  1. IC - Oryan: Oryan was too late to react. Almost too late. As the Toa began to fall he threw himself forwards--probably saving his life from Slaughterhouse--leaping into the air in an attempt to catch her midfall. Instead he found himself falling to the ground with the aforementioned Toa on top of him. He connected heavily with the ground, rolling over to face the Toa. Blood was splattered across his face, and in a startled second he saw the damage done to Nahri's arm. From there, Oryan lost his cool for perhaps the first time in his life. Leaping to his feet, crossbow in hand, he faced the Inquisition. "That was not an apprehending, you Piraka!" he snarled, hardly paying attention to the mutated Toa. "And this is not the business of your Inquisition!" He looked over to where Nahri lay, and bit his lip. There was probably a good chance he would get into a particularly nasty situation, and even more that he would fail. He had heard of Sluaghterhouse. Everyone had. A Toa might hold up against him, but not a powerless Vortixx, however skilled he might be. That was, Oryan supposed, the reason he had to fight the urge to shoot the particular Inquisitor. "She's a newcomer, and wounded thanks to you," he said, a little more calmly. "I will take her in for medical treatment and questioning. Climbing the wall is an infraction of the law to be dealt with by the Enforcement, not by your terror-squad."

    The Closet

My only comment on the title: Dear St. Nicholas, not again.
  3. IC - Oryan - Closed Gate: Oryan didn't like when his care for someone outweighed his sense of duty. This, unfortunately, was one of them. he had strolled around the market for a little before setting off after the adventurous Toa Nahri. He had met too many adventurous Toa to trust that they had common sense. It turned out he was just in time. A guard was in the process of apprehending her. Well, trying too: the wildheaded Toa had decided to try climbing out of his reach, and the Enforcer was aiming some sort of power. No, he corrected himself. He new the being, a volatile former Enforcer, now working for the Inquisition: this might end very badly, especially if he didn't intervene. Sighing and praying to whoever might hear that this stupid Toa wouldn't get him in even more trouble, Oryan strode up to Koranga, placing an arm over the being's raised hands. "Calm for a moment, Inquisitor!" he said with his usual external calm. Just in case though, his crossbow was in his hand.
  4. My goodness, you're alive. How's Wings coming? ;P
  5. IC - Oryan - Marketplace: "And what do you plan to do then?" Oryan asked. "Don't think you're going to be leaving tomorrow for the good old Universe. Thousands have tried, hundreds have died, and none have succeeded." He looked around at the Marketplace briefly. "Where were you from?"
  6. Hmmm... I think I'll kill Dorcha in the near future. As much as I like him, I like Valoran better. I'm planning on making another Enforcer, same allegiance as Oryan, except a little more furious regarding Worshippers. Hmm... Maybe I could make a faction out of this?
  7. IC - Oryan - marketplace: After staring levelly at her for a moment, Oryan replied. "I don't doubt that. But you would have also been forced to take on an entire group of Skakdi--they're quite loyal to one another, however much they might infight. Oh, and I would have been forced to arrest you, remember that." He turned, speaking as he did so. "If you want food or supplies, you have to work for it, unless you're a Disruptor, that is." There was a marked bitterness in his tone. Then, to answer her question he pointed to the road leading south-east out of the market. "That will take you either to the Temple--where the Worshippers meet and pray and whatnot--" he failed to mention he had neither knowledge nor interest in what they did there "and to the Closed Gate, the only exit from the city. It's been closed for well neigh 30,000 years." He gestured the other way. "Then there's the Palace, the main headquarters of the government. Skirt the edge and you can go either to the Well in the west and the Barracks in the east. Take your pick."
  8. IC - Oryan/NPC - marketplace; Fortunately for Nahri, the Skakdi was unaware of the reason for the extra weight. Before he could reach back to look, Oryan broke in. "Cool it, Skakdi. She's a newcomer, and I'm still on duty." The two locked eyes for a moment. Oryan made the slightest hint of a movement towards his crossbow. The Skakdi reacted by reaching for his own weapon, but the Vortixx moved in a single blur, snatching his weapon before the Skakdi's hand-axe was out from the grinning brute's belt. "And you're threatening an Enforcer. Now beat it." The flat tone of voice, combined with the pointed bow made the Skakdi rethink his previous plan. With a growl of frustration and a string of muttered curses he stalked away to join the rest of his brothers. Oryan re-slung his crossbow. "Still fun/" he asked with a slight smile.
