  1. IC: "Huh. Definitely looks like you were 'bout to," Iskane snorted. This one's anger definitely didn't come out of nowhere. She was likely just redirecting her frustration towards him. "Or you normally get this mad easily?"
  2. "Back, Toa," Iskane interrupted Olari. "It said no. Go ask one of your own," The Vortixx snarled nastily.
  3. TBH that changes the theme I wanted to something entirely different
  4. Vo-Toran? How on earth would Iskane be expected to find that? He couldn't be bothered to remember all the different kinds of Matoran - they were all enemies. Lackeys to Toa, however few that remained. After the Great Spirit Helryx took power, she gladly granted that gift to whatever Matoran that would take it, creating an army of loyal thugs overnight. But speaking of Toa... The Vortixx suppressed a shudder. There were so many of them! All in one space! This Bionifight was too dangerous. But to give their hosts credit, they had managed to corral the savage creatures, stayed their hand. He looked around, hoping to find someone that wasn't one of these oppressors.
  5. Name: Iskane Gender: M Species: Vortixx Power/Weapon 1: Hagah Shield: What it says on the tin. It's capable of firing a Rhotuka, but it has also been modified to act as a boomerang if thrown. Basically, Captain 'Murica Power Weapon 2: Shadowlight Rhotuka: When fired, it creates a trail of murky blackness that cannot be seen through that lasts for a few minutes. Passing through it, fighting in it, leaves a numbing, stinging sensation that only gets stronger the longer you stay exposed in it. Upon hitting an enemy, it explodes in a burst of stinging, searing shadows. Power/Weapon 3: Reverse Snap: A small engine located within Iskane's heartlight, the Snap emits a pulse that reverts all elemental power and control back into raw elemental energy. In practical terms, this disrupts the use of elemental powers for a brief moment, and sends a harmful feedback through the elemental wielder's form as unfiltered energy wracks their body in proportion to the power they were using. This, however, takes a great toll on Iskane, and can feasibly be used only twice a fight. Appearance: Tall and lanky, black and crimson. Bio: In another world, the Toa, seeing that Mata Nui would not respond to their calls, saw fit to take control of the Universe. Helryx's Plan went off without a hitch, and the Brotherhood fell quietly, as Hagah turned on their Makuta masters, killing or imprisoning them. All, save the Makuta Teridax, who had never trusted these Toa. He created a resistance against the Toa and Matoran, striking from the shadows, sabotaging key points or stealing much-needed supplies and viruses. The Reverse Snap is one of Teridax's creations, made to even the playing field between Toa and the rest. Iskane is one of Teridax's runners, working discreetly in the secret war to overthrow the Great Spirit Helryx. Personality: Surly and quiet, Iskane stands on the razor's edge. He lives among so many Toa, the apparent tyrants and conquerors of his universe, but he shows no hints that he resents them. What he does manifests itself as a simple dislike, not the outright hatred he feels.
  6. GIven that "everybody's dead jim" is a pretty lame ending I thought it was a joke
  7. Either way, it does seem like there isn't that much interest in it, so I'll probably have to shelve it for now.
  8. It's a non-issue anyways. "How IC you are" is an absurd metric to go by.
  9. Really, if that's the only complaint you have then I don't think there's any problems. It's a small detail that can be easily changed.
  10. if a crazy bum dives a guy in the middle of the street, is the first thing you think is "OMG the zombies are here!" No it isn't. And if he gets subdued by the police, and the counselor tells you, "Don't worry about it, he just had a bad dosage of meth and was also rabid and went crazy" you'll believe that because that's a more comforting fiction than "oh geez zombies are rising" Similarly nobody's going to think "Oh this thing is freaky, it's clearly actually a monster and not my mind playing tricks on me". It's terrifying, but people will rationalize it as something more scientific, believable. So if someone tells you, "Yeah, terrorists stole some powerful hallucinogenic agent and loosed it into the water supply and tried to cause as much mayhem as possible. That explains what you saw. Now go over here to receive the vaccine". It's a more comfortable fiction than "demon beasts from nowhere decide to wreck stuff up because reasons." You can explain terrorists. They don't like you, they want to make you hurt over the slights that your people did to theirs, and so on.
  11. Erasing evidence? Buying off those that could be, discrediting those that couldn't, and so on. Call it a terrorist attack if you want. I'm sure there's hundreds of videos about "monster" and "ufo" sightings but nobody believes those. At the end of the day, there's destroyed property without answers, and something mundane is more believable than shadow monsters.
  12. Yeah another thing I didn't like was the holy grail made conflict mandatory and yet they'd meet up and sip tea anyways ^^That's why youre going to have to eliminate witnesses. Moreover if you keep making a nuisance of yourself these benefactors may very well put a bounty on you. They managed to spin hours of unchecked rampage as a gang war, but it doesn't mean they want to do it again.
