  1. Pulsate and I have agreed to a tag match with Dual Matrix. The teams will be Flare and Electro vs. Onua and Stormer. We have agreed not to use items. Pulsate will be contributing 1000W, while I will be giving 500W.

Items: As per the agreement with Dual, there will be no items. Apply Electro's Cosmic Armour boost to agility. General: First, Electro will hit Onua in the eyes with lightning, momentarily blinding him. Then, Flare will surround Stormer with a fire tornado to distract him while Electro flies up into the air and generates a storm. Once the storm gains some force, Electro and Flare will dart between clouds and take every opportunity to snipe their opponents with lightning bolts and fireballs. Considering Stormer's low agility and toughness he will most likely be the first to fall, after which point Electro and Flare will combine their elements to finish off the Toa of Earth using electrified jets of fire, ball lightning wreathed in flames, heat lightning, etc. Electro specific: Electro will mainly target Onua throughout the match, as he is the only one with high enough mind to damage the Toa. Electro will intercept Onua and Stormer's elemental attacks with walls of electricity and deflect them back towards his opponents if possible. If Flare appears to be struggling, Electro will create an electric forcefield around Flare's body to make up for his poor toughness. If either Onua or Stormer attempt to restrain Electro, he will create an electric field around his body and will it to expand, pushing all obstructions away and giving Electro a window to escape into the sky. Flare specific: Since Flare's mind is no match for Onua, he will focus the majority of his fire on Stormer. He will focus on evading Stormer's attacks and striking the hero from behind. If Onua grabs ahold of Flare, the slizer will superheat his body to try to make the hero let go. If in the case that Flare gets defeated while Electro is still standing, just before defeat Flare will set his spear alight and give it to Electro as an extra weapon. In the unlikely case that Electro gets defeated before Flare, Flare will make one last effort to overexert himself and try and dedicate all his mind, agility and toughness to dodging all of Onua's strength based toughness. If that doesn't work, Flare will allow Onua to grab him, then Flare will superheat himself, ala Tahu vs. Nektann.

  2. Flaredrick and I have agreed on a match: Gali Hordika vs. Tahu Nuva in the Charred Forest stage. I'm kinda broke, so I'll be contributing 350W while Flare provides 1000W.

I can kind of imagine how this encounter would go:

Tahu: Stop sister, this isn't like you!

    Gali: SCREEEEE! *lunges at Tahu*

    Strategy:

Items: Suletu and Staff of Density Control

General: As usual, use the Suletu to drain away Tahu's mind and give it to Gali, leaving Tahu only a minor edge in strength.

Gali's first move will be to detach her hooks, connect them with a short whip of water, and then throw the improvised bola around Tahu's ankles. Gali will then wrap herself in a barrier of water and rush in on Tahu. She will knock him down with her staff, throw him up into the air using water whips, and then land several more blows with her staff and finblades. The important part here will be for Gali to block Tahu's weapons with her staff and continue dealing damage with her finblades, which should ultimately allow her to get more hits in. If Tahu appears to be gaining ground, Gali will use her Staff of Density control to briefly become indestructible and land another series of blows with her staff, finblades, and water whips.

    Counters:

Fire attacks - Block with water barriers whenever possible, which should be effective considering the equal mind stats and the natural properties of fire and water.

Hero Cuffs - Use the Staff of Density Control to become intangible and escape, cutting the staff from the latter part of her strategy.

Arena traps - Set up a large water barrier while she cuts apart the trap.

Thornax - Deflect what she can with barriers and her staff.

  3. ok Canis and i have agreed to to a match between virus and von nebula (which for future reference can i just call him Von?)

I wouldn't recommend it: "Von" just means "from" in German. His name literally translates to "_____ from the Nebula." Kind of ironic considering that most of the heroes have first names, yet Nebby doesn't. :P

@ Negative Would you like to have Electro as a partner? We could discuss a strategy via PM.

  4. I agree with Canis on most points with two disclaimers:1. No number of stat trainers or items can make up for a lack of creativity. Don't stick to the base applications of your powers; try using them in new and exciting ways. Virtually any element can become fairly versatile if you experiment with it a bit. Pahrak will pull you back if you go overboard, so try everything you can!2. Two words: lurk more. Unless you're in a match against them, you've free to look at people's strategies as much as you want. Find out what people like to do, what works, and what doesn't. I can't even count the number of times Electro's beaten a fighter with much better stats by predicting that fighter's moves. Finally, the most important super-secret tip to succeeding in the coliseum:

HAVE FUN. I know that sounds basic, but the game's kinda pointless if you take it too seriously. A lot of players have gotten frustrated and left because they were too fixated on winning. Enjoy meeting other players, coming up with new strategies, and seeing your fighters grow. :)

  5. ToaKapura and I have agreed to a champion match: Matoro vs. Electro.

    Strategy:

Items: Staff of Illusion and Staff of Density Control

General: Electro will float up into the air and use his Staff of Illusion to send several duplicates of himself flying towards Matoro, while the real Electro sneaks around the Toa and grabs him from behind. Electro will then lift the Toa high into the air, electrify both of them, and then dive back towards the ground at full speed. Right before they hit the ground, Electro will use his Staff of Density Control to harden himself and make Matoro take the brunt of the impact. After that point, Electro will fly around the arena and hit Matoro with lightning bolts from a distance.

