  1. Not really following on from the discussion above, but I think a change like this is good since it should give the writers greater ability to make the characters a bit more relatable allowing for stronger and more emotional storytelling hopefully. Makes the weird kind of abstract premise a bit easier to relate to and probably not as jarring with the very familiar/human personality traits the characters had. :P

  2. Bionicle characters are not human and are not directly related to any human culture. All of them however are inspired by various cultures (including the areas you said weren't ie Metru-Nui saga) - some more strongly or directly than others. People tend to interpret translations of characters from fictional worlds to be like themselves (as that is how the stories are portrayed - with a point of view relating the audience to the character) so people should be allowed to interpret them how they like to strengthen that bond. Saying the characters should be translated from the fictional world to the "real world" as a certain race or culture is silly since they aren't meant to be a certain race or culture, they simply take aspects of a variety of cultures and real world ideas and incorporate them into something new. It'd be like saying if an apple was a steak it should be rare since apples aren't cooked  - yeah there's a relation there but an apple isn't a steak in the first place so it's kind of a pointless argument.

(sorry if this post doesn't make much sense not in the best word forming head space. :P )

  3. Yeah as with many others I'm never a fan of the stickers. Additionally I feel like the colour schemes could have a few unnessecary complications which hold back a few of them needlessly (would have been very easy to make them look better is what I mean by that). I think something else that I'm not a huge fan of is how round the shapes used on all of them are - feels a bit different to the my angular shapes used in the past I think - particularly on the masks and armour. That being said that could just be my memory playing tricks on me and is more of a preference thing.

  4. Combining gravity and magnetism on the basis that they both "push/pull" isn't a very strong argument imo since pretty much anything can be reduced to "pushing/pulling" in some way or another. All the fundamental forces and motions of nature are central forces that pull or repel really so that same argument could basically be extended to every element/power.

I agree, the game is very difficult and stops becoming fun at that. It doesn't explore Voya-Nui like the MNOG's did because it focused too much on fighting, and so other than the physical locations, it just became dangerous and uninteresting. I do like the art of the characters/setting though. I just feel the game play and mechanics were better.

Not only is it difficult, but the backtracking is RIDICULOUS. Even worse than MNOG II.

Coming from someone who really liked VNOG (minus some flaws) I was mostly fine with the difficulty - however I agree more depth should have been added to the island. That way the backtracking would have been more of a "free world" kind of feeling where you could explore new things as you went from one are to the other. Either that or just have a more non-linear structure. All in all I'd really like to see another Bionicle RPG like it again with some more story/MNOG like exploration.

  6. I like the start of year reveal the most, but I've noticed I tend to get more excited for the mid year sets. There's usually more mystery and anticipation regarding the start of year since it's usually a new chapter, new location and so many unknowns. Whilst the mid year ones are teased more and generally have some cooler story significance. :P

  7. Release order, it's how it was intended. Reading in chronological order would spoilt some of the twists and turns I imagine for a first read through. As for the books, none of them are too bad, just nice and simple, they should be enjoyable if you enjoy the Bionicle world. :)
