  1. Intro Slow week and a busy night. That's the perfect recipe for a short update. Updates So, we're planning on trying to do some stuff for BrickFair in August. If you have any ideas for things we should plan, like contests, or giveaways, or other things we can involve all of you guys in, let me know! We're trying to wrap up some other longstanding projects. But the end of April and May means finals for a lot of us, which equals no free time. And there you have it. Mailbag Nothing this week. You make Black Six sad. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Have a good weekend everyone!
  2. Intro It is that time of week again, time for the Weekly Update! Aren't you all so excited? Updates So we had some promotions tonight. Congrats to Ta-metru_defender, Turakii #1 Lavasurfer, Toa_Velox, Nuju Metru, and 55555.I have every faith that they will perform admirably on the staff. Hopefully this will keep us well-staffed for a while now. If you haven't already, go take a survey for LEGO. They value all of your feedback, just give some honest answers. Behind the scenes, the BZPower Staff has been starting to plan for BrickFair. We're going to have even more table space this year, so start building some MOCs so you can bring or send them to the Washington DC area. It's gonna be great! I hope to see a lot of you there. Mailbag 1. No, not really. 2. i/u 3. Not right now. 4. Things that make you happy. 5. What do you mean, African or European swallow? 6. Yes. 7. No. 8. The USPS is pretty darn reliable. 9. A travel agent. 10. Poe wrote on both. 1. Yes. 2. Yes. 3. Pencil. 4. Classic: probably a 1968 Shelby Mustang or a 1969 Corvette. Modern: Bugatti Veyron. 5. 2010 Subaru Outback. 6. They get posted in the order they're received. 7. Ginger. And yes, I used to watch that show every morning. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion That's it for this week. It's time for me to go back to watching some MLG. Questions, comments, and feedback are of course always welcome. Have a great weekend!
  3. Intro Is it Friday yet? Oh, it is! Shoot, that means I need to crank out a Weekly Update! Updates So we have some awesome contests going on that you should check out: Blog Contest #2 - I talked about this with Nukaya in the last Powercast. If you like to travel or think about faraway places, you should make a cool blog theme and enter this. BBCC #58 - For reals, this time. It's sad to think that many of you weren't alive in the 80s. You have my condolences. They were awesome. Also, you make me feel old. Comedies Contest #4 - I don't know what possessed our Comedies staff to want to do this, but they did. Please, don't be too rough on them, they do their jobs better if they're not too mentally scarred. Behind the scenes stuff is getting pushed back. It's all Kelly's fault, don't blame me. If you want to see some progress, you should PM him and tell him to get around to replying to my emails (I'm only half-serious about that). Also, BrickFair is getting closer, planning and such is beginning to start and gears are turning. It should be an amazingly awesome event - I hope to see some of you there! Mailbag 1. a ) That's me. b ) No, Schizo Kaita did. I colored it in though. (I can do arts!) 2. What shenanigans? 3. No as part of any teams, no. 4. I generally pass out around midnight or so. 5. Never. 6. Blue. 7. Chocolate. 8. Well, they always deserve it, but I wouldn't say it's really a 'fun' thing. 9. My car (well, it's not all mine yet). 10. In about a minute. 11. Probably, and lots of people will buy it and it won't be very good. 12. TIE Fighter. 12. I played LEGO Island way back in the day. (Someone needs to learn to count.) 13. That's a really hard one. I might have to go with the Crystal Explorer Sub. I have lots of good memories of that set. 14. New Mexico. 15. No. 16. Yes. 17. Scooby Doo. 18. Fun. 19. Baby don't hurt me, don't hurt me, no more. 20. Flight would be cool, but teleportation would be a lot more useful. I think the best though, would be a regenerative healing factor, a-la Wolverine. Yes. It sits next to my desk. I print the complaints out, crumple them up, and throw them in there. It's in geosynchronous orbit.Sorry, but no.Don't look at me.Now how'd that get there?Depends on the pie.I think we've been over this.No. 1. I think we have a corporate advertiser in our midst. 2. No. 3. Pencil. 4. I don't know if I ever have. If I did it wasn't for very long. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion That's about it for this week. Questions, comments, feedback, and more are always welcome. Have a good weekend!
