -ck

There's always that risk, but, really, it depends on the people discussing it. To use the row over "The Yesterday Quest" as an example, I think a lot of the conflict came from the fact that many people dropped into various topics just to say "Look, this isn't important! Quit your whining!", which, of course, upset the people who did care about the issue. I think not caring about certain issues is fair enough, but rubbing it in the faces of the people who do care is extremely rude. Whereas, most people don't visit this topic unless they actually do care about gender dynamics and issues. We may not always agree on everything, but I think we generally respect each other's opinions here.
  15. The forums were down for nearly six months. Greg only updated the serials once in that time, and it was a concluding chapter to boot. I would not be surprised if this is it for the serials.. But even if Greg doesn't continue the story, I wouldn't want BZPower to lose touch with him. I'd be interested to see some of his post-Bionicle work.

  16. Hi all! Welcome back. I couldn't find an "Official Bzpower Girls' corner V", so this can serve that purpose until it's back up. Here's the info from the front page of the last one:

Let's face it, folks, boys and girls are different. And that's a good thing. This topic is a place to post links and discussion by, about, and for the feminine side of Bionicle and BZPower. Boys and gentleToa are welcome to join in too, but please remember to wipe your muddy feet on the doormat. (Oh, sorry, that was sexist.)This is the fourth incarnation of the Girl's Corner tradition first established by the distinguished BZP member GaliGee. Some of you might be wondering "What happened to the BGCIII topic?" and "Where in the Mangaia is GaliGee?" Well, with RealLife increasingly encroaching on her online time, our beloved patron decided to step down from the duties of maintaining the topic, particularly the ever-growing submission list. Thus the topic has now been reborn once more under the govern of a group of dedicated BGCIII regulars."But didn't this use to be the Bionicle Girls' Corner?" and "Wasn't it in GD to begin with?" Due to a number of developments in the BGCIII topic, it was moved to CoT and had a name change to accommodate a more flexible discussion content. So here we are! biggrin.gifAt its heart, this is a topic intended for ...

    • [*]Discussion of Bionicle and the other various fictitious worlds of LEGO, particularly in relation to the female characters[*]Female BZPers (quite a minority here on BZP) to meet others of their kind and perhaps not be such a minority for once[*]Keeping track of the various artistic pieces submitted regarding female characters in Bionicle and other LEGO franchises (once again, quite a minority)[*]Meeting people, talking, and having fun, but with Bionicle- and LEGO-related discussion generally at the epicenter.

Here's hoping it's just as awesome as before!
  17. My favourite episode this season has to be "The Doctor's Wife", mostly for this exchange: Doc: She's the TARDIS... but she's also a woman... but she's the TARDIS... but she's a woman!Amy: Did you wish really, really hard?Doc: Shut up!TARDIS: Hello! I'm "Sexy"!Doc: ...Still shut up! EDIT: Also "Let's Kill Hitler", for leaving us in suspense about who's going to try and kill Hitler, then locking him in a closet and forgetting about him.
