IC: Olivia Seaton

The Gardevoir sent yet another Will-O-Wisp at the Magical Leaves, though since they came much closer than before, the ghostly flames could not do much against the leaves which struck Amethyst. With a cry, the Gardevoir collapsed on the ground, seemingly fainted. However, she slowly, but surely rose onto one knee, looking over at Blade.

"I wholeheartedly agree. But I don't agree with embracing it."

And that is where you are wrong. Amethyst said triumphantly.

Haven't seen one of these in a long time...

Blade laid on the ground, wondering where he went wrong, as he whited out. Surprised, Zach recalled his faithful Pokemon, and smiled.

"That was amazing!" Zach said, as he looked over to Olivia with a smile, shocked that the victory went to Olivia; but very impressed at that too.

IC - Sonja Baron - Opelucid City: For several moments, Sonja did nothing but stare past Ray. After a while, she looked down, the corners of her mouth turning upward in a surprised smile. "I guess we'd better get shopping pretty soon here, then," Sonja said to Ray. She hadn't realized that his birthday was so close by, either; the more she thought about it, the more she became aware of the fact that she hadn't celebrated anyone's birthday for a very, very long time . . .

At that moment, Ryan arrived, inquiring as to what they were discussing. Sonja placed her hands in her pockets. "Ray and I both have birthdays coming up," she said. "We were just talking about it. Wondering when everyone else's are." She shrugged. "I know Kyle's isn't until December, but that doesn't cover Evan or Ellen. Or yours." Looking squarely at Ryan with that comment, she turned to Drayden. "Hello, sir. Glad to see you're alright. Can you and Team Plasma sort out everything from here?"

OOC: Ryan IC coming later

IC: Ellen
Chrono raised an eyebrow as the pink Sneasel approached him. When the Sneasel turned to Terry, the Herdier eyed the Ice-Type warily before giving a curt nod.

Ellen closed her eyes. At this point the mention of her potential hardly phased her: it seemed everyone was sensing some hidden ability she possessed. But making a good spy? That was a new one.

"A spy?" she questioned. "Is that what you are?"

Hold up, lady, Duo said, projecting his thoughts for everyone in the vicinity to "hear." Most of the passerby ignored the mental words, assuming them to be part of the general chatter that pervaded the crowded city streets. Everyone's been saying Ellen's got potential, the Duosion continued. But just what sort of potential do you see in her? 'Potential' is a very general term, you know.

-==IC: Ray==-

Ray nodded with a smile to Sonja's comment, as he saw Ryan return, along with the explanation of what the discussion was about. Ray looked pasted Ryan over to Drayden, and recognized him now that he was close by.

"Drayden, sir, I'm a big fan!" Ray said, as there were a bunch of things that Ray was impressed about; his long tenure as a gym leader, which his parents had told him about, and the fact that he lasted so long as Opelucid's mayor, keeping the city relatively safe until the last little while.

-==IC: Amelia==-

Sina nodded slightly in thanks to Terry. She looked to Chrono and began to say something before interrupting herself mid-whine again, looking guiltily over her shoulder at Ellen for a moment before turning back and more quietly murmuring the rest of her earlier question to Chrono.

"'Potential'...it's simple really. You don't see the world in black and white. You don't just assume something's irrelevant just because you don't understand it. Believe it or not, that's not a common gift. The ability to think with an open mind..." Amelia looked to one of the billboards atop the buildings on the north end of the city, most of them covered in political propaganda. "This war--the one that's been going on for twenty years, the one that's on pause (and it is paused, not ended)--the whole thing could have been ended much sooner, or even avoided entirely. If the Shadow Admins had considered they might have been wrong, or all the rebels over the years considered Team Rocket might have had a few good points, then the war could have been fought with words, not weapons. But closed-minded people just can't see beyond the idea that they're always right--especially if they're wrong. Team Rocket sees the world that way, but they're not the only ones at fault--Team Liberty sees the world in black and white, too. But you and me? We question things. We ask why. We see the Gray. And spies like me--we live in the gray. It's where we thrive."

