  1. I never fully understood how the heroes were really keeping up a legacy for their roles in the established society. Just hear me out:

    • They can never land a solid hit on a single bad guy using their weapon until just the right time (unless you're in Stormer's flashbacks)
    • When a swarm enemy comes into play, the heroes who could barely land a hit suddenly become stronger and are able to take out one enemy in just a few strikes.
    • Is the entire government a monopoly if the Hero Factory, a business in and of itself, is running the government? Are there people who do not like the Hero Factory (other than villains, of course) solely for this reason?
    • From that last question, is the term "villain" really a symbol that the "villains" like to call themselves, or is it just the Hero Factory's way of establishing what they call their out-group? (an out-group is a group of people to which one shows antagonism)
    • I feel as if the Heroes in the field would have to call in the HF Headquarters before making large-scale decisions, such as the decision prematurely made at the end of IfB. Anyone with me? I mean, they could have saved that entire race if Makuro said no to it.
I don't know about you, but I would not feel safe if the Hero Factory (or something like it) was running the established society.  ;)

Well, there was a mention of the Anti-HF-League in a Hero Factory FM episode, if you remember...

Despotism of police forces disguised under the facade of smiling faces seems to be a common trope among LEGO themes, though - just consider LEGO City. :P

  2. That's just sad. No doubt the AFOLs who hated Bionicle back in the day are teaching their kids to steer clear of its evils, even now... which is really something, considering how much closer CCBS is made to feel like Lego bricks than the oldschool Bionicle aesthetic. It was made to bridge the gap between Bionicle fans and the bitter AFOLs.

Pretty sure the impact of AFOL parents who are evil like that is negligible. :P

  3. That was unexpected, as I had no idea we were looking for new reporting staff, but totally deserved! I always found the quality of your writing extraordinary, Scott. You will be a fantastic addition and I look forward to working with you and to read your great stories! :) Huge congrats!

  4. Oh cool. I didn't know that last bit :P

Just a general question then, that Hapori Tohu is a joined account that all reporters have acces to?

No, the Reporters post the news story into the system, then a regularly running server routine adds the story to the RSS feed and later yet another server routine posts talkbacks for all new stories in the RSS feed via the Hapori Tohu account. It's not ideal but a new system is underway.

Eh, Honest Trailers are funny sometimes, but it seems they're all about ridiculing the movies. I dunno, maybe I just prefer the tone of HISHE more. :shrugs: Still, a nice sound that they put together.

    :music:

Agreed, HISHE is the best. ^_^
  5.

Not where I expected to hear about this...

    Why is that? ^_^

I never really imagined Bionicle and that channel had many fans in common. I dunno, I guess I thought someone would have asked him to say Unity Duty Destiny by now.

    That's a good point.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but 9001 years ago, mentioning YouTube was not allowed because all the inappropriate content one might encounter there, correct?

Yes, but that changed a long time ago (check out the current Advertising Policy). And Reporters had always been allowed to link to appropiate videos in their reports.

I didn't mean to complain, I love their stuff too. I probably wouldn't have seen it for a while if it wasn't up here.

    I didn't read it as a complaint anyway. ^_^

I think they make decent stuff and I happen to be a Reporter here so I thought this would make a good story. :P I never ask them to say anything, though. :P
  7.

Wait... is that a Nindroid fighting a ghost?

Is it just me or does every army villain end up fighting for good? The Skeletons fought the Snakes, the Snakes helped save the people of New Ninjago City, and now the Nindroids (who we already knew were acting as security droids for Cyrus Borg) are now fighting ghosts? Next we're going to see the ghosts fighting whatever villain comes next. :P

And those Bionicle villains are really neat. Hoping that the marbled Tahu & Gali masks show up somewhere! (Another polybag set perhaps?)

According to a member on Eurobricks, Lego actually cancelled two skull villain sets in order to keep Bionicle's budget low (that's why there are so few of them compared to the winter wave)\, and those sets would have come with Tahu's and Gali's masks.

And where would said member happen to know this from?

  8. I'm not too fond of these... They are not horrible and have some nice pieces, I like the skull mask, too but overall, they range from lame to okay. None of them stands out to me as a great set. Skull Grinder has the Ekimu and MoC bonus of course and is okay besides that, but not too exciting, Skull Basher looks okay, too (not a fan of the huge horns, though) but Skull Scorpio is crazy and Skull Slicer is pretty lame - so much indeed that he even reuses the Skull Spider mask. I bet they'll all look much better in the cartoon than they do as sets. :P Those Toa masks are too glorious, though. And I'll admit they all do look pretty creepy so they did succeed in that. The skeleton aesthetic is a like or dislike thing so if you don't like that you simply won't like these. I think they could have managed the aesthetic better but it's alright. I don't know yet if I'll get any of these, I guess I'll decide when reviews come up.

Bfahome, looks like everyone's too caught up in the hype to think about your question. I'm not seeing any listing of contents for this promo pack, and unless I'm looking at it at completely the wrong angle, I'm not seeing the trans-orange Hau in the picture. It almost looks like a completely different mold....

@Nescent: saying it's "very clearly a trans-orange Hau" is a bit presumptuous. It's clearly trans-orange, but where is the iconic open-mouth design of the Hau? What's up with what looks to be ridge of spikes along the forehead?

It's obvious that LOGICALLY there's a high likelihood of it being a Hau, what with us having seen these in the hands of the select few. But looking at the blurry image provided, I think there's also a possibility of it being a completely new mask. Unless I'm the only one here who can't see that it's "CLEARLY a Hau". In that case, I'll cede my argument and my skepticism :P

The mold is undoubtedly a Hau.  What I was doubting is the idea that it's transparent orange.  Unless there's anything saying it is, all we have to go on is a small image that may not be as clear as we think.  And I don't see that as enough to merit a headline saying it's a trans-orange mask.

If the lightning was off on the picture and that was the cause of it looking that way (which honestly sounds too unprofessional for something LEGO would do), the dark blue Skull Spider likely wouldn't look perfectly alright either.

You can see the vents on the sides of the mask.

I really hope you dont have to spend a silly amount to get it. If I didnt already have all the sets it wouldnt be to too bad. Hopefully its just with any Bionicle purchase, because it looks really neat.

Looks like you can get it with any purchase.
  11. I don't know if this is recent or if I'm just having issues, but all of those videos come up as "Private" for me, so they're unable to be watched. Is there another place to see these? They sound really cool. :c

It's not just you. That's odd, looks like these were released ahead of time as well.

I don't know if someone else has re-uploaded them somewhere on YouTube, you could check.

  12. So does this mean no Gameboy or computer variants? I don't really like playing games on my phone ever since it went touch screen. My screen's touch function always seems to malfunction. By that I mean it gets to the point where touching a part of the screen wont do anything. Really sucks when playing a game or general typing as I have lost access to several letters due to this. Playing an actual game on a touch screen would only amplify this issue I'd think. Oddly enough though, the touch screen on my 3DS never seems to malfunction... yet *knock on wood*.

Maybe it's time to get a new phone if yours' most important input method doesn't even work correctly anymore...
