  1. @Vox Yes, sorry about that. I intended to post my strategy for that match earlier, but ultimately ended up prioritizing champion matches. We can negotiate the widgets for that match via PM. Strategy against Flare:

Items: Staff of Illusion and Gravity Shield, apply Cosmic Armor boost to agility General: Electro will begin the match by using his staff to make an illusion of himself fly up into the air while the real Electro circles behind Flare. While Flare is distracted, Electro will cause a pillar of electricity to rise up beneath Flare, catching the fire Slizer by surprise. Electro will then chase Flare around the arena, slowing him down with lightning and gravity bolts. He will then create several "walls" of electricity that will close in around Flare and trap him, then finish him off with one huge lightning bolt. Counters:Physical attacks - Considering that Flare's strength is even lower than Electro's, physical attacks should be easy for Electro to block with his shield.Fire projectiles - Block with the shield while dashing in closer, taking the opportunity to hit Flare with an omnidirectional spark wave.Fire tornados/"trails" - Dodge using Electro's higher agility, using a burst of sparks from his wings as a "booster" if necessary.Staff of Molecular Disruption - If the Flare destroys the Staff of Illusion, Electro will replace the illusion at the start of the match with a trio of thunderheads, which should do just as good a job of distracting Flare. If Flare disables the Gravity Shield, Electro will use electric force fields to block instead of his shield.

    Strategy against Von Nebula:

Items: Subzero Spear and Gravity Shield, apply Cosmic Armor boost to mind General: Despite the class gap, Von Nebula's mind is high enough to deal considerable damage to Electro. For this reason, Electro will be fighting more defensively than usual, taking advantage of his agility to avoid Von Nebula's attacks and keep the former hero off balance. Electro will start the match by creating a bright flash of lightning to blind Von Nebula before taking to the air and generating a storm. Using the clouds as camouflage, Electro will use his spear to rain down an opening salvo of electrified ice shards. If Von Nebula finds the cloud that Electro's hiding in, the Slizer will dash towards another cloud before VN can bring him down. In this manner he will alternate between firing volleys of lightning, disks, and gravity bolts while staying out of reach. If VN does manage to bring Electro down, the Slizer will immediately surround himself in a barrier of electricity and ram it into VN, catching his opponent off guard and giving Electro the opportunity to take to the air again. Electro will then give his spear a positive charge before throwing it at VN. He will then release all of the built up electricity inside the clouds, generating several large lightning bolts which will be attracted to the spear-turned-lightning-rod planted in the ground next to VN. Considering that the defensive options of gravity are limited, that should be enough to fry VN to a crisp. Counters:Midak Skyblaster - Being blinded could become a nuisance, so Electro will need to make a priority of dodging Midak whenever possible. Thankfully, the skyblaster fires spheres of light rather than beams of light, so it does not actually shoot projectiles at the speed of light. Therefore, it should be possible for Electro to dodge them with his agility.Gravity blasts/impact vision/axe blasts - Electro will coat the Gravity Shield in electricity and use it to block, negating the attacks using his slightly higher mind. Fun fact from BioSector: Gravity is one of the few elements that cannot absorb itself.

  2. Strategy against Von:

@Pulsate *againt a backdrop of flames* VON IS NOT A FIRST NAME!(Sorry, incorrect German word usage sets me off for some reason).Well, now that that's sorted out, would you care for a champion match? I'll extend the same offer to Vox, too. :)
  3. @Dual

Electro: "Who, me? Isn't the sponsor usually supposed to handle this?"

*from offscreen* Electro, you're not turning down a champion battle, are you?

    Electro: "No, master." <_<

    Strategy against Onua:

Items: Gravity Shield and Staff of Density Control, apply Cosmic Armor boost to mind.

General: As with most serious matches, Electro will surround himself with an electric force field at the beginning of the match. Electro will also use sparks from his wings as something of a "booster engine" to help him better evade Onua's attacks. Using these defensive measures, Electro will fly around the arena, keeping up a constant barrage of lightning, disks, and gravity bolts. If Electro finds he is losing momentum, he will use his staff to become indestructible and use the opportunity to generate a storm, using the clouds as cover and letting the storm do the majority of the work.

    Counters:

Physical attacks - Block using the shield, channeling a surge of electricity and gravity through the shield to blast Onua away.