  4. Intro So, it's been an interesting couple of days. I guess retirement just wasn't in the cards for me. Lucky you guys! Updates So, you should definitely check out the new animations that we mentioned here and here. Despite what many have said, I'm pretty sure they're not actual stop-motion, since the parts like elbows and knees are seen bending. All the same, it looks pretty cool, and you should check it out. We also posted our ninth episode of the BZPowercast! You should listen! It's a lot shorter than the February episode, thankfully. We talk about a variety of things, mainly focusing on BZPower this time around, rather than on LEGO and Bionicle. Tell us what kind of discussions you like more! So aside from the recent fun and excitement (I thought I wasn't going to be able to post this!) we do have some things going on that may or may not have been mentioned but that we are working very hard on. Bear with us. Mailbag 1. No, I find it sad. 2. Sometimes. 3. Tough choice. It's either The Hobbit or The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. 4. No. 5. Time will tell. 6. You'd have to be a staff member first for me to be able to tell. 7. No. 8. Tagalongs. 9. To seek the Holy Grail. 10. Never! 1. And here I thought your mom gave it to you. 2. ESB. 3. That's not a question. 4. No. 5. You're really bad at asking questions. 1. I played some Beatles Rock Band today, and I'm still working on Dragon Age: Origins. 2. The only game I'm looking forward to for the rest of this year is Halo: Reach. 3. Nope. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Ok, lots of other work to do. Spring cleaning you might call it. Have a good weekend everyone!
  5. Intro You guys get a very early update this week, since I'll be leaving for Boston shortly to go to PAX East! Updates Short update this week. I encourage you to check out the awesome pictures LEGO sent us of the upcoming Hero Factory sets. They provide a good look at these sets, with better contrast in some cases than the ones Yannick and I took at ToyFair. We have some more reviews coming for you soon, and other stuff too. So keep your eyes peeled. Mailbag 1. Loving are caring for each other. 2. I think therefore I am. 3. What does what mean? 4. A pronoun used to represent a thing or place. 5. You're missing a predicate. 5 (Again?). How should I know? 1) Mata Nui in 2001. 2) Tahu. 3) Gresh. 4) I have a Gameboy Advance somewhere. 5) Not often. 6) No. 7) Not any of the recent ones. 8) Not anymore. Back in the day I collected cards from the Star Wars CCG. 9) I've been known to play some Hold 'Em or Blackjack. 10) Of course, I own every season on DVD. 11) Yes. 12) Make Mata Nui not a giant robot. 13) No. 14) I don't even own a bike anymore - I should probably get one. 15) Not really. 16) I love reading. Some of my favorites are Tolkien, Adams, and Kevin J. Anderson. 17) Rock. 17a) Harry Chapin. 18) They're mostly in storage right now. 19) A bit. Right now there's not much on that I really like, but I'm looking forward to Doctor Who coming back. 20) Ninja. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Like I said, short and sweet this week. If you're going to be at PAX, maybe I'll see you there! It's sure to be a great time!
  6. Intro It's time for some updates, given to you on the normal weekly basis. What do we have in store for you this week? Updates The story updates have been coming fast and furious. I hope all you story guys are enjoying it. We're going to have a cool announcement for you on Monday, so stay tuned for that. LEGO is pretty awesome, and they like to share awesome things. You may have noticed the forums were offline for a bit last weekend - that was the database maintenance we had planned. Everything went as planned and the database is nice and healthy. Some stuff we've been planning has been coming closer to completion. I'm hoping it'll be before the end of the month, but no promises. Mailbag 1) 8 AM. 2) Harry Chapin, The Beatles, and The Eagles, among others. 3) I have a cat. 4) When you give them their own food. 5) Tron Legacy maybe? 6) Haha. Funny. 7) No. 8) Pizza maybe? 9) Water. 1.- Enjoying life while it lasts. 2.- Water. 3.- It was pizza, and it was tasty. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion So that's it for this week. Keep the questions and comments coming. Have a good weekend.
  7. Intro You know, it's really quite amazing that I do fifty-two of these each year. I'm such a glutton for punishment, or as some would say, a masochist. Oh well, here we go. Updates These week has really been kind of slow. There were the two Mata Nui Saga and one Journey's End updates, but those were to be expected. There was supposed to be some maintenance this weekend, but due to some other issues (not the ones we were going to be maintenance-ing) we had to delay it. I'll do my best to let you know in advance. Hopefully this will fix some IPS Driver Errors people have been seeing here and there. Behind the scenes stuff is still behind the scenes. I'd just like to remind you that the BZPower staff is here to make the site a safe, family-friendly, and informative place. Any administrative action we take is what we feel is in the best interests of doing that. On another note, we are always open to questions, ideas, and criticism, unless, of course, you're rude and insulting when you do it. We tend not to listen to those people. So carry yourself well, and we won't have any problems. Thanks everyone, you're all awesome. Mailbag 1. Who you gonna call? GHOSTBUSTERS! 2. Do you even have to ask? Leonard Nemoy has been, and always shall be, my friend. 3. That was the best prequel, but the original trilogy still wipes the floor with it (the original ones, before George Lucas decided to add CG to them all). 4. Been better, been worse. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Ok, so, back to the grind. There are forums to catch and dragons to be slain. Questions and comments are welcome as always.
