  1. IC: Zakaro (Lower Hallways) Zakaro was enjoying himself. Sure, there had been some bumps, but overall he was enjoying things. He let himself drop back to the tail of the group, noting who he knew and who he didn't. Artorre he probably knew the best, with Lekona and Olari just behind. He couldn't say that he really knew Elittra, though she did seem vaguely familiar. Perhaps they had been in the tournament together, or maybe he had just seen one of her battles in the Knowledge Sector. Increasing his pace once more to rejoin the majority of the group, Zakaro happened to hear Olari's latest question and tossed in his two cents. "I can say that I haven't particularly heard of such an occurrence," the purple-masked Toa said, "Though it's certainly possible that it's happened when I wasn't around and the staff just hushed it up. At the very least, though, there's a trend that those who find Gems and generally help the staff are more likely to return home." He didn't think it would be prudent to mention that trend didn't include the fighters who died, or rather 'went missing,' while on a Gem hunt.
  2. OOC: Since we seem to all be standing around waiting for someone to do something, let's get the ball rolling. IC: Zakaro (Hallways) After glancing down either side of the hall without finding any tunnels, Zakaro went back up the stairs and returned to the group, speaking aloud and looking around at each of them. "Alright, has Lekona made it back with Elittra yet or is that the reason for our hold-up here?"
  3. IC: Zakaro (Food Court -> Hallways) "Yes," Zakaro answered bluntly, not showing his shock at having been surprised. He resisted the urge to spin around and punch Daltrahk, because although he wasn't as bad as a traitorous backstabber, the Onu-Toa's fight with the Skakdi was... not enjoyable and far too memorable, in Zakaro's humble opinion. As Lekona left, Zakaro took the point on the group, stepping forward to glance down the halls, looking for an entrance into the tunnels.
  4. IC: Zakaro (Food Court) The Onu-Toa grins at his companions and cracks his knuckles, not speaking but clearly up for the challenge. The crisis had been adverted, it was time for adventure! He also accidentally ignored Daltrahk. The Skakdi happened to come up behind him and hadn't said anything, so Zakaro didn't notice him. He's not a Psionics user, he can't hear silent anger. Zakaro
  5. IC: Zakaro (Food Court) The Onu-Toa chuckles in response, touching his stinging cheek and smiling at the other Toa. "If there is another time, sister, and I do happen to misplace my hands in the rush of combat, you have full permission to slap me again. I shall do my best to keep that from happening." His mood somehow considerably lighter, Zakaro glanced over to the continuing scramble over the Dodge Gem and calls out. "Need any help, or would I just make things worse?"
  6. IC: Zakaro (Food Court) That did not work, Zakaro noted. Perhaps a different angle... The Onu-Toa set Olari down and stepped to the side quickly, getting out of the way of whatever attack she threw herself into next. While he did so, he spoke again, appealing to a different side of things. "Why not let those who brought you here deal with it? If it's their fault they brought the thing here, let them deal with the consequences of such and simply protect the innocent now."
  7. IC: Zakaro (Food Court) Zakaro might have been annoyed, but that didn't stop him from nearly bursting into action as the roof suddenly caved in. While everyone else seemed to scramble around after a Gem (he wasn't too worried about it, Lekona and Artorre seemed to be on the job), the purple-masked warrior had chosen to quickly make sure that none of the shopkeepers were hurt and things weren't all that damaged. Slightly insane and combat-loving he may be, but Zakaro was still a Toa and not an evil one at that. However, when Olari shouted in what sounded like sheer anger, Zakaro reacted. Quickly seeing that she was crushing a Bohrok into the floor, and that the Bohrok was both flame-colored and raising its hand at Olari, Zakaro sprinted forward. As the floor beneath Olari's feet began to heat up, the Onu-Toa stooped down and tried to grab Olari around the waist, lifting her up easily with the help of his mask, and continued backwards, trying to bring her out of the danger zone. He spoke as well, trying to calm her and perhaps return logic to an angry mind. "This is not the place to let grudges take over! Yes, we have an Infinite Gem on the loose, but that isn't a reason to let anger control your actions!"
