We're off to a good start!
The story's atmosphere fits its placement well, and the characters are true to their MNOG portrayals.
Making Tamaru a she is an odd decision, but it's not a big deal at all. Her actions make it believable. I like her treespeak, enigmatic but not incomprehensible.
Taipu is lovably mild, as always. His dedication to Onu-Koro is spot-on.
Kapura is fine too. I hope we can find out more about the mystery of his travel technique...
Good job! Keep it up!

I am completely enamoured with the Podracer, but they're all good designs.

You're reminded of the existence of democracy, forcing you to run for president.
Among your competitors is yours truly, promising a new era of socioeconomical prosperity and free Kanohi for everyone. And I have a kitty.
Election day comes, and the results are in!
...got 'em.

Out come an anime Gali Nuva, which I'll not describe any further for the sake of our sensibilities, and a BIONICLE chick, aka Roodaka.
In go a Nintendo DS with BIONICLE Heroes loaded and a Voyatoran which is not Velika.

The mask hasn't moved from the Makuta's... hands? Are those hands?
...I don't think I-say-so works with him. Let me try.

Ow!
...nope. Not moved a bit. Guess you'll have to come get it, otherwise we're doomed.
The Makuta's mask, still.

I left the Gukko outside a cave and started doing what I know best: digging my troubles away.
...
The earth today is warmer than usual, isn't it?
...
...
...I'm not sure what direction I dug in, because there's a lot of water here. I think it's the old Great Mine.
The pathway to Onu-Koro is blocked by a big lava flow. Unusual, Ta-Wahi's lava rivers don't pass through here...
Oh well, gotta keep digging. Down, down, down we go...
...
Wonder about that mask I once had. Hope it's on good hands, since it's not on mine...
...
...
*thud*
Wait, what? It's solid ground. Reminds me of some good armour I saw once. There's a hatch...
...
...
...oh.
So there's the mask.

My opinions about the previous films couldn't be closer to the first paragraphs of the review. Good to know my expectations for this one will be met, then (except the BIONICLE part. Bummer).
Now, if anyone who has seen Bumblebee can please help me with this: is it worth watching at this point, or can I wait some more until it's on PPV and direct my family's theatre budget to this one instead?

Awesome story. I loved the characters (although I might be a bit biased on Jaiya's design...), and his dynamic with Roz would make for a great ongoing buddy cop show.
My one problem with the story (and tha"problem"'s too big of a word, actually) is that moment where Sykit adresses the weapon's canonicity. As informative as it was, it felt a bit out of place in the conversation. Still, that's but one small thing in an otherwise very solid, entertaining story.
Congrats on such a great story! Will we ever see more of Detective Jaiya?

Soaring on a Gukko bird that escaped its stable before the catastrophe, I am instinctively carried over the barren treetops, where a single figure, you, stands.
I notice the golden item in your grasp and understand the situation.
So I barrage you with disks until you fall down.
The Gukko dives to follow your fall, where its powerful beak grabs the mask. Not before I blast your face off with some more disks, though.
Your figure is lost to the deadly swamps below. I carry the mask with me, hoping to find someone who can aid me in its secrets.
The Mask of Life is in my hands now.

Formidable. I have overestimated the deepness of the creature, foolishly believing its name alone would not ring the smallest of reactions. I have learned something.
Let us return to the subject at hand, shall we?

Whoa. This is quite the argument, isn't it?
Honestly I hadn't even seen Yellow Tamaru until now... He looks fine, I guess. Of course, this means I'm more familiar with Teal Tamaru, but it's no big deal, really.
How about we find a (second?) middle ground and take him as yellow when diminished and Teal when rebuilt?

Those messages were actually clues for the Search for the Seventh sweepstakes, which was the contest for winning the platinum Avohkii. Fans were supposed to guess the seventh Toa's location from the locations labeled on the map of Mata Nui in the front of the book.
Okay, that's interesting. It's still amusing, though. I imagine some kid reading the book and somehow not knowing about the sweepstakes cracking his brain to translate all that and just getting "The Seventh Toa does not like the Lava Falls". Is that foreshadowing of some sort about the place Takua found the Avohkii at?
-
Checking the Official Guide right now. I love how the Matoran Messages are just teasing about the Seventh Toa's hiding place.

User A: I can't help but feel this board's dying.
[board is literally just their post and the reply box. Hapori Tohu lies immoveable on top, still watching over its home in its last moments.]
User 1: Well yeah, I mean BIONICLE's over for the 7th time, and it's been three cycles since GregF IV last updated the G6 neurocasts. The recovery of G4's Legend of the Hero Mask City 3 is on hiatus, and there's only 6 G1 Hahli Mahri sets left intact in the whole planetary system. There's still many fans out there, though, just look at r/bioniclememes's continuous cortical outputs. I'd say BIONICLE will live on for at least a thousand more years...
