IC: Banua had breached the wall inside of himself that had been holding back his unruly emotions, and now the tide of pain and worry, held back for so many years, came flooding out. “Yes, you’re right. An extra defender always helps, but I don’t think I could go back to that sort of life, not with the deaths of matoran hanging over me. I would never be able to regain that heroic confidence a toa should have, that belief that good will triumph. I would be no good to anyone, a liability. ‘What if I did it again?’ I ask myself. I would hate to fail my people again, but then I think that I could cause as much pain again by not doing anything – wasting this power I have been given. As a toa, I have a Duty to the Great Spirit and to my people, but I seem unable to fulfil it. Vade, what can I do? I daren’t take up the position for fear of failing again, and yet I must.”

IC: Vade considered what Banua said. There was silence for a moment, then he spoke up. "Personally, I think it can only be right to give a second chance."

And kudos IO. You're a pretty sharp kid to understand all that at 9.

IC: Chronn "We are waiting for that fool who thinks his questioning is more important than justice." I muttered, rather irritated with having to wait. I just wanted to beat an signed admittance of guilt from D, kill him, then go back to taking a nap in my office. "And he's taking far too long to do so. I'm tempted to just forget him and bring justice now.?

IC: Kethrye: "And who is this guy anyway? " Kethrye turned his gaze at theToa of Iron, studying him. "As far as we know he could a criminaltoo, possibly a fomer ally of the prisoner." Probably not, Kethryethought, But still, I do not trust him. Best to look at all the possibilities.

IC: Isiak Isiak, with passiveness, faced Shohu and extends a waving grey finger. "Presume not that the Turaga know the mind of the world. We may only know what we do know." Hefting his small bladed staff back forward to Whenua, he continued, "Yes, Shohu and I have heard it from others that the Chronicler's Company are being sought out for across the Wahis. I have not heard of any mentioning Taipu being searched for in particular, and since he was once your aide I reasoned you may be able to provide some information on him. "

OOC: Sorry for inactivity - was busy. IC: "Alright, let's go talk to Whenua," Wiremu gave in resignedly. He dreaded another refusal by the Turaga - Wiremu had no idea what he'd do if Whenua told him to stay in Onu-Koro again. Joske and Wiremu made their way to Whenua's hut, but upon approaching, they heard that the Turaga was talking with somebody else. The Turaga answered a plethora of other voices occasionally, but mostly listened. Joske was always a curious matoran - he pressed his ear to the door to listen - but Wiremu was more polite and timid, and stood back and waited. He didn't have to for long. The door was opened by a hand on the inside of the hut, and Joske almost fell forward as his support swung inward. "Ah, Wiremu," Whenua said, ushering Wiremu into the hut. "Please come in. And bring Joske with you." As they were told, Wiremu and Joske entered the hut. They looked around at the others there - they were hardy-looking individuals, clearly adventurers. Wiremu felt slightly over-awed. "Friends," the Turaga said, introducing the newcomer matoran with a wave. "This is Wiremu, and this Joske. Wiremu is one of our most valuable engineers, a very reliable matoran." Wiremu instantly felt guilty about the request he was planning to make. "Wiremu, Joske," Whenua continued, "These travelers inquire of Taipu. Have either of you seen him recently?" "Yes," Wiremu replied. "I saw him in the shaft - er, that is, the central mine shaft," he explained apologetically to foreigners, "Just the other day, actually. He wasn't talking to anybody, though; he hasn't been for a while. Taipu gets more easily... agitated these days, more sullen. He's very focused on his work... Doesn't like to be disturbed," Wiremu warned.

IC: "Well, it's just... mines work," Wiremu shrugged, increasingly uncomfortable with being a center of attention. "He's probably the strongest matoran in our Koro. He breaks up the really hard rock that other workers can't. At least, that's what he used to do... I'm not really sure if he's still doing that." Seeing the interested look on Isiak's face, Wiremu hastily corrected himself. "But, you know, that's only because I haven't been down the shaft lately. I've been busy in the Lightstone caverns. I'm probably not the best authority to say-" "Taipu is still doing his normal work," Whenua broke in in his rocky rumble, cutting off Wiremu's rambling. "He does not shirk his duty for his sullenness - rather, his work seems to distract him, and he works at it perhaps even harder than before. But Wiremu was correct in his first assumption. Taipu works in the shaft as before, if perhaps with less interaction with his fellows. Taipu's friends worry, as do I."

IC: Isiak The Turaga placed his hand on his chin, pondering. "I see. I thank you for this information, Wiremu. Farewell Whenua, I believe that we shall leave to seek Taipu out. Let us go, Shohu." OOC: I presume that Tahu Nuva Golden would leave with me, and with good reason (there is nothing else left to say), and so he leaves with me.

IC: Kirgon "I never said that, I said there are no seconds chances. It doesn't matter if they deserve one of not, they aren't getting one." The Matoran commented, seeing a Toa walking by. "Black and Green? Someone has no taste in color."

