  1. Intro Whaddya mean, trick or treat? It's not Halloween yet! Oh fine, I guess I'll give you a little Weekly Update. Updates If you missed it, check out this topic. Lots of promotions! Yes, I fulfilled on my promise from recent updates! Success! Congrats again guys. Raga and mumu, you'll be missed. Unfortunately things rarely stay the same for long. If you haven't seen the recent new LEGO Universe screenshot, check it out! Jim Foulds is awesome. (Where's my beta invite Jim?) The first official Bionicle Stars teaser has appeared. It shouldn't be long until we get some more official info, so keep your eyes peeled. So, real life has been keeping me really busy as of late, which means no review editing and posting. This weekend maybe? Don't get your hopes up though. In any event, one thing you can expect this weekend is the next episode of the BZPowercast. I recorded a bunch of stuff with some awesome people today. We're going to have some new hotness in this episode, courtesy of the composer of our theme song. Actually, I don't know if I've ever mentioned who wrote our theme song... Oh well, I'll guess you'll have to listen to the next episode to find out! Mailbag 1. There's worse things to spend money on I guess? 2. I'm on AIM just about all the time. If I'm sitting in front of my computer I'm generally on AIM. 3. Adium. 4. Not recently. I played a lot of Warcraft II and Starcraft back in the day (probably before your time...). I still need to beat Halo Wars one of these days... 5. There's not usually any voting, just discussing until we come to a consensus. 6. Nope. I've yet to meet Dimensioneer or Tufi. I never got to meet Mfuss or Ninjo either (former Admins). 1. The awesome people. 2. Tahu. 3. Zelda. 4. Cake. 1. Probably not. 2. Too much work to do/not enough motivation. 3. Things involving chocolate. I usually stay away from the nuts though. 4. Almond Joy and Mounds. I'm not a fan of coconut. 5. As I previously mentioned, I'm a Warcraft fan. One year I went as a mage from Warcraft 2. 6. MJOLNIR Mark V armor, no question. 7. H1N1? More like H1NFUN! I'd say a 2. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Ok, so that's it for this week. What, you want more? That's it, get off my lawn you whippersnappers! As always, questions, comments, and feedback are appreciated. Enjoy Free Candy Day!
  2. Intro Back for more this week? I think you might be disappointed, but we'll see what I can scrounge up. Updates So, our review last weekend was probably not what you were expecting. xccj was very much intent on buying it and talking about it though, so why not? It's definitely not the greatest camera around, but hey, it's got Bionicle slathered all over it! In other news, we may or may not have a review posted this weekend, depending on how busy I am and if I want to deal with editing and formatting it. It looks like there's going to be a third version of the Glatorian Arena game. I haven't heard Bink say anything about this, but that doesn't mean it won't be happening. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Recording of the next BZPowercast should begin soon. Send in some questions to Powercast@bzpower.com if you want to get on the show. Let me know if you have anything you'd like to be discussed too. I talked about some promotions or something in last week's update, and they've yet to materialize. Turns out things might be a bit more complicated than I first thought. But I think we're going to do stuff in stages, so hopefully you'll see some people in new colors soon. If you don't know who's getting promoted yet, it's probably not you. If it is though, and I'm wrong, you should send me a PM so I can get things straightened out. Mailbag 1. Not as many as you might think, but still a fair amount. 2. DS9 is my favorite series. After that it'd probably go: TNG, VGR, TOS, and ENT. The good TOS movies are better than Voyager though, I think. 3. Based on just them and not the actors in general, I think I'd have to go with Picard. 4. You become an admin by spending way too much time on this site for too many years and by making friends with other admins and staff. Oh, and working hard too. 5. Blue. 6. Friendly. 7. 'Enjoy' might be too strong of a word. I prefer 'tolerate.' 8. They should be... Really, I have no idea why, that's just how it goes. 9. No... Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Questions, comments, and feedback are always welcome, so lay it on. Anyway, I have a birthday party to go to tonight, so I'm off to get ready for that. Have a good weekend everyone!
