Out of a mask that's ostensibly supposed to integrate designs from every culture in the universe? Sounds to me like that would inevitably result in one thing: clutter. The real mask, no matter what it's supposed to be, looks way more cohesive than the chaotic mess that would inevitably result from trying to faithfully adhere to that grandiose description. A description like that is the very definition of the phrase "easier said than done". It doesn't take any substantial creative effort to SAY something that sounds so ambitious, but it would take a ludicrous amount of creative effort to actually depict it faithfully. It's like writing about a language that looks like a combination of every other language in the world and then calling an illustrator or designer "lazy" because they can't meet your impossible demands and know better than to try.Thats lazyness if you ask me.
Any designer should be willing to the challange to make something great out of that.
Well, the Matoran Universe is not the massive expanse we have with our own, so saying "every culture in the universe" with them is like saying... well... maybe not much more than 6 different cultures (could be more, I suppose Electricity and Sonics can have a pretty flamboyant culture).
They did add the runes on the mask though (spotted now with the bigger image).
That I must say is a very nice touch.
(Speaking of clutter; Karzahni's mask, anyone?)

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTT!!!!!!!
I knew the twitter thing would be a smaller announcement.
Comic Con will be the ultimate XD
*Too bad I-m so far from NY.... better some fan around here arm themselves with a cam of sorts!)

Isn't that coral or something? It looks great if it is.
No, its meant to be a Rahkshi.
Yes.... yes its coral XD
Its meant to bear the likeness of the bubbly, clustery coral that can be seen underwater when diving from the hut to collect cowrey shells and seaweed.

It truly now is the
-Dawn of the Final Day-
But who knows how many hours remain?
Maybe its Lego Legend of Zelda!
That would actually be pretty cool you know...
But I doubt Nintendo would ever make a contract with lego.
Gah LEGO y u no post thing on twitterrrrrr
Anyway, I don't know how many others out there thought this, but I honestly think the style of the countdown is basically just imitating one of these:
Edit: eh, doesn't look like the embed is working, here's the link:
vimeo.com/m/50872925
(Maybe if I take away the protocol at the beginning it won't auto-embed?)
Oh, loads of people have been saying that already, me included

Wooow! They're going to release HD versions of the Mahri! Epiiic!
Wait what does HD mean in this context
-NotS
High Definition XD
-
Does suddenly checking the BZPower front page more than usual count?
-
Ok, just so that I can throw the question around generally;
Am I doing this right? Is this recognisable from MNOG II?
(No reall textures have been added. I'm tlking about the shape).

Set designers aren't beholden to flimsy descriptions of masks and characters in the BIONICLE storyline, let alone impossible ones. This is true whether it's a continuation or a reboot. If the set designers feel like they need to contradict a description that nobody with any design sense would ever impose on an actual product, they are fully within their rights to do so.Not sure how many cultures existed in the MU (I always presumed each element had their own culture of sorts) but this mask here appears to have just one design style (rather like Inca).
Greg Farshtey is an OK writer, but he is neither a product designer, a concept designer, or a graphic designer. And frankly, a designer with full creative freedom will be able to come up with much better results in general than a designer who is trying to delicately tiptoe around ridiculous written constraints.
Thats lazyness if you ask me.
Any designer should be willing to the challange to make something great out of that.

Yeah, I don't believe its the mask of creation.
Wasn't the description of the mask "An elaborate form containing the designs of every matoran culture?"

Not the foggiest clue...
Bro, you sure about that? It seems to me it's almost definitely BIONICLE. Almost...
Ah whoops, apparently your post got in between who I was replying to...
INTRUDER!!

I do have to hand it to Lego. I'm impressed that after all the leaks before, the final set images never got out. I can't wait to be surprised!
*Cough cough cough cough cough*
You... haven't checked everywhere, trust me XD
Man I am SO HYPE for tomorrow. I only hope I won't be utterly disappointed 0.o
Yeah, no kidding!
If all this mounting up is all just to go away with a whimper...