  8. IC: Zakaro (Food Court) Though the Onu-Toa remained silent, he did stop his exit and slowly return to the table, standing just behind his seat. As Artorre brought up the subject of Infinity Gems, he spoke with a crisp, cool tone that did not scorn anyone, yet remained aloof enough. "I would not be opposed," he said, and sank back into silence, just watching the other Toa and the continuing confrontation with the Host. Zakaro
  9. IC: Zakaro (Table, Commercial Sector) "Perhaps," came the Onu-Toa's answer, as Zakaro turned to glance at the newcomer. "I cannot claim to know the inner workings of our hosts' minds, but I can say from experience that those who try to make a scene do not last long, and those who try to make an escape are never heard from again. Perhaps they made it out. Perhaps they died in the tunnels. I do not know, nor care." He stands suddenly, pushing in his chair and giving one last comment, sarcasm almost dripping from his voice. "I am going to my room. If you wish to talk about something other than how evil the people who brought us here are and how horrid this tournament is, feel free to visit. Otherwise, do keep your opinions to yourself. I have made up my mind about the Bionifight." And the purple-masked fighter walks towards the door, clearly annoyed.
  10. IC: Zakaro (Commercial Sector, Food Court) For once as the Onu-Toa spoke there was no cheer, just a cool statement of the facts. "As much as action is often better than inaction, there is rarely any innocent here. It was evident enough that Matoran was not in his right mind, and seemed to worship something less than good. I haven't ever heard of a good priest carrying around a dagger, let alone an obsidian one. Let me put it to you bluntly, fellows. If you truly care for those you have left behind, then do not anger those who brought us here. If you do, you may not live to return."
  11. IC: Zakaro (Food Court, Table) Finishing his bite, Zakaro spoke. "I can't personally say that I've had anything as interesting as you fellows, at least not in the homelands. I hail from a small island out in the middle of nowhere with too many rules and too few ways to relax, with the main source of entertainment being to find some new vein of pure protodermis to mine. I can honestly say my times in the Bionifight have been among the best..." He trails off, looking over Olari's shoulder at Phazur, the Host, and the Enforcer. His voice drops to a whisper. "Oh, dear. You're about to witness what happens when people don't just allow themselves to go along with things.."
  12. IC: Zakaro (Table, Commercial Sector/Food Court) The purple-masked warrior had been chewing when Artorre's question first came up, and now that people were responding he wasn't about to interrupt. Taking a slice of the cake, he quietly began to munch on that as well, watching Lekona and Artorre for their own answers. Zakaro
  13. IC: Zakaro (Commercial Sector) With his position and able to survey a majority of the room, Zakaro had watched with growing amusement as Artorre seemed to lose himself in the enormity of the Food Court. As the Ta-Toa finally approached and set down his numerous dishes, Zakaro chuckled at the scene before helping to steady the plates while reaching out his own arm to clank fists. "Friend, perhaps, but at the least a fellow spirit," The Onu-Toa replied, moving his fist to greet Lekona's. "Zakaro's what I answer to, though I've also been called 'Insane for Enjoying This' and 'Earthen Idiot'. Then again, the people who call me that aren't around to continue doing so," he said, grinning at his little joke of sorts.
  14. OOC: I have never been so glad to be on a computer as I have now, it feels great... Never know what you'll miss until it's gone. IC: Zakaro (Commercial Sector) The Toa of Earth walked into the Commercial Sector, taking in the sights and smells for a minute. Nothing was better after a fight than a good, hot meal, and this place was perhaps one of the best to get it. Stepping past a Rahkshi who seemed to be shouting, or maybe calling out- Zakaro couldn't really understand it/her/him- he continued forward to order a Kane-Ra steak, with extra sauce and a side of Bula yogurt. A hearty enough meal, and one of his favorites, especially after a colder battle like this one. Upon receiving his meal, the Onu-Toa took his time and scanned the area, looking for that Fire Toa he had fought. With a negative result, he took a seat at an empty table somewhat between both stairwells, allowing him to casually watch both and the entrances for the arrival of his opponent. Perhaps comrade was a better word? Fellow spirit, moreso. Yes, that was the word for it, a fellow spirit who could actually appreciate the tournament.
