  1. Late last week in a press release, The LEGO Group shared their intent to "achieve net-zero emissions by 2050" with regards to greenhouse gases. This doubles-down (triples?) on their previous pledge to reduce their emissions by 37% in 2032. The company is working with the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) to develop a plan and goals to keep them on the right track. I look forward to seeing their progress over the next twenty-seven years and hope they reach their objective!

We're two and a half weeks into our Villain Bracket, and it's time to peak at some of the numbers. So far, we've gotten 85 responses that show some expected results and a few surprises. Read on to see my analysis of the polls so far. (And we have more than a few close races, so if you haven't already, make sure to get your vote in!)

  3. Earlier this week The LEGO Group announced the future home of their US headquarters: 1001 Boylston Street, Boston, MA, located in the Back Bay district of the city. The office will open in 2025 and the goal is to close their current Enfield, CT offices by the end of 2026. The press release and accompanying video really push all the perks of the new location, and while it does seem like it has a lot to offer, I certainly won't be surprised if employees don't want to uproot their lives in quiet Connecticut to move to a bustling city. It will be interesting to see how the transition progresses.

  4. Earlier today The LEGO Group announced that VIP would be turning into Insiders, with many of the same features and the same points transferring over to the new program for discounts. In addition, you'll be able to scan the QR codes of LEGO set instructions you own to get additional points, which is a nice bonus. The new initiative launches on August 21st and you can learn more about it right here!

Happy 810nicle Day. Our little treat today is to launch a new voting bracket. Only this time, instead of looking at our favorite heroes from across Bionicle, we'll pick out our favorite villains, at least those at the canister set price levels. The first round is now live, and voting will last for a month. Read on for some more details and a selection of interesting rounds to keep an eye on. And stay tuned to BZPower to see the results and vote in future rounds!

I was super excited when I heard that new Indiana Jones sets were coming out. In part it was Indiana Jones that got me back into collecting system sets back in the day, so I have a certain fondness for the theme. I didn't get the first iteration of the Lost Tomb, so I jumped to get this one. It's got Indy, it's got Sallah for the first time, it's got new Anubis statues, and it's got a Kaukau Easter egg! What more could you ask for??

  8. In celebration of BZPower's 22nd birthday, member Mushy the Mushroom released some artwork she spent over sixty hours working on: the Birthday BZP'23 Profile Picture Pencil Project. So not only did she donate the adorable Hewkii & Macku Dolls that we're giving away, she drew 21 pictures of the avatars of current and former staff to celebrate the anniversary of our community. A huge heartfelt thanks goes out to you, Mushy the Mushroom, and to everyone who makes BZP awesome!

  9. Much like in real life, after twenty-one it's hard to have a big birthday celebration unless it ends in a zero, so we're keeping things simple this year. Free for all members to enter is the BZPower 22nd Anniversary Hewkii & Macku Dolls Giveaway kindly donated by Mushy the Mushroom. These two dolls are adorable and I'm sure they'll make an awesome addition to someone's collection. We are also auctioning off a rare unreleased SDCC Kanoka Disc with 75% of the proceeds going to The Trevor Project. I know of three of these that exist, and I've never seen one for sale before, so I'm hoping we raise a good amount of money for a great cause!

  10. It boggles my mind that twenty-two years later, BZPower is still around celebrating our anniversary. I'd like to thank each and very member of the community, past and present, who has made us who we are and has left their mark on the Bionicle community in the process. It's been such a pleasure to interact with so many of you over the years: on the forums, at conventions, on streams, and more. It's hard to say what the future holds, but I hope there will be more LEGO Bionicle fun on BZPower! Happy birthday!
