  1. He uploads a virus into himself, and descends into robot madness.
It needs to be very noticeable and, what DV said, attention-grabbing. After all, he's trying to make the point that he is, despite what everyone else believes, alive, and what better way to show that than to willingly take it all away.
What if it breaks down one day while on the job, and gets made fun of by other people. Until some kind person who is a wealthy businessman shows up and takes pity on it. So he buys the robot from the previous owner, fixes him and makes him his honored servant/butler.
Not bad, but it wouldn't work under the circumstances of the story. You see, the robot works for the largest and most wealthiest corporation in the world, Promethean Dynamics. In fact, most of the workers for the company are robots. They're merely seen as nothing more than mindless automatons. Just tools. To make fun of one would be like making fun of a toaster because it only toasts one side of the bread. :PIt wouldn't be hard writing in a sympathetic person, but one richer than this massive multinational corporation? =/

Oh, ok. Now I understand. I wasn't familiar at all with Promethean Dynamics .

I come across different kinds sci-fi, somewhere in there is where the "make fun" part comes from.
