But I've never seen it before. It is the only two in my entire collection. You know how a 1:1 has little ridges on both the top and bottom, this one doesn't. It is completely smooth like a 1:1 3mm

I have one somewhere in my collection. I prefer the pins that have replaced them.

Like this, right? Looks like Lego stopped using it in the 90's, but it does appear as alternate in Gali and Pohatu. Also, strangely enough, Lego dug out the mold to use it in X-Men vs. The Sentinel in red. I wonder why it was so important?

The inventory for that X-Men set is not yet approved, so including that instead of the ridged version is likely just an error.