  3. Intro Why'd it get so cold all of the sudden? And what's that white stuff on the ground outside? I really should be sitting in front of a cozy fire instead of writing a weekly update - I'm too good to you guys. Updates It's been a pretty slow news week this week. We had a rebuttal of Click and a new story serial, but that's about it. Hopefully we'll have a new and rather unique review this weekend. So, behind closed doors, some stuff has actually been kind-of sort-of brewing. It's like a big cauldron filled with mystery meat - you never know what might come out. I can give you a few hints though. There's going to be some staff changes coming up. Get your congratulations claps ready. We're starting to plan for the next episode of the Powercast and are taking your feedback to heart. I endeavor to sound more upbeat and not so depressed next time. We're also going to try to make things more interesting in general. If you have anything you'd like to hear us discuss, let me know! In addition to the unique review I mentioned above, we have another one in the works. Definitely not your standard fair, but it's also not a commonplace kind of thing either. Keep your eyes peeled. Finally, we've been throwing around an idea for a new contest. This will be brand new for BZPower, so it may take a bit (read: a LOT) of time and planning. It may necessitate our finally updating certain rules as well. I know, I can hear your jaws hitting the floor. Speaking of rules, some things were brought to my attention recently that I'm not so pleased with. Discussions need to be had and decisions need to be made. Why oh why does it have to be me (see below)? Mailbag 1. Do I have to? 2. Answering your questions. 3. Every single one. 4. Of course. I was still a child when I joined BZPower many, many years ago. 5. I'm up for hanging out with all BZPower Members. Except for that one guy. Yeah, you know who you are. 6. Toa Tahu and Turaga Vakama. I got them both at the same time. 7. Nope. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion So that's it for this week, thanks for reading. Leave your feedback as always, and have a great weekend!
  4. Intro Time for this week's update. What do we have in store? Read on to find out. Updates Shannara shared his thoughts on Thornatus V9 this past week. You should check it out if you haven't already. Hopefully we'll have some more review-like content this weekend, whatever that means. If you have a Toys 'R' Us nearby, you should check it out to get your free Bricktober bricks. Seems like a really cool promotion. And the Ambassadors may or may not have had a hand in it... Speaking of Ambassador stuff, check out the Kids Tech Challenge and the VIP Card Program. Both programs seem interesting, so if you can, take advantage of them. A couple weeks ago we saw the first pictures of the Bionicle Stars sets. Today, the upcoming Ben 10 sets appeared on Amazon. I encourage you all to wait until you can get your hands on them and see just how useful their pieces can be. You may be surprised. In other BZP news, check out the recent small feature that we added to BZPower. Nothing monumental, but hey, it's something. Mailbag I don't think you're specific enough there. I don't think that fits. Like a little part of me dies inside. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. 1. Yes. 2. Because everyone hates me? 3. Of course, how can you go wrong with Birthday by The Beatles? 4. Maybe. Only if you don't snore this time. 5. Nope. 6. Talk sense boy. Conclusion That's all I have for now. Have a good weekend everyone!
  5. Intro Welcome to the Shawshank State Penitentiary. Time to see what's going on behind those walls. Updates So we had a review of Click by Toaraga. If you're interested in this exclusive set be sure to check this out. We'll have more to come soon. If you're in the Seattle area, be sure to head to BrickCon to hang out with some BZPers. It'll be awesome I'm sure. Also, be sure to check out Episode Three of the BZPowercast. I hear one of the people has a really depressing voice though, so be warned. Otherwise it's an awesome show. Mailbag Nothing this week. Send in some questions! Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Short update this week, but maybe someday we'll have some cool news. Have a great weekend!
