I hope that they don't do some sort of crossover. I highly doubt that that will happen, but then again, its Lego.

Any fellow Bach fans here?
Bach is absolutely the best when it comes to musical architecture. I can't quite say that he's my favorite composer, but in terms of writing absurdly good counterpoint at an absurdly fast rate, there's none better. When you're writing a cantata a week for years on end and write fewer parallel fifths than you have children, you're doing something right.
I'm not a particular fan of the famous D minor Toccata and Fugue but I think that's probably because it's just so dang overused. The WTC and Art of Fugue pieces make me beyond jealous though.
I don't like the toccata very much but the fugue is great!

Why, yes, the word Matoran would be more appropriate. The term "tohunga" was pulled from the saga's lexicon because it offended the Maori people, to whom it rightfully belongs. Continuing to use the term to refer to a LEGO product instead of its actual meaning(s) is disrespectful to their culture and language.
The more you know ~
And calling Umbra, Umbra, is disrespectful to Romans (Italians) because it is derived from a Roman word, and not used with the same meaning and intention in mind? I'm sorry, but telling someone to prohibit which words they use to refer to something, simply on the off-chance that an individual will be offended, comes off as juvenile.
Because let's face it, the "Maori v. Lego" incident wasn't about being offended. It was about making money.
That being said, Matoran is the more functional word to use, as it is the one most commonly referenced canonically. I may be misremembering things, but I believe it was later stated, after Kewa and Kohu were returned to the fold, that "Tohunga" is a very specific word which refers to the villagers in their divide, Mata-Nui state, and is meant to represent a lack of unity caused by Makuta's attacks. Or something along those lines. In any case, since we're talking about the species, which is always referred to as "Matoran", that's the better fit.
But let's get down to the nitty gritty:
Alright, so apparently, the Tohunga on Mata-Nui are a weakened version of the Tohunga from Metru-Nui. That much has been established in the story cannon, however, in what ways were the Tohunga weakened?
I saw the 2001 Tohunga do just about everything that any of the 2004 Tohunga (or would the word Matoran be more appropriate) could do, so is it like a difference in strength? Can the 2004 Tohunga lift more?
I never really got this.
The Matoran of Metru-Nui were subjected to immense, otherworldly gains, as a result of constant work and labor brought on by the oppressive government which had allowed itself to take root. But that's besides the point; the point is how they were weakened.
When Makuta placed the Matoran in pods, hoping to keep them in a semi-conscious animation, he originally planned to use the Vahi to cause the rapid passing of time, thus allowing him to be their "savior" after a "great deal of time" had passed. It is unclear if he originally had measures in place to keep their bodies from decaying, if he was willing to risk it, or if he simply didn't think; in any event, after his defeat, and Visorak occupation of Metru-Nui, the Matoran's bodies and minds began to wane.
The result? Complete amnesia upon being awakened, resulting in lowered technical skills and capabilities, and a loss of both size and muscle mass, causing them to be smaller, and much weaker; thus, rather than utilize tools, they were forced to turn to slinging Kanoka disks and the like as a way of defense.
Of course, then came along the "rebuilding", a.k.a. "the CEO of LEGO needs a new yacht", which restored most of their strength. And, of course, dealing with Rahi, the Matoran overall became more competent warriors, and gained new technical skills, simply as a requirement to survive.

Hahaha, that yacht joke made my day!

I really dislike how easy it is to knock off the mask. 90% of the time, I'm knocking off my Onua's mask by accident!

I highly doubt that they are a language of any kind.
what part of "What I suggest is the creation of a fan-developed language" didn't you get? this isn't about speculating whether they're intended to be a language or not; we have another topic for that. this thread is for potentially putting one together ourselves.
on topic; i suspect Tolkien's already started on something involving the Okoto runes...i've kind of been waiting for him to post something about it and then build on that. of course, i might just get left hanging if he hasn't been working on anything, heh.
Why would you want to make a language? What exactly is the point?

Isn't there already a post like this?

Ever since I was a little kid, I was always bugged by the way in which the characters of the Bionicle Universe were rendered in media (such as games and movies).
In Bionicle: The Game (2003), every character looks like some sort of remixed transformer vaguely based off of the sets. Every single model looks as though it can be from a N64 Game! (a bit of a stretch, I know) The same is applicable to the canceled Bionicle: City of Legends (2004) game. The movies, however, took a different approach. They aimed to make them look more... biological I guess, but the characters were at least recognizable.
The one game that got it right was Bionicle: The Legend of Mata-Nui (2001) [yet again] and Bionicle: Quest for the Toa (2001). The Toa, the Tohunga, the Rahi, they all look like the sets! I guess that you can count MNOG... Bionicle Heroes (2006?) did a good job too.
The Legend Reborn (2009?) had the best designed characters in my opinion.

I've played pipe organ since I developed an interest in it at the age of 7. I had already played piano, but the pipe organ is my speciality now. I really love Bach.
My favorite stops are Vox Angelica, Vox Humana (weird choice, I know) Trumpet 8', Principal 8', and Rhör Floute 16'.
I discovered at a young age that I had a my much better than average ear. I have videos of myself playing Bach's Little Fugue in G Minor at the age of 5 or 6, accurately!
My pipe organ belonged to Dr. Virgil Fox and I have paper work to prove it!
The pipe organ is my life.- 3

By memorabilia I mean boxes for masks at Toys-R-Us (2001) and Bionicle Banner-Thing (2001). It could also be display stands or something of that nature.

The LOSS is awkward to hold, just as I foresaw!

Does anybody have this really big Bionicle 2001 poster for sale? Thanks.

Bach. Nuff' said.

Nobody is 'the ultimate fan' as nobody has a copy of BIONICLE: The Legend of Mata-Nui, but that is simply my opinion.

The mask of time has made several cameos throughout the recent Bionicle videos. In "The Legend", the mask makes an appearance in a cloud. In "Prophecy of Heroes" It makes an appearance in a wall in the temple of time. In "The Arrival" It makes an appearance in a pile of boulders. I could not find one in "The quest for the Golden Masks" but perhaps I just missed it.
I have not checked the character videos, so there may be cameos in them. The protectors meet in "the Temple of Time". Could the Vahi be the third unnamed mask?
UPDATE I am aware that I put an apostrophe in "Vahi" in the title

Explain how Metru-Nui was severally damaged by the GC but not by everything else that the MN robot did for 10,000 years.
