  1. Right now I'm sitting on something in the area of four (four and a half?) profiles, wondering if I can handle another character...I swear I have no idea where they all come from.
  2. IC--Kaboom--Halls Kaboom rubbed his chin, somewhat enjoying the psychological puzzle of attempting to win another's loyalty. "Not sure. Icarax is busy supervising the assignment. There's Palma at the infirmary, but that's not really her department. I'm not sure where Tridax is--and he's probably in a touchy mood anyway." He paused, considering their options. "Why don't I show you around while the assignment (hopefully) wraps up? Help you get your bearings. We can stop by the gym last thing to see if the carnage is died down ad the headmaster is free." IC--Nyarl--Dorm The unfamiliar task of infecting the Kanohi had been a significant drain on Nyarl, adding to the lingering weariness from his injury and the long journey to the village and back. Exhausted, he crawled back into his armor, deposited the freshly-infected masks in the cupboard, and lay down on the bed, making a mental note to visit the armory for a new weapon as soon as he woke up. Within seconds, he was asleep again.
  3. IC--Kaboom--Halls "Well, like I said, it was supposed to be a strategy thing. Finding members of some secret faction, I think. By the time I left, there were already a few students who were just attacking random people. And judging by the cacophony coming from the gym as we speak, it doesn't sound like things have improved."
  4. IC--Kaboom--Halls "It wasn't mandatory," he shrugged. Not technically, anyway. "And it's turned into less if a class and more of a free-for-all." IC--Footwork--Gym Footwork tried to hold on, to dig his fingers into the floor, to do anything--but he could barely gather up the will to twitch, much less do anything effective. Silently, the half-conscious Rahkshi slid off the ledge and into the pit.
  5. IC--Kaboom--Halls "Well, I guess most of them are at the gym. There was an assignment going on there--some sort of strategy exercise, from what I caught--but it was already devolving into chaos when I left."
  6. IC--Footwork--Gym "Was...copper...ahmn..." Footwork struggled to do anything at all, but he couldn't get his body to obey him. He was pretty sure he should feel a lot more concerned about that than he did, but he just couldn't summon up the energy for that much emotional investment. IC--Kaboom--Halls "Oh, not that I've ever seen. Icarax pretty much leaves it up to the new arrivals to find someone who's in a charitable mood. Lucky thing I happened to be passing through." Once he got to within arm's reach, he stuck out his hand. "The name's Kaboom. Stick with me, and you'll do alright."
  7. IC--Kaboom--Halls Intrigued by the sound of the front doors' distinctive creaking, Kaboom made a slight detour purely on the strength of a hunch. Standing in the entryway with a slightly bewildered expression that clearly marked him as a newcomer was an unfamiliar Rahkshi. At last, a stroke of luck! A disoriented new student, with little to no attachment to anything or anyone here. He would need help getting his bearings, and Kaboom needed to counter the hard fact that his enemies currently outnumbered his confirmed allies three-to-none. It was, he pondered as a sly grin crept across his faceplate, a good thing they had run into each other. As he approached the new student, he effortlessly transformed his grin into something far friendlier. "Hey, you look a little lost. Can I help you out?" OOC: Kaboom interacting with Augustus.
  8. IC--Kaboom --Infirmary/Halls He was feeling good as new again, but Kaboom still wasn't sure how to deal with that boney guy if he ever ran into him again. He supposed the library might be a good place to look for methods of fighting someone with a longer reach. Leaving the infirmary behind, he set off down the hallway, keeping a wary eye out for his nemesis. He wasn't going to run into that one again if he could help it.
  9. IC--Footwork--Gym "Well, I'm afraid I'm not much better off," Footwork answered, ignoring their enemy's comment. "I think we'll be as safe in the Karzing pit as anywhere else, but I figured I couldn't make the decision for both of--" Something painfully hot rammed into his back. It wasn't as molten as the crossbow bolts, but it impacted rather than drilling through. Footwork was suddenly flat on the ground again, wondering when it had gotten so hard to stay conscious. IC--Shrapnel--Gym After a moment of puzzled observation, Shrapnel realized that the Lerahk was doing the same thing she was: waiting for the enemy to slip up and make the first move. Well, if he wanted to play the waiting game, he'd find her an uncommonly patient player. She flexed her talons threateningly, but otherwise remained still. IC--Beat--Gym "Y'know, I could go for some of that myself," Beat grinned in reply. "We probably shouldn't fight each other if neither of us is an assassin, but I'm sick of waiting around. How about we just go for the first suspicious-looking person we see?" OOC: I'm not having any trouble understanding Rose, myself.
  10. IC--Footwork--Gym Footwork didn't bother trying to conceal his hatred as the other Rahkshi delivered her ultimatum. "I'll have to consult my associate," he snarled. Then, without looking away from his enemy, he raised his voice. "Are you okay down there?" he asked Snap.