  13. So I was spitballing this idea. Shadows of the Heroes. One night... lets say it's halloween because everyone loves halloween, Monsters appear. Old, terrifying entities that ravage the city. Cops can't stop them. They're the sort out of nightmare and myth. Then... that same night, specters descend upon these beasts, and swiftly dispatch them, all before dawn comes. Surprisingly, there is nothing on the news about such beasts. The destruction and death is somehow attributed to a nasty, brutal gang war or something of the sort, but life goes on. Or so it seems. What do you do when, every night, gibbering horrors try to force their way into the world and eat everyone? You call heroes, of course. But what kind? It's not like Superman will descend upon them and crush some skulls. No, a ritual was given to select people of all kinds, a ritual capable of materializing heroes and legends of old. Lancelot, Beowulf, Roland, and more. They exist as two, a mortal and a hero, a perfect partnership. The hero cannot fight without the mortal, but is many times stronger than they. So why participate? On the humans' side, you get paid. Handsomely. On the heroes' side, they are given a second lease on life, to do what they want, maybe to start anew. Moreover, they need, I dunno, let's call it mana because everyone knows what that is, to subsist, and the easiest way to get it is by killing them. There is only one caveat, however. The mortal world at large cannot know. So it goes - for a short while, everyone was cooperating, even if there was a slight competitive edge to it, as it happens when you put many, larger-than-life personalities next to each other. Then the realization: There aren't enough beasts to sustain everyone. To make matters worse, a rumor comes out, saying that, should a hero kill another, the mana infusion would be incredibly immense and perhaps something even more, so there's a reason for them to fight each other. So the idea is that it's an urban fantasy playground where you can basically write fanfiction of awesome mythic heroes. As it is the plot is kinda shallow because monsters are there for mook fodder since people love mooks. Because you know, it's an urban fantasy playground where you play your favorite hero. It honestly does need a lot of hammering out, though. Moreover, you can definitely bend and twist the legend to an extent. You can reinterpret events to give a different characterization slant. You can genderbend them if you want. Like, for example... a female Galahad, who is so absolutely incorruptible and pure, she can't help but feel disdain and disgust for everyone for not being as perfect as she. A completely alien and dangerous mindset. And so on. Also to wave off some potential questions... Could I be my own partner? No. Why not just make it based on Fate/Stay Night? Lot of reasons. One, the class system is incredibly restrictive. Two, having GM'd a Fate RP before, I honestly do not have a high opinion of Type-Moon. The writer makes rules just so his protagonists can break them. Projection magic is supposed to be absolute garbage except the hero is able to almost perfectly replicate LEGENDARY weapons because plot. Average magi have 25 mana, except for the heroine who has 500, because reasons. Heroes are supposed to be myths, but then you have Archer. Are all heroes created equal? To be honest... not really. It will be a cold, cold day before Lancelot loses a sword fight to Caesar. Can I be a god like Zeus? No. Can I make up a hero? No. Can I, as a regular guy, fight a hero? Yes. Will you survive, barring exceptional circumstances? No. Can I draw from the bible? No. See this? I don't want to open it.
  14. Not yet, I don't see a reason to make something concrete given that I'm expecting 3-5 months before the next rpg closes down. It was just spitballing an idea in response to the complaint that there weren't any. Eclipse? Zehvor has good ideas, but all the same it feels slower-paced / restrictive, so I may have to butcher them instead.
  15. Yeah, hence weakened. The exact level and effects are undetermined, given that I thought of this in about half an hour. A few artistic liberties have been taken, but I'm hoping they're not immersion breaking Either way, it's just an idea, and not likely to develop further for now given that the limit here has been reached?
  16. Can do both, I just named Gorast and Chirox because it makes an easier frame of reference than to make up two random names Because if you bite it in your host body, then that's it. You aren't going to be able to body surf to another so easily. You're weakened, you can't create Rahkshi or Zamor Spheres
  17. Dunno, that'd be forcing things onto people, not to mention that I'd have no feasible way of doing that aside from rolling some dice or something. Anyways, to clarify some things, basically, you're roleplaying two guys in a single body, like... Chirox is infesting a garbageman Matoran, and ends up being incredibly frustrated at being a garbageman, but the Matoran suddenly gets a strange compulsion to collect certain things of great scientific importance. Meanwhile Gorast might take control of a member of the Council, but being a brutish Gorast, she drives the poor guy insane and he ends up being committed.
  18. Set in The Kingdom, after the arrival of Takanuva and Matoro's sacrifice, the Ruling Council, stricken with fear over the nearly averted disaster, set about to banishing all shadows, large or small, turning the island of Mata Nui into a city of perpetual light. The arm of the Council is the Dark Hunters, now named because they hunt and purge out the darkness act as their Inquisition. However, unknown to the denizens of Mata Nui at large, a small number of them have already become possessed by the spirits of Makuta. Weakened, alone, without access to antidermis or kraata... but alive. They do... whatever they want. Seeking a way to topple the Kingdom, to be reborn in all their glory, more of their own brethren, or even continuing as they originally have, they work quietly, so far unnoticed by the long arm of the Dark Hunters. The interaction between the Makuta and their hosts vary; some may speak in whispers, subtly influencing their movements, some may act as a loud voice, sharing equal mindspace, and others may just mindcrush their host, assuming full control.
  19. The Gate was silly and didn't rely on crossovers anyways Just le wow factor of the witch king or whatever
  20. You mean giving matorans and stuff arcanas and stuff? Doesn't really sound like there's a lot of intersectionality between the two to be honest
  21. IC Two opposite directions. One to the Seventh, another to the Second. "It is uncertain that the quarry even knows he has a bomb..." Still clarified. "Another reason why an armed Skakdi would go there?"
  22. IC "Good. Thank you. In the meantime, have you an idea where I should look? A tad unnecessary - Still's sharp ears had picked up what that one skakdi surrounding the other student said... but it would not hurt to have options.
