  1.

    I just use cheat codes.

Where can I get some? :P

In MNOLG2 type in 'Kapura' and start goofing with the F1 - F12 keys.

Are you sure the F1-F12 keys do things? I thought just the number keys did.

There's also some sort of thing you can do in Kolhii matches where you can automatically win. I'll have to find JMMB's post on that.

There's offscreen buttons you can see by resizing the projector window that you can click and win or lose instantly. It's not visible on the championship, but you can press tab until it highlights with a yellow boy and press enter.
I'm pretty sure it's the number keys, and isn't the championship just a cutscene?

I think it is "F4" or simply "4" that skips the thingumbob.
  2. ... That was... well thought out....
TBH VNOG is one of my favourite game to speedrun. It is one of those games that took me months to complete, but when I realize what to do I can finish it within about a couple of hours. The things that waste most of the time in the first playthrough are figuring out where to go and getting random encounters.
  3. I've beaten VNOG in less than an hour and a half. Could be shorter though if I could get better drops (i.e. Powerful Soul Stone from the first ape and all Great Masks from Burnaks).

There're no certain strategy in speedrunning VNOG other than planning in advance (e.g. get all the items in the village so you can start chapter 2 much faster and getting the Medium Ice Gears along the coast first) and having good luck at drops. It is also better to test a strategy with console commands before actually doing it. Writing down the steps helps out a lot.

The strategy that I use is to play as Hahli and defeat as many Water Burnaks (They are the easiest type of Burnaks that have a medium chance of dropping Great tier gears with high experience for early game; it is possible for Ice/Earth Burnaks to drop gears as well but they are usually of low quality) as possible to grind for Tier 3 gears at the beginning (WARNING: Involves high luck; Burnaks might not drop items) so you don't have to grind for shards or high experience for late game enemies. (The reason for choosing Hahli is as she already pocesses Water attack bonus, equipped with high tier Water gears her Elemental Special will be nigh unstoppable)

Once you get a set of Great Mask, Medium Armor and Heavy Greaves you are good to go up to the Virus Factory (afterwards you can obtain Heavy Armor at the area around Capes of No Hope). You don't have to hunt for gears of all elements, as the gears will boost all elemental stats. Just remember, you choose your gears with Tier as your highest pirority (as they mean more AP/MP/RP and more elemental stats boost) then Element (For Attack Gears you take the ones of your element; for Defense Gears you take the ones of your opposing element). However it doesn't matter much about the Elemental aspect of the gears as long as it is of a high tier as the MP/AP/RP are always worth more than Elemental Stats.

For all the optional enemies it is better to hide from them rather than confronting them, even if it means you don't move for a minute until they move aside to make a clear path for you. Trust me, it is often the better option to evade a long combat that you would likely lose or spend too much time on. If this fails, only engage them when they are grouped so you don't have to waste turns to chase them down. Defeat the Ganfa first as they always run away even if that means you have to suffer from other hard hitting attacks. Worse case scenario, you might just have to engage then abandon the fight, lose some experience and hope that they won't chase you again.

For combat just spam the Elemental Special to deduct enemies' AP so you don't have to suffer from damaging attacks and lose the fight. A deduction of 2AP can stop most enemies from attacking in the next turn, except for Piraka, Guard Burnak, certain Nektanns and Elite Ussal, but even so the AP deduction can prevent them from doing their most damaging attacks. This default attack is very useful as it consumes little AP and you can certainly immobilize at least one enemy in a turn once you get a Medium armor (Elemental Special costs 6AP, the Medium armor makes you own 12AP and 1 Elemental Special deducts 1-2AP). Standing in an corner to prevent attacks from all sides also helps, although this robs your mobility and at late game when enemies have high MP this won't work.

Also level up your Technique as it also allows more AP deduction (up to 2) per Elemental Special (also deals up to ~120 damage if w/ high tier gears + critical hit) and more chance for better Soul Stone/Life Stone heals, which is much better than Defense or Attack as the latter two can be acquired through gears. High Technique also allows you to completely nullify enemies' attacks by evasion, although you cannot evade stats deduffs.

As for the other weapons slots I prefer an enhanced Zamor Launcher so I can end a combat without moving much (also good for fighting Fikou/Rock Ussal/Ice enemies as they deduct your MP) and a Launcher so I can distance myself from powerful enemies; also these weapons are free in early mid-game if you know where to find them :). They also consume medium AP so you can choose another attack in the same turn if you will and the best part is they both deal fairly high damage. Don't use melee weapons against Fikou/Rock Ussal/Ice enemies as they can immobilize you and you would waste a turn for nothing. Of course there's always the option of abandoning the battle, but the loss of experience can slow down progress. Also most importantly don't use weapons of your conflicting element as they will only deal minor damage.

Lastly, for the trinket slot I prefer either the (Powerful) Life Stone or Soul Stone. The standard versions of these trinkets are given to you by Garan as you progress, with the Life Stone available at early game. The Powerful version of the Life Stone can be found by defeating a certain amount of Master Nektanns (ensured drop but hard fights), while the Powerful Soul Stone is dropped rarely (by rarely, I mean a Makuta giving you a wholeheartedly friendly hug kind of rare) by The Stone Turtles or Lava Apes (easier fights but never seem to drop). They are both good healing items, but each have their own downsides. For example, Life Stone heals less than Soul Stone and uses 8AP making almost no other moves available, while Soul Stone only consumes 1AP but can only be used once. So choose carefully, whether you want to constantly heal or heal once in a battle.

    EDIT: Glitch expliots

    1. This one is more well known. If you click "Back To Home" instead of "Abandon Fight" you will quit a fight without losing experience and enemies will reset their location so you wouldn't easily get caught the second time.

