Hapori Tohu
Variety has announced that the sequel to the 2014 hit The LEGO Movie has been delayed from May 18, 2018 to February 8, 2019. No reason was given for the delay, but this does mean it will be coming out the same weekend the original did, in a period that traditionally doesn't have a lot of large films. May tends to have a lot of big-budget productions, and in 2018 we'll see the release of Avengers: Infinity War - Part 1 and the Star Wars Han Solo movie, which might have outshone LEGO a little bit in the box office. At least we have the LEGO Batman Movie and the Ninjago movie next year to help tide us over! View the full article Quote News Forums Q&A
Toa Smoke Monster
I didn't realize that the Star Wars Han Solo movie came out in May of 2018. With that movie plus The Avengers movie going into theaters roughly around the same time, it probably would've hurt The Lego Movie Two's sales a bit. So it wise for Lego to move its premiere date. Lenny7092
the Star Wars Han Solo movieUgghhh No one wants a Han Solo spin-off What's wrong with the Han Solo movie? Anyway, back on topic, it's sad to see The Lego Movie 2 being pushed to a later date. I can see that it is a reasonable choice because there are big and highly anticipated movie going around in 2018. It would hurt Lego's budget office for TLM2 if it doesn't move. I think 2019 would be a good choice, but there is this Justice League sequel and Avengers: Infinity War Part 2 movies coming up in that year, too. They're big. Hopefully, TLM2 would come out successful that way. Quote I like Lego, Bionicle, and Hero Factory!

It's not Harrison FordPrequels are almost always terribleDisney is ruining Star Wars by churning out a movie a yearIt's not Harrison FordNo one cares about Han Solo noodling around as a teenagerIt's like a Star Wars movie about Luke shooting womprats in his T-16. 25K Now!
Han Solo's days working for the Imps in the EU were fun, though yeah I gotta say a Han Solo movie's not particularly appealing to me either. Makes sense that Warner Bros is shifting some dates around. Just in case they need to keep their tentpole franchises alive.