IC - Jupiter - Eterna City: Jupiter watched Amanda's departure, all but glaring after the Plasma Agent. Try as she might to convince the Galactic Admin otherwise, her point was off, and not at all based in practicality. Jupiter had not been exaggerating when she had said that Team Galactic was destroyed: With the exception of the few agents who had not been stationed in Nova that day, virtually all of their personnel had been killed, dissolved by the dark phantom that Envy had summoned. They were gone, as well as any and all research that had been kept at the facility. Even if she could gather all of the stragglers together, it would take years--decades, even--to get anywhere near the kind of developments and discoveries that they had been working on at the time of Envy's attack.

Even so, she would concede one point: The entire organization was not gone. Jupiter herself still lived, and that, at least, was something to work from. Perhaps the remainder could accomplish something if they put their minds to it . . . But, no doubt it would be nothing significant. She sighed, casting her gaze to the Grotle nearby. Were it not so utterly adorable, she might have gotten annoyed at the look it was giving her, an almost perfect mirror for what Amanda had insisted.

. . . Huh. Jupiter frowned, realizing that she knew this Pokémon from somewhere . . . Carefully, she approached, stooping down and holding a hand out for the Grass-Type to sniff, before reaching forward to pet it. All the while, she watched it, troubled and intently. "You're not here by yourself, are you?" she asked, not referring to the Piplup next to it. "Tell me . . . Where is your trainer?"

-==IC: Wiggy & Pippi==-

The Grotle rumbled and turned its head to look towards the ruins of Nova. Wiggy lumbered a few steps away from Jupiter, then turned his head to look at her, beckoning her to follow him. Pippi squeaked in disbelief, but unlike with Amanda the Piplup recognized the Galactic Admin's strength; swallowing her pride with great difficulty, she hopped onto Wiggy's back and waited for him to lead Jupiter to their Trainer.

IC: Ryan

"Why thank you," Drayden nodded to Ray. He nodded at Sonja as well. "You and your friends fought wonderfully. You prevented what could have been a much bigger disaster. I'll be able to take things over from here."

Ryan's heart skipped a beat as he locked eyes with Sonja. He was pleasantly surprised to see that she seemed genuinely interested in when his birthday was -- especially considering she had told him she wasn't much of a Christmas person. Ryan slipped his hands in his pockets, staring at a cobblestone by Sonja's feet as Drayden spoke.

"August sixth," he said when the Opelucid mayor had finished speaking, looking back up at Sonja. "That -- that's when my birthday is, August sixth. Ellen's was back in April... I'm sorry, I didn't even think to invite you over for that. As for Evan, you'd have to ask him yourself." The Liberty agent frowned. "Although now that Evan's ditched us, we don't have a ride back to the Alamo, let alone any way of finding out when his birthday is." He idly thought about Kyle's apparent December birthday, wondering if it had occurred when the group was in Unova. Had he been able to celebrate his birthday with his father, Richie? Ryan's eyes darted to Ray before returning to Sonja. "So what about you?"

IC: Zoe

"Pfffft-guahahahahaa!"

Zoe tried to contain her laughter at the sight of her sister's completely dumbfounded expression as a Monferno danced on her head, lifting himself into a handstand. Needless to say, she failed miserably in controlling what had now escalated into a fit of giggles. This also had the unfortunate side effect of causing the brisket Zoe had been chewing to spray out in front of her. And Colette, who was sitting across from her, happened to be directly in the line of fire.

IC: Olivia Seaton

Upon seeing both their Pokemon collapsed, Olivia frowned, the outcome looking to be a tie. However, once Amethyst rose up, that frown became a look of surprise, and then a smirk. "Looks like I win." Olivia said while chuckling, ignoring Zach's comment. "Amethyst, you won the battle!"
Still breathing heavily and on one knee, the Gardevoir looked back to her trainer with a smirk as well. ....I said I wouldn't disappoint you, did I not? Amethyst said in between her breathing.
"Well you certainly kept your promise." said Olivia while recalling Amethyst. Looking again to Zach, her smirk grew. "Good battle." she said while snickering.