Kadin - Electro will weigh Onua down with gravity bolts to make the Toa more sluggish. Electro will then surround Onua with storm clouds, trapping the Toa and giving him one heck of a shock.

Tunnels/caverns/etc. - If Onua creates any structures out of earth, Electro will not enter them. I repeat: Electro will not enter them. Rather than following Onua into a trap, Electro will stay back and wait for Onua to appear again, taking that opportunity to ambush the Toa with lightning bolts.

@SonicBOOM Thank you for the match. Considering that elemental effectiveness is determined by mind, I imagine that the lightning went through Skrall's defenses fairly easily. It's sort of like trying to stop a tsunami with paper towels. ;)

  4. Alright, just a few questions: Can free trainers be applied to another fighter? I think I saw someone do that last time, but I just wanted to be sure it was still legal. If so, can I choose the +1s and split them up between fighters (since Gali obviously can't use mind trainers)? Would Gali get the Hordika bonus on those trainers? As for the free item, I'd like a Gravity Shield, please.

  5. This opens up the potential for a LOT of shield-related Keetongu awesomeness in the future. But... Speaking of Keetongu, I've always been curious about his power's upper limit - there is no way the Great Beings/Mata Nui/Makuta could possibly have made him capable of absorbing one of the GSR grav blasts with his shield... Also, even further off-topic, if Keetongu's species was killed by Visorak, which presumably means in ways that DO leave a body to repair, would that mean that a whole load members of Keetongu's species are up in the RS?

That raises an interesting question: Who exactly does the RS consider "beings"? Unless there's a whole lot of rahi crammed into the RS, it would appear that it is only meant to revive members of sapient species. How it determines who is sapient or not is mystery, but to me it seems most likely that it was programmed to retrieve species that were created by Mata Nui. Considering that all rahi were created later by the Makuta, Mata Nui probably just gave the RS information on the sapient species he created himself and not the rahi created by the Makuta. Since Keetongu's species is technically a type of rahi, it's possible that the RS would not recognize them as sentient life and therefore not worth reviving.

  6. It's quite possible that the design was imprinted in the minds of all Av-Matoran, and Takua just happened to be the one who found the Mask of Light and "unlocked" the designs. This could also explain part of the rationale behind scattering the Av-Matoran, as the Ussanui would provide a means for the Toa of Light to track down the Makuta and kill them.

I wonder if Takua's light-based ability actually did manifest as a Matoran, as there were plenty of instances where he came in contact with Toa. This could neatly tie up some plot elements that were never explained, such as the mental link between Takua and Gali.

  7. SonicBOOM and I have agreed to a match: Gali vs. Skrall in the Storm Sector, 1500W from me and 500W from him. Strategy:

Items: Staff of Density Control and Subzero Spear General: The rain should give Gali plenty of water to use to attack. Her first move will be to detach her left hook and connect it to her hand with a water whip. She will extend the hook-whip so that it latches onto Skrall's neck and pulls the Glatorian towards her, taking the opportunity to hit him over the head with her staff. She will then make several other water whips erupt out of the ground, suspending Skrall in the air while she continues to assault him with her staff and spear. She will also take this opportunity to use her hooks to remove Skrall's shield and attach it to her back, using more tendrils to pry it away if necessary. When Skrall breaks free, she will distract him by intensifying the rain and fall back. In this second phase of the fight Gali will use the rain to lower visibility. This will allow Gali capitalize on her ability to "feel" the water in the battlefield and use it to avoid Skrall and pinpoint his position, targeting him with high-pressure jets of water and using her agility to stay out of reach. Since Skrall lacks any long-range weapons, she should be able to slowly whittle away Skrall's health without fearing a counterattack. Once she has weakened him sufficiently, Gali will use her spear to freeze Skrall and use her staff to become indestructible before closing in on his position. She will mainly use her spear for offense and guard against his attacks using the stolen shield. Counters:Disarmament - If Skrall attempts to disarm Gali, she will latch onto the weapon using tendrils of water and pull it back to herself, using the opportunity to counterattack with her spear, staff, or finblades.Stone attacks - Since any elemental attacks will be fueled by Skrall's poor mind stat, they should be fairly easy for Gali to block using her staff or, in the second phase, Skrall's own shield.

