  1. Can I sell items?

Yes, although you will get back only half of what you paid for them.

EDIT: Whoops, didn't see that Pahrak was online. My bad.

  2. Elrond and I have agreed to a match, on the condition that I not use staves. Gali vs. Evo, 1000W each.

    Strategy:

Items: Since she can't use staves, Gali will be bringing her Suletu and Kadin into this match.

General Strategy: Gali will use the Suletu to make their mind stats even. She will take off her water hooks and connect them to her hands using whips of water, extending the reach of her weapons. Using her high agility to make the first move, Gali will rush in towards Evo and pull his feet out from under him with her improvised hook-whips. She will then catch Evo's shoulders in her hooks and fly up into the air using her Kadin, repeatedly swinging Evo into the walls of the arena to damage him. She will then spin each of her hooks to build momentum before sending it at the hero, alternating between her weapons to keep up a continuous assault.

    Counters:

Evo freezing Gali's whips - Shatter the whips and create new ones.

Evo freezing all or part of Gali's body - Gali will use her elemental power to create water from the part of her body covered by ice, forcing the ice to expand and shatter.

Snowstorm - Gali will protect herself with a spinning barrier of water, which should not freeze due to being in a constant state of motion.

Projectiles - Same as above, bearing in mind that attacks fueled by equal mind stats should cancel eachother out.

  3. Zakaro and I have agreed to a match: Gali vs. Breez on Quatros, 1000W each.

    Strategy:

Gali will use the Suletu to remove Breez's advantage in mind. Gali's first move will be to force the water in the plants around Breez to suddenly expand, causing the plants to forcibly burst and trap Breez in a disorienting explosion. More importantly, this will also cause the already humid air of the rainforest to become saturated with water vapor, giving Gali more water to work with. Since Breez's high agility will make her hard to hit with projectiles, Gali will use her connection with vapor to "feel" the disturbances in the air caused by Breez's movements. This will make it easier for Gali to evade Breez's physical and elemental attacks, as she should be able to predict Breez's movements.

Using this improved accuracy, Gali will cause several small or medium-sized spheres of water to appear in Breez's path until one catches the hero, at which point she will command the rest of the spheres to converge on Breez and trap her in a large sphere of water. Gali will then dive into the sphere and barrage Breez with blows from her hooks and Staff of Illusion, using the environment to slow down Breez and increase her own speed. If Breez manages to escape the sphere, Gali will use the Staff of Illusion to make Breez see duplicates of the sphere in all directions and use tendrils of water to pull the hero back into the original sphere.

  4. Electro's stat total is at the upper limit of Class C.

Yeah...I noticed that but figured I could potentially earn more money in Class C.

Also, I'm back, so Gali and Electro are now open to challenges.

  5. Well, I guess you can never be too early: I will be entering Cosmo Electro Spectro Expresso the Great Supreme in the tournament (and you thought the first name was pretentious). :PJust kidding. But yes, I will take the obvious option and enter Electro in the tournament.

  6. Alright! Thank you for the match, Canis.

On to the next one: I have agreed to a match with Wraith. Gali vs. Power, Atero Arena, 1000W, only I am contributing.

Gali will be bringing her Kadin and the Staff of Illusion into this fight.

Gali will begin the match by creating the illusion of a concrete cube around Power, which should hold him off and prevent him from moving for a while. Gali will take that opportunity to summon tendrils of water from the tip of her staff and then slide them along the ground, collecting rocks and pieces of metal to turn it into a nine-tailed lash of sorts. She will then dash toward Power and attack him with the lash, focusing her attacks on damaging his weapons and back wheel to keep him from running away. If the RoboRider manages to escape, Gali will use her Kadin to chase after him and use her elemental powers to turn the ground beneath him into mud. She will repeat this strategy as necessary, relying on her higher toughness and agility to avoid taking too much damage.

Note: Is it just me, or do I tend to get extra aggressive when I'm playing as Gali? It's certainly a change from her canon personality and fighting style...

  7. Confirming my match with Canis:

Strategy: Electro Spectrum vs. Virus Rider

Bringing the Staff of Illusion and the Staff of Density Control into battle, apply the Cosmic Armor boost to mind.

Electro will begin the battle by trapping the Virus Rider in a cage of electricity and flying up into the sky. Then Electro will begin to generate a storm, positioning the clouds in a large dome over the Virus to prevent him from running off or using CreateRoads.exe. Electro will then use the Staff of Illusion to make himself appear 10 times his original size, increasing the chance of the Virus' attacks missing. If the Virus uses his Staff of Weather control to negate this, Electro will fly around arena while battering the Roborider with lightning bolts and disks. If the Virus manages to knock Electro out of the air, the Slizer will use his staff of density control to soften the landing. Electro will put some distance between himself and the Virus, then attack him from the distance with lightning bolts and disks.