  15. IC: Zakaro (Mt. Ihu -> Locker Room/Medbay) Zakaro was just about to send a wide-area shockwave when everything froze. Well, moreso all the combantants froze in place, but the mountain was constantly frozen. The only thing moving was the wind. The Host annouced the winner, some Vagust guy, and everything faded to black. Zakaro hadn't won, unsurprisingly. He only took out one person, and certianly wasn't the last man standing. That was okay. He had fun, and wasn't that what mattered? As he came to, Zakaro sat up and quickly checked his armor, confirming that whatever it was that revived and healed people and yet again done its job perfectly. Yes, his shoulder armor was quite unmelted, his mask totally back to normal and not flickering with damage, and even the scratches on his neck from that strange Skakdi was gone. With a grin, the stocky Toa stood up and stretched, cracking his knuckles. Not the worst return to the arena he'd faced, but certainly not the best. He was quite out of practice, that would need to change. But first, a trip to the mess hall for food and meeting that Ta-Toa was very much needed. Perhaps that would be his next carving... Lost in thought, Zakaro wandered out of the Medbay.
  16. IC: Zakaro (Mt. Ihu, battle with Artorre, Donrioda, and Zephyr) The Toa of Earth was almost as surprised as Artorre when the lightning bolt came out of nowhere, and he inwardly cursed at not paying enough attention to his surroundings. "Why not!" Came Zakaro's reply, shouted over the wind as he turned for the other of the two incomers. Yes, there were two, he noticed, even as a majority of Zephyr's seeds impacted and fell into bits and gaps in his armor. Alright, whatever had just happened, it was probably a time-delayed attack, which meant Zakaro wouldn't have much time to act. He took a few strides towards the battle between the Toa of Fire and Toa of Electricty before suddenly pivoting on his heel and stomping the ground, sending a rumbling shockwave towards Zephyr's position.
  17. OOC: Whoops, no slight meant. To be honest, I was thinking of capitalizing that and probably should have, to more indicate the power of Strength vs. normal strength. Oh well. What's done is done. IC: Zakaro (Mt. Ihu, fighting Artorre) "Why not? It'll be nice to have someone who actually might enjoy this tournament to talk to for a change." His reply came with a grin as the purple-masked warrior slipped to a side, bringing a hand up. While this had the side effect of slicing a groove into a few of the fingers on his hand, the earth pillar that rose behind it would hopefully trap the sword for long enough to change hands. As the broadsword completed its arc, Zakaro stepped forward and sent a knee towards Artorre's grasp on the handle of the weapon, intending to either squash his fingers or force the other Toa to let go. While that happened, Zakaro brought up an elbow to either block an opposing attack or hit some part of an arm. He wasn't yet sure which he would do, that action would be in response to one of Artorre's. Assuming those people that the dueling duo didn't notice just sat there and didn't interfere.
  18. IC: Zakaro (fighting Artorre, Mt. Ihu) With the combination of Artorre's inexperience and lack of strength, it was simple enough to back up a step in response to the first swing as the Toa of Earth replied. "Sometimes, sure, but eventually it's just one of those things where it just activates when needed, without much direct thought.." He trails off as he hops to a side to dodge another blow, but exhausted as he was, a glint of excitement still shone in his eyes. With a flick of his fingers, a shower of dry, crumbling dirt and dust forms from the air and flies at Artorre's eyes as the purple-masked Toa darts closer. One hand tries to smack the flat edge of the broadsword, in order to stop any major attacks for the half a second more it takes to deliver a punch aimed at the jaw, traveling horizontally so that just jerking back wouldn't be enough to evade contact. All during his the Pakari flickers, seeming almost upset at the continued usage even with the damage.
