  1. Elves were originally supposed to be in the Capcom RPG fantasy adventure video game Dragon's Dogma, and the forest realm that they reside in was supposed ot be as large as the rest of the first part of the open world you can traverse with ease (bigger on the inside). This was scrapped, along with other game mechanics, due to time restraints. However, there are still elf ears in the character creation menu that serve as a relic of these regrettably scrapped plans.

I honestly wish they made a DLC involving elves.  Apparently the MMO (which is sadly only out in Japan) has some questline involving elves.  Anyway, just to stay on topic...

Ken from Street Fighter has blond hair and wears red as a tribute to Gundam's very own Char Aznable, since they are both rivals of the respective main characters.

Street Fighter 1 was called "Fighting Street" for its Turbografx-16 port.

The Turbografx-16 is called the PC Engine in Japan.

  2. Weirdest one in recent memory involved me at this mall I used to go to as a kid.  I was with all of my extended family who live in the same city as me.  For some reason, a bunch of cops came in and started gunning everyone down except for my family.  We were just told "Move along, nothing to see here".  We all got in a clown car and escaped.  Yes, a clown car.

We got back to my place, which was under maintenance for some reason (at the time I had this dream, one of our bathrooms was under maintenance, but in the dream, the entire outside of the house was, complete with scaffolding.  It was the same crew).  I went up to my room to take a nap and take in everything that had just happened.

Then while I'm in bed, Michael Jordan crawls out from under my covers just to tell me that he's working on Space Jam 2.  He then crawls back in and disappears.

    Then I woke up.

On a completely unrelated note, most of my dreams have a fictional Chinatown in it.  Even though my actual home town has a Chinatown (which I regularly go to), my dreams always use a Chinatown fabricated by my dreams itself.  But in every dream I've ever had that has involved this location, it always consistently looks the exact same.  I have never put any thought into creating this place (and I'm a guy who loves to daydream up characters and locations), but in my dreams, it's a well-established place that is almost completely consistent in how it appears.

  3. Granted, but in doing so, he somehow loses his power and becomes basically worthless.

including your namesake, the Gokaigers' very own Captain Marvelous, as your best friend.

I wish that this were actually true.

You become friends with Ryota Ozawa, the man who plays Captain Marvelous.  Since Captain Marvelous is a fictional character, this is as close to "true" as you can get.  It starts off pretty cool at first since he seems like a cool guy, but then you then ask him to act like Marvelous at all times so that you can live out your fantasy.  This causes him to just grow sick of the role and character, and resent you for it.

I wish the Gokaigers were real people.

  4. You hop between all of the franchises you love, and form basically an inter-universal Justice League/Avengers team of sorts with all of your favorites, including your namesake, the Gokaigers' very own Captain Marvelous, as your best friend.  Unfortunately, your new bad guy is Saitama the One Punch Man himself, who is now evil for some reason.  I don't think this is gonna end well for you, bud.

I wish Saitama would become good again and join CapMARVELOUS' team.

  5. Granted.  Days are now 36 hours long, but you adapt to a new lifestyle that tires you out so much that you spent 24 of those hours sleeping every day.  Every.  Single.  Day.  Unfortunately, standard work days have extended to about 18-24 hours a day, so your terrible sleep schedule gets you fired.

I wish that I could function normally without ever having to sleep again.

  6. So afraid to let everyone know what he thought the Makuta of Metru Nui's real name was, Greg Farshtey instead left it up to the fans via a contest, because if they don't like his name for the character, why don't they make something better, right?  The official winner was "Makutaey McMakutaface", and is, from hereon out, his real name.

I wish G1 and G2 Bionicle would have an official crossover that's canon to both lores, doesn't take years to explain, and is well-received.

  7. To me, fiction has always been about inspiring people.  Either it succeeds at that or it doesn't.  Clearly, G1 Bionicle did its job very well, lasting for 10 years with a strong fanbase like the people of BZPower, only for those fans to continue loving it for what it was and keep it alive.  Spreading the word about its great storytelling and world building well after its end, continuing to write stories in the Bionicle universe or inspired by Bionicle for fans to enjoy, building MOCs in the Bionicle style, or simply applying things they learned from Bionicle to everyday life.  G1 did its job, and even though it didn't stay, it left its mark in many of our childhoods, including mine, and I think that's what really matters.

I didn't follow G2 very actively, but I'm pretty sure we can do the same thing as we did for G1.

As for me, just visiting this old place is getting me interested in Bionicle as a whole all over again, so I've started developing my own fanon, drawing from some old MOCs I made as a kid, plus new ideas.

  8. Afterman...the name needs work, but I like the idea of a world where our legacy lives on after we have died out in these quasi-machines we have created...

It was a working name for Bionicle, so I can see why they chose it here.  But I do like that background idea too.

I like how you have a Japanese theme going on.  Though from what I'm seeing it's more "general East Asian leaning towards Japanese" (a la Legend of the Five Rings), rather than strictly Japanese.  But since this is supposed to be Bionicle-esque (as in the characters should probably look like kids' toys), I think that actually works better.

Looking at the villager artwork, I can see some pretty obvious kabuki influence, while still looking Bionicle-y.  I'm getting vibes of Origami Cyclone (Tiger & Bunny), Yokai (Big Hero 6), and Zenyatta (Overwatch), but also getting a balance between those and some obvious Pacific Island cultural vibes (at least, more obvious than Bionicle ever really did.  It was all in the culture, not so much the aesthetic aside from Ga-Koro and sometimes Ta-Wahi).

Overall, I like the concept, and I can see this getting a good number of fans.

  9. All part of making the island feel accurate! I thought the familiar names would make the comedy feel something like it's really taking place on Mata Nui, and it's great to know that you admire that.

I've never seen The Last Airbender or Legend of Korra, but I actually plan to watch both in a few days. Anyway, I'm glad I could make the setup work! Thank you again for reading!

I highly recommend you watch both.  Prince Wu doesn't show up until Korra's final story arc, but you will see exactly what I mean once you see him in "action" (if you could call it that).

You're very welcome, and yes, it did give me an effect of it actually taking place on Mata Nui.  I immediately pictured this story in the MNOLG/Bohrok cartoons' art style.

Speaking of which, here, have this.

  10. Beautiful.  Someone knows their MNOLG II characters!

I don't know if you're a Legend of Korra fan, but Saru really reminds me of Prince Wu, except if everyone around him had to put themselves in Mako's shoes.  I personally like that setup in general, and it can really work for anything, but you really made it work in Bionicle!
