  1. I'm alive still, just not usually around here. I guess I've drifted onto other things?

  2. Hoo boy! What's it been, a year? Well, in any case. Guess who finally updated the topic from Ye Merry Ole Majhost Crash? The panels are back in action for you who might want to reread this heap of shenanigans. However, I didn't salvage the Secret Comics... this time. And who knows? Maybe I'll start up with this again. We'll see. Send me some ideas if you want - But make sure it's actually after they get to Ga-Koro. I've got something in mind if I ever get them there, to open the gate. If I revitalize the topic? Mind that it'll probably be a lot more relaxed and silly. How is that possible, for something like this..? ...I'unno. Guess I've mellowed out or something. Have fun.
  3. It's been awhile, hasn't it? I'm still incredibly amused by and enjoying how you portray Leraku. It's just wonderful. Great work.
  4. First time I've moseyed over to the Comedy section in awhile, and I have to admit, you certainly delivered. Nice job! 4.75 <Ratings Systems> out of 5, would pun again.
  5. I've glanced back here after a couple of months, and I have to admit I've been thoroughly entertained by everything going on here, especially the dedication to his job Leraku's got going for him. Loved the boomerang, and the hilariously casual 'blocking a gatling cannon with a dagger' shenanigans. Great job as usual, Soran. I really ought to get back into making comics at some point. Keep up the good work!
  6. Godspeed, old friend. You've made an imprint here on us, and I don't think that'll be changing. Good day, ye of thine classic morbid humor!
  7. COMMAND: BY POPULAR REQUEST Plot:Advance. And now, to our intrepid pilot. WHAT IS THIS WHY AM I HERE AM NOT GOOD AT BOAT. --- What will you do? --- Hffffft. How many months has this been? For two panels? Yeah. I just... have not felt like doing this at all. For some reason, this comic stopped being fun and felt more like an obligation. So at this point, this comic will be back to the 'as-I-feel-like-it' basis. The once-a-week schedule completely fell away for a variety of reasons. It's possible I might make another comic here on BZP - sort of like a typical 'studio' comic, but with... twists. Hopefully things will go well, either way. Even so? Feel free to add more ACs for me to use when I decide to make comics for CR!
  8. [Takua]: The burnt, mutilated forest looks delighting. Go there. Takua: Determine as to why the Charred Forest is the Charred Forest. Well... it's, uh. It's pretty charred. And burnt. Though you found this guy. He's... he's pretty slow. Are you the Makuta? ----- Maku: Lasso Takua with some impromptu kelp. I don't even know if you can call kelp impromptu, but whatever. Maku: Promise Takua that this quest actually gives decent exp. She says her quest gives good EXP and gets you all the skill points. You're not sure what either of those things are, but they sound important! ----- What will you do? --- WHEE SECRETS
  9. So I'll be gone until about the 30th due to the annual family camping trip. Meaning no comics, or likely work on comics, until then. I have the script planned out for the next one, I've finished half of the necessary images. However, due to packing, I just haven't had time to finish... this! Enjoy your teaser, ladies and gents.
  10. Why is it that whenever I start to do really well on a comic series, life always gets in my face and keeps me down? I've been so busy with planning things, trips, housework, curriculum issues, and overall work that I've been extremely drained of a creative drive. I feel really bad about this, everyone - sincerely I do. I apologize for letting you down, but I'm going to get the next post up as soon as I can. Already got it scripted out, and I should be incorporating some of my favorite ACs for this round. Hopefully it should be entertaining, but for now I need to kind of get my life train back on the rails so I can get back to this. So, yeah! Feel free to give your ten cents as to the situation, encouragement, discussion, whatever. No more ACs are needed for now, but I sincerely appreciate how many have come in since my last OOC post. Thank you so much to everyone who's stuck along with this comic so far. Only four pages and we've already had quite a journey! I hope that we can get right back in the swing of things very soon. Sincerely... well, me. Were you expecting someone else?
  11. Takua: Punch Aukat. Aukat: Punch Takua back. Aukat is still intangible. He also doesn't seem to be very aggressive at all. Maku: Slap them both. Aukat is still intangible. Takua, however, has been successfully slapped. You feel strangely satisfied. Maku: Explain your dilemma. You explain that your village needs help. It was attacked by a monster, and everyone got trapped in a hut that fell beneath the waters. You say you should be able to get there quickly using your boat, but you'll need help. OH HEY LOOK THERE'S A THING LET'S GO OVER THERE WAIT WHAT You walk away from that strange chattery girl talking about some sort of floating water village. Pffft, like that could ever happen. Water doesn't float! You saw some rocky stuff over by where that guy you threw sand at was earlier. Which guy? The shadowy guy. What do you mean, 'which shadowy guy'? The guy that was - You're just going to stop explaining things before your head starts to hurt. Ow. Already is. --- What will you do? --- Wow! Finally got this done, with all these panels. Anyways! I'm going to /try/ to pull off a weekly comic. Hopefully sometime on the weekends. I would have had this done last Sunday, but all sorts of life stuff was thrown at me. I'm going to do my best to stick with this schedule, but I'm only human. I fiddled a bit with how Aukat looks mid-comic to test things... I think he'll look much better now, but due to how I accidentally saved it I couldn't edit out his head-light on the first couple of panels.