    Counters:

Freezing - Run an electric current through the frozen part of his body to shatter the ice.

Frozen floor - Remain in the air to avoid the floor.

Snowstorm - Surround himself with a coat of electricity to absorb the damage.

P.S. Also, Pahrak, didn't that last stat trainer put Electro over the upper limit for Class D?

  6. Yeah, I figured I was laying the real-world physics on a little thick there. Good match, Pulsate.Buying a +3 agility trainer for Electro.@Dual Okay, I'll consider that match cancelled.

  7. @ToaKapura Would you like a match against Electro? It is free money, after all.@Dual I think we also agreed to a match between Gali and Stormer a while back...should I dig up the old strategy post? Pahrry said that the match would be calculated using the fighter's current stats.Confirming match between Gali and Chiara in Naho Bay.Strategy:

Items: Kadin and Subzero SpearGeneral: Chiara's only advantage is mind, but this match will be tricky considering Chiara's element. First, Gali will fly into the air and use her element to generate a layer of pure water around her body. This is where it gets interesting: Water is only a conductor due to the impurities it typically has. Pure water has no such impurities, and is therefore actually a perfect insulator. So, a suit of pure water is, ironically, the perfect way to counter Chiara's lightning. Now sufficiently protected from Chiara's attacks, Gali will be able to dash toward the Toa and land a series of madair blows with her spear (which will also be encased with pure water). After she has dealt some considerable damage in this fashion, Gali will fly back up into the air. She will then throw the Subzero Spear at Chiara, willing it to freeze the Toa on impact. Finally, Gali will use her control over water to flip the lilly pad and pull Chiara underwater (considering ice's natural buoyancy, she'll have to consciously use her element to keep Chiara under). Gali will let the water rahi do the rest.Counters:Illusions - Use Gali's connection with her element to feel the ripples in the water beneath the lilly pad, which will reveal the real Chiara's movements.Camouflage Badge - Same as above.

  8.

This was a fun arena to work with. I can do some very interesting things with fire here.

Hehe, glad to hear you enjoyed it, I was wondering how I'd do fighting in the arena I designed. Congratulations on your victory. :)@Shadowhawk Welcome to the fray! By the way, you can name some specific features of the transformation if you want to. You can't grant any new powers with it, but some new "natural" weapons can be helpful in a fight (e.g. Gali's finblades).
  9. Good match, Vox.Confirming my match with Pulsate. We agreed on Pulsate paying 100W and I paying 900W

Items: Suletu and Kadin General: Gali will be using a similar strategy to the one from her fight with Breez: Saturate the air with water vapor and use her connection with her element to "feel" the surrounding area. This should make up for her lack of eyesight and also counter Flare's edge in agility. Seeking Flare out with the mist, Gali will send out a tendril of water to latch onto Flare and pull him towards her. She will then take of using her Kadin and land several physical blows, targeting Flare's wings to hamper his agility and hopefully make him drop his spear. She will then rise into the air and dive-bomb the Slizer with a jet of water, aiming it so that Flare will land in a patch of webbing. She will then finish Flare with a flying tackle. Counters:Fireballs - Counter with water barriersStaff of Illusion - Use her water "radar" to detect the real Flare and target him.

  10. Vox and I have agreed to a match, Gali vs. Von Nebula, 1000W each.

    Strategy:

Items: Suletu and Staff of Density Control

General: Considering Von Nebula's massive mind stat, Gali's first priority will be to even her mind stat using the Suletu. She will then use her improved control over her element to cover the ground with a layer of water, using whirlpools to pull down Nebula's ankles to reduce his edge in agility. Using a wave to propel herself, she will dash towards Von Nebula and throw him into the air with an uppercut, lift herself on a pillar of water, and slam Von Nebula back to earth using her staff. She will spin on a whirlpool to deliver a butterfly kick, then pummel Nebula into submission with her staff, hooks, and fins.

    Counters:

Low gravity - Levitate bubbles of water to use as "footholds" to jump from.

Gravity attacks - Escape first by becoming intangible, then use water barriers to reduce the damage.

Skakdi spine/axe blasts - Same as above.

  11. Also; Okay, I can understand not being able to sell limited use items. I honestly wasn't trying to sell the upgrades or training though, I just wasn't sure if fighters were reset if unsponsored. I think you've had this topic before, but I can't remember.

Ah, yes, Pahrak originally wanted to have fighters keep their upgrades upon being unsponsored, but too many people complained about it. So he decided to strip fighters of their upgrades and items when they lose sponsorship.
  12. ....and just a reminder, the fighters are Gali and Evo. Match confirm'd. ;)

    Strategy:

    Items: Kadin and Suletu

General: Gali will use the Suletu to remove Evo's advantage in mind. Her first move will be to rise into the air with her Kadin, surround herself with a water barrier, and then spin her arms and legs as she dives towards the hero to slice him up with her fins. She will then stab her hooks or fins into the hero's armor before rising up into the air again, slamming the hero in the side of the arena multiple times while airborne. She will then send the Evo crashing into the arena floor with a high-powered jet of water.

