    Man, chaos all around x_x

So, I'm planning to attend ECCC this Friday (Yay SEALUG free pass!) and enjoy the event. We're taking 12 of our Superhero Megafigs (the 12x minifig models we make), all Marvel, including a Stan Lee model. They will be on display along with the other SEALUG and ARCHLUG models. I'll see if I can get photos while I'm there, if anybody is interested. Who knows, I may run into other BZP people there, I hope? Like, can I not be lonely that day? : D

Second, I'm also in the final stages of planning for a huuuuge 16 day Lego Expo called Brick by Brick down at the building my studio is in. We're planning to display art plus have build areas for kids to come in during their spring break, plus running select events and artist-led workshops. It's going to be pretty awesome, but at the same time it's also eating up all my free time that I'd rather be elsewhere doing stuff with. I'll also see about getting photos for that, but no promises as we made that a Kickstarter backer reward.

Overall, I'm wiped and I should probably go sleep now. I still have two more megafigs to build, and they're not even for ECCC.

    One guess.

So given Microsoft just lowered the price of the Xbox One back on Saturday, I decided to pick up an Assassin's Creed Unity Kinect-less bundle, $350. It didn't occur to me when I got it they also planned to give me AC4 as a bonus, which given I already had it on the 360 was a nice plus.

I then proceeded to buy Fibbage for $6 and Minecraft XBO edition for $5.

... So basically, I spent almost $400 (with tax) on a brand new console, 4 games, and basically a multipurpose controller (I found I could use my phone charging cable to connect it to my laptop, so YAY BORDERLANDS CONTROLLER <3) and I still have Lego Batman 3 coming in next week.

... Aaand an almost booked solid two months of work, of which I won't see much time in any of these games much before the weekends anyway. Sigh.

During MakutaFest 2014, we had a grand prize giveaway of a Lego sculpture modeled after the Legend of Metru-Nui Vahi. The winner was, of course, VoxuChro.

When I posted the topic for signup, I mentioned I could only ship to North America, due to cost and insurance. However, to make up for this limitation to our non-NA listeners, I agreed to release the instructions to the public so anybody, regardless of country of origin, could get one of they so chose to make one. Therefore, today I publically announce the download link for the Vahi, including a parts list.

I look forward to seeing photos of anybody's attempt at it, and if you can find improvements on the concept I welcome it (I get the feeling I'll be seeing a few dozen gold-recolored LDD models in the next few days, though. Bring it on, I say 8D)

    Build on.

Alright, so if you were part of the randomness that was MakutaFest 2014, you would recall I mentioned something about a grand prize. That grand prize was, of course, a Vahi that was practically life-sized, based on the movie-edition, and made of Lego.

It took me ~1 hour to build from scratch in the studio I work at, and took me all of 30 minutes in LDD to build and pose. I then took it into another program to make instructions of it, so others can build it at home. The only difference between the winner (Voxumo, if you didn't catch that at the show) and yourself is he gets it for free. Sadly you will have to locate parts yourself to build it, but at least I used common enough parts. I didn't price this out on BrickLink and/or PAB yet, so I don't know what the overall cost will be, so if it turns out to be too expensive I am sorry.

Once I mail the prize to Voxumo and receive confirmation that it arrived safely, I will be releasing the Vahi instructions and parts list for all to use. I had fun designing and building it, and I look forward to 2015 where I probably won't be building a Vahi again

Today was day one of Emerald City ComiCon. I didn't waste any time in this fac

I had both 2001 Comic #1 and 2006 Comic #1 signed by their respective artists. Stuart Sayger is an amazing guy to meet, and I regretting not having other comics for him to sign so I could justify more time just talking and getting to learn more. I may consider commissioning art for BS01 from him down the line.'

Carlos D'Anda was also very pleasant to meet, and I was in awe of his other works as well (if I had $300 in cash right there, I'd have gotten an official art sketch he did for Batman Arkham, but alas I'm stuck to $11 in my bank account right now.)