  6. Intro Wow this week flew by. Lucky for you that means the Weekly Update comes faster. Updates Biggest news this week is of course the new Bionicle sets that were found on Target's website. Some other pictures were found on Flickr, but have since been removed. I have some thoughts on the sets, they're interesting in their own way. Buy that's a discussion for another time. 2010 is getting close though... We had a review of Vastus by our very own Darth Vader. More reviews to come soon about sets, and other things too. What things could those be? You'll have to wait to find out. New chapter of Riddle of the Great Beings went up too, courtesy of Greg and Kelly. Speaking of Greg, I got to say hi to him on my recent trip to Enfield. It was awesome. We're set for prizes for a while. Thanks again Steve! Mailbag 1. Probably give, since news sources usually get a boost. 2. I was unaware, and find it cool. 3. DDoS attacks are distributed, but I don't think they're that distributed. My guess is that it was just a random occurrence. Unless, of course, you believe in the interconnectedness of all things. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion So yeah, it's been a long week, despite how fast it's gone, and I'm tired. Until next week!
  7. Intro Welcome back to your regularly scheduled Weekly Update. Updates This past week we had two set reviews. Kaxium V3 was reviewed by Hahli Husky and was quickly followed by an amazing group review of Mata Nui. Be sure to give them both a read and watch the video review of Mata Nui (and the two bonus reviews that we did because we love you guys so much). Let's not forget that this Tuesday was the release date of Bionicle: The Legend Reborn in the United States. Personally, I'm looking forward to next Tuesday a little more, but hey, the reaction has seemed fairly positive so far, and I hope the movie does well. Not to be outdone, the very next day the new version of Glatorian Arena came out. New characters, new controls, new music, what's not to love? I've only played a couple rounds so far, but it seems like if you enjoyed the first one you'll enjoy this one too. On the BZPower front, today we announced that we want to hear YOU on the next episode of the Powercast. So break out the microphones and record your questions so they can be answered on the next edition of the show! The Powercast is going to be growing and changing with each episode, so if there's something you'd like hear - let us know! I think that's all I got for this week. Mailbag Nothing this week - send your questions! Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Don't forget, tomorrow is Talk Like A Pirate Day - I'll see you landlubbers then!
  8. Intro I'd like to thank everyone using the 'remember-usa' avatar today. We have all changed since 9/11, but we will never forget. Now, onto the update. Updates There's been a bunch of video updates for The Legend Reborn this week, so many, in fact, that I'm not going to even link to them. Just check out the front page. There's been some interesting footage in these videos that really has me looking forward to the movie coming out on September 15th. Four more days. We also had the rest of our BrickFair MOC coverage. If you haven't checked it all out yet, you should. There was a lot of fun to be had and a lot of great creations. Hope to see you all next year! The 'oddest piece of news for the week' award goes to the Bionicle Augmented Reality Game. I still haven't played yet (maybe later tonight). It just seems very random, although it's a very interesting concept. It came as a bit of a surprise though, and who doesn't like surprises? In other news, we should have a review going up this weekend too. I'll let you guess as to what set it is and who the reviewer is. We're also working on getting some links up for the Powercast on the front page, need to make some fancy images, and then I need to find time to update the code (and not be lazy). Not much else going on behind the scenes that I can talk about right now, sorry. Mailbag 1a. Yes. 1b. Not a big fan, no. 2. Hmm, I'm not sure. Probably one of the Mistika or Phantoka from last year. 3. No, I haven't gotten to that point yet. 4. A 2001 Subaru Forester. 5. I live in the US, so very few cars use diesel, and mine is not among them. It doesn't use petrol either, it uses gasoline. 6. Math? Physics? Programming? Pick one. 7. I guess history, I never was a fan of all the memorization. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Never forget what happened eight years ago today, but don't let it prevent you from having a good weekend. See you all later!
