Hapori Tohu
The Cuusoo Ghostbusters reveal wasn't the only thing that LEGO had planned to announce at Toy Fair this year. They also took the wraps off 70810 MetalBeard's Sea Cow, a giant pirate ship featured in The LEGO Movie. This is truly a vessel to behold, and might be the biggest pirate ship we've seen to date. And of course it also features the double-decker sofa! Read on to see the designer video, pictures of the set, and the full press release. Eljay: Toa of Mangosteen
I didn't want to have to do this, but I must. BZPower members, young and old alike, join with me and sign my petition to get the staff to correct their error and call the double-decker Couch what it must be called. They have wronged the Lego community by referring to it as a double-decker Sofa. We must get this fixed, for this is the first step toward correcting the wrongs of BZP's past. Anyhow, this set looks amazing. I've known about its existence for a while, but it is still impressive seeing it here with these pictures. I find it funny how they actually put a crack in Benny's helmet. =P 6 Quote ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Three Virtues | Eljay: The Becoming | BioCraft: Chronicles Go give a read to an amazing epic, Seven Lives... dotcom
This set is just ridiculously amazing and I'm going to try my darnedest to get it. I've never gotten a set over $90; but having my first truly big set be from the movie sounds extremely appealing. It's fairly expensive but for that amount of parts and those minifitures it's more than worth it. (I mean, to get Vitruvius and Benny in different sets you'd already be spending some 170 dollars, and this set has both plus all those other characters and this rad pirate ship) It's a great looking set

Meiko
Hopefully I can get a hold of this set tomorrow. If I do, I'll have a review up on Brickipedia by Tuesday, or Wednesday at the latest. J46 Nui
This set look amazing, but there is no way I can afford it. I really want the double-decker couch. Quote PSN ID: darthlegoGamertag: SPARTAN J46Steam name: jumpy46
Meiko
This set look amazing, but there is no way I can afford it. I really want the double-decker couch. Most of the parts to it will probably be online at Pick-a-Brick or Bricklink in a few days or weeks. Jean Valjean
You know, I actually liked this movie enough that it has me interested in LEGO System again, and I think I just might want this set sometime. Too bad I have to pay for college. *glares at wallet* Release the Kragghle!
Space: Ocean of Awe
If I can overcome my perfectly rational fear of spending too much money, I will totally get this. And I'm loving Benny's cracked helmet. Maybe next time I go to New Hampshire...cheaper US prices + no tax makes it far more appealing! =) Quote "Baby, in the final analyses, love is power. believe victims
This is one slick-lookin ship and I totally want it because Metalbeard was the best character in the LEGO movie to me

Obsessionist
Love listening to the mast rattle during the entire video. But seriously, amazing set. I want it. It would be worth it for the couch alone.
Kaxix
The set is of course fantastic. However, even if there are a lot of pieces, I think the price is too high. Maybe 200-210 $ could have been a more appropriate price. Edited February 17, 2014 by Kaxix

Maybe 200-210 $ could have been a more appropriate price.More affordable, sure, but the set would need MAJOR redesigns if it were meant to be sold at that price. A 2741-piece set MIGHT be able to hit a $200 price point (the Town Hall set had even more than that)... unless many of those parts are large parts like pirate ship hull segments, pirate ship mast segments, and large Technic panels. It's rare for any LEGO pirate ship to have a price-per-piece this good — contrast Imperial Flagship, which was previously the largest LEGO ship of this sort, and cost $180 for fewer than 1700 pieces. Sorry, I meant €.but I typed $. The fact that they directly translate American into European prices is unfair. Currently 250 $ should be converted to 182 €. You're lucky you don't live in Australia or South America. As I understand it, they have some of the worst LEGO prices in the world. It's partly a matter of differences in the cost of doing business in different countries, and partly a matter of how much TLG thinks any given market can bear (some countries have low costs-of-living and high average salaries, so families have more money to spend on luxury goods like LEGO). Not to mention European prices include VAT (value-added tax), while the U.S. taxes items at the point-of-sale (so it is not included in the catalog price/RRP). This page on Wikipedia seems to be the main one that deals with this issue (it's not just a LEGO issue, but one that affects lots and lots of consumer goods). But that might not address all the issues related to international LEGO pricing discrepancy. I'm hardly an economics expert; all I know is that there's a lot more to it than just the exchange rates of global currencies. Look for example at the set you were talking about in your previous post. 180 $ - 150 € ! I really like the Sea Cow, but unless I find it discounted, I won't buy it at that price.