  19. IC: Zakaro (Mt. Ihu, fighting with Artorre) There was only one problem with Artorre's plan, and that could be summed up as the fact that Zakaro's broadsword was really heavy, more akin to the weight of a warhammer or battleaxe than simple broadsword. At the very least the Ta Toa would be surprised and off balance, perhaps even unable to lift the weapon with only one hand. It was evident that Zakaro made constant, low-powered use of his mask to handle the dense blade as easily as he did, and that alone would give the Onu Toa a slight opportunity. As his opponent reacted to the weight of the sword, in whatever sense, Zakaro clapped his hands, sending the earthen wall collapsing on both itself and Artorre. As his opponent dealt with that, Zakaro quickly cooled himself down with a few handfuls of snow, though his chipped Pakari was concerning. OCC: I do apologize for negating much of your post, but the density of Zak's weapon is something that would have a significant impact on picking it up and using it.
  20. IC: Zakaro (Mt. Ihu, fighting Artorre) More flame. It wasn't surprisng, but annoying nonetheless. Perhaps annoying wasn't the best word, painful, moreso. Gritting his teeth and letting out a yell of pain and yet determination, Zakaro pulled back a slight amount and then drove a punch towards Artorre's ribs, mask flickering with energy even as it began to degrade. After that last full-powered punch, Zakaro let go with his other hand and attempted to half shove, half slam Artorre into the wall while Zakaro ducked down, back, and to Artorre's right, trying to escape the constant flames.
  21. IC: Zakaro (Mt. Ihu, fighting Artorre) The situation Zakaro was in didn't leave much room for movement. The best he could dp was to awkwardly lean to the right, hissing as Artorre's burning blade sizzled across the top of his mask and head, cutting and cauterizing the wound in one motion. Barely noticing the buzzing of something or another, Zakaro lunged forward, letting go of his sword in favor of trying to enclose Artorre is his arms, the move helped by the fact that the Onu Toa already had his left arm behind the Ta Toa, allowing the purple-masked warrior to bring it to smack into Artorre's back, Pakari glowing as it gave Zakaro the ability to bring new meaning to suffocating bear hugs.
  22. IC: Zakaro (Mt. Ihu, fighting Artorre) The Onu Toa laughs his reply, stepping backwards to ward off the worst of the flames so he could speak and unlocking his blade. "I like it, Flame-Slicer! You seem to understand the thrill of battle as much as I do, and for that you have my respect!" With another grin he stomps forward again, an earthen wall rising up in a semi circle around Artorre as Zakaro slashed upwards, mask glowing with energy. Even as he does so, the purple-masked Toa takes a chance and removes his left hand from the handle of the broadsword, swinging around to try and land a blow on Artorre if he raises his flaming sword to block this attack as well.
  23. Tahu, Tahu, and Tahu ponder why Bionicle constantly forces their greatest beings into comas. Meanwhile, Vezon wonders why he can't ever take a nap.
  24. IC: Zakaro (Mt. Ihu, fighting Artorre) As the other Toa's blade came down towards Zakaro, he figured that the best thing to do would probably be to keep rolling. Then he decided to do the exact opposite and so instead of continuing to roll to the left, he slammed his right fist against the ground and flipped back in the opposite direction, making a full revolution in the air before landing and rolling forwards, ending up roughly a side step away from where he had first fallen forward, and with his back turned. Without a pause, the Onu Toa spun around to face Artorre again, grinning and slashing at the same time. "You're not half bad, Flame-Slicer!"
  25. IC: Zakaro (Mt. Ihu, fighting Artorre) As Artorre let go and hopped away, Zakaro stumbled forward a step, losing his grasp on the Ta Toa's leg. He hadn't expected that move, and the loss of balance showed that. However, even as that happened, Zakaro took the chance to fling himself to the left, trying to crash into the still shaky Artorre and perhaps knock him over. At the least, the roll would take him and his flaming left shoulder into the snow. If it had occurred to him, he would have laughed. Even after all this time on the mountain, it only took one Ta Toa to make the snow look very inviting indeed.
