Why not use MSPaint?

Because it feels to bland, and I really like to try something else. (Especially since I don't know how to resize an image to a sprite size.)

Also MS Paint is simply more limited in what you can actually do without tearing your hair out in frustration. assembling sprite parts is so much easier when you have layers.

In any case, if you're making a sprite comic I recommend starting out with a *stellar* script.