  9. Intro It's that time again. You guessed it! It's time for our Weekly Update! Hooray! Updates First off, and let me make this very clear: Do NOT post The Legend Reborn spoilers AT ALL until September 29th. Additionally, and I thought this would be obvious: Downloading movies online is ILLEGAL. Do not post links to downloads or discuss them on BZPower. So, anyway, the BrickFair coverage has finally been going up. We have a long summary of the event, the second episode of the Powercast (which discusses BrickFair), our pictures of the event, and our pictures of some of the MOCs (more to come, honest!). A thousand pictures is a lot, and I have other stuff to worry about and deal with too, but we're getting there. We're also working on editing together the review (it needs quite a bit of work, who new BZPower Staff could be so crazy?). That will get posted eventually. Next year you should come to the event so you don't have to wait for us to post news stories about it! Speaking of events, if you live in the Salt Lake City area, you have a chance to meet Greg Farshtey at Wal Mart in October. Fun fun! Speaking of really cool events, The Legend Reborn gets released in the United States in eleven days! The lucky Australians have it already, and what I've heard has been a little mixed but generally positive. I guess I'll have to wait until the fifteenth to find out for myself. Mailbag 1. In 2001 when Bionicle came out. I started losing interest around the Metru Nui time period and have only loosely followed it since then. 2. I do most of my shopping (for everything) online, so no. 3. Depends on what I'm in the mood for. 4. Farscape. 5. No idea. I started buying CDs in the early 90s, so I didn't really keep track. My latest purchase, however, was Let It Be... Naked. 6. My computer, or at least the hard drives from out of them. 7. Can someone ever be truly happy? 8. Terra Incognita: The Edge of the World 9. Anything worth doing is worth doing right. 10. Totally awesome dude. 11. Hmm, maybe the habit of posting these Weekly Updates. 12. I'm not a huge fan, I've seen a few episodes, but it's nothing that makes me come back. 13. Religion is not to be discussed on BZPower. 14. I'm an engineer: The glass is twice as big as it needs to be. 1. Most of the music I listen too is from the 60s and 70s, with some from the 80s and early 90s. 2. Not offhand. 3. Completely Off Topic. I'm all for deleting it for good. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion And yeah, that's it for tonight. Have fun everyone!
  10. Intro So we're back online and BrickFair is over, so maybe we can actually get some stuff done this time. Updates As I've said before, BrickFair was awesome. I had a great time with everyone who was there and look forward to the event next year. We'll hopefully have some coverage up this weekend. The Legend Reborn is approaching and LEGO is ramping things up in preparation: Amazon clip - "I could use a new weapon" Bionicle.com clip #8 Amazon trailer We got some news about the upcoming LEGO Universe game. I can't tell you how excited and looking forward to this game I am. Hopefully there's plenty of Bionicle stuff in there. Finally, the music video for Bye Bye Babylon by Cryoshell has shown up. Like I said before, BrickFair was a blast. I took over a thousand pictures and have bee sorting through them all. Hopefully this weekend. We have a group staff review we completed as well that should be up eventually. Mailbag 1. I'll take a piece of pizza. If that's not allowed - the cookie is guaranteed to get me sick, but the muffin might not. If those were my only two choices I'd go with that. 2. Lunchbox. 3. Wherever Bionicle is in two years, we'll be right there. 4. Straws are necessary for milkshakes but optional elsewhere. 5. As many as you see posted in my Weekly Updates (read: not many). 1. That's like asking me to pick my favorite kid. But I'd guess Tufi is next in line. 2. Heck yes! Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Have a good weekend everyone! Until next time.
  11. Intro I'm at BrickFair right now, and three hours late on my update, sorry. Updates So I really need to go to bed, but I'll just tell you that BrickFair is awesome. Shout outs go to: Darth Vader Smeagol4 Janus Levahk Lah Kohaku InnerRayg Chocolate Frogs Senjo Friar Tuck Hahli Husky Nikira Alsru Emzee Anyone else I've forgotten. You guys all rock and we still have two more awesome days ahead of us! Mailbag 1. I listened to The Wall on the way down to BrickFair. 2. Yes, twice. 3. No. 4. Yes, and I'm not telling you my zombie plan. 5. That sounds like fun. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion G'nite!
  12. Intro Another offline week... Updates Skopio XV-1 Review by Bfahome. Cendox V1 Review by Great Being #1. LEGO is making a feature length motion picture. I'm looking forward to hearing more. We're working on it... Mailbag Nope, nothing. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Yep...
