bionicleuniverse
Hi Guys! Did you knew that there are actually two different infected hau's? As some of you know I found a lot of mask bags a while ago and pulled some infected hau's from the packages. Just today I noticed that the ones from the packages were all having a less bright color then the ones from the muaka & kane-ra sets. Did someone knew this allready as I never read anything about two different infected hau's out there? http://imgur.com/ZqYJ8D0 Link doesn't seem to work yet, If interested send your email below and I send you the pictures! Xboxtravis
I seem to recall that the classic infected Hau was a black Hau; which was then hand painted by a Lego employee. It would explain a reason for variations, and definitely makes each one unique. That's what I heard, but somebody should fact check it to make sure. If it was hand painted it looks like they used burnt sienna as the color. That's a pretty popular color among scale modelers to recreate rust. Taria Pakari
Image linked here I also recall hearing the hand painted thing, and I suppose given the differences between all these masks I can see that being the case.
emily
I'd imagine that they must've used slightly different tones of grey paint across batches. interesting find! 2 Quote believe victims. its actually not that hard, and youd look kind of bad if you were to, say, side with an abuser because theyre your friend

Xboxtravis
I'm still fascinated that they were hand painted. Lego has such an automated factory, I imagine that back in 2001 they must have hired a large group of temporary "Hau painters" to work for them. 2 Quote All aboard the hype train! bionicleuniverse
Also did you knew that the mask bags weren't that random at all. I opened about 200 bags and about 12 times I got an infected hau and they always were packed with another toa mask and never with a turaga mask.