One of the vendors on the fourth floor is selling custom figures, including (gasp) various Lantern Corps members, excepting Indigo Tribe and Star Sapphires. I picked up Green Lantern and White Lantern. I am sad I didn't have an extra $10 on me, or I'd have bought Blue Lantern as well.

And finally, our SEALUG display is now its own floor, with the center attractions being an R2-D2 motorized full-size model, the city of Rivendell by Alice Finch (the same builder behind Hogwarts) and our Minecraft display I may have mentioned prior. If I didn't, we're building Minecraft for ECCC. It's done, by the way

I'll be going back on Sunday. If you're going, I'll be at that Minecraft layout.

So, I'm feeling pretty stoked with some of my buying options.

Tomorrow, I'm going to be buying an Iron Patriot (with gantry) from a friend. That's $22 well worth it right there.

After work, I'll be ordering the Eiffel Tower and Wyldstyle's motorcycle (I can't remember the direct set name off the top of my head) and a Joker keychain for my sister's birthday in June (eh, why not?) in addition to cashing in on the Martian Manhunter fig.

So yeah, that's 2 Superhero figs I'm getting for quite a bit more money than I should be spending on Lego right now.

    .... Everything is (expensive)!

Man, I'm bored. So I updated my blog with new stuff. More Green Lantern related, go figure.

In the real world I am in the middle of summer, so our schedule is down to 3 days a week in the studio. FORTUNATELY I'm busy working on something epic, that being a megafig of Iron Man. I may have described the last four before (Green Lantern, Captain America, The Flash and Logan (Wolverine) in street clothes) so this is a bit more challenging.

For the geeks out there, I'm designing the Iron Man 2/Avengers first-half Mk. VI armor on the torso, with the Mark III/Mark IV legs. The arms are solid dark red, done by another one of the artists. We're also simplifying the design, the back isn't getting as detailed, but the front is heavy in it.

I may recommend changes later on, if we decide to tone down the dark red and make it more yellow (akin to Mark 42) just to give it more color balance.

I'll try to get photos later on, I want to show off the progress as I go. I also desperately want to bring it with me to BrickCon, along with the other four, but it depends on Dan.

So, money got tight this year for practically everybody I know, except my brother who's been promoted to manager of his department, and my grandparents who own stock in the good stuff like PepsiCo, which isn't going anywhere any time soon. Having said that, my gifts this year were modest, small, and will probably expand in time if someone goes out and does something about it.

My brother bought me XCOM: Enemy Unknown and gave me a MS Touch Mouse he bought at the company store when it was on sale for $30. The mouse retails for $80 on a good day, so I'm not complaining. He also plans to buy me a copy of W8 when he can, but I told him I'm in no rush since I'd rather upgrade the RAM first.

My grandparents gave me $35 in cash, which I used $20 on groceries already. I'll be holding on to that $15 for now.

My parents were impacted the hardest with a delayed paycheck causing plans to fall apart at the last minute, so they ended up snagging me three series 8 minifigs, and my understanding. I'm apparently also getting shirts as soon as they get said money. The figs were the Pirate, the bat and the Lederhosen kid. I'm fortunate enough I had none of these guys, plus I ended up not having to buy them at work, where it'd be $5 each (already opened, of course).

Overall, a very tight gift-giving experience, where I ended up seeing myself giving away more gifts than I received. No complaints from me, but I do wish I had at least gotten that Surface RT I asked my brother for

Oh, speaking of that, I did get to muck around with his briefly, and his Lumia 920, and I'm definitely looking forward to W8 and WP7.8 on my phone given the styling of both. I'm not looking forward to upgrading my RAM and wiping my harddrive, however. Sad panda is me.

So, I'm currently off from work right now, both today and tomorrow. The rest of the week, I go in to work and do a workshop, then drop-in play days for kids paying. I also get to manage our train display (I'll link a Photosynth of it later on, need to make a better one.)