  8. Intro Sometimes the weeks go by so fast I feel like someone installed a flux capacitor in my car. Well, here goes nothing! Updates I'm sure everyone's favorite news item this past week was Smeagol4's review of the Large Pink Box. I told him he was crazy for doing it, but he just laughed and kept right on going. But hey, it's LEGO and we're a LEGO fansite, so you guys will have to learn to live with some interesting reviews here and there. Of course since it's March now that means the February episode of the BZPowercast has been posted. Two days before posting I was worried we were going to have a short show without much content and I went scrambling to find people to bring on. I guess I went overboard. That'll learn me though, since I never want to have to edit something that long again. I hope everyone enjoyed it though, it was a lot of fun to record, and as always Smeag and Hahli Husky wouldn't calm down, and Senjo, well she was just as crazy. But they're all awesome, so I forgive them. In some more general LEGO news, our favorite company has inked a deal with Warner Brothers licensing the brand for Travelers Tales games until 2016. Some people have mentioned wanting to see a Hero Factory games, and the more I think about it, the more I see how that could work really well. Maybe next year? Another thing that would be interesting, and goes back to something I mentioned in the Powercast, not only does Disney own the rights to the Muppets, but they now own Marvel. LEGO Marvel sets and games anyone? That would be awesome. In other news, we're working on some interesting changes that I'm hoping you guys like. Not sure when we're going to be able to say anything, but soon I hope. Finally, we may be down for some maintenance this weekend for a while, so if you can't get to the site or the forums, there's your culprit. Mailbag 1. Every so often. 2. A random smattering of places, probably GD and CoT the most. 1. That's a tough one. Probably The Shawshank Redemption. 2. No but I can use my time machine. I won't tell you, however, since that will mess with the continuum. 3. No. 4. A few dozen maybe? I tend to delete some after replying, so it's hard to keep track. 5. I think that's impossible to decide - there's so many good things out there. But I have the feeling I've answered this before somewhere, so take a look around. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion And that wraps things up for this week. Questions, comments, and feedback are always welcome. See you all on the boards!
  9. Intro Since most of my time tonight has been spent on the mailbag, you don't get anything else in this weekly update. Updates Just kidding! We wrapped up our Toy Fair coverage this week, looking at Bionicle, Ben 10, some Hero Factory, the rest of Hero Factory, and some games and LEGO Universe. I hope you all enjoyed it. I know Yannick and I did. Another set review was posted this week; Bfahome reviewed the Wreck Raider to some mixed reactions. Get used to it guys. We'll still talk about Bionicle as much as possible, but we have to branch out a little. There were a bunch of story updates too, so many I'm not going to link to them all. Check out our main page for more details. Some podcast recording was also done yesterday, expect to see the episode go up over the weekend. It's probably going to be another long one, unless I edit all the good stuff out again. Finally, we've been progressing on making some changes to a certain part of the rules, but don't hold your breaths, since it will probably take a while before you guys see something as a result. Mailbag 1) Because they're afraid and/or they hate me. 2) I think the sets have promise. The story will likely be lackluster though. 3) Probably not, but then again I didn't buy that many Bionicle sets in recent years either. 4) There are some really great ones. 5) You mean Toy Fair? Amazing. 6) Oddly productive. 7) More or less. 8) The Toa Nuva. 9) Who said anything happened to them? 10) It's an interesting theme. I don't like this year's sets too much, the colors are garish. 11) None. 12) More or less. 13) Kanoka or maybe Zamor. 14) No, not really. 15) Nope. 16) Um, fine, I guess? 17) Not really. It's mainly a lot of work. 18) The Dark Blue and White Mirus are pretty awesome. 19) The only Zelda game I've played all the way through is A Link to the Past DX. It was fun. 20) Amazon, usually. 21) I don't think I've ever read one. 22) See above. 23) Hard choice. Possibly the Mask of Light comic - much better than the movie. 24) Tahu. 25) Yes, then I realized I'm not a great builder. 26) No. 27) All my base are belong to me. 28) Not gonna ask... 29) Many times. 30) I think they're all equally corny. 31) I knew you were going to say that. 32) Science fiction. 33) No. 34) No idea. 35) For as long as I can remember. 36) Yay? 37) Yes, I usually have a bottle with me at all times. 38) No, but I breathe. 39) See #28. 40) Yes, at least a dozen people. 41) Better than no questions? 42) What is the question? 44) Ketchup. 45) Ketchup. 46) Ketchup. 47) I like to think so. Some people might say otherwise though. 48) The same color I have now. 49) No idea. 50) See above. 51) Nope. 52) Never. 53) Who doesn't? 54) Unfortunately. 55) RPG, of course. 56) Oddly enough. 57) So far? None. 58) Tahu Stars. 59) LEGO? No idea. Bionicle? Tahu. 60) Not particularly. 61) My first car. 62) Yes. 63) LEGO Star Wars and Bionicle Heroes. 64) Eh. 65) No. 66) That's on right now? Burn Notice. Ever? Farscape. 67) SyFy (still hate the name though). 68) He seems like a swell chap. 69) You mean other than spending all my free time running BZPower? Oh wait... 70) I lost track. 72) Too long. 73) I'm well aware. 74) They were very varied. 75) No. 76) I never would have guessed. 77) Sure. 78) I did back in the day. Haven't played any games in years. 79) It's a pretty cool theme. 80) No sadly. 81) The United States. 82) New Jersey (for now). 86) The Makuta. 89) I used to watch the TV show and I've read some comics. 90) Farscape. 91) No. 92) See above. 93) Yes. 94) A Canon SX10 IS. 95) My living room. 96) I'm their son. 97) Unununium. 98) I'm more of an Xbox person. 99) I skipped some. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Back to the grind for me. (I wish that meant the Dragon Age level grind, but I have other stuff I should probably do.) Questions, comments, and feedback are always welcome. Have a great weekend!