    2. If you run/walk past a Matoran before speaking to him/her you will make him repeat his/her last dialogue (Mostly the "I am busy; Come back later" one). This also updates the quest log so you can exploit this to save seconds from discussion by without having to click "Give items" or "So What's Next".

    3. At one point you will have to escort a Matoran to the Capes of No Hope and then meet up with Garan. With a teleportation pack, you can engage at battle with an Ice Burnak at the end of the icy coast and teleport to the other side of the island so you can save a lot of trekking.

  4. Hmmm... There were malfunctioning Vahki in Metru Nui during the Visorak invasion, right? And I think the Visorak just destroyed those, whereas they mutated just about everything else. This could point to pure machines being immune to Hordika venom. But then, what would a Vahki Hordika be like? Trying to enforce order, while being an animal? :???:

Those were just overcharged Vahki due to the Cataclysm. I doubt that the Hordika venom can affect fully mechnical beings, but stranger things had happened.

  5. In VNOG where a multi-hit weapon will sometimes cause the fight to freeze. The annoying part is, if you return to menu and go back to the game, the fight will restart but the enemies you defeated will be gone. But you don't get to have their drops so sometimes you can get stuck there if the said enemy has a key item. :/

The occasional Out of Bounds glitch with BIONICLE: Heroes can be annoying as well...

  6. Notice that most if not all bootlegs are made in China.

Because over here in China maufacturers make all sort of fake stuffs just so they can make huge money out of it. Heck, they even have a fake Disneyland :(

A little warning if you want to get your hands on these, some factories in China might use poor materials to create products in order to lower production cost. These plastics might be fragile or even toxic.

(Luckily I live in Hong Kong so I don't suffer from these fake stuffs, but it is rather funny and sad at the same time to see things like these)

  7. Turaga Nui would beat Matoran Nui out. In addition to having elemental powers that are slightly stronger than Av-Matoran (as well as the elemental immunities of their elemental type) and the abilities of six Noble Masks, it is probable that it would be physically stronger than a Matoran Nui because Turaga are stronger than Matoran. Matoran Nui might have a mobility edge, but Turaga Nui could easily stop it from a distance with the elemental and Kanohi powers.

    ---Quote End---

You know, it seems kinda unfair to brand Turaga as "slow" despite their appearance. After all, Vakama (as a Turaga) had once beaten the Rahi Nui single-handedly -_-

  8. I don't think Turaga have weaker physical prowess than Matoran's. After all we have never seen any existing example comparsion besides deduction by appearance (which can be inaccurate).

Remember how Turaga Vakama single-handedly defeated the Rahi Nui? XD

That being said I think Turaga Nui might has a slightly higher advantage than a Matoran Nui in a fight with extremely limited elemental powers and Noble mask power.

But after all, we have never seen a Turaga Nui. Heck, we haven't even seen a Turaga Kaita. How do we know it is possible for such a fusion?

  9. It's possible they had other colors that the elemental ones mixed with or overpowered. :shrugs:

Or maybe their current secondary colors are that individual's natural colors, while the primary is the elemental?

    -----Quote End-----

That might be the case. They have gun metal, silver and golden armor. Also, look at Vezon, who is (half) a Skakdi with no element affliction, and he has silver and black armor. I guess all Skakdi piror to the elemental-transmution have the same or at least similar color scheme.

  10.

Since there's this Red Star revival thing, can the Av-Matoran that transformed in Bohrok be revived (after the Bohrok armor is destroyed)?

Probably not; dead Turaga aren't revived as Toa, nor dead Toa as Matoran. I'm aware that it is a radically different transformation, but the Bionicle-science should be similar.

Hmm. But then I guess the Av Matoran's spirit just fades away then? What a waste of resources :/

  11.

On the topic of the Vorox/Zesk, I wonder if they were always a bit more savage and primal compared to the other intelligent species on the planet (both before the Shattering and before the GBs did all that genetic mutation stuff to them). Almost like living in mostly isolation in the desert after the Shattering pushed them over the edge.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that they were always a bit primal/savage even before the Shattering, and the subsequent disaster totally ruined them.

Ever wonder if that has anything to do with the Agori's/Glatorian's loss of ability to create new things after the Shattering?

  12. BS01 lists Nikila as being revived in the Red Star. That makes absolutely no sense, though; Nikila and the rest of her team were killed 100,000 years ago, around 20,000 years before the Red Star malfunctioned. Thus, assuming her body was left intact to be teleported, she should be back in the Matoran Universe... which has its own hosts of problems; I find it hard to believe she couldn't have found Lesovikk in a span of 100,000 years (although I suppose something could have happened that prevented her from moving around). I hope Greg clears this up next chat.

Or, if Nikila died in a way that revival was not an option. It is also possible that it would take 20,000 years to revive someone. :/

  13. Nova Blasts are by definition out of control, so it's the element radiating from a point. Making everything heavy in a downward direction doesn't apply to this as it would make a controlled field of gravity radiating from a flat surface rather than a point.

    Translation, yeah, black hole. :P

Also, I think it's safe to assume that the five elemental out-of-control blasts of the Kal are essentially what the Toa Nova Blasts of those elements would be, and the gravity Kal's was a black hole.

The trickier ones to figure out are those that make solids, including Stone and Iron, as we don't know if for example Stone would encase everything around in Stone, or create a radiating eruption of boulders, gravel, or what.

I am more interested in how the Toa would survive his own Nova Blast if it was the former case. Just that he is a Toa doesn't mean he is immune to suffocation :/
