It’s certainly possible. the fact that no makuta were left alive is something we see from Teridax’s point of view after he killed all the ones on Destral. It makes sense that he would have kept a list of those that were around. But during the Destiny War, the order was going around killing Makuta, so not all would be accounted for. And there are likely limits to Teridax’s omniscience, seeing as he had to teleport the shadow Takanuvas to kill alternate Teridax (rather than simply ending him by godly power) so why not have one or more Makuta hiding among the Destiny war dead?

Old post, I know. I found this from your signature, but I wanted to say just how much I enjoyed these few chapters. The Legends of Metru Nui movie raised me, and the Jovan fight plays so well and so cinematically over the equivalent Lhikan scene. Also - is the plasma blast bit from Chapter 3 taken from the Dresden files? Or just coincidence haha

One of the problems I always had with the size of the lands in the Makutaverse - is that it seems disproportionate to the number of Makuta. if Mata Nui created 100 Makuta and each was assigned a region (before the convocation and the extermination of the Miserix faction) it doesn’t make sense for the remaining Makuta to rule such massive chunks of the universe - the dozen or so named Makuta rule maybe 50% of the civilised universe, excluding the southern islands. Of course, having the Makuta expand territory as the other Makuta died off over time explains this (we saw this with Spiriah’s land of Zakaz being reassigned) but extrapolating from the map leaves us with maybe 25-30 Makuta left alive. Which seems really small for the rest to have died by accident and civil war (Miserix only had “a handful” of supporters). This is the most powerful species in the universe after all. So where are all the other Makuta’s realms?
