  1. I myself am not trying to ride them on this, just pointing out that when you post an actual RPG idea in the works, people usually react better to it if everything you can add to it is, well, added :Plike I said, i was just pointing it out in an effort to diffuse the whole situation considering how a bunch of people were getting a bit... worked up about it. Or seemed to. last thing we need here is a fight when we can all just harp on the perfectly normal Multi-Post Skyrim RPG currently in the Approval topic EDIT: Now on that same not it'd be a totally different situation if it was a "What're your thoughts on a possible MLP RPG?"
  2. Just throwing this out there, but if you have something to add to the RPG, add it before you post it.Nothing worse than posting an imcomplete RPG and then saying "I have stuff that I can add that'll make all your questions basically go away. but i havn't added it in."This may be the planning topic, but that doesn't mean you can't post a nearly complete RPG either.
  3. Unlike food or production, you don't need an entire world specialization to have a good military force.
  4. Halo didn't operate like that Xom, i know that much.Asides mars (which really didn't matter considering it was industrial and you can have massive industrial plants pretty much anywhere) the Main Agricultural planet in the series, harvest, happened to only be inhabited along the equator. Or, at the very least, that's where the majority of farming was. While there were areas elsewhere that were both farmland and inhabbited, the main area was the equator.Besides i don't see how you don't see an advantage in specialization over Generalization. Aren't you the person who usually hates Generalization?
  5. Specializations happen on a city based level as of now, but we're also stuck on this planet for now.Who's to say a race who has access to a multitude of planets doesn't look at one and say "This planet could sustain half of our empire with it's agricultural worth alone. Nevermind with Industry. We'll make a farming planet."Going off of Halo here (yes, i'm a Halo Story Nut) Much of the Colony worlds were specialized. (Mars was Industrial, Earth was Utopian, meanwhile outer worlds with very rich soil were Agricultural and barely bothered with the industrialism that other, less fertile planets were)
  6. I myself, would rather lose awesomely, than win horribly.Throughout my RPG "career" I've killed so many characters off for the sake of the story it's not even funny. In hindsight that's probably why Exo liked me enough to put me in charge of a bunch of his RPGs when he disappeared - I've never played to win. I've only ever played to have fun And my supposed knack for the dramatic makes losing just as much fun as winning.Personally winning can be rather... boring.
  7. I'm going to throw this out there for Lev.You posted that straight into the Approval Topic, but if you don't post it here than you have no idea if people will play it. And after actually skimming (because i couldn't bring myself, in good faith, to read every word of that wall) I can truely and honestly say that i would never play that. It's too restricting, too grounded. With no room for imagination. Maybe i'm crazy. I honestly only read to the end of locations before it became too much. But that's what i see so far.I urge - no, I beg you to remember Elementum. There were a multitude of things that happened there and this RPG is already shaping up to go the same way. Don't make me legitimately screw your RPG over again cause i'm pretty much past that stage. Not that I would, considering you didn't learn from the last time. But try to remember that Text Based RPGs are not tabletop.
  8. Myself, personally, would like to see Diplomacy, Trade, and some of the sneakier sides of Warfare take, if not a larger role, a more accessable role.In addition to that, the pure and simple ability to devote your own resources to the development of technology that only you yourself can use, rather than having technological advancement be at the whims of the GM, as you've said.@Levs RPG in the Submission Topic.I skimmed. I really, honestly did. But just looking at that makes me think that you've gone the same way as the last RPG you made (in my memory), Elementum. While i will read it eventually, it honestly looks to me like you took skyrim/oblivion, and tried to put it in an RPG. which on one hand is good and cool, but the way it's written (aka massive walls of text) makes it seem like you didn't try to make an RPG based off of it. More like you made it into a tabletop rpg and then tried to make that tabletop into a Text Based.
  9. I'm going for Naval Superiority not out of simply wanting to, but strategy.I could go Air superiority, but that has a lot more people gunning for it.Naval Superiority = You can't do something unless I allow it. Complete Monopoly on Trade and the ability to blockade people who might be a problem. My mind's loving the strategic possibilities of Strio.... Alex you might've just created a monster.Or added to a pre-existing one, we'll have to see.