  11. IC--Footwork--Gym Footwork had been prepared for the possibility that the mountainous Rahkshi might fire again, but he hadn't expected the level of calculation put into the shot. He desperately veered to the side, and the bolt seared a burning hole along his left side, along the bottom of his ribcage. With a cry of pain, he collapsed at the edge of the pit. "The Karz...is wrong with you two?" he groaned, trying to get to his feet without much success. "You'd better stop...trying to hurt my friend...or I'll..." He left the empty threat unfinished and concentrated on breathing steadily and not screaming. IC--Nyarl--Halls/Dorm Nyarl finally found a room, secured the door behind him, and sat down on the bed. Though still exhausted from the raid and his injury, he set about infecting his stolen masks before he allowed himself to sleep again.
  12. IC--Footwork--Gym At first Footwork thought the hulking one was on his side, seeing as he had taken out someone who seemed to be cozying up to their attacker. He was proved wrong when he became the next target. He dipped precariously, the dive carrying him down into the pit again, and only his dodge power saved him from taking the white-hot dart in his chest. It melted a painful furrow along his spines as it zipped above him. His first instinct was to pull Snap out, but that would leave him vulnerable for far too long. Instead, as their original assailant returned to deliver a finishing blow, he roared out of the pit, aiming to skewer her on his extended blades. IC--Shrapnel--Gym Karz. There was no way she was getting into the armory now, and she doubted the Lerahk was in any mood to be reasoned with. Shrapnel halted about two bio from the armory doors and adopted a ready stance, waiting for her enemy to make his move. IC--Beat--Gym "Ugh. You're telling me. I've been standing around twiddling my thumbs forever. Pretty sure I can actually feel my brain cells dying off." IC--Sepulchral--Gym Noting the massive ringleader's gesture, Sepulchral turned to devote the greater part of his attention to him and his new arrival. "I would have no objection to such an arrangement," he said simply.
  13. IC--Shrapnel--Gym Forewarned by her scanning of the area, Shrapnel managed to dive out from beneath the plummeting Lerahk. She resumed her zig-zagging run, keeping a sensor pointed at where her pursuer was landing. The armory was very close... IC--Footwork--Beat Footwork knew better than to jump this time. Instead, he flew across the pit, no longer bothering to conceal his rage as he aimed his foot additions toward the enemy's head. IC--Beat--Gym Karz, this was so freaking boring. Beat’s fingers tapped sporadically along the handle of her axe. At this point she was just looking for a fight; she didn't even care whether it was with an assassin as long as she got to hit something. She wanted to avoid the knots of fighting students, though--the preexisting chaos would give an assassin the perfect opportunity to take her out, and being in the pit would be even more boring than up here. After a moment, she spotted a weird, thorny - looking Rahk who didn't seem to be embroiled in anything and approached. "Hey," she asked hopefully as she drew near, "you an assassin?" A stupid question, but it seemed like she ought to ask before tearing into random people. IC--Nyarl--Halls Nyarl trudged down the hallway, looking for the dorms. OOC: Beat interacting with Rose.
  14. IC--Shrapnel--Gym As she scrambled to her feet, something splattered against her spine, and her stomach suddenly felt like it was trying to turn inside out. She managed to get her feet under her and continued retreating toward the gym, scanning in all directions to avoid being caught by surprise again.
  15. IC--Shrapnel--Gym Shrapnel managed to avoid the latest assault by simply falling backwards and allowing the Lerahk to fly over her. Painfully aware of how vulnerable this position made her, she began scrambling to her feet, clutching her cracked ribs with one hand as she did so. IC--Footwork--Gym Footwork couldn't remember ever truly wanting to kill someone before. His eyes narrowed and his fists clenched at his sides, but he managed to keep the homicidal edge out of his voice as he replied. "My friend is not an assassin. Even if Icarax hadn't forbidden lethal force, you would have no reason to kill her."
  16. IC--Shrapnel--Gym With no room to properly dodge, Shrapnel moved to take the kick in her ribs. It hurt like Karz, but it wasn't as debilitating as it would have been otherwise. Gritting her teeth, she grabbed at the enemy's extended leg to hold it still while she drove the claws of her other hand toward his knee. IC--Footwork--Gym Footwork quickly realized the folly of leaving the ground, especially since it completely negated his only advantage. He struggled to get I to flight mode, but the cyclone had him in its grip, bearing him toward the pit-- No. With a sudden surge of determination, Footwork drove his flopping limbs into place. For a moment, he was flying straight down toward the floor of the pit. Then he pulled up and landed, panting, on the far side. He really should have run away then, but the longer he kept this psycho busy, the more time Snap had to escape. "Is that...really...all you got?" he gasped.