    Confirming match with Wraith. Strategy:

Items: Staff of Density Control and Subzero Spear General: Since the Pit is a better environment for a fighter with high agility, Gali will use her element to immediately pop the bubble at the start of the match. She will then manipulate currents to propel her, allowing her to make the most of her natural agility to avoid Kiina's elemental attacks. She will mainly use her staff as a defensive tool, rotating it in her left hand to parry Kiina's blows, while the spear will be her main offensive weapon, focusing on swift jabs and forward thrusts. If Kiina manages to slip through Gali's defense, the Toa of Water can also block using her finblades. After a while Gali will use her staff to turn the water around Kiina into ice, giving Gali an opening to plunge the spear into the Glatorian's chest. Counters:Lightning shield - When the lightning shield is used underwater, it will most likely produce a wide shockwave and be very hard to dodge. To counter that, Gali will use her staff to become intangible and use that opening to get close to Kiina and remove the Glatorian's shield with her hooks.Heat vision - The environment should weaken Kiina's heat vision considerably, and if Kiina chooses to use it Gali will deflect the beams using her staff.

Yet again, my strategies always seem extremely intense and violent when using Gali. Is it just the shift from "casting" to close combat, or is there something wrong with me? twilightoops.png

  8. Shoot, really thought I had it that time. Good match, Wraith. :)

@Shadowhawk Apparently Gali really hates tea, and her reaction to the taste briefly broke my control over her. *suddenly intense* A mistake I will not repeat again...

*again overly cheerful* But don't worry, Corvus Industries has already agreed to cover all the damages! ....and the blood transfusion....and the organ donations.... *sigh*

Electro had better win that prize money.... :dontgetit:

  9. Confirming with Pulsate: Gali vs. Flare in the City-Realm, 1,200W from me, 300W from Pulsate.Strategy:

Items: Suletu and KadinGeneral: Use the Suletu. Gali will use her element to cover the battlefield in mist, giving her cover to hide behind, a means to sense Flare's movements, and more of her element to use. A small cloud of this mist will follow her the entire match. She will generate small spheres of water scattered around the arena, which will converge around the Slizer and slow him down. Gali will take this opportunity to chase Flare with her Kadin, sink her hooks into his back, and slam Flare repeatedly into the sides of the skyscrapers. She will then entangle Flare's wings with tendrils of water and drop him beneath a wrecking ball, snapping the chain with her hooks to send it hurling down after the Slizer.Counters:Projectiles - Duck into the mist and use her water sense to dodge.Fire barrier/cloak - Extinguish using her personal mist cloud.Arena obstacles - Sense using her personal mist cloud and evade with Kadin.

For future reference, if the Suletu is in the "items" field, can we just assume that Gali will trigger it at the start of the match?

@Shadowhawk Is that so? I've found that Gali is rather subdued.*motions toward Electro and Gali drinking tea at a cafe*Waiter: "One lump or two?"Gali: "Skreee!" *pounces on the waiter*Electro: *facepalm*Er, let's just ignore that, shall we? :D

  10. A comedy about RPGs featuring Exo/Pahry's signature sarcasm? HOW DID I NOT NOTICE THIS SOONER? Some of my favorite parts so far:1. Nice comedic timing, plus plenty of gamer humor. 2. Yes, the big bad can hear you through the screen. Don't ask how.3. Good point about how dismembering characters gets downplayed in Lego. I remember being really disturbed the first time I saw the Piraka animations.4. Yandere Vhisola. That is all.5. I always did find it funny how the badguys always give the heroes tips, especially in the form of an oddly specific denial. "It's not like you could ever collect the artifacts to defeat me, hidden in key points of interest on the world map. Here, let me point them out to you. I'll just stay here and give you the time to find them before carrying out my evil plan...mwahaha?"6. The tutorial box is going to turn out to be the secret boss, isn't it?

  11. Lewa. I really liked how his optimism was portrayed as both a strength and a weakness, helping him get through some tough situations but also making him prone to take risks. Better yet, he learned from his mistakes and became a better character over time, making him more a more relatable character overall.

  12. I'm probably most like Gali, despite acting like Lewa most of the time. I sort of instinctively try to support and comfort the people around me, and always end up being the peacemaker in group settings. I also have the slight temper which Gali displayed in many of her earlier appearances, especially when dealing with headstrong people.

..yeah, kinda odd that I relate most to one of the few female characters, but there you go. :P

  13.