  9. IC - 24601 - Locker Room Area: The bard put away his violin as he approached the group. He nodded at 306 before turning to 686. "How far away is maintenance?"
  10. OOC: Sorry, the lockers kinda made me go inactive as 24601 was a rather high number to be there... IC - The Bard (24601) - Locker Room Area: The sound of the Bard's violin broke through 306 and 2257's conversation. The Skakdi was walking along the corridor playing his instrument unthinkingly as he walked towards them.
  11. IC - Oryan -Deserted House: Oryan rolled his eyes. "Pointless robbery: you're a Toa of Plantlife." He flipped the fruit into the air and caught it. "Only steal when you absolutely must, and only from those who can afford the loss." He pointed to the Skakdi, walking away obliviously. "An ordinary citizen, working every day for a living isn't a good target, and no Enforcer would be willing to let it slide--unless for some of them you pay 'em enough. Robbing a Worshipper is a little different, although they're often just as poor." He tossed the fruit back to her. "If you're so stealthy, why don't you put it back?"
  12. OOC: That's no problem. Also, just to let you know, I'll be going completely inactive next week. IC - Oryan -Deserted House: Oryan slung his crossbow back over his shoulder as he stepped out the door. Outside business had resumed as usual, and the marketplace was thick with vendors and shoppers. "This is the Marketplace: the food and water produced under the guidance of the Worshippers is handed out here, and people come from pretty much everywhere to sell various wares. If you search long enough you can find pretty much anything." As if to prove his point he stopped at a table and plucked out as stone carved map of the city, laying down a few widgets to the Toa of Stone. he handed it to Nahri. "It's always a good plan keeping one of these on you until you figure out where everything is," he explained. "Getting lost isn't the most enjoyable experience here."
  13. IC - Oryan - Deserted Home: Oryan shrugged. "Nothing. I'll make a note of him as a slightly unstable individual, but beyond that he's broken no laws." He looked out the open door. "Flashes are past now, and my shift's pretty much up. Want to see some of the city?"
  14. OOC: ha ha, that's fine. I should probably do the same soon. IC - Oryan - Deserted House: "No, I don't think she will," Oryan said calmly. "But you're obviously not making a good impression here, cutting off arms and bloodying carpets. Why don't you calm down and go home." He spoke in a soothing tone of voice, inwardly forcing himself not to switch to his explosives and blow the shield to the other side of the city. "I could haul him in for minor vandalism, but that's really a small charge to waste so much energy on," the Vortixx replied to Nahri, grinning slightly. "I don't know though, if he goes around cutting his arms off for show he might become the most amusingly masochistic terrorist we've had yet." OOC: Okay guys, I'll be online only in the afternoons after this, maybe occasionally a quick post in the morning for the next week. G'night.
  15. IC - Oryan - Deserted house: "That's wonderful, really wonderful," Oryan said with exaggerated calm. "I'm sure you'd love to explain to the owner of the house why there's blood on his carpet, right? Vandalism's not a nice thing to do, even if it's just to show off your power." He could haul him off on those grounds alone, lock him up for a day and then let him go. But he wanted to see if there was more to the Toa than just that. "Sorry you have to deal with this welcome to our glorious city, Nahri," he said dryly. OOC: Incidentally, I'd advise use of prose at all times. Chatbox actions just sound a little odd here.
  16. IC - Oryan - Deserted house: "I don't work like that. I shoot people who work like that," Oryan said, observing the Toa curiously, but not dropping his guard. "If you want me to kill you or drag you off to prison, you'd better give me a Lightstone of a reason. or are you just looking to kill yourself?" He wasn't sure if he was dealing with a madman or a sneaky assailant.
  17. IC - Oryan - Deserted house: "I could haul you into into the Inquisition for that comment, I suppose," Oryan said, smiling to show that he was joking. "But I'd sooner have you become a Disruptor." "I don't think anyone has it right, honestly. The Inquisition are nothing but fearmongers, and us Enforcers aren't much better sometimes. The Worshippers are weaklings, who worship a Toa because they're either too weak or too brainwashed to do otherwise. And the Disruptors..." His eyes grew hard. "They can't even be called a faction. Some are scum that I'm glad to have wiped the street with, others are warriors I'd be honored to face in combat. I've hunted down more than a few in my days, and I don't like what I see. We're all ants in the end, though. All ants trying to act like we're Toa..." He trailed off as the door open. Even as the figure appeared in the door and began speaking Oryan instinctively whipped out his crossbow in a single fluid movement. He relaxed slightly. "Lovely comment. You are?" his voice had little emotion, and it was hard to tell if he was annoyed or just bored. "Do you know this guy?" Oryan shrugged. "No," he said, but his mind was cycling through all the faces he could remember... Profiles and criminal cases. The Toa was familiar, but he couldn't place him. "Do I know you, Toa?" he said, slightly suspicious.