Hey, who says they're not doing it like this:
1- Announcement tomorrow on twitter.
2- At NYCC they'll show a CGI preview of the sets in action, or 20 minutes of somekind of pilot episode (if they intend to do that, a series I mean).

I'm assuming that the scopes are common among Akaku, if only for the reason that every single one that the Toa Mata collected had them haha (not to mention the Akaku Nuva, but those were made by Artahka, so he could've easily made those with special scopes)
Looking from Lego's point of view;
Why spend extra on the same mask without scope?
Of course that's the realistic answer lol
Yup, always looking at it too realistically ^^;
According to BS01, Akaku are outfitted with the scopes to increase the masks utility (exact wording is "give their users enhanced vision).
There are a lot of possible mask attachments, but might I suggest, say, a folding target reticle for the Mask of Accuracy? Help fine tune what exactly you're aiming at, and then let the mask to all the work getting the object where you've decided to put it.
And just when I thought the Sanok couldn't get more awesome. I'd pay good money to get one of those if they were manufactured.
There's always doing it yourself... with a bit of glue and all...
Say, that would mean there are also the Mahri Kanohi versions completely without all those breathing gear stuff on it.
I always considered that they were just detachable equipment.

Why Shrek?? Shrek's been there and gone. Is Dreamworks coming out with a 5th movie? A series? Books? Comics?
If no, then I really don't see any point...
Shrek is indeed coming out with a fifth movie.
Of course, that post was clearly a joke anyway.
Oh you gotta be kidding me!
The 4th one was a fine ending!
(But thats for another discussion...)

Could be... we'll just have to wait and see...
What do you think I'm doing? You've any idea how difficult that is!?!?? *runs over ceiling*
Yes, but the reveal's not tomorrow, it's on Friday.# Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya, tomorrow is only a day away!! #
Can I sing it now? Can I sing now!?
(Actually, it was 1 am here when I wrote that, so its still tomorrow XD )
NEW FROM LEGO 2015... THROWBOTS! What if this is a giant troll and it's not Bionicle? Lol
Throwbots failed, Bionicle was a 10 year success. Why would Lego do that?
I find it amusing that everyone is just throwing random theme names out there without looking at the evidence. So far, it looks like Lego Reading Rainbow.
The return of Lego TMNT!!!!
I find it amusing that everyone is just throwing random theme names out there without looking at the evidence.
I looked at it at least.
i think Lego Shrek is a risky company decision, but i can see it working in the long run.

Although it does make more sense to reveal Bionicle 2015 at NYCC, my gut tells me it's Bionicle. Always trust your gut, children. Plus, didn't somebody already crack the URL of the tweet and find "bionicle" written in there somewhere?
Yes, but the "Bionicle" part was quickly removed.
Seriously, regardless of what Black Six claims, I really think Lego is teasing its fans!

Of all the elements, I've seen Ice using additional scopes on their Kanohi the most.
But does that mean an Ice Matoran could be wearing a Hau with a scope?
Does that also mean there are Akaku without scopes?
I always presumed it was part of the Kanohi from the very beginning...

So there might be a TV show? Ugh, i really don't want to think about that. For some reason I feel like it's not going to turn out good.
Depends on what they do with it, Hero Factory TV Show was kinda good from the start, but still childish. That was because the theme was not meant to be "good" If that makes any sense.
Honeslty, the other TV shows Lego is doing are great. I dont even know anything about Ninjago and do not follow the sets, but I watched half of the episodes on youtube simply because I just wanted to know how the story goes on and it was really well made.
If Lego decided to bring Bionicle back, they know they will have to do everything they can to not screw up.
Here's just hoping if they do make a series that they're going to give it their all.
Give the show a sense of awesomeness the story deserves.
(I'm not expecting it to be perfect from the start. I`m patient, and patients paid off with, for instance, Transformers Prime)
Here's to hoping that it won't be anything even relatively close to the tone of The Legend Reborn.
Ha ha ha, it most likely will XD
At least at the beginning.
Usually when a show like that grows a bit it'll get better.

This begs the question;
How the heck did Artahka lose his Kanohi?
He got sloppy?