  10. Intro Welcome back to our heavily Toy Fair-themed Weekly Update. Updates While I'd love to talk about Toy Fair this whole time, there's actually been a bunch of things happening recently. First up, the thirteenth and fourteenth chapters of the Mata Nui saga have been posted. In addition, the first chapter of The Journey's End has gone live as well. In other Bionicle.com news, Agori Defender went live too. It's a fun little Tower Defense game that's pretty diverting too. In controversial news, xccj reviewed Big Chill, a Ben 10 set. There's been a lot of talk over this and whether BZPower should be review non-Bionicle sets. I hate to break it to you, but welcome to the future. With no more new Bionicle sets, you can expect BZPower to branch out into other LEGO themes. Our focus will still be Bionicle, but there will be other LEGO stuff too. Diversification is the name of the game these days. And then there's Toy Fair: The BeginningPress ReleasesCreative Building & MoreUnlicensed PlaythemesThere's plenty more to come. Our Hero Factory coverage will likely begin tonight, so keep your eyes peeled for that. It was a lot of fun, hanging out with Yannick and other cool LEGO people and getting to see all of this year's sets. I wish you could all come, but hey, it wouldn't be very special then. Mailbag Nothing again this week. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion That wraps it up for this week. Toy Fair stories don't write themselves (and Commander Shepard can't save the galaxy without my help)!
  11. Intro Hey everyone, welcome to this week's update. Updates Not much has been going on, in the big scheme of things. But Toy Fair is almost here! Lots of story updates this week: Tenth installment of Reign of ShadowsEleventh part of the Mata Nui SagaTwelth part of the Mata Nui SagaPrologue of The Journey's End I know I mentioned more set reviews, but things have been busy here. Soon? Mailbag No questions this week. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Time to go back to 1 Versus 100... See you next week.
  12. Intro I am here to enlighten and elucidate you all on this week's happenings, or some such thing like that. Really my goal is to bore you to the point where the rest of BZPower, in its boring-ness, seems fun and exciting. That may be a lie. Updates As I mentioned last week, the seventh episode of the BZPowercast was released. In our longest episode yet, we rant and rave for almost an hour - and that's after I edited things down. (People may tell you I took out the 'good stuff,' but trust me, you didn't want to hear our many off-topic discussions.) There's Hero Factory, nostalgia, and the ever-popular How-To BZP (feel free to submit ideas for the next show). This episode also featured the most guests we've had yet, and the most people in a single discussion. It's one for the record books, so if you haven't already: go listen! Speaking of Hero Factory, it looks like the Canadian equivalent of Toy Fair happened before the US one, and as a result some pictures of upcoming sets were discovered. There's not much other information, put you can rest assured that once I get my hands on that press catalog there will be scans and transcriptions - not to mention all the pictures I'll be sure to take! So the forum staff I promoted last week finally have forums, and Felicia posted her first news story today. It's good to see that we made some good choices and that people are acclimating. Who knows maybe you'll be next (unless you're already staff, then you won't be next). I think that may be it. Do I have anything else? Oh yes. You may be seeing some more set reviews soon. That's all I'm saying... Mailbag Modern man is going to have to wait a bit longer, because I'm not telling. It's partially made up and partially an obscure reference. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Questions, comments, feedback, and mildly-veiled insults are welcome (except for the last one). I will see you all around. Enjoy your weekend!