IC: Ruth Fishers

Upon hearing Arius say he wouldn't challenge the Gym, Ruth finished her current bite and looked over. "Why not? It'll be good experience for your Pokemon, and I'm sure your Honedge would be able to take on the Gym pretty well, if it's still a Rock Gym." she said. "Why not just go for it?"
Meanwhile, once Fuerte finished his food, the Hawlucha pulled a quick series of poses before letting out a triumphant cry, issuing a challenge to the other's Pokemon. Locke continued picking at her food, not letting her previous failure slow her down in coming up with new pranks to pull, her eyes sneakily darting back over Jake, Arius, and their Pokemon. Caliburn rolled his eye at their antics, moving over to Hexcalibur, communicating to see whether the Honedge wished to battle in the Oreburgh Gym.

Haven't seen one of these in a long time...

-==IC: Zach==-

"Yes, yes, I realize I made quite a few flaws in judgement there." Zach said with a chuckle as he got the intention of the snickering, as he walked forward, and held out his hand to Olivia with the intention of it being shook.

"Was a very good battle, though, nicely done." Zach said with a kind smile to Olivia; whatever caused her to regard him differently recently, he hoped had been fixed by the fight.

-==IC: Ray==-

"Mine's July 11th." Ray mentioned and then frowned, as he considered everything Ryan was doing right now, especially him acting all odd about the birthdays and such. Shaking his head, he let Sonja have the chance to speak for herself, and instead addressed one big problem in Ryan's speech...

"I don't know if you've noticed, but I just so happen to have a teleporting Pokemon, and have visited the Alamo a couple times now. Aizen, would you like to help out?" Ray asked, as he sent out the Kadabra in question, who looked over at Ryan with a smirk, and then nodded, and focused, as Ray paused.

"Wait, wait, not yet!" Ray said, as the Kadabra looked at him skeptically, and sighed, canceling the teleportation until everyone was ready.

-==IC: Colette==-

Colette was rather shocked at the fact that the Monferno did a handstand on her head, and simply blinked; but did not move. Unluckily, that also left her right in the line of fire of Zoe, and as such, got covered in the brisket, with an even more shocked look on her face, though inwardly slightly less amused.

IC: Ryan

Ryan tensed as Aizen started the teleport, then sighed with relief as Ray called him off. Teleportation had never sat well with him and even the mere thought was enough to make him feel a little queasy. "That's right," Ryan said sheepishly. "I forgot you had a Kadabra. Well, at least Evan didn't completely strand us here. If we can't find Kyle, though, he might be out of luck."

IC: Zoe

"I'm sorry, Collie!" Zoe gasped through her uncontrolled giggles. She wasn't sure whether to be embarrassed that she had just spat her food all over her sister, or to laugh at the entertaining scene that had unfolded before her.

OOC:

"That faceless face which is so pale,
that halts our haste and makes us fail . . ."

IC - Jupiter - Eterna City: Seeing where the Grotle was headed, Jupiter frowned. Her encounter with Envy had only occurred a few days ago; was it really safe to go back so soon . . .? After a brief pause, she sighed, realizing that if who she thought was there was, in fact, there, it ought to be clear enough . . .

Standing up, the Galactic admin took a moment to wipe the dirt from her face before following after the Grass-Type Pokémon.

IC - Sonja Baron - Opelucid City: Sonja nodded in acknowledgement of Drayden's answer, glad to know that they wouldn't have anything else to deal with for the time being. As things stood, their relationship with Team Plasma still stood on shaky ground, considering everything that had happened with Zach and Kyurem, and so she would rather have avoided talking to them if possible.

