I remember that there was a girl a couple years back in my high school conference who was like the state champ in both pole vault and the 3000m run, which I guess is unheard of for an event combo where the athlete is excelling at both events, since they're so different.

Cool! I did XC for two years doing high school, and it was very fun, even though I don't really do long distance races much.

Yes, I pole vault, and I also do sprints/relays, but I haven't done any in quite some time.

Yes, I did indoor track on my college's team. Indoor nationals is this week, and I'm kind of sad that I didn't make it, because I was one height away in pole vault from qualifying. I am super stoked for outdoor season, though.

Generally, yes. Some elementary schools only go to the fifth grade, but mine went to the sixth grade. I think I was eleven when I was in sixth grade, though, but that was because of my birthday. It's, for the most part, ages 5-12 for elementary school years.

Part 2:

A lot of parents, if their child's birth-date is very close to the cutoff, will just wait a year and put them in school when they're six. I guess their reasoning is because their child will be so young and might not learn as quickly as other children, but that never effected me.

Usually at the age of five, unless they do preschool, and in that case (if you count that) it'd be the age of three or four, but, really who counts preschool?