  13. Intro To keep the theme going, I could be playing Mass Effect 2 right now! But instead I'm updating you on my usual weekly basis. Updates It's been a pretty slow week these past seven days, with nothing I could consider 'eventful' happening in the Bionicle news world. But hey! I finally promoted some people! Congrats to Darth Vader, Iruini Nuva, Nukaya, Spink, and Senjo! I have every faith that they'll do a great job, otherwise I wouldn't have promoted them. I guess this is the calm before the storm then, since ToyFair is a mere sixteen days away (almost two weeks!). ToM and I will be there representing BZPower and having a grand old time. Then we get to share all the pictures with you! Most everything for the next episode of the Powercast is already recorded (and has been for a couple days). I have to edit it tomorrow and Sunday, and then *boom* you'll get to listen to it. Mailbag I don't think she really cares anymore. It's never worked. It was a feature added in Invision Power Boards (the software that the forums are based on) that we decided not to use since we weren't sure if we could handle the additional strain on the server. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion What, you want more? Geez, the universe isn't going to save itself.
  14. Intro I could be playing Dragon Age: Origins right now, but instead I'm typing this for you guys. The things I do for this site! Updates For those of you with deep pockets, you can go check out eBay and place your bid on a solid gold Hau from 2001. It's a truly amazing piece of work if you can afford it. I wish I could. A new podcast went up on BionicleStory.com, Sahmad's Tale. It's good to see some new content covering some different aspects of the storyline. After the reveal in ToyFare magazine of Hero Factory, LEGO released a teaser trailer for the toy line. It's a different look at the new sets, and has a lot of people talking about it. We'll be learning more soon I suspect. Finally, LewaLew reviewed the last Bionicle set of 2010, Piraka Nektann. It's the last Bionicle set for the foreseeable future, which is a sad thing. We haven't eliminated the idea to review non-Bionicle sets, so we'll have to see where that goes. Last week I mentioned staff changes. We're waiting on one person before we can announce anything. Stay tuned! Mailbag I'm waiting until ToyFair to make any kind of judgment on the sets. But the series seems interesting. I was not aware. I hope I'm well-represented. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion That's all for this week. Comments and feedback are always welcome. Have a great weekend!
  15. Intro I could have watched Doctor Who all night, but I figured you guys were probably looking forward to a Weekly Update. Or if you weren't looking forward to it, you were at least expecting it to appear so you could laugh at it behind my back. Updates I wish something exciting had happened this week. Oh well. BZPower received exclusive permission to host Glatorian Arena 3 on our site. Big thanks to Kelly (Binkmeister) for hooking us up, even though we all know he hates us Mac users. I kid. (But a working Mac version would be nice.) It's interesting that LEGO would pay to have this made but then never use it on Bionicle.com - I'm guessing the whole cancellation-thing threw a monkey wrench into their plans. On the general LEGO front, everyone's favorite company launched their Click Campaign, which seems like a rather silly marketing strategy. The video on their site is pretty impressive though. Speaking of online presences, the new Bionicle.com launched this week too. I really like the design (good job Kelly!) and look forward to hearing Worf Mata Nui regale us with some ancient history and current events. Of course the biggest news this week was the first official Hero Factory information and pictures. I think the react to the sets has been pretty positive, whereas the names and the story have received a much more mixed bag of responses. I'll reserve my judgment until ToyFair, seeing as it's less than a month away! I'm pretty sure there's gonna be some more Hero Factory sets revealed then too. So keep your eyes peeled for that! In BZPower news, it looks like there's going to be some staff shakeups coming up. Details are still in the works, but you may find yourself randomly contacted with an offer to get on the staff. (Because that's how we pick the staff - randomly.) Mailbag No questions? No problem! Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion I think that was plenty for this week. Feedback and questions are always welcome. Have a great weekend everyone!