  12. Takua: Be awesome. Aukat: Be awesome with Takua. Maku: Drink a Pina Colada. YES. YEEESSS. Okay, done. Now what? ------- I just had to.
  13. ...Huh. Another one of my comics seems to have made it on the front page. ...WAIT I'M ON THE FRONT PAGE AGAIN WHO WHAT NOW HOW IS THIS EVEN I'D LIKE TO THANK - *shot* ----- Takua: Offer your new friend some sand. You try to feed your friend the fantastic sedimentary delicacy that is sand. However, Aukat is a shadow, meaning he is (inconsistently) intangible. Aukat cannot eat the sand. This saddens you greatly. Aukat and Takua: Do a dance! HOWEVER, YOU ARE NO LONGER SADDENED AS YOU NOW BOTH ENGAGE IN A MERRY JIG. THE MERRIEST OF JIGS! What will you do? ----- Goodness gracious, front page again! I'm surprised I've done this well at all. Thank you, everyone, for supporting this comic. Thank you, especially, Windrider, for always being willing to help out when questions or support relevant to the comics forums were required. Also, sorry if the Vee images up there are a bit big! I may have accidentally miscalculated the sizes necessary. If it really is a problem, I can go through the hassle of resizing them, but, if it's okay, I'd rather them stay as is. I'm fine with changing them if I have to, though. QUESTION TIME! Yes. All of my comics are made entirely in GIMP, including the .GIF panels. I used to use Microsoft GIF Animator, but it had horrendous quality and was very bare-bones, restricting me - especially in quality. Unfortunately, by the time I saw this I had already finished the dancing panel. I hope the merry jig will suffice!
  14. Good to see you getting back into things, Ptol. I'm curious to see how this goes - the comics so far are interesting, and as usual filled with your amusingly morbid sense of humor. Here's to plenty more comics coming our way - Good luck!
  15. Takua: EAT THE SAND! OM NOM NOM NOM Takua: Detach your shadow, preferably while not yelling "Shadow Clone jutsu!!", and hope that your new clone won't get his head stuck in the sand quite so often. Done. Now your shadow is (probably) permanently detached from your body. He doesn't talk much. You think his name is Aukat. He's pretty cool, you guess. What will you do?
  16. So. We haven't really had many updates here. Mainly because this is a community-driven comic without community input. I appreciate that a few people have left ACs here and there, but, honestly, it doesn't give me much to work with. Look at some of the earlier comics and see how crazy some stuff got. But aside from that, I'm not getting much input. I know how the story goes. But I don't have any drive to keep it going if the community-driven comic doesn't have any participators. I understand that some of you absolutely love this comic, but it's just not going to work out if we don't have enough people dropping by. I sincerely apologize for my past procrastination, but I /have/ been wanting to make comics recently. I just don't have much drive, or much input to work with, since very few people are even posting. You guys are literally the ones running things - All the silly shenanigans that can go on are up to you. I'm only the facilitator, the artist. I'm the writer in only the loosest sense. So. I'm going to leave this here for a little while, see who notices, see who posts ACs. I may cancel the comic if it seems like people just genuinely aren't interested in this anymore. Then I'll go back to the drawing board, see if I can think up anything more, and you might see some things from me again. But for now? The livelihood of this comic is all up to you. If you want it to stay? Post some ACs. If you're not interested... well, don't bother, I suppose. But don't just get lazy and not bother posting, because that's why things have been slow. I've been waiting for input. It's just one little post. And it's up to you now.
  17. Takua: Chase a - You don't know what butterflies are, but you tried to chase them. You couldn't do anything else because you seem to have tripped and gotten your face buried in the sand. Again. You seem to end up with your head in the sand quite a lot. What will you do? --- More light tests. Reason for the delay? One, procrastination. Two, that I got one AC. One. This is driven on community input, so if you think of anything, send it in.
