I have to agree with you, Pohatu's also my favorite. I like the fact that he has a low parts count because it removes all of the unnecessary add-ons that come with the other Toa. His short and basic build is great for getting him into some really nice-looking poses.
Pohatu is actually my favorite set out of the winter wave, to be honest. lol There's something neat about his simplicity and smaller size. Small, but tough, kind of like a Bionicle version of Bruce Lee. That and his limbs aren't hindered by those extension pieces, which make moving the limbs kinda strange sometimes. I can hardly pose Tahu with flat, steady feet thanks to those pieces, and I must have snapped off his legs five times. They make the limbs too stiff in my opinion. Pohatu, however, does not suffer from that.Don't lump me in with 'everyone'.
I like Skull Scorpio's technic build and cheap price. He's the Pohatu of this wave - the set with horrible price/piece ratio that nobody likes.
Except for those that do.
Yeah I'm with the pohatu crowd. He finally looks as tough as he always should have. His new kakama is incredibly intimidating looking and his physique makes him look like a fast warrior. He's supposed to be the toa of stone, not pebbles. At first lewa was my favorite from the winter wave, but it quickly became pohatu. His posing capabilities are unmatched and unhindered by extra add-ons. I do greatly appreciate the add-ons the other toa have, it gives them character and individuality, but when it comes to posing and playing it usually all just gets in the way or falls off. With pohatu, there's none of that.
As far as the summer wave, I for one still love skull Scorpio, and I do partially agree that MMvsSG is the best set of the year, maybe for the MoCr alone. I just wish it came with more gears and blue pins to add friction. It's an incredibly easy fix of course that doesn't alter the appearance or build of the set in really any way, but I wish they came optional in the set and that I didn't have to order more to get his arm steady.

I connected hard with kopaka as a kid. Still do today. Most likely ice for me.

Huh, I would've thought Basher would use a rubber band like Dragon Bolt instead of having the ribbed hose act as the spring. Is it a decent substitute?
Yeah -
, it allows you to swipe the arms left and right, something that cannot be done when built with a rubber band.Yes it's definitely awesome. Whilst rubber bands are very useful, I always appreciate it when a function is accomplished using an actual Lego piece. Plus as nescent said it allows for him to slash his arms left and right as well as bashing together.

The only problem with the purple motorbike is that Onua is the only one that fully matches the color scheme.
My mom threw away all of my G1 Bionicles a few years back when I first went to college so I've been trying to re-collect pieces.
Man that is pretty heartbreaking

Potatu's jeterangs also have bohrok eyes on their ends as well.
Those eyes never went out of production in the first place. They've been used in a few system sets over the last few years. In regards to skull scorpio whilst he is still quite a disappointing set his tail function really does remind me of the bohrok, does make me wonder what the future might hold. Also am I the only one who noticed that bohrok eyes are back?
Also, my 2015 sets came yesterday. They're even cooler in person. I'm reallllly really loving them as of now. Skull slicer's multiple arm function is a little funky, and skull warrior doesn't balance well when you put his crossbow on his back, but over all they all look awesome separately and together. Kulta's torso gap really isn't bothering me all that much, Scorpio might be my favorite of the 5 honestly, and the MoCr is absolutely stunning and looks amazing on both Ekimu and Kulta. I posted some pictures, including some mask close ups, on Instagram. You should be able to click the link and be able to see them without an account

See, I hear that excuse so many times, but in all honesty what kid wants to have to focus on posing SIX legs plus arms while playing? I know that I get annoyed when limbs go out of place, especially when I was a child, so this would have been a life saver to me. Posability is awesome, but there comes a time when too much is too much. I never got to experience the 01 rahi, but I always remembered wanting all of them. It just seemed so cool that you could build a toy with these mechanical like functions. I truthfully think that the level of posability everyone is asking for is an adult collector thing, since it's extremely impractical.
I don't understand why people don't like him. He's Takadox levels of cool for me, and Takadox was my favorite villain set next to Vamprah. Oh well, nothing can be done about people having horrible opinions.I think they've executed the idea of a mess of humanoid body parts cobbled together and repurposed into a bony frame vaguely mimicing an ALIEN scorpion about as well as could be expected. He's SUPPOSED to be ugly as heck. He's completely unnatural. That's his thing.
Maybe it's just that the whole idea is bad conceptually, and they should never have attempted it? I don't like to think of it that way, though. In any case, he's grown on me.
Literally the only thing wrong with scorpio (in my opinion) is that his legs have no posability. I feel like it could have been a simple fix, simply adding some technic balls and Y joints, but I'm assuming that doing that might have pushed it out of the price range they were going for.
His large weird tail is frankly the best part about him. It is VERY reminiscent of the 01 rahi, especially the tarakava. No set will ever make every fan happy though. Oh well!
I can agree with that. Honestly, skull scorpio's lack of leg mobility doesn't make him any less fun for me, and i'm a "grown up". I just understand the reasons why someone would want his legs to be pose-able.