"I'm just glad we could help," the Liberty Agent said. Turning back to the discussion between herself, Ray, and Ryan, she was just about to answer when Aizen began to teleport, blinking in surprise once the sensation wore off. After a brief moment, she shook her head, and then continued as if nothing had happened. "Funny coincidence--mine's August ninth. Guess we'll all have to get each other presents pretty soon here, heh." At the mention of Kyle, Sonja frowned, scratching her head. "He shouldn't be that difficult to find--considering what all happened, he probably went off by himself to think again, since that's what he does in these kinds of situations. And actually, he did a lot of fighting against that Darkrai, so I imagine he's at the Pokémon Center right now, getting his team hea--"

She suddenly fell dead silent as a wave of ice washed over her body, her own heart skipping a beat. Before anyone could ask what was wrong, she jumped back, eyes and mouth open wide in horror. With lightning-fast speed, Sonja pulled a Poké Ball from her belt, releasing Atem onto the street. Climbing onto the Rhyhorn's back, she gripped tightly to his spines, urging him forward with a rapid cry of, "Atem I am the worst trainer ever and we need to get to the Pokémon Center now!"

Sensing Sonja's distress, Atem ran as quickly as he could, and soon, the two disappeared down the street and around a corner, headed in the direction of the Pokémon Center. The only explanation available? A quick call from Sonja over her shoulder:

"Sorry, guys, but Loki can't wait any longer!"

IC: Ellen
Upon hearing Sina's question, Chrono shrugged, then looked away with a scowl. Why did he stay with Ellen? He wasn't sure he even knew the answer himself. Well, looking back on how Ellen had jumped into a river and gone over a waterfall to save him, and how she had placed her trust in him during the battle on Mt. Pyre, Chrono probably had somewhat of an idea as to why he didn't just run away from his trainer. But he would never admit that to the Sneasel, or anyone else for that matter.

Ellen was silent for a few moments, taking in what Amelia had said. "You're right," she nodded. "I do see the gray. But despite that, I still try and live in the white. I want to see this war come to an end, but I want it to happen peacefully. If you live too much in the gray, you start justifying the black, and then you're no better than Team Rocket and Team Liberty." Ellen lowered her eyes to the ground, recalling the battle on Mt. Pyre. "It's a fine line between white, gray, and black," she muttered. "I'm not sure I can always tell the difference."

I don't see the world in black and white either, Duo said. I see it in glorious Technicolor. Monochrome is just so bland...

IC: Ryan
Ryan blinked as Sonja rode off on her Rhyhorn, her brown hair billowing gracefully behind her. He felt a nudge on his shoulder from Togie and slowly nodded. "I'm going after her," he told Ray as he hopped on Togie's back. The Togekiss took off, flying low above the streets, trying to catch up to Sonja and Atem.

-==IC: Ray==-

Ray just looked at Ryan as if he were crazy, and dashed off on his own, scowling at Ryan as the other trainer didn't even look back.

You just don't get it, do you? Ray wondered, half tempted to just teleport after them, but wasn't about to do that. Instead, he inwardly berated himself for not recalling that situation sooner. He'd seen what happened, so why did he just forget to say anything about heading to the Pokemon Center? Especially when his Pokemon weren't as badly damaged, due to mostly taking on Gaigan...

IC: Evan Tierra, Route 4

Evan looked at the battle, observing any way he could exploit Gerald's weaknesses. Then noticed something odd. Gerald's pokemon seemed to have purple eyes. Shaking his head, Evan focused on the battle.

"Vlad, Swords Dance and then Acrobatics on the Cryogonal!", Evan shouted, "Behemoth, Superpower on the Rotom! Gnip, keep it up!"

Vlad clacked his claws again, dancingin the air the whole while. His expression turned serious as he leapt towards Gerald's Cryogonal and slapped his left claw against it. Meanwhile Behemoth continued to charge towards Gerald's Rotom, aiming to cause some form of damage to this nuisance. Gnip bared her fangs and roared at the Hydreigon in front of her. The roar, though fearsome, did not phase the Brutal Pokemon, who seemed to be overpowering Gnip.....

-==IC: Gerald==-

Gerald scowled, as he realized he had made a grave miscalculation the turn before. The Rotom hadn't nullified the attack; it had taken the full amount of damage, and because of this attack, was battered backwards and now fainted, as Gerald frowned, and recalled the fainted Rotom.