In addition to all of that, I also have a Christmas party at my brother's house I'm attending. I'm happily looking forward to that, if only because my brother just scored a Surface RT from work, plus I'd love to play around with his WP8 for a second or two. (I'm a MS geek, I know that, thank you for asking.) After all that, I then work 3 more days, rounding out my end of the year and taking work off from the 29th to the new year. Maybe I'll pick AC3 back up by then. Unlikely.

So yeah, tl;dr I'm busy and happy at the same time. Huzzah.

Looks like I'll be going again.

And we have bigger plans for models this year 8D

Also December will be pretty packed for me as far as work goes. I'm hoping to do a few things for BS01 and HS01 (like finish updating HS01's main page to BS01's standards, and bringing BS01's main page up to completion) but the time's limited.

I didn't even get to finish Halo 4's Spartan Ops episode this week yet. x_x

So yeah, not getting political at all here, just wanted to cash in on the blog titles while I can.

Anyway, long week at work already, and I work 2 more days.

... Who's waiting for LEGO Lord of the Rings? (Comes out on Nov. 13th, it was pushed back) ... Why do I ask? Cause I'm waiting for AC3 on Tuesday 8D (I bought both anyway)

.... AAAAAAAAAAAA WHAT DO TIL THEN?! D:
  12. Swert
Go figure, I get one day off in 5 days' worth of time.

So, tomorrow I stay home and do my own stuff, then tuesday I head in and actually do other things not-really-work-but-work related, then I think I work the rest of the week.

Long story short, I am the brokes and the tireds D:
  13. Swert
    ... I have a few ideas there.

I've been very inspired by the theme. In fact, I'm more inspired even before the theme was finished being presented to us.

... Oh also, the full name is Pigs vs Cows.

... Should have mentioned that before I posted this, yeah?

    Probably.
  14. Swert
... Nah, I'll forget it exists in a week. XD

Anyway, I am all packed up for BrickCon as far as models go, except I need to finish my wacky racer.

I'm also set for the hotel (still figuring out transportation, but it seems pretty safe to me) and all that.

So yeah, I look forward to it next week 8D
  15. Swert
Sorry for the delay winners, but I had good reason.

Two weeks ago my boss looked at me and said "I'm sick of these business cards, make me a new one."

So I did. We just got them last week. And I need to coordinate with him when to sign 6 brand new business cards so I can ship them with the winning prizes.

Basically, it's a logistics problem. It may take me another week or two to get it all out the door. But I am doing the best I can.

    Thank you.

So since I'm stuck on this machine I call SWERT01, I decided to reinstall TF2 onto it. I figure what the hey, I can at least go catch up on my items in the meantime.

Also, this is an actual conversation paraphrased I had earlier today:

"Hey folks, I'm bored and I'm downloading TF2, wanna watch a DVD?"
    "Sure, what?"
    "P·U·L·S·E?"
    "Sure."

    Best. Parents. Ever.

So yeah, watching that concert now. No complaints or thrown stuff at my head so far.

So I just did a major test on my phone beginning yesterday.

Since Sat. morning, approx. 10:00-11:00 AM, it had been off the charger. It lasted 30 hours off the charger with very minimal usage over the weekend. I made about 9 phone calls on it, averaging about 5 minutes each call. I also ran the Skype app for about 20 minutes.

In other words? I love this phone. It lasted long enough in my opinion that it'll be a great addition to my arsenal of devices.

To my buddies at BrickCon and Bricks Cascade, you are welcome to trying it out if you want. It won't leave my sights while you do : |

Starting tomorrow, I'll go back to posting more Death Star photos. We should have the whole thing built up by then.
  18. Swert
So we've wrapped up the final components to the Death Star. It can now be happily assembled by one man in about 30-40 minutes. We'll put that to the test on monday when we finalize its assembly in a larger area.

Once it's done, we can pack it away and progress forward on more projects. Basically speaking, it's time to move on. No more dark side, we have to get going.

And I'm actually looking forward to moving on.

Oh also, my phone. I love it. That is all.