I rather not pay out-the-mouth for shipping.Anyone who really wants the sets ASAP, you can order them from Amazon UK and pick the quickest shipping. I placed my order on Friday and they're scheduled to arrive tomorrow to Connecticut.
200$? LOL
The shipping was $20 for me? I don't know where the $200 is coming from

Yes, I want to be the thirty-year-old who still enjoys creating things with a fun building system. My interest in LEGO has lasted over fourteen years, so I don't think another eight years is going to kill it for me. Getting older doesn't mean you have to stop doing what you enjoy; if anything, it just gives you a greater opportunity to enjoy it.No it doesn't, when I was four I got into Bionicle with the toa metru and stuck with the series, started MOCing, you guys know how it goes. The reason I am not nostalgic is because I am fifteen, I have started to grow out of it. I can still appreciate the sets and MOC/animate with them from time to time but it's not like I can't put them in storage due to their sentimental value.
What might help you guys get rid of your nostalgia is if you look at it like this: Do you want to be the thirty year old who still plays with his/her toys or the thirty year old who has a job he/she loves and excels in and might be well on his/her way to a (top-notch) promotion after only a year of work?
I'm a 24 year old with a full time career. I live with my girlfriend in a condo with our dog. I still legitimately play with my bioncle sets most days of the week, and have literally every set I own on display somewhere in my place.
Now back on topic, it is incredibly nostalgic. To this day, I can't look at gali mata or a tarakava without getting feelings of being 10 again and fighting with them in my parents living room. Every time I look at sidorak, I get a rush of being a teenager again, watching WoS over and over and over and over again and plotting how sidorak didn't actually die and how he's simply awaiting the right moment to swoop back in and take control. I doubt these emotions will ever go away. I'm an incredibly sentimental person, and bionicle is one of the nearest and dearest things to my heart.

It could be skull grinder for sure. There are every slight differences between the picture and the actual skull mask (around the eyebrows) but that wouldn't be the first time promo art and the final product differ slightly.

Always gotta have a long t-axle around to push the smaller ones out. Makes life so much easier. Orange brick separators are crucial in taking apart system pieces as well. I have a mountain of them collecting on my living room coffee table.

Good job, JJ! I really like the chest, and the use of the Metru foot as a chestplate complements it well. It's a nice and solid, while still slim and flexible, Toa.
My one gripe is the arms. Your green upper arms really don't match with the rest of the MOC. I'd say either make the upper arms black with the silver armor plate, or just incorporate more overall green. Just green mask and hands work well enough.
That issue aside, this is still an amazing MOC! Great job!
Thank you! Now that you said it, I certainly agree with the upper arms. Black would definitely work better and fit with the aesthetic I was going for a lot more.

It's interesting to see Ekimu go into the combination as well. For some reason I wasn't expecting that.
I had a random thought though. It bugged me that the Masks the new sets come with are transparent in a color that's not the main color. For example, Kopaka is white but the mask is gold and blue. But I noticed that the protector of ice has a blue transparent bit at the top in the same shade of blue. This lines up for all four toa masks the new sets come with. The new toa masks match the transparent color scheme of the protectors'.
Now since we know that the protectors are essentially the new form of turaga, it wouldn't be crazy to think that they used to be toa as well. Maybe the protectors fought the new Skull baddies during their time as toa but ended up losing. It could be that they never got the golden masks and so they just weren't strong enough. If the toa's regular masks turned transparent like the golden ones, the color scheme would match the protectors' masks.
The trans colors are also shared by the respective toa, not just the protector. I'm assuming this must represent their elemental power.

After half a day of work I managed to put together the Mask maker + Skull Grinder + Skull Scorpio combiner
I was never a very good moccer, but surely I was able to put together sets just by looking at photos... I'm happy I still retain some of that ability
Thanks for sharing! I wonder if Skull Grinder will take the Mask of Creation from Ekimu, wear it, and become that combiner form. The MoCr looks pretty freaky with red eyes, on such an evil figure.
This looks so awesome. I am curious if the combiners will be canon. I hope they are. Kaita-esque skull villains would be pretty sweet.
I keep calling the local Lego stores and they still don't have them in as of today. Hoping they get here soon. The anticipation is killing me. I want these sets soooo bad. Skeleton styled bionicle sets just might become some of my favorites reaaaalllllll quick.

I think his mask is very resemblent of the original kakama. His eyes were just narrow slits that didn't allow you to see much of the eyestalk back then either.
And as far as the pins it actually does work perfectly. I posted that meaning that I had already added pins and gears in order to fix it, and it fixes it perfectly. If you don't believe me, go watch the video jang posted.