"No matter." Gerald said, as the Cryogonal held up against the acrobatics, but was also starting to tire. Gerald, shrugged it off, as he sent out his Flygon quickly, aiming a quick Super Power on Behemoth.

Meanwhile, Hydreigon continued to push back against Gnip, as the dark dragon attempted to overpower the Garchomp quickly, and hopefully win the fight for his master, so he could go back to dealing with the rest of the annoyances.

Up in the sky, Tornadus and Thundurus kept launching off attacks toward Landorus; Tornadus utilizing Extrasensory against Landorus, as Thundurus unleashed a Dark Pulse on the same target, trying to just plain overpower the one who was supposed to calm them down...

IC: (Claus)

Claus, thankfully unlike Zoe, had managed to keep his mouth covered and suppress his laughter enough that food did not fly out of his mouth.

After swallowing, the Liberty agent said "HAHA, Flint pbphh get down from her!..HAHAHA!" Claus managed to say before trying to suppress the laughter once more.

Flint, looking a little apologetic (not that Colette could see) hopped off her head and grabbed some nearby napkins before offering them to Colette.

"I'm not sure I can always tell the difference."I don't see the world in black and white either, Duo said. I see it in glorious Technicolor. Monochrome is just so bland...

-==IC:Amelia==-

Amelia looked at Ellen with a mixture of bemusement and pity. "Listen, kid. No--Ellen. The difference between trying to 'live in the white' and living in the gray? There is none--or rather, it's just how well you sleep at night. Because sooner or later, something's going to happen, and to tell you the truth, I'd rather not be around when it happens." Amelia knelt down and gave Ellen a serious look--one far more vulnerable than she'd shown to anyone in a long, long time. "One day, someone you know, someone you trust to help you find your path and live in the 'light' is going to reveal their true colors. And that's when you'll realize that everything you stood for, everything you thought was 'good' and 'right' in the world is a complete and utter lie. When that happens, you'll realize something: the gray isn't a middle ground between 'good' and 'evil'. It's the middle ground between two evils. And the only way to keep yourself safe from both is to seek the Balance between the two."

Amelia stood back up, still looking at the girl, concern in her eyes--whether for Ellen or for herself it was impossible to tell. "I hope you can find that out the easy way rather than the hard way. But no matter how you find out, I hope it doesn't happen for a long, long time."

Amelia looked out over the water. It was peaceful, calm--but she knew that beneath the serene waves any number of wild Pokémon would be at battle below. Once upon a time, such a thought would have filled her with wonder. Now, though, after nearly a decade of hard experience, she knew better than to expect anything different. All that was left was the why...

Sina was about to query Chrono further, when her keen ears picked up a change in her mistress' tone. She whined and glanced at Amelia, before cocking her head at Chrono. She whimpered a brief apology, then looked Chrono straight in the eye, jerking her head gently towards her Trainer as she whined a soft but firm opinion to the Purrloin. Sina turned to go, but only took a few steps toward Ameila before stopping. Glancing over her shoulder, she murmured a quiet statement to Chrono, and then walked over to stand next to her Trainer, offering a small whine to the silent spy. Amelia said nothing, didn't even look down to acknowledge her Pokémon's presence, just rested a hand softly on the Sneasel's pink head.

IC: Ellen
Ellen looked up at Amelia in confusion. "No" she shook her head. "I believe that there is good and right in the world, you just have to know where to look. One person showing their true colors isn't going to change that. You said that people see what they want to see -- maybe you can't see any good in the world because you don't want to see it."

Even as Ellen spoke, she thought back to the Project Harmony suits Team Liberty had used in the fight against the Darkrai -- suits that harnessed power from Legendary Pokémon for human use. Was that all this 'gray' area was? Justifying questionable actions to achieve a greater good? And if so, what did that say about Ford? What did that say about anyone?

Chrono scowled as the Sneasel walked loyally to her trainer's side. He couldn't be bothered to take care of Ellen like Sina took care of Amelia. Besides, Ellen had plenty of other Pokémon that could just as easily protect her and guide her. What did he care?