  17. IC--Shrapnel--Gym She was still taking the occasional glance back as she ran, and before she was halfway to the armory she saw that the Lerahk was no longer where he had been. Shrapnel began to run in a zig-zag maneuver to avoid whatever he was surely cooking up, but was unprepared for him to land right next to her. With an undignified shriek, she drove both sets of claws toward his midsection. IC--Footwork--Gym Footwork darted to the side, avoiding the worst of the blast. The outer edge caught his side, but he simply spun in place and remained upright. "So," he sneered, channeling more venom into his voice than he would have thought possible, "you must be deaf as well as stupid. Perhaps you'll understand something more direct." Not stopping to think about how bad an idea this was, he leapt into the air, aiming to come down on their assailant blades-first.
  18. IC--Footwork--Gym The blast of wind caught Footwork and sent him tumbling backwards. Frantically, he extended both blades and dug them into the gym floor. "But I'm not finished!" he roared, scrambling unsteadily to his feet. "What sort of perverse experiments did your Makuta perform on you to spawn such a blithering moron? Or is he just as stupid as you?" IC--Shrapnel--Gym Shrapnel leapt backwards as something darted through the air with a deadly metallic glint. One buried itself in the floor, the other managed to gouge her foot before skittering off the reinforced armor. This was an untenable situation. He was better armed, murderously angry, and there was no way for her to turn the surroundings to her advantage with Icarax having forbidden it. Gritting her teeth, she turned before the Lerahk could get off another shot and raced for the armory.
  19. Well,Shrapnel doesn't really know the difference; she'd just think of them as swords with chains on the ends. (Totally 100% deliberate on my part, yup ) And I figured that dodging the first part would abort the rest of the sequence as Toxin reacted to her maneuver. Once she rolled to the side, he wouldn't just keep attacking thin air. I'll just assume he turned to follow her and edit the rest in.
  20. IC--Footwork--Gym Footwork's mind raced, searching for some way out, but there was really no way to convince this paranoid brakas that they weren't what she thought they were. At least one of them could probably get out safely, though, if the other distracted their assailant. He paused for a moment, reflecting on how far he was sticking his neck out for a girl he barely knew, and how much this was probably going to hurt. Then he stepped between the two women, his hands clasped loosely behind his back. "The only thing we're hiding is our amazement at your all-consuming idiocy, you fat-headed mongrel!" he spat. His back was to Snap as he spoke, so only she could see him gesturing toward the armory door. Hopefully she would get the message.
  21. IC--Footwork--Gym "Right," Footwork replied. Then he continued, bringing his voice back up closer to its normal volume. "I really think we're going to need better weapons, though. I'm sure there's something in there we can use." He turned and began walking unhurriedly but purposefully toward the armory, trusting Snap to follow. IC--Nyarl--Causeway That seemed to be that. Nothing new was happening here, the remaining students were just milling around and staring at the body like a herd of Mukau. Nyarl turned and slunk toward the entrance to the school. IC--Kaboom--Infirmary Kaboom was more-or-less healed up, but he was still weak, and lost in thought besides. He took to fiddling with the knobs on the hilt of his chute blade, which seemed to change its density. That could be handy (and he offhandedly wondered why he hadn't noticed it before), but it wouldn't be enough if that bony nutcase decided to come after him again. He sat, uncharacteristically silent, and continued turning the problem over and over in his mind.
  22. IC--Shrapnel--Gym As the enraged Lerahk lunged again, Shrapnel dove to her left into a desperate roll. The hilts of his swords grazed her spine, but she still managed to stagger upright, frantically shaking her arm to get rid of the slime before it seeped through her extra armor. She wasn't quite successful, and grimaced as a fresh wave of nausea assaulted her senses. This wasn't working; she needed some way to keep him at a distance. IC--Sepulchral--Gym "But he is aware that someone is watching him now," Sepulchral muttered in reaction to Draco's justification, "so even if he is an assassin, he is unlikely now to take any action that would give him away."
  23. All right! Congratulations on getting this approved. PC conceptualization mode ENGAGED.
  24. IC--Shrapnel--Gym Well, that certainly touched a nerve. Shrapnel caught one blade on her forearm again, but failed to completely dodge the other, wincing as it gouged a furrow across her ribcage. With a snarl of rage and pain, she drove the claws of her free hand toward her enemy's face.
  25. IC--Shrapnel--Gym This time, Shrapnel managed to duck the nauseating globule, even as she brought her armored forearms up to catch the incoming blades. "Any chance you had of convincing me flew out the window the moment you tried to sell me that stupid story. Either you're the assassin, or you're protecting him. And whichever it is," she snarled, aiming a reinforced kick at his ribs, "you've got to go." IC--Nyarl--Causeway "Why is any dumb beast the way it is? You may as well ask why the suns rise in the morning."