  16. Intro I hope you're all enjoying 2010. Personally I think it's a little cold, even with all this global warming. Anyway, let's see what we have on tap. Updates As we hinted at in our recent episode of the BZPowercast, we kicked off a prototype giveaway earlier this week. It's not too late to enter the Twelve Days of BZPower. Twelve lucky members will be selected to win some awesome prototype pieces - will you be one of them? Continuing our reviews of the 2010, ToM Dracone shared his thoughts on Gresh. This leaves one more left to look at. Enjoy them now guys, before the sets are done with. Cryoshell, the band that formed around making songs for Bionicle promos, releasend an EP on iTunes. For you youngins, EP stands for 'Extra Play,' and is a collection of songs that's more than a single but less than a full-blown album. Some of the songs we've heard before but have been revamped and rerecorded, while others are brand new. If you like their past works, you might want to check this out. It's looking like I'll be recording over at LAMLRadio tomorrow for their year-end wrap up. I'll be showing off some off your awesome MOCs based on the comments you left in my recent blog entry. There'll also be some discussion about the past, present, and future of the Bionicle community. Mailbag 1. Yes. 2. Since I'm not very musically talented - tambourine maybe? If you want to base it on what I'm best at in Rock Band/Guitar Hero, it'd be bass guitar though. 3. 2004-2005. 1.) Any segment where I get to talk to someone else instead of just talking into the mic by myself. 2.) Conversations are enabled using Skype and recorded using Audio Hijack Pro. Mixing and mastering is done in GarageBand. I also use LineIn, Levelator, and All2MP3 for different things too. 3.) Black Six says, "It makes you feel things you've never felt before." 3.) Why are there two number threes? Anyway, that's a tough question. Since I don't want to pick Blink too, I'll go with Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead. 3b.) I've seen all of the new series. I've seen a few episodes of the original series. For Christmas I got The Beginning Collection, with the first three serials of the show. It's been interesting so far. 4.) Stay aware of your surroundings. Don't feel afraid to run away to prevent your death. 5.) No, because then you'll probably beat me. 6.) It's only 10 pounds, but that's more than enough to crush a skull with. 6b.) Like a sledge hammer crossed with a gravity hammer, but even more awesome. 7.) Would I tell you if I did? 8.) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Beast Wars, Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, and too many others to list. 9.) As long as the iPhone it AT&T only, the Droid wins. 10.) Which one? My desktop: Dual 1.8 GHz PowerPC G5 processors, 5 GB RAM, ATI Radeon 9600XT w/ 128 MB VRAM. My laptop: 2.4 GHz Intel Core2Duo, 4GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT w/ 256 MB VRAM. Yeah, they're kind of old. A new desktop may be on the list for this year, especially with The Old Republic coming. 11.) I don't want to ask how long that took you. As everyone knows, 2010 is 'the year we make contact.' Once we meet the benevolent aliens, they shall give us all this technology. 1. Not that many, since I moderate RPG, FCG, and News Discussion. 2. You might have missed the memo, but Bionicle has been canceled. That means a lot less news on the Bionicle front. 3. Why not? Bionicle is LEGO, and the news is LEGO, ergo the news is Bionicle. I see no flaws in that logic. 4. I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion That's all I have for tonight - enjoy your weekend, everybody! Feedback is always welcome.
  17. Intro Another holiday, and another Weekly Update. It's been a quick week with the holidays, but stuff's still been going on. Updates Another review went up this week, this time it was the Rahkshi, looked at by Shannara. Not many sets left, unfortunately. But keep checking for more. Speaking of 2010 sets, we posted a reminder about our Leaked Image Policy. To make sure it's clear, this applies to all LEGO 2010 Summer sets. You cannot post pictures, link to pictures, or discuss pictures (or things you've seen in pictures). If you do, bad things may very well happen. Toy Fair will be here before you know it, and we'll get to see official announcements. Finally, to wrap up the year, we posted the next episode of the BZPowercast. It was good to get a bunch of members on the show and have them share their thoughts. We looked back at 2009 too, and looked forward a little to 2010. It's going to be an interesting year. Mailbag Of course I do. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Welcome to 2010 everyone! I look forward to spending it with you!
  18. Intro Merry Christmas everybody! Yes, I'm doing an update today, but not too long. Updates So we continued our 2010 set reviews last weekend with a Skrall review by Sisen. Hopefully we'll have another this weekend sometime. No promises though. Speaking of the Stars, a new commercial has been appearing on TV. If you know where to look, you can find it online. But please do not bypass the filter in order to link to it. While on the topic of things you shouldn't do, DO NOT POST, LINK TO, OR DISCUSS LEAKED IMAGES. This includes unannounced 2010 LEGO sets. If you do, you will face administrative action. We're working on our next episode of the BZPowercast, and we want to hear from you. We know you all have a favorite year of Bionicle, so let us hear what it is! I think that's enough for this week, considering the holidays and all. Mailbag 1) I haven't read it yet (still waiting for my copy), but the art I've seem looks great. 2) Logically, you'd think it would be Mata Nui. 2a) Mata Nui. 3) Master Chief is a human, Gandalf is immortal. As much as I love Halo, Gandalf would win. 4) So far, so good. 1) RPG, FCG, and Promos. 2) There's a lot of decisions to be made and work to be done. The hardest part is probably keeping track of it all. 3) Getting to give stuff away is pretty sweet. 4) IPB Admin - never. AdvertAlert - not often enough. 5) Why would I log into someone else's account. 6) None. 7) Proto boosts are fun. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Hope everyone is having a happy holiday season. My next update will be in 2010, so see you all next year!