  13. Intro Yet another Weekly Update very few can see. I don't want to break my streak though. Updates The BZPowercast returns! You don't want to know how long we've been scheming this one. I'm just glad we got it out the door finally. It turns out that once you sit down to record things it can go pretty quickly. Hopefully we can keep turning these out semi-regularly. The forums are still offline. We're working on it... Since no one is around I'm going to make the rest of this short: Mata Nui Rebuttal by Gatanui - a nice second look!Stronius Rebuttal by LewaLew - yes, we'll have real reviews soon, I've been busy!Bionicle at Comic Con- I'd hate to be the guy in that costume.New movie teaser - Vorox attack! Mailbag Nothing this week, for obvious reasons. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Back to fixing the site...
  14. Intro So a Weekly Update this week, but not many people around to see it. Updates So, it's our eight year anniversary and to celebrate we're giving away prototypes. There's hopefully one other thing we may get around to doing. Of course not many people are reading this now because the forums are offline. The admins and staff have been hard at work finding a way to protect the site and reduce the chance of accounts being hacked. This takes time - we have to research fixes, implement them, and test them. So again, we apologize for the inconvenience, but we're doing the best we can. In other news, we got a review up of Gelu, courtesy of Darth Vader. We should have some more material soon. San Diego Comic Con is taking place this week and weekend, and there's lots of LEGO and Bionicle stuff happening. The new Tantive IV set was announced, among other things. I'm looking forward to seeing what else is going to come out of this event. There's a new Behind the Scenes movie from The Legend Reborn, showing some of the voice actors performing their lines. Cool stuff! Mailbag Nothing this week, for obvious reasons. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion So that's about it this week. Hopefully you'll be able to read next week's update as soon as I post it.
  15. Intro Thank goodness it's Friday. Although that does mean I have to write one of these updates Updates If you haven't check it out yet, there's a new The Legend Reborn teaser on Bionicle.com. It's Worf-alicious. It's a bit hard for me to take his part in this movie seriously, if you haven't noticed. Next, go take a survey for LEGO if you haven't already. They're looking for feedback, and they want it from you! We finally got another summer set review up. Check out Smeagol4's thoughts on Ackar and be sure to watch the video too. We should hopefully have another review up this weekend too. Who will is be? You'll have to wait and see! Finally, if you're going to the San Diego Comic Con, check this out! Looks like LEGO and Bionicle are going to have a great showing there - makes me wish I could go. Now, onto more site-related news. The anniversary approaches, and it's looking like we'll have at least one big thing going on, possibly two. Whichever one (or both) happens, members that have been around for a while might find them familiar. Or maybe not, I dunno. Finally finally, a couple accounts have been hacked recently and used to send spam PMs again. We regret to see that this is still happening and are doing the best we can. A lot of people ask me what you can do to be safe. One good way is to make sure you have a strong password for your account, and make sure you don't use it for anything else. That should make it much harder for anyone to gain access to your account through any means. Mailbag 1. Yes. 2. I believe so. 3. Probably, but I forget which things we don't usually turn on. 4. Better than no one sending them in. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Fin. Have a good weekend everyone!
  16. Intro Update time again. But what is there to discuss? You'll have to read to find out. Updates So this past week we found out some more of the voice actors from The Legend Reborn. I think they need some more Star Trek actors on the cast, but maybe that's just me. The bigger news though was that Bionicle.com received a facelift with a whole bunch of summer content. If you haven't checked it out yet, you should. Let's not forget that BZPower's Anniversary is only ten days away. We have a few things being planned, at least one of which involved Prototype pieces. So keep your eyes peeled on the main page. Finally, if you could come to BrickFair (hypothetically) would you like to see a seminar about Bionicle? What would you like to see us discuss, MOCing, storyline, collectibles? Let me know! Mailbag 1. I believe it was Call of Duty 4 on Xbox 360. 2. The backup is always going to affect someone in some time zone, so we have no plans of changing the time the backups are run. 3. That remains to be seen. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Be sure to answer my question above in the comments and leave any other feedback as well. I'm off for most of the weekend to take a little break, so it may be a bit before your message shows up, but don't worry, it's there.