IC Jokar - Onu-Koro - Talking to Kirgon: Jokar stopped in his tracks, taking three steps backwards to look down at the Matoran beside him. "Black and Green? Someone has no taste in color," Jokar said, mocking his voice. "Little boy," he said, kneeling to Kirgon's height, "What would your mother say if she heard you talking to people like that?" he said, being utterly and completely sarcastic, though. -Jokar

IC: Kirgon "Yeah, whatever you say, you overgrown Brakas." Kirgon sneered in irritation at the sarcastic comments, even if they were sarcastic. "What would my mother say? The same thing your mom would say if she saw you wearing that armor, 'Kirgon is right, it is ugly.'."

IC: The toa’s response was slow in coming, but it came with more assurance. “You’re right of course. It’s all in my head why I can’t defend the koro, but that will take time to overcome. How is this, then? I shall come out of retirement, starting tomorrow when I will accompany you to Po-koro. Then, at least, if things go wrong, even as my heart says they must, I shall not be able to cause as much destruction out in the open wilderness as here in these crowded tunnels. Should your errand prove a success, we shall know that I return with Mata Nui’s blessing. If not, I shall return to the mines with a clear conscience, knowing I was never destined to be a hero.” By the end of his speech, Banua’s eyes had regained some of their former fire, their steely purpose. Here was Vade, a matoran, a member of the community who had suffered his lapse, and he still wanted him back, in spite of the danger. His heartlight flashed stronger at the thought of a concrete chance of redemption; another mission after all these years. OOC: That's all completely negociable if you don't want to go though. On the other hand, it might be fun :)

IC Jokar - Onu-Koro - Talking to Kirgon: Jokar's expression turned annoyed, and he stood up from his kneeling position. He looked at the being standing next to him, "You ought to get your pet checked out, I think its sick," he said, glancing down at Kirgon. He wondered what could have possibly put the Matoran into such a bad mood, of course, it was possible that he was like that naturally, but Jokar didn't back down from people like him, no matter their size. Well, unless they were 40 million feet tall, then he might back down. OOC: Jokar will become the troll of the century. >83 -Jokar

IC: Mero Kiap - Onu-Koro Streets Mero looked to the newcomer and back to Kirgon. The guy had a mouth, and guts. He shuffled a little where he was standing. He looked at his own black and green armor, "What about that sickening blue and yellow? They don't exactly give you the appearance of a fashionable young Matoran."He looked at the similarly dressed Toa, "He's not my pet. Nobody could handle a mouth as a pet anyways."

IC: Kirgon The Matoran smirked at Jokar's irritation. Sure, a Toa was more powerful than a Matoran, but this Toa didn't have the same skills with insults Kirgon had. "At least I don't wear green, like the two of you. Green has to be the ugliest color to exist." Kirgon remarked to both people angrily, he liked his armor. "And calling me a pet to a scorpion-Toa, clearly someone needs his eyes repaired. And a boot to -" What his said next was rather rude, and not of friendly language. OOC: Oh, it is so fun to be back as Kirgon!

OOC:Looks like the whole gang's together again. [/Frenchy from Grease] IC: Mero Kiap - Onu-Koro Streets Mero sighed. He smacked the Matoran in the back of the head with his tail, not hard enough to hurt, but enough to shut his mouth, "Do your words ever get you in trouble?" He wouldn't be surprised if they did.

IC: Mero Kiap - Onu-Koro Streets"Really?"Mero flipped his tail around Kirgon, as though it was looking at him. Every time the Matoran turned to face the tail it moved again. He tapped Kirgon on the shoulder with his tail, and as he turned around Mero bopped him in the face again. He chuckled a little.

IC: "You were on a team?" Agni asked. This put a new light on things. He'd known about a few other Toa on the Island. Over a dozen had shown up in the reports and more were known all over the Island. He was one of them too, having come into being after the Mata had vanished. If Valria was part of a team, maybe they would be able to help as well."Do you think your brothers are still around?" he asked. The Toa of gravity shrugged at first. Agni could see she was getting tired. Not surprising, after the long trip on foot and the crowded market."Maybe we should discuss this somewhere where we can rest our feet."

IC: "Th-that would be nice." She replied, she really needed to rest, the amount of duress from not only the foot travel, but the all the new memories was quite a bit for Valria to shift through. As she followed Agni, she answered his question. "I-I-I don't know..." She sniffed, upset that she would have forgotten so much, and also because...remembering them made her sad for some other reason. OOC: The team consisted of at least five Toa, currently the only ones alive are Valria and Alrin, both worse for the wear.

OOC: But Agni doesn't know that, unless she tells him ^^ IC: The Toa of fire felt sorry for Valria. The other Toa had gone through such an ordeal that her own mind was keeping her from remembering it.He could see the troubled look on her face. "You'll remember...eventually." he said, trying to comfort her. OOC: I don't know any inns here...you wanna make up a place or choose where to go?