The Purrloin's tail flicked in annoyance as he thought back to all the times Ellen had taken care of him. He didn't need to be taken care of -- he was strong enough on his own. And yet... where would he be if it weren't for Ellen? Battered and bruised in the middle of a lonely route in Unova. The Purrloin scowled. Maybe it would have been better if Ellen had left him there. At least then he wouldn't have to deal with Sina's difficult questions.

IC - Kyle Eston/Sonja Baron - Opelucid City: People slowly filed in and out of the Pokémon Center, all of them appearing to still be dazed from the sudden erasure of Kane and Gaigan's influence. From one of the couches in the lobby, Kyle watched them as, rather sluggishly, they discussed what had happened in hushed tones, nobody entirely certain of when everything had started or when it had all come to an end. For his part, the Liberty Agent remained silent, doing his best not to draw attention to himself--frankly, he did not feel like dealing with the multitude of questions that would likely be aimed his way if he revealed that he had partaken in their mental liberation.

Ugh. He grimaced as the thought crossed his mind. Don't word it like that . . . That makes it sound like you're some kind of savior or something . . . Kyle sighed, rubbing his face with the palms of both hands. That was hardly even a skirmish, all things considered. He frowned, stare fixed on a spot of carpet. I still don't get it . . . What were they trying to accomplish . . .?

"Excuse me, Mr. Eston?" The soft voice stirred him from his thoughts. Kyle looked up to see one of the nurses standing nearby, a tray full of Poké Balls in her hands. "Here you go--your Pokémon are all fully healed."

With a grateful smile, Kyle took the tray. "Thanks," he said, setting it down in the seat next to him.

"No, please--thank you," the nurse replied, glancing out the window. "If you and your friends hadn't shown up when you did, I don't know what would have happened to everyone here--I don't think our Audino could have protected us for long, honestly. And that's not even getting into the people who were caught . . ." She visibly shuddered, prompting Kyle's smile to falter. Without a word, she resumed her cheery expression and, with a wave, returned to work.

Kyle looked away, taking a moment to process the nurse's thought before standing up. After clipping each of the six Poké Balls back onto his belt, he shouldered his bag, beginning to walk toward the exit to begin his search for the rest of the group.

Almost as soon as he opened the door, a familiar head of brunette hair flew past him, followed by a red beam fired from under her arm and at the head of a panting Rhyhorn. Dumbstruck, Kyle turned around, following the girl's path first with his eyes, and then with his feet. "Sonja . . .? What's going on?"

She didn't seem to hear him, instead speaking frantically to the nurse at the front desk. As he neared, Kyle heard mention of Loki; from the tone of Sonja's voice, he could only assume that the Fighting-Type had been injured in the battle against Kane. Why, then, he wondered, hadn't Sonja come to the Pokémon Center before him? He shook the thought off, reserving his judgment for himself, and instead moved to stand next to his fellow Liberty Agent.

"Are you sure he'll be fine?" she was saying, speaking much more calmly now, though still visibly panicked.

"Yes, ma'am, please," the nurse said, carefully handing the Poké Ball to one of the attending Audino. She handed Sonja a clipboard. "I can't guarantee that he'll be in perfect health today, but if you write down your name and trainer I.D. here we'll be sure to send him into your storage system once he's fully recovered. Okay?"

"Alright, yeah, that's--that's fine," Sonja said, placing a hand over her chest. She stared after the nurse for several moments, also spending that time slowing her heart rate down, and then wrote her name and I.D. down, setting the clipboard back on the desk.

"Did something happen?" Kyle asked, carefully drawing the Liberty Agent's attention to himself.

She shook her head. "Nothing short of a bad match-up," she said, explaining what had happened between Loki, Gaia, and Kane's Blaziken. In the process, he escorted her back toward the couches, letting her take a seat while she spoke. ". . . And now I feel bad for forgetting to bring him here the first chance I had. What kind of trainer lets that happen?"

"The kind that has a lot on their mind," Kyle answered. "You were getting pretty worked up by Kane, right? Which makes sense--it's only been six or seven months since . . ." He couldn't bring himself to mention Castelia or Kyurem.