  17. Intro What are you reading this for, isn't it a holiday weekend? Wait, what am I doing writing this? Ahhh! Updates So, what happened this week... The 'Super Chapter Book' Raid on Vulcanus was released. I hear it's longer than the older books, but since there are fewer books this year, that's a small consolation for story fans. If you're still looking for your story fix, the sixth chapter of Empire of the Skrall was posted on Monday. Maybe that'll tide you over. You should also check out this blog entry by illustrator David White talking about some of his projects and the upcoming movie. Let's not forget that the summer sets and vehicles are now available on LEGO Shop@Home in the US and some other countries. There have been sightings of them appearing in stores as well. BZPower will endeavor to review these sets along with the canister sets as soon as may be. If you've been eagerly awaiting these sets, and let's be serious, if you're here you probably are, you should start checking your local stores. On the BZPower front, you need to go check out this topic with pictures of all the prototype pieces I got from LEGO to give away. I'll be working on updating it later tonight and this weekend. Also, our anniversary if fast-approaching! :-o You'll have to wait to see what we manage to cook up. Mailbag Mailbag is empty this week. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion I hope everyone has a happy Fourth of July weekend (if applicable)! See you all later.
  18. Intro Update's going up late this week, but it's still Friday! So read on brave reader! Updates So, contests are starting to wrap up! Got vote in the final polls for RPG Contest #14 and BBC Contest #54, or else Tufi will come after you, and it won't be pretty. Also, we got another set review up last Saturday. Go read Shannara's thoughts on Stronius. The next review might take a little bit before it shows up for certain secret reasons. Don't forget BrickFair is coming! I have a personal announcement I'll be making about it this weekend and BZPower has a couple things planned that you'll hear about sooner or later. We found out some new information about the Legend Reborn DVD release this fall, CLICK FOR POTENTIAL SPOILERS. Yes, I know it's not confirmed, but it seems pretty obvious to me. Speaking of new and unique things, one of the winners of BBCC53 got their prize, the currently unreleased Titan Mata Nui set! I'm not a fan of the color scheme, but at least we can get a good look at the big guy himself now. Finally a couple of rule reminders: Don't bypass the filter, this includes intentional misspellings of inappropriate words. Second, banned members are not to be discussed. Anyway, like I said, stay tuned to my blog for more BrickFair news this weekend! Mailbag 1. Not sure what you mean. Maybe one or two do, but I know plenty that don't. I think it's a cultural thing too, as our collective sense of grammar and punctuation slowly erodes. 2. Xbox: Halo; Xbox 360: Mass Effect/Halo 3 3. It would appear that I've played 499 matches of Halo 3. I don't know if that counts System Link though. 4. That's the answer, not the question silly. 1. I'm pretty sure it was Jim. He's such a prankster. 2. Yes, not a big fan. 3. Can't say that I do offhand. I'd guess the latter tends to be more painful for the recipient though. 4. I've heard a few of their songs, but not a whole lot. Don Henley's There's a Whole in the World brings back some memories (long story) and Joe Walsh's Life's Been Good to Me So Far was awesome to see live. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion And that is it for this week, but not for the weekend! I hope everyone has a good one!
  19. Intro Welcome back to this week's update. It's unfortunately pretty scarce in that department but you can read on anyway. Updates We got some new info on LEGO's new lineup of board games, which look like they'll be pretty fun. I'm looking forward to playing them at some point. And of course we can't forget the good news of BZPower Forum Leader Kopaka's Ice Engineering, aka Byron, getting married! I unfortunately couldn't make it, but I'm sure it was a great ceremony and I'm very happy for the two of them. I hope they're enjoying their honeymoon and I'm sure we'll see some pictures from the ceremony once they get back. Of course, the LEGO stores continue to open, this time in Cincinnati, Ohio. Kohila is there to tell you all about it. Not really much else to discuss this week. Mailbag Since the database crash we've been running backups and other maintenance routines more frequently, which has the unfortunate effect of causing slowdowns. 1. Does yours count? 2. No. As a side note: never trust robots. 3. 123km/12min = 10.25 km/min = 171 m/s = 615 km/h = 382 mph = pretty darn fast. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Well, back to watching a movie for me. Comments are always welcome. See you next week!