  19. Intro Only a week until Christmas! Wait, does that mean I have to do a Weekly Update ON Christmas? Oh bother... Updates After the slowness of last week things have picked up on the Bionicle front! In addition to the awesome poster from last week, some new 2010 content has appeared on Bionicle.com. Soon though, it'll all be gone to make way for the overhauled version of next year's site! This past week has also seen some 2010 set reviews. Smeagol4 looked at Tahu while Darth Vader shared his thoughts on Takanuva. Two fan-favorite characters reimagined - and it looks like they stack up halfway-decently. Look for another set review this weekend. I'm taking guesses on who it is! For you story fans, you should check out the Bionicle 5 movie treatment posted by Greg Farshtey. What might have happened if Bionicle hadn't been canceled? You'll have to check it out. Remember though, that doesn't reflect what's actually going to be happening in the story now; all the plans have changed. If you want to know what actually has happened though, keep an eye on your mailbox, as Comic 6: All That Glitters is showing up around the country. Some might call it the beginning of the end... *Phew!* I sure hope that's enough... Mailbag Nothing this week! Send some stuff in. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Because I'm a glutton for punishment, there probably will be an update next week, so keep your eyes peeled! Meanwhile, send in questions, comments, and feedback!
  20. Intro Another week done, another update come. Updates So, as always, I'm a fan of plugging the wonderful RPG Contests going on over in the Bionicle RPG forum. We're giving out prizes this time, so all the more reason to create an awesome entry and submit it. If you haven't yet, got get the awesome Mata Nui picture by entering an exclusive BIO Code. Remember, Kelly rocks! Other than that, the holidays have been keeping things busy and news is slow. Mailbag I'm glad someone uses it. 1) Fine thanks. 2) I know exactly where I am. 3) A little over four years I think? Too long... 4) Sir Black Six of BZPower. 5) To keep the site up and running. 6) What do you mean, African or European swallow? 7) That's not a question. 8) 7. 9) I'm just like that. This might just be it. 10) You're welcome. 11) Shoot it! Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Time for things to end for the week. Have a good weekend everyone - leave some comments!
  21. Intro How'd it get to be December already? No, you're not allowed! Go back to November! Drats, not working. Well, in that case, I guess I'll update you guys. Updates Check out my editorial about what the recent announcement of the end of Bionicle really means and how it's not really ending. Go check it out and see what you think. I hope it clears up a lot of misconceptions people were having. Then you can listen to us talk about the same stuff in episode 5 of the BZPowercast. The only real reason to listen though is to hear Smeag sing a song. People tell me his voice is considered 'dreamy.' Also, Than is there. So give it a shot and give us some feedback. Other than that, the Stars keep spreading. Go get yours and remember the earlier days of Bionicle that were super awesome! Also, the admins continue to debate as to when we consider Bionicle dead and have to close the site. I'm rooting for next Thursday. Just kidding. But hey! We should have some Stars reviews soon, so look out for those. Mailbag 1) The lady of the server, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite, held aloft the banhammer from the bosom of the water, signifying, by divine providence, that I Black Six was to carry the banhammer. That is why I am your Admin. 2) 13 years young. 3) Family Guy I guess. 4) As of this moment, I'm a student. That will be changing finally in a little while. 5) The Mask of Light was pretty huge at the time. It was the first time LEGO had ever done a movie. 6) No, no, no. I'm not really much of a Nintendo person these days. 7) The Lord of the Rings. 1. Water. 2. The Beatles Mono Box Set. 3. That's tough, but in my case, definitely The Eagles. Life in the Fast Lane and Hotel California are two of my all-time favorites. 4. Maybe..? Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion That's all for this week. Question and comments are welcome as always. Catch you all later!
  22. Intro Another week, another update. Nothing much has changed. Well, maybe that's a bit of and understatement... Updates So the biggest news of the week is that we finally got our review of The Legend Reborn posted. Go check it out. Ok, so maybe that wasn't quite true. The Bionicle line of sets has been canceled. I actually have a lot to say on the subject, and when I have time you'll all get to see it on the front page. Being an Admin has its perks like that. I will say this: some people have been overreacting to this whole deal. There will still be a Bionicle story for a while yet. There will still be sets that are similar to Bionicle sets. BZPower will still be here for you to talk about the story, post creations, art, and stories. The most important thing is this: LEGO has made the decision to stop making the sets, and no small group such as BZPower is going to be enough to change that decision through means such as a petition. As such, we are not allowing the posting or creation of petitions to bring back Bionicle on BZPower. There's also no need to boycott anything such as Ben 10 or whatever the unannounced line may be. Not buying LEGO sets is going to hurt LEGO and that's going to cause us to get less cool products. So buy things you like - the best way for consumers to get their voices heard is through their wallets. So that's the beginning of my rant, you'll get to see more soon. In other news, we've recorded some stuff for the next Powercast - look for it soonish. Mailbag 1) Hard question. Probably one of the fun pranks that's happened over the years. 2) Since 2001 when it started. 3) An interesting new direction. 4) Hypothetically? We're not going anywhere. 5) Use the can as a tool to escape - MacGyver style. It's going to be a bit of a change, but there's still going to be a story and there's still going to be action-figure-type sets. BZPower will probably change a bit, but we'll still be here. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion That's all I have for this week. Feedback is always welcome, as are questions and comments. Enjoy your Thanksgiving weekend!