  10. You can help me :PThis should be interesting. One of the main reasons i didn't join starscape was because Specialization was wierd. You were encouraged to specialize but at the same time you weren't. This should be interesting.I'm gonna go all out on this too
  11. So we're now looking at Provincial Expansion rather than City Expansion... Interesting. So cities then are no longer part of the IP gain thing, but i'm going to assume that we still have capitals which, in the event of an invasion, would still need to be conquered, yes?And due to Koth's incessant bugging of yours truely, i'll have a literal ton of Military Profiles for you by the end of the week...Naval Superiority here I come >=D
  12. You weren't playing to lose either.Besides, In my own experience i can't roleplay a character that i can't think or act like. Hence why nearly every Character i create essentially embodies a part of my personality. Through that experience i see the Syrrnix's blatant disregard for the views of other races (and your own subsequent "outrage") as part of your own personality. Regardless, I don't want to spam this topic so I'm done"To alex and Koth - Do all of our weapons need profiles, or just out Exotic/Powered Up ones?
  13. Technologically they were even with their counterparts militarily. Considering your Fleet of Large ships still died...Besides, Being a member of the pact meant nothing. At the very least, it meant you had allies, and at the most, it meant you had a set of allies who, due to treaties, wouldn't be dumb enough to attack. And the Syrnix not seeing unprovoked Attacks as bad wasn't the problem. The problem was thinking that their allies would take that and say "That's the way they are, oh well." That's what I mean as having set yourself up to fail diplomatically. You forgot there were civilizations that weren't the syrnix.Essentially, you acted as though (to use character based RPGs as an example) Your character shared the views and opinions of every other. Believe me anyone who does that in Strio will fall.
  14. You got that way cause your only saving grace wasyour missiles.I'm sorry but Diplomatically, economically, and Technologically the Syrnix were set up die. Military was the only thing that saved them, and even that failed. You should at least have some idea of what you want your nation to do, lest you end up as the *gasp* jack of all trades nation.
  15. That was your same motto in starscape, and look where that got you :)Just throwing this out there Xom, but if your nation in this is going to be essentially the same as in starscape... well you're gonna have more than a few people gunning for you.
  16. (BTW ak designed the continents in an attempt to have them all appear to be part of the central continent.)I'mma just throw this out there though that i don't think tectonics play as great a role in all of this as, say, naval warships would. But that's just me. I prefer not to think how how something got to be that way or what it could be like or do in the next year, and more on the now. Hence why the Ring of Fire, as far as I care, doesn't even cross my mind except to make fun on 2012 :PBut that's just me, so sue me.I'm one of those guys who will ignore it all either way
  17. Dibs on Eleven, Profile Sent. Also i assume that a system will be created on case to case basis as far as trade goes? Considering the removal of standardized trading, but the continued existance of trading as a whole. Considering it's like, the most vital part of my whole Nations existance, i'd hate to see it go.That, and if Rise of Legends/Rise of Nations has taught me anything, it's that he who trades and grows an economy ends up with one of the smallest, (though most elite) armies, and eventually wins the game
  18. Not a plot hole. A plot hole is something that makes the ending or major revelation of a plot point impossible. Or at least, in my mind. Besides the eagles were friends of Gandalf. They were not stupid enough to fly into mordor, nor was gandalf stupid enough to have asked. While yes, How It Should Have Ended brings up a funny point, it is not a plot hole. It makes sense and is kind of a plot hole, but part of me would like to think (And i havn't watched POTC in a while so i could be totally wrong and not remember) that the original aim was not to render the fountain useless, but to use it for spain. When that became impossible, the only option left was to destroy the entire fountain.
  19. Replies in bold And yes, i do mean to be slightly sarcastic. That's mostly just me though. I'm also a massive story nut as far as halo goes, so yeah.
  20. half of my mothers family has a birthday in november, meanwhile my birthday is in march and my brothers isin october It's coincidence, nothing more.
  21. Onomatopoeic word with the sound of English Alphabet letter "M" Followed by Onomatopoeic Word with the sound of English Alphabet letter "K"
  22. I think the main thing we can take from this is that someone is obviously crazy. And this is coming from soneone who's crazy as well. Bring on the Buffalo >:L
  23. And then the site would become PZP, or Pikmin Zone Power. And we'd all have to get mad because people were talking more about Pikmin than Bionicle, and that since bionicle was banned to us Pikmin is destroying our chances of bringing it back... Yeah. I went there. Sue me.
  24. He already did. Sadly, the combination of him not having Fingers, a grasp of English, and wanting the be a classical composer, kinda makes the song... well ,hard to understand. I'll try to get lyrics off of him one of these days