  8. Wow, good match Pulsate, I almost lost due to assuming that Flare would be flying. Good thing I dropped so many points into Gali's toughness, considering how many times I've screwed up while playing her.

  9. Well, Electro and Jet were always able to fly without buying anything, and Mil was said to be able to fly to in one piece of media that I didn't find until a while and by then he was already successful enough he didn't need to fly.

True. It's not all that different from Toa having elemental powers from the get-go. It's what makes choosing a fighter interesting, but at the same time it's not game-breaking because all fighters but glatorians have ways to achieve the same thing. :)
  10. Actuall i think maybe Spectrum Electro would be better sounding if that could be done

Hm...while I can see how flipping the order could make the name more appealing, my intention was for it to be a shortened version of the term "electromagnetic spectrum." So Electro Spectrum it is!

In other news, Pulsate and I have agreed to a match: Gali vs. Flare in the Stalactite Village. I will be contributing 1000W and Pulsate will be spending 200W.

    Strategy:

Gali will use the Suletu to remove Flare's edge in mind, then surround herself with a barrier of water. She will then use her Kadin to fly close to the ceiling of the cavern, surround several of the moderate-sized stalactites with layers of water, and then dislodge them from the ceiling with her hooks, guiding the improvised projectiles toward Flare with her elemental powers. She will repeat the process a few times until Flare is sufficiently weakened. Then she will dive down toward Flare while willing the water barrier to spin and elongate like a bullet, making herself more aerodynamic to boost her speed and increase the impact with the Slizer. If Flare survives the collision despite his low toughness, Gali will bind his wings to his sides with whips of water and simply allow him to plummet to the cavern floor.

    Items used: Suletu, Kadin

  11. Huh, so all the other Cosmic Slizers have unique epithets...now I want to get Electro in on this action. But first I have to pick a name: Does Electro Spectrum sound too cheesy?

    photo.jpg Tellmetellmetellme!

  12. Hm...okay, I just don't have the patience to save widgets for an upgrade anymore.

I'll buy Gali a +3 strength trainer, a +1 agility trainer, and a kanohi Kadin.

Both Gali and Electro are up for honorable duels to the death. :P

  13. Hehe, nice. :D I love the little touches like Nidhiki's vanity, Electro being a dedicated underling who wants to be bossed around, and Boss wanting to be accepted by the others but rejected because they literally know nothing about him.

An idea for Canis and writers of future chapters: What role to the sponsors play in this? Do they represent companies that sponsor the fighters for publicity, or just loose alliances between fighters?

  14. Confirming my match with Bulik:

    Strategy against Nidhiki:

Gali will use the staff of density control to increase her weight to resist being blown away by Nidhiki's elemental attacks. When the Toa of Air uses his Kadin Gali will wait until he is a decent distance above the ground before using her Staff of Illusion to reverse his senses, disorienting the Toa and making him crash into the pavement below. Gali will grab Nidhiki's ankles with a whip of water and use it to slam him into the nearby buildings a few times, then go in for the kill with her staves. If Nidhiki escapes again, Gali will launch herself after him using a jet of water, hitting him in the face with a staff to disable his Kadin.

Honestly, I'd probably just use the ranking system for organizing tournaments and the leave the regular battle system alone. High-leveled characters already tend to fall out of use since no one seriously wants to challenge them, so I think that ranking fighters would just reinforce the idea that certain characters are "untouchable."

Also, I don't think that overall stat totals mean that much in an actual fight; it's possible to tailor a strategy to take advantage of a fighter's highest stats and make their lower stats irrelevant. A good example of this would be the first tournament: Electro had terrible strength and toughness, but I took advantage of his agility to disable the enemy early on and avoid a fist-fight. Similarly, Canis has made Millenium successful by using his high mind in imaginative ways (chains of light, illusions, light "radar", etc.). This is different from Voxumo and Dual Matrix's more balanced approach, which focuses on raising all stats to the same level so as to avoid having any weaknesses. While the latter group could probably be ranked pretty accurately using averages, the former group is more difficult to measure. This is especially true when you consider the new items that are in the mix now, particularly dedicated "stat nullifiers" like the Suletu and the Staff of Silence.