  23. Intro Back this week with a little bit more time to do this thing. Let's see what I can come up with. Updates You may or may not have noticed, but with all the staff changes recently, we decided it was time to do an overhaul of the staff forum assignments. I think things are distributed more evenly now, and every forum should have sufficient coverage. I'm hoping we don't have to do that again for a while. So we are doing stuff, just very slowly. Bear with us. In other news, LEGO has not made any official announcements as to what Bionicle is doing in 2010. Also, they've yet to say if or when Bionicle will be ending. So let's stop believing any half-baked rumor we hear. Speaking of 2010, the Stars are here! We don't know exactly how the story is going to play out, but at least we can play with the toys! Also, check out the teaser for the 2010 Bionicle.com game. Looks like it'll be fun! Mailbag 1) I think I'll probably pick up Tahu. I'm almost kind of considering getting a whole set, because of the nostalgia - but if I did that I'd wait for a sale. 2) Mata Nui; I'd want to ask him what it was like to be on the bridge of the Enterprise. 3) All that is good? Master Chief? Dylan Hunt? 4) Chocolate, no question. 1. No. 2. Master Chief. 3. It takes a lot more than he has to take me down. 1. I'm not the one tied up in the chair. 2. Yep, the soldiers I hired. 3. Uh huh. 4. Sure. 5. I know Darth Vader, he's a pacifist. 6. My guess would be Emperor Whenua. 7. So he could blame it on me. 8. If they're cool. 9. Probably. 10. They do? Why haven't I seen this?! 11. Halo: Combat Evolved. 12. Halo. 13. Halo. 14. Xbox. 15. GameBoy Color. 16. Mac. 17. OS X. 18. Inline-5 with a turbo. 19. Manual. 20. BMW. 21. Cold. 22. Bacon. 23. You can only imagine. 24. Must've been the truth serum I injected you with. 25. No and no. 26. Guitars have voices? Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Well, that was a fun mailbag, hope the rest of it was enjoyable too. Feedback is always welcome.
  24. Intro I'm writing this Thursday night and will be posting it early Friday morning. It's going to be short, sweet, and to the point. Updates Not much has happened this week. As some have pointed out, even our front page has been rather devoid of news relating specifically to Bionicle. I guess this is just the lull before the 2010 storm. If you haven't already, make you go fill out LEGO's survey - they want to hear from you! Mailbag 1. This one. 2. Today. 3. Ah, the infamous triple leap year. I'm not going to tell you what I was doing! 4. Buying Christmas presents. 5. Wrapping them. 6. I may or may not be a playing card. I think people who have met me could answer this for you with more certainty. 7. There is no McDonalds across the street, only a deli, laundromat, and a bagel place. 8. All lies. 9. So that's who those people I felt compelled to terminate were... 10. Not slick enough. 11. Because you're creeps. 12. Cereal. Frosted Flakes, to be specific. 13. Nope. 14. Definitely not. 15. Pretty sure I didn't. 16. You'll understand in the future. 17. I'd rather not. 18. That would be my counter-spies coming to rescue me. Ah ha! Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Well that was fun. So remember kids, stay away from macadamia nuts (unless you like them, of course), and come to BrickFair next year!
  25. Intro It's that time again - time for our weekly update. I hope I have something to talk about. Updates The most recent episode of the BZPowercast went up last week. Check it out and listen to us ramble. Feedback is always welcome. I'm going to remind you about our recent promotions. The reason there hasn't been much going on this week is because I've been busy finding forums for them and rearranging staff after all the recent changes. With that said, there's not much to update you guys with. Other stuff is being pushed to the back-burner for now. Please bear with us. Mailbag 1. Hard to say - I've made many great friendships with other BZP Staffers so I don't think I can single anyone out. 2. I can't say, since I haven't seen them all. 3. The Toa Nuva I think. 4. Tahu. 5. Cats, no question. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion I don't know if or when there will be an update next week, busy times, busy times.