    Counters:

Evo freezing Gali's water attacks - Cancel the attack and get some physical blows in before using her element again.

Evo freezing all or part of Gali's body - Gali will use her elemental power to create water from the part of her body covered by ice, forcing the ice to expand and shatter.

Snowstorm - Gali will protect herself with a spinning barrier of water, which should not freeze due to being in a constant state of motion.

Projectiles - Same as above, bearing in mind that attacks fueled by equal mind stats should cancel eachother out.

  13. *sees results**faints*But really, thank you for the matches, everyone. :)I'll go ahead and get +1 strength and agility trainers for Gali, which become +2s after the Hordika boost.

  14. Dynamite.

I'll use my winnings to buy Gali some Hordika Venom, giving her bladelike fins on her wrists and ankles (think Hydraxon in miniature).

  15. Okay, let's keep these matches rolling! Electro vs. Torch

Items: Staff of Illusion, Staff of Density Control, apply Cosmic Armor boost to toughness General: Electro will begin the match by using the Staff of Illusion to send a swarm of duplicates flying around the arena, while the the real Electro stays back and snipes Torch with lightning bolts and disks. Once Torch is weakened Electro will fly above him, cover himself in lightning-mail, and increase his density as he dives towards the fire Slizer with his staves and tail pointed ahead. Counters:Long-range fire attacks: Deflect with bolts from his wings.Disks: Dodge or deflect with staves.

    Electro vs. Kopaka

Items: Staff of Illusion, Staff of Density Control, use Cosmic Armor to boost toughness General: Electro will cover himself in a shield of electricity, which should hopefully absorb Kopaka's elemental attacks and impact vision for a while. Electro will stay at a distance, weaving around Kopaka's attacks and targeting the Toa with lightning bolts and electrified disks. Counters:Snowstorm - Use the staff of illusion to make to make the snowstorm invisible to Kopaka, which should briefly confuse the Toa and hopefully make him cancel the attack. The barrier wears out - Use the Staff of Density control to become invulnerable briefly as Electro unleashes one last desperate volley of lightning bolts.

Probably should have asked this a while ago, but disks deal damage based on the thrower's strength, right?

  16. Worldsoul, I take it you're accepting all champion matches? If so I'd be interested in a match between Electro and Torch.Strategy against Millennium:

Items: Staff of Density Control, Subzero Spear, apply Cosmic Armor boost to toughnessGeneral: Electro will begin the match by trapping Millennium in an electric field. He will then blast Millenium with a burst of cold air from the Subzero Spear, targeting his opponent's joints to reduce Millennium's agility. Electro will then encase himself in an electric shield as he flies up into the sky and begins generating a storm. He will then proceed to rain lightning bolts down on Millennium.Counters:Solid light chains/lava stone/other forms of entrapment - Use the Staff of Density control to turn intangible and escape. If it occurs again release a burst of electricity to break the chains.Illusions - Switch to the lightning storm phase early, since lightning will be more likely to strike Millennium's metal body. If the Subzero Spear was not used earlier, use it to rain down a shower of ice spikes.

  17. I'll apply the +5 to mind, use Electro's bonus point on toughness, and get a Subzero Spear as my free item.

After those changes are applied, I'd be happy to fight Canis. Does Pahrak have to sanction the match before we can post strategies?

  18. Not intentionally. You see, I click on that little down arrow that's on the posts in the main topic, and it doesn't hide spoilers. I accidentally saw the first sentence or two of her strategy on there while trying to get to the first unread post. I tried to write the strategy generally, as if I hadn't seen the first sentence of her strategy, but since I had seen the hook-whips part (and because I'm lazy), I thought that the hook whips were Gali's weapon, since I forgot that weapons weren't reforged for toa (Or are they?). It kinda confused me that they were "Hook-whips," but since I'm lazy and didn't double-check the sponsor list, I made assumptions. If that's disqualification worthy, I'll just pay Keizah the money without question, and give an apology. For that matter, I need to apologize to Keizah for the mistake anyway. I'm sorry about not telling you about seeing the first part of your strategy, Keizah. -Elrond

You seem sincere, and it doesn't sound like there was any malicious intent on your part. I accept your apology. :)Now it's time for the battle of the quadrupeds.Strategy (Electro Spectrum vs. Granite)

Items: Staff of Illusion, Staff of Density Control, apply Cosmic Armor boost to toughness. General: Electro will distract Granite with a swarm of illusionary copies while dashing around to Granites's backside, then send the stone Slizer flying with a column of electricity from his blind spot. Electro will then take to the air, chipping away at Granite's defenses with bolts of electricity. Electro will finish Granite with one last massive bolt of lightning. Counters:Energy bolts - Neutralize with bursts of sparks from his wings.Stone projectiles/disks - Use the staff of density control to turn intangible the first time, then swerve/hop/spin around later projectiles.Stone walls - Hit with electrically charged disks, should be easy to pierce with Electro's high mind.
