jesus guys, it's not a competition. if you don't know what someone else has been through, don't say you or anyone else has had it worse. what a backhanded way to comfort someone.

most people who are in a bad place don't want/need to hear about how insignificant what they're going through is compared to somebody else. if anything, it can make them feel worse. pain doesn't work that way.