Hehe, just realized that I was expecting a logical debate on the internet. Never mind, I'm sure the S&T guys hashed this out ages ago.Besides, it really comes down to whether Pahrak wants cold radar/cold adsorption in the game or not. So Pahrak, would you like to effectively grant all ice-users heat powers too?

Hey, first time for everything, eh? Plus, I think that for simplicity sake that it'd just end up being thermal vision. Plus I dunno how a 'cold radar' would work.

Doubtful that Ice-users could generate heat - using friction would melt the ice. Plus Fire-users can't control the climate - they can draw in the heat, sure, but that's it.

Huh...so are you saying that Toa of Ice could absorb "coldness" to the point that the object is no longer cold, yet not so far as to generate heat?

  14. @Kapura I've already said that I have lost interest in this argument, so go ahead and say whatever you like. ^_^EDIT: Sorry, that was rather petty.

  16. @Dual I'm curious which cases you are referring to, as for me no such instances come to mind.Something to consider is that cold and ice are fundamentally different things. Ice is the solid form of water. It's been established that Toa can absorb a limited amount of their element, even if it's physical matter, so absorbing ice makes sense. "Cold", however, is simply a term used to refer to an uncomfortable lack of heat. Absorbing cold is illogical, since it's neither energy nor matter, but just a human perception of the lack of heat. While the former may have been done in canon, I'd be surprised if Greg actually used the latter in the Bionicle story.

  17. Uh guys....the tournament date is at the top of the first post. There is no registration deadline otherwise.

@Wraith Good match. Definitely need to come up with some alternative strategies for Gali. Kokonoe mode enabled:

112px-0%2C184%2C0%2C211-Kokonoe_%28Chibi%29.png"You're quite fast. Not very powerful, though... Would you like me to fix you up a bit?" *starts muttering something about hydraulics*

  18. Confirming the match with Wraith. I will also be contributing 1000W.

    Spoiler:

Items: Suletu and Staff of Density Control

General: As usual, Gali will use the Suletu to balance out her mind and that of her opponent. Since the Storm Sector is a site of constant thunderstorms, Gali should have more than enough water to use to fuel her attacks. Gali will begin the match by surrounding herself in a suit of water, then manipulating the water on the ground into a sort of "conveyer belt" to propel herself towards Lava. She will then make the water beneath the Roborider explode upwards and launch herself into the air using jets of water to deliver a series of blows with her staff. She will continue using this strategy of immobilizing Lava with her powers so that she can move in to attack with her staff. If she finds she is losing ground, Gali will generate a sphere of water around the Roborider, dash towards him while increasing her density, and pummel him into submission with her staff.

    Counters:

Evasive tactics/"drifting" - Saturate the ground with water to slow the Roborider down and possibly make him lose control.

CreateRoads.exe - Gali will intensify the storm to make it difficult for Lava to stay in the air.

Lightning Shield - Like last time, Gali will use her elemental power to create a barrier made of pure water.

Fire attacks/heat vision - Gali will counter Lava's elemental attacks with walls of water, which should neutralize his attacks due to having the same mind stat.

@Phantom Nope, Pahrak said he's accepting registrations up until the first day of the tournament, which will be June 3rd. ^_^

@Wraith The odd part is that we don't really know whether biomechanical bodies give off electricity or not. I mean, usually machines that use electricity give off electromagnetic "noise", but the beings from the MU could just as easily run off a different form of energy. Then there's the whole deal with "elemental energy" and "toa power", not to mention the "light" and "dark" that are apperantly present in most beings...

  19. Well, since Canis won't be participating in the E bracket, I guess I'll enter Electro for the free trainers. Hopefully I can still make some good money through champion matches...Looks like the A and B brackets will be fairly active this tourney. Should be fun to watch. ;)

  20. @Canis It really comes down to which thing you value more: Your sentimental attachment to Virus or the potential strategies you could use with Pridak. Both are pretty subjective, so I can't really give any advice about it.Is there a particular Kanohi you want to use?

  21. Yay! Thank you for the match, Dual. For future reference, almost all water has impurities. "Pure" water can only be made through distillation. Also, for game purposes conductivity seems to be based purely on the mind stats of the fighters involved. Stormer's mind is lower than Electro's, therefore the lightning hit through the shield (not to mention that the heat from lightning would melt ice anyway).+2 agility trainer for Gali, please.