@ Canis Lupus Give them time, activity always slows down after a tournament. :)

  15. I've been a losing streak for a week or so. Good match. I knew I should have posted in the tournament but no.

Right back at ya!Yeah, you can't beat that free money. ;)Also, Pahrak, does the Hordika Venom disable Kanohi like it did in canon? That would be a tad unfair to Toa, since other fighters would not lose access to their unique items. Also, to what degree do we control the transformation (i.e. giving the fighter new features like fins or spikes)?
  16. True, all canon Zamor would have to be heavily nerfed and/or already resemble existing items. However, I think that the idea of ammos with different effects is an interesting one...perhaps we could brainstorm some fanon Zamor designs that are a tad less overpowered? Or perhaps just create alternate versions of existing ammos (disks, wheels, etc.)? (Edited in so as not to double post) Flaredrick and I have agreed to a match: Gali vs. Lhikan in the Training Sphere area. Strategy:

She will avoid looking directly at Lhikan at the beginning of the match to avoid being blinded by the Ruru. Gali will hit the sphere with a jet of water and then form a conveyor belt of water beneath her feet to propel her toward the control panel. She will guard herself with a shield of water as she changes the arena to Naho Bay. She will then use her Staff of Illusion to create the image of a swarm of fish beneath Lhikan's lily pad to lure rahi to the area. She will then overturn his lily pad with a wave, presenting the Takea and Tarakava with a shiny new chew toy. Regardless of the arena, Gali will surround herself with a wall of water and assault Lhikan with jets of water. If the Toa gets in close, she will use the staff of Density Control to become intangible, wrap him in tendrils of water, and then attack him with her staves and whips of water.

  17. And Gali wins by a nose. Good match Pulsate, you would have had me if the Staff of Density Control hadn't triggered at the right time.Note to self: Double-check your opponent's inventory before posting. I completely forgot about the Wing Boosters. :annoyed: Also, I think I'll sell the Ice Crystals and Solar Radiation, since they're pretty much redundant at this point.

  18. Keizah, I sponsor Evo, not Nex.

D'oh. >_< I was thinking "Evo" and typed "Nex." My bad.Of course, those two have had name confusion issues since the very beginning. ;)

  19. Pulsate and I have agreed to a match: Gali vs. Evo on the Valiant, 1000W each.Strategy:

Gali will begin the match by wrapping Evo's ankles and wrists in water and suspending him in the air upside-down (a task made easier by the low gravity). She will then use the staff of illusion to make it appear to Evo that the room is spinning horizontally which, combined with the fact that he is hanging upside-down, should confuse and disorient the hero so that it will be difficult for him to counterattack. She will then increase her density before going in for the attack with her staves, increasing her toughness and the damage output from her attacks. Once the hero has been weakened, she will surround him with a sphere of water and slam him into the ground to finish him.

    Items Used:

    Staff of Illusion

    Staff of Density Control

  20. Quick, gotta post this before the opera starts! Yes, I am completely serious.

Confirming my match with Wraith, 1000W each.

Gali will be bringing her staves of Illusion and Density Control into this battle. She will use the staff of illusion to camouflage the fuel pods, which will increase the chances of Power running into one or triggering it with his powers. Gali will use blasts of water to herd Power toward the fuel pods and other arena obstacles. Once there is a decent amount of water spread around the arena, Gali will wait for Power to use an electric attack and use the staff of density control to become intangible. The water will serve as a conduit for the charge, causing a chain reaction that should blow up a good portion of the arena and hopefully catching Power in the blast. If he manages to survive somehow, Gali will use a jet of water to rush over to Power's location and batter him with water whips and her hooks.

  21. Aye it was a good match as well. Really did not think i would win against you

Really? Kopaka outclasses Electro in most stats, and I've lost to you before...
  22. Oh well, good match Voxumo.I'll buy a Staff of Density Control, a +1 mind trainer, and a +3 toughness trainer for Electro and also put his bonus point towards mind. Also, I believe you said earlier that items that aren't fighter-specific can be shared between fighters with the same sponsor, right?

  23. Strategy:

Electro will be using the Cosmic Armour to boost his mind this match. Electro's first move will be to create a cloak of electricity to provide an extra layer of defense. Rather than taking to the air, Electro will use his wings primarily as a means of accelerating rapidly to avoid Kopaka's attacks. Electro will hit Kopaka with lightning and disks as often as possible, but he will stop for as short an interval as possible while doing so to stay on the defensive. Once there is a decent buildup of ice and water of the ground, Electro will send a powerful surge of electricity through it to hit Kopaka from all sides and paralyze him. Then Electro will finish the match with a volley of lightning bolts and disks.

So...aren't we going to end up with three finalists? Will they be looking at a three-way match?