  18. -What do you mean, 'edit' the sun? Editing the image. You have to do much more work to figure out the lighting in these back lit images. It is the same for front lit panels. You have to put forward more effort with regards to core lighting and shading in such panels than in others, which is why some authors find midday and midnight panels easier to produce than morning and dusk. You did, however, do an excellent job with the core shading in this one. I'm merely giving you advise regarding where your light source is, and warning you what to expect when it comes to Vakama's talk with Takua (or any panel with Vakama, really If you allow this to happen I cannot be held responsible for what happens to you). That's actually fairly accurate, the Vakama bit. It's a dark room with a fire behind him. Given the lighting being behind him, his front would be harder to see and shadowed, with light around the edges. I'd try to sharpen it up and make it look better than that, but it's still lighting-accurate. As for the 'more effort' part, I'm willing to put forth that effort. I'm wanting to improve in my lighting, and the best way to learn is by doing it. It's really not that hard for me to figure out the lighting - that's more of a personal editing 'difficulty' to bring up, it doesn't apply to everyone, but thank you for bringing it to my attention. For long-winded discussions like this, I suggest we take it to PM from here on rather than clog the topic. Thank you.
  19. -What do you mean, 'edit' the sun? -I didn't blur the BG at all. That's how it came out. The only things I blurred were the gulls in the background, for perspective. -Shadows are a development process. I'm still not the best at backgrounds either. Lighting is something I'm working and improving on over time, hence the experimental 'shadow trail' leading to the shadow on the ground. -Furthermore, I had to rebuild my entire collection of brushes. I couldn't achieve the same effects as before. Thank you for the critique.
  20. Maku: Wonder why you think your name is Macku Macku: Hug your Huki plushie and cry because you're sad about having your elder and all your friends trapped at the bottom of an ocean Macku:Dramatically play dead to catch the colorful matoran's attention Macku: Yell meaninglessly for Nokama and Gali Okay, well. Sheesh. Maku, then. People just keep mispronouncing your name as Mah-Koo, so you got sick of it. Guess we've gotta be all grammatically correct here. As for your painstakingly hand-made with your love, sweat and tears plushie... It's currently in your wrecked hut. It's probably soaked which is okay because you made it waterproof for secret cuddling when you're hidden underwater which is... slightly bothersome. You don't have it. The monster attacked before you could grab it, and you had to flee. Playing dead? Being afraid and screaming? Karz no. You're no wimpy damsel in distress. You just need some help to check things out whilst you look for Gali. But this... colorful weirdo? Ugh. You suppose you have no choice. ------- What will you do? ------- Had to recollect my gimp brush collection manually, but it seems to be fixed.
  21. If the refresh button on the brush dialog window is what you mean by 're-scan, then yes, I have done this. Several times.
  22. I've got some bad news. First things first, to explain my delay. I've recently gotten a new computer, and I've been working on things now that I can do them again, and I keep getting distracted from making comics. Second of all, technical issues. GIMP won't load my brushes correctly, so I can't work with a lot of my backgrounds since I don't have the brushes. I have some brushes - but now, any new ones I try to install won't show up. I install them to the right folder, I refresh, even restart GIMP. I'm currently using Gimp 2.8 on a Windows 8 computer. Any help with this? I extract files to C / Users / <my user> / .gimp-2.8 / brushes, which Gimp in its settings says is the brushes folder. However, it will not load any more brushes when I install them, and I'm still missing quite a few crucial ones.
  23. I've been trying to read this with some consistency for quite awhile now. Some parts I lost track, other parts meshed together, but all in all it's been a fantastic journey, and I thank you for providing so much entertainment for us all, Gavla. It will be saddening to see this series go, but I believe it has been and will be continue to known as one of the greatest comic series on BZPower, at least in my opinion. Great work.
  24. All that sounds well and good, you guys. Really, it does. But you can't. You're too busy being this girl. Your name is Macku. You've been standing on this beach for about an hour or two now. You lose track of time easily, because your thoughts often wander to a particular person. You've been looking for someone to help your village, which has recently been attacked by rampaging beasts. As far as you know, you are the only escapee. You landed your boat near Ta-Wahi to look for someone to help, but so far there's only been some random colorful-looking guy running around on the beach acting overall very strangely. He went past you once, and you tried to get his attention, but he seemed kind of... spaced out. He's pretty weird. What will you do? --- SPRITING MNOG BOATS IS HARD. This is the main reason I've been taking so long on this update. Still only slowly getting better at making props. Still haven't detailed the darned thing. If anyone wants to give detailing it a shot, feel free. PM it to me later if you do. Also, whee, more lighting development (for instance, I forgot to lower the opacity on Macku's ground shadow), and I accidentally applied interpolation on the zoom-in, so that's why the first panel is blurry.