  18. IC - Oryan: The Vortixx snorted. "By no means!" he exclaimed. "Things are a little complex in this city. You've got the Worshippers--some see the Carver as God, others just want an easier life: they all bow before him, hypocrites or not. Then there's the City Law Enforcement: we keep the peace around this city, although some members are as fanatical as those religious idiots. The main opposition to those two is in the form of Disruptors, people who don't like the carver, and don't like the current order. They can be noble freedom fighters or vile terrorists and thieves. The Inquisition comes from the Worshipper faction: they're the military arm of the religion. They don't work to keep the order, just to torture and execute anyone who opposes them." He took a deep breath after that spiel. "Can't say I'm happy about the politics, but it's better than Xia so I'm content to stay. I work as an Enforcer, but... I'm a bit more independent than most." IC - Valoran - Outcast Towers: Valoran waved his hand, generating a peg out of the wall which he hung his cloak on. "I'm Toa Valoran," he said simply. "I guess I've counted as a Disruptor since I trashed the South section of the city nine thousand years back. Or was it eight? I forget."
  19. IC - Valoran - Outcast towers: As Dekuna finished speaking, there was a sudden shout from the guard outside the door. At the same time the aforementioned portal swung open. A Toa of iron stood there, unarmed and clad in dented and scarred armor."I understand there is a meeting of those people otherwise known as Disruptors here?" he asked calmly. IC - Oryan - Marketplace east (Deserted home): "Now that's the question you don't ask people these days," Oryan commented. "You never know who is listening, and next you know the Inquisition is hauling you off to their torture chambers for a nice little chat on the subject." He smiled a little sourly for a moment. "He's my boss, I suppose, or the boss of my boss. This place is heaven for a male Vortixx, so I can't complain." He doffed his helmet, revealing his strange face. "Name's Oryan, and yourself?"
  20. Valoran will barge in sometime. After he's approved of course. Sorry, you're going down. Soon the reign of the Inquisition will end and the Disruptors can establish a theocracy in honor of the Great Spirit himself!
  21. IC - The Bard (24601) (lighted hallway) (group 2): The Bard let one single note escape the Violin. It shrieked through 686's eardrums, loud enough to make him wince. Non of the others seemed to even hear anything. The Bard grinned mischievously. "I'm good, thanks."
  22. IC - The Bard (24601) - (personnel deck): The Bard gave a grave inclination of his head to 2257. He smiled a little at 686's statement. "I'm sure I will," he said without a shred of sarcasm. Then, softly humming he followed the Toa, letting 2257 go ahead of him. tensing for action, he unslung his violin, resting the bow against the string. To anyone who didn't know his power it looked ridiculous. OOC: BTW, I expect to be rather inactive tomorrow, and after that only active in the afternoons. Feel free to move along and act as if 24601 walked with you.
  23. Name: ValoranGender: Male.Species: Toa.Affiliation: DisruptorTrapped: 10,000 years, map time.Weapons/Tools: Valoran wields absolutely no weapons, relying on his Iron powers to generate all he needs. He carries a small pack on his back containing food and water, as well as other assorted odds and ends that have built up over the years. He wears a great Kakama.Powers: o - Veteran control over Iron. o - Kakama speed. o - Mind links: Valoran has developed the Toa's ability to a high extreme, able to link himself with several people at once.Appearance: A tall Toa in the typical burnt orange/gunmetal of a Fe-Toa. His armor shows the signs of much wear, but is still completely functional, no doubt due to the Toa's elemental abilities. He wears a ragged and stained off black cloak.Bio: By this time in the map, Valoran has mostly forgotten his life before entering this map. He doesn't care to resume it either. Roughly 9,005 years ago, in fact, he utterly gave hope of returning. from there, in bitter despair he set out to destroy everything the Carver had built. After a long a futile battle which resulted in almost a tenth of the city being leveled he fled, using his Kakama to speed out into the infinite landscape, downing the few Enforcers who came after him. That was about 9,000 years ago. Since then he's returned every hundred years or so to wreck havoc, kill a dozen Enforcers, smash a barracks or so, then flee. Every enforcer dispatched over the ten thousand or so miles to where Valoran's hideout was has never returned.