  20. Intro What if we could send a man back in time seven days... Then I'd have to do last week's update all over again! Instead, you get to read this all-new one. Updates So on Saturday last week we had our first summer set review, which was, of course, Mata Nui. I think Pat (Darth Vader) did a great job. We'll of course have more Glatorian Legends reviews coming up, as well as the vehicle sets once they're available. On the story front, Riddle of the Great Beings: Chapter 5 was released this week. Check it out if you haven't already. LEGO Stores have been making a lot of news lately. This past week Benjamin (ChocolateFrogs) made it to the Annapolis, MD store opening and got some nice coverage. In July we'll be seeing some stores open in Texas and Oklahoma. Word on the street is that BZPower Global Moderator Toaraga will be at the Dallas one and Forum Assistant InnerRayg and possibly Blog Assistant Darth Vader will be at the Oklahoma City one. I also found out that there will be another store opening at the Garden State Plaza in Paramus, NJ. You can bet that I'll be there, whenever it is. Also, if you live in the UK, you should go preorder Bionicle: The Legend Reborn and get yourself the exclusive Click set. Word has it that if you live outside the UK you can still order it, but without free shipping. I don't know if that includes the set or not though. The disc may also be region-encoded so you can't watch it everywhere. In other news, work has been progressing on our next project. The only thing I'll tell you is that it addresses something that BZPower Members complain about frequently. I think I'll leave it at that. Mailbag 1. Well since the only other person interested in the job that I know of is ChocolateFrogs, I think he'd do a fine job. 2. It makes more sense to me. This way you see what the person is saying without having to scroll all the way through the stuff you wrote. It's just like how emails work. 3. I look for people to ask them. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion And now we're done for the week. I hope everyone has a great weekend! As always, leave some comments and feedback and such!
  21. Intro Seven days have come and gone. It is time once again for our Weekly Update. Read on! Updates This week was pretty busy. If you're a videogame fan E3 took place, which meant a lot of announcements and new games to look at. But if you're a LEGO fan there was some news too. Two new games were announced, LEGO Indiana Jones 2 and LEGO Harry Potter, and we got a new look at LEGO Rock Band. Of course, one of the biggest stories was that the Glatorian have begun appearing in stores and are available online at Toys 'R' Us' website. I think that means it's officially summer! We should have our first set review up this weekend. Guess who it is? Speaking of new sets, we got our first look today at a set we had never even heard of before except in rumors: the Titan version of Toa Mata Nui. He's been compared a lot to last year's Takanuva in terms of scale and construction, and basically looks like a big version of the canister-sized set. So far the reaction has been mixed, but we'll see what happens when people start getting their hands on it. In other LEGO news, everyone's favorite company announced this week that they would be working with Cartoon Network to create a Ben 10 series of sets to be released next year. I don't think anyone was really expecting this, but I look forward to getting a look at them at Toy Fair next year. I mentioned last week that there were some promotions planned. The new Reference Keepers were not what I was talking about, but congrats to Aravagantos, LewaLew, and *onua nuva* fan again anyway! Of course we had another promotion in the form of a new Reporter, Xccj aka Jason, who also deserves some congratulations! Let's not forget the huge number of contests going in on June. There's got to be something out there for you! Finally, the nominations process for the next cycle of LEGO Ambassadors has begun again. So far Omicron and I have been nominated, but we can send up to three candidates to LEGO, so if you're interested, post in the Talkback! I'll be making another entry with information for those interested in writing a testimonial for me this weekend. Mailbag Send in your questions! Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Whew! That was a lot of stuff! I need to take a break now. See you all next time!