OOC: I know, I was just letting you know, of course she doesn't exactly remember all this and sometimes I write stuff like this so I remember. IC: She nodded, but it was a bit harder to bite back the tears, the memory of Alrin and Mervik had stirred something inside of her and it obvious was bugging her. Subconsciously she was being affected and that's what made this even worse, she didn't know why Alrin and Mervik had her mood slipping. OOC: Try something like the Ussal Inn, I really don't have any ideas for a place. But an inn regardless would be a good idea. This will probably be my last post for awhile tonight, I got to watch a movie, take some notes on it and write a paper.

OOC: I wont post much tonight either. It's late. IC: Agni was thinking of a place to go for the two of them when the answer literally popped up in front of his face.He looked over the building. It seemed nice enough to stay in for a few hours, before continuing their search.A sign above the door read Ussal Inn. "I would say this place is as good as any other." he said and waited for Valria to go ahead. The two Toa went in through the door and into the Inn. Just like the market, the Inn was filled with patrons and was relatively noisy. Agni led them through the crowd and found two seats in a more secluded corner, in an alcove made of solid rock. They sat down and the Toa of fire signaled waved a waiter over to the table to order some water.

OOC: B-e-a-utiful save Nuju. Well played! :D IC A little part of me desperately wanted to go with them... I could smell adventure, taste the excitement, and something in my gut told me that this was important, very important. However, I had a job to do, a promise to fulfill... and a turaga to convince. Joske, visitor. Turaga Whenua, home team. Advantage: Whenua. Most definitely Wheuna. I gave the slightest hint of a smile, cracking a knuckle behind my back. I loved a good challenge. "Turaga Whenua, thank you so much for seeing us on such short notice." I began with a flourish. "As we can see from our decision to drop in, you are indeed a very busy turaga, trying to manage not only an entire village, but also assisting adventurers in their goals. That is, in fact, the reason I came with Wiremu today." I didn't have to look back to see the horrified look on Wiremu's face, waving his hands and frantically trying to get me to stop. It was obvious I wasn't being subtle, and it made the reclusive matoran even more uncomfortable. He's gotta learn to get out of his shell one of these days. "See, I believe that all this hiding under a rock makes for a stuffy existence," I said, plowing right ahead, "getting used to certain things, becoming comfortable and complacent, eventually ideas becoming stagnant from lack of inspiration. The mind is a terrible thing to waste, and while I understand you will completely disagree with me on this, I believe Wiremu here is wasting his." I could feel him die behind me. Unruffled, I continued. "As you just mentioned, he is one of you most valuable matoran, and rightfully so. The Onu-Matoran hold the idea of Prosperity, of hard work, of steadfastness as their greatest ideal, and to live that the greatest goal. I pose to argue to you, oh Turaga, that while this is correct and an exemplary virtue, I feel as though perhaps that he would be able to work better, proposer more so to say, if not under an isolationist policy." Whenua raised an eyebrow. "See, there is a whole island out there, filled with wonder, knowledge, and learning, a whole landmass in which my dear friend has not experienced. You have seen for yourself the magnificent works he had produced, all that coming from a mind that has for most of his life been stashed away in a hut, allowed out into the Koro and mines based on good behavior, repair, or dare I say... inspiration! That is in fact, what I am driving at!" I made a dash for the turaga, all excited and standing really close. "You have seen what he can create locked up here... image what would happen if you let this mind loose on the island itself! When he sees the Le-Korian floating village and their lift apparatuses and flying gizmos, the trees and all their magnificence, what kind of inventions do you think he will see out of it? The Ta-Korian war machine and gear technology, the watery world of Ga-Koro, the magnificent sculptures and stone workings of the Po-matoran, the secret knowledge of the Wall... you let this mind out there, to see it for himself, to see the world how it actually works, do you not think his productivity would explode exponentially? What kind of marvel and wonders could he dream up and bring back here when he was done, what kind of weapons, defenses, inventions could he imagine to better aide ALL of us?" As much as I was making an argument, and making it grand, I was also being honest. I was utterly convinced Wire could make or invent anything... I mean we could be in the heart of Makuta's Lair and all we had were belt buckles, shoelaces, and a piece of gum, he could build a nuclear reactor out of it! Seriously, he was MacGyver, MacGagdet, MacGimmick, but stuck here... he was nothing but MacUseless! Whoa... where'd THAT come from? What's a MacGyver? I shook my head to clear my rambling thoughts. "In conclusion, Turaga, I am pleading with you, give him a chance to see the island, let his explore and see things as they really are. Maybe his destiny is not to be penned up here... maybe it's out there, somewhere. Who knows? Maybe he might come back with something that could save us all." OOC: anyone know where I pulled THAT from? :sly:
