  1. Always glad to see Warhammer MoCs. Looks really accurate to the source material.
  2. Wow. I never knew Blur had a hand in the LEGO Movie. No wonder it looked so good.
  3. Is there a place that those can be bought? PM me if so.
  4. I stayed up until 2 in the morning my time to listen to the soundtrack the moment it released. Haven't been this excited about anything in my life for a long time. I too loved listening and referencing the music to the different parts of the movie. I honestly hope that this is successful enough that we get a Legends of Metru Nui and Web of Shadows soundtrack. If you want to get those other scores, support Nathan Furst and buy the soundtrack rather than streaming it.
  5. Looks like it could be an actual set, very clean. I'd buy it.
  6. I've never been this excited since Bionicle ended (again)! Great news!
  7. >Be LEGO >Bring back Bionicle G2 >Ignore all the story, worldbuilding, marketing, and licensed items that made G1 successful >Cancel G2 because of poor sales
  8. From the FAQ: Q: Will there be a new platform to replace the LEGO.com Message Boards? A: The message boards are not being replaced. Edit: Also, massive props to the people archiving Greg's words.
  9. Why has LEGO decided to do this, if they're not replacing them with a new set of message boards? Is it a matter of corporate greed? Is LEGO just trying to cut corners everywhere they can find them? Is it just a matter of laziness?
  10. Change never happens on its own. Let alone positive change.
  11. Assuming evil_jaga_genius and I maintain the same point, we are arguing that one of the main issues with Bionicle G2 was a simple lack of content compared to G1 Bionicle, in terms of games, books, comics, and other forms of media that really fleshed out the Bionicle world (Mata Nui, in this case) in a way that made Bionicle appealing as more than just a simple toyline. We are perplexed because an easy answer to that dearth of content comes from this artbook. Imagine if the artbook was released at the end of 2015, or if the Bionicle website posted a new image every week, with a tidbit of explanation and lore alongside it. You state that it is common for entertainment franchises to create far more concepts than they actually use; yes, you are completely right. However, what is not common is for a franchise to use only a handful of concepts that result in a relatively small amount of content (which is a common criticism of G2), while not using the rest of the pile that they could have used. That's our (my) issue.
  12. Two thoughts: One, just for any worried folks, this is not at all illegal. Distributing PDFs of a copyrighted product is not illegal if the copyright holder (LEGO) explicitly allows it. Two. Why? Why didn't LEGO show more of this stuff off before they cancelled Bionicle? It's clear that there were a lot more images, content, concepts, ideas, and general worldbuilding created for Bionicle G2 that LEGO simply left out until now. Bionicle fans were chomping at the bit to get any more morsels about the underdeveloped world of Okoto... and it's not like such morsels didn't exist, LEGO just either left them unfinished or hid them 'til now. I'm sort of at a loss. This is exactly the sort of thing that should have been released before G2's premature end, not after. Or am I merely delusional?
  13. That's honestly amazing. Faber has always been the best and brightest of Bionicle.
  14. I find it amusing that the authors left out LEGO's crucial ties to DC and Disney, with Star Wars and Marvel and other super-heroes. These are lines that allow for price gouging due to the more inelastic demand for certain licensed products. The author neglected to mention any negative sides of LEGO's new transmedia existence.
  15. I do not see any zombie stormtrooper, sadly.
  16. Because China's still making money off of it. Look at all the unlicensed knock-off Transformer toys. In the miniature business (40k, Warmachine, X-wing stuff), illegal recasters have been going crazy by undercutting retail prices. Miniature makers (Games Workshop, Privateer Press) are some of the most ruthless litigation machines you'll ever see, but even they know to leave China alone. Finally, take the completely illegal and unlicensed World of Warcraft theme park in China - despite the enormous popularity of Blizzard games (Hearthstone, Warcraft, World of Warcraft, StarCraft, etc.) in the region, the government has decided A) that the local economy gains too much to shut it down and B) Blizzard doesn't want to lose Chinese business. Just Google unlicensed Warcraft theme park, or knock-off F-150, or "counterfeit consumer goods" on Wikipedia. There's a quote about how there are public protests when officials crackdown on counterfeiters because its on the whims of "bourgeois puppets of foreigners". I should note that I'm certainly no expert, but I think it's clear that even really big companies (Activision Blizzard, Games Workshop, Ford) are unable/unwilling to deal with the Chinese counterfeiting problem.
  17. I hope you folks realize this is absolutely meaningless. Even if everything goes in LEGO's favor, China has repeatedly shown that it doesn't care about enforcing copyrights against manufacturers in its jurisdiction. TL;DR Cheap "LEGO" isn't going anywhere
  18. Everything that Faber does seems to be amazing. Sadly, this video also goes to show how much more effort went into the original Bionicle than the half-hearted reboot.
  19. -justify that it did? I haven't been particularly active on BZP lately, so just before Bionicle ended, I was distressed to find a bevy of threads in which people butted heads over whether the line would continue past Summer 2016. In particular, there was serious vehemence against so-called "doomsayers" ... but they were proven right. I'm not trying to point fingers or attack certain community members, but I'm just honestly very curious as to how the gentlefolks who shot down the "naysayers" feel, why they had the opinions that they did, and how that meshes with the reality of the Bionicle G2 situation. Edit: I completely borked the title. If some mod can clean that up to "Folks who vehemently denied that Bionicle was ending..." , I'd be much obliged.