  22. Intro Space: the final frontier. This is the Weekly Update of Black Six's blog. It's continuing mission to inform you about BZPower happenings, to seek out new and interesting things, to boldly go where no blog has gone before. Updates I don't think I can live up to that intro this week, but I finally saw the new Star Trek movie so it's on my brain. So I guess the biggest thing this week is the latest story serial update, with the fifth chapter of the Reign of Shadows getting posted. If story is your thing, well you've probably already read it, but if not, check it out now! In other news I've been wrapping up work on a purely internal side project for the site. Nothing you guys need to care about, but I thought I'd mention it anyway. The upshot of this is as a result of the project being finished there's probably going to be a couple of staff promotions soon, so keep your eyes peeled on your PM Inbox. And um... yeah, that's about it for now. Mailbag Nothing this week. Send me your questions! Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Short update this time around, oh well. Hope you enjoyed it anyway, and of course, leave questions, comments, or feedback!
  23. Intro If you're reading this, it means my mission has failed and you must carry on in my stead... Just kidding! It's really our Weekly Update! Updates So, in the past week we had some cool coverage of the opening of a new LEGO Store, courtesy of ferrariguy90. One of the story serials received an update. We also discovered some Summer 2009 set descriptions thanks to Gatanui. Word on the street is that the Summer sets from other LEGO lines have been showing up in stores, so it's only a matter of time before the Glatorian Legends find their way to your grubby little hands. Speaking of grubby hands, I sorted through my bag of prototype parts the other day, and everyone seems to want some of those. I can't understand why though, I mean they're just normal pieces in crazy color combinations that never should have seen the light of day. What's the big deal? Oh yeah, and that contest I hinted at last week? Yeah, that was our Fan Created Games Game Design Contest. Go get coding, you only have until mid-July! Seriously though, we've been planning this contest for what seems like forever and it's good to finally let you guys take a stab at it. Should I give away some Prototype parts as prizes? The FCG Contest isn't the only to watch for though, June is going to be jam-packed. I don't want to reveal our hand yet, but logic dictates that there will at least be an RPG Contest to look forward to. Also, BrickFair gets even closer! We're trying to find a way to help members and staff organize things like carpooling and sharing hotel rooms. Anyone have any good ideas on how we should do it? Speaking of LEGO events, I stopped posting BrickFest pictures. There seemed to be less and less interest (I mean really, it was a few months ago already). If people tell me otherwise I might post the rest though. I think that's more or less all for now! Mailbag I do enjoy a good game of Star Wars Monopoly every now and then. 1. To avoid being flooded with PMs whenever we're online (and it does happen, believe me). 2. That is a picture of me, as drawn by Schizo Kaita and colored by me. Apparently I'm a Sith Lord. 3. When I get to them. Want to see your questions answered? PM them to me and put 'Mailbag' in the subject line. I'll pick the few I like the best and answer them in the next update. Conclusion Phew! That was one of the bigger updates I've done recently, and my third blog entry this week! It's amazing what some time off will do for you. Anyway, questions and comments are always welcome, have a great weekend all!
  24. Intro Enter Sandman by Metallica. Oh wait, this isn't the 'What Are You Listening To At This Very Moment?' topic, it's the Weekly Update! Updates I wouldn't be doing my Ambassadorial (that's such a great word) duty if I didn't remind you to check out the survey that LEGO is asking TFOLs and AFOLs to participate in. This feedback will be extremely valuable for the company and will help out us, the consumers, in the long run - it's well worth it. The fourth chapter of Riddles of the Great Beings has been released. I haven't checked the Talkback topic recently, but does anyone have an answer to my riddle? Bonus points if you do. So, a question for you guys tonight: what are your thoughts when the names of the staff members suddenly change to some random theme? Is it funny? Is it cool? Is it confusing? Is it stupid? Not like it's going to happen any time soon or anything, because that would just be silly. But I figured I'd ask. Mailbag 1. Yes, they're aware of my involvement. At one point, in between being the appropriate age for Bionicle (in their opinion) and where I am now, they thought I was too old for it. But they've come to accept that that's not going to change. They also have realized that the people I know are legitimate and that I've made some good connections, both on BZPower and, for example, with LEGO. 2. I don't really have a set routine. I generally try to check the forums thoroughly twice a day.