Sonja managed to catch his meaning. "I guess so," she said, clearly bitter about the entire thing. "Still, I could've avoided this whole mess if I had just trained my team better . . . Maybe Loki would've been strong enough if he was a Conkeldurr, or I could've used Neptune or Atem."

Kyle crossed his arms, glancing down at his own contained Pokémon. "At least you didn't deliberately bring your weakest Pokémon." He leaned his head back, looking away. Training and a vacation--that was what he needed . . .

They said nothing else for several moments. Finally, Sonja spoke up. "So, any reason you took off after Kane and the Darkrai disappeared?"

A pause. Kyle fell utterly silent as he debated how best to word his response--and whether he should answer honestly. Whether they had meant to or not, they hadn't placed themselves in a good position to intervene against the Darkrai should they have proven to be a threat. Yet, try as he might, there really was no good way to word that concern in a way that did not come off as confrontational.

At length, he shook his head slightly, continuing to look away from Sonja. "I . . . needed time to myself. To think."

Despite his answer, Sonja felt like there was something else on his mind. Before she could press the issue further, she was distracted by Ryan's arrival through the front door, followed seconds later by Ray. Glancing at Kyle, who seemed not to have noticed them, she waved the two over to their position.

IC - Gavin Braner/Skyler - Celadon Department Store: "A Houndoom, huh?" Gavin said, tilting his head. "That might legitimately give me some trouble. Can't say the same thing about your Ursaring, though."

Teddy Jones growled at Gavin, clearly angered by the Rocket Agent's implication, oblivious to the snickering from Scooby-Doom next to him. Skyler placed a hand on the Normal-Type's shoulder to calm him down. "Hey, man, don't listen to him," the Zephyr member said. "He's, like, got no idea what you're made of. Besides, bears eat acorns, and there's one right in front of us!" Reassured, Teddy Jones grinned, setting his sights on the Seedot before it. The Grass-Type was, understandably, unnerved by the look he was getting.

"Don't let him freak you out, Cain," Gavin called. "Just Bide your time and attack when you need to." Looking to Evris, "Evris, let's start out with an Ancientpower."

The Baltoy's eyes immediately began to glow. With a rush of wind around it, the Psychic-Type launched a wave of energy at its opponents, which the Houndoom dodged around. Teddy Jones took the brunt of the attack, though appeared fairly unfazed by it. Cain simply remained in place.

"We're starting already?" Skyler asked, unable to hide his surprise. "Um, I mean, like, let's do this! Scoob, hit 'em with Heat Wave! Teddy Jones, use, like, Thrash attack!"

"Why would you open with that . . .?" Gavin muttered. "Evris, use Confusion on the Ursaring! Try to intercept the Heat Wave while you're at it! Cain, try to hold on after the attack hits!"

Such was a rather challenging set of commands, though one that Evris nonetheless attempted to carry out. As Cain steeled himself for Teddy Jones's attack, Evris's eyes glowed, the Psychic-Type sending out a wave of energy that enveloped the enemy Ursaring and laid siege to his mind. This distracted and confused the Hibernator Pokémon enough to make him misjudge where he was aiming, slamming his claws into the ground next to Cain. Though the Acorn Pokémon still received damage, it was noticeably less than what he would have taken from a head-on attack.

With that taken care of, Evris turned to try and redirect Scooby-Doom's attack, only to find the Dark Pokémon bearing down on it with a plume of fiery breath. With the timely creation of a psychic field around itself, the Baltoy was able to reduce the damage taken from the attack, though not by much. Its body temperature quickly rose from the sheer heat of the attack, leaving smoke to billow from its joints and curves once the air fully passed over it.

"Evris! Are you alright?" Gavin called. The Baltoy slowly but surely lifted itself up, having survived the attack. The Rocket Agent smiled. "Good. Let's get this over with, then--"

"Flamethrower, Scoob!" Skyler suddenly yelled. "Quick, while it's down! Teddy Jones, keep up that Thrash!"

They moved quickly, too quickly for Gavin to counter. Cain's eyes grew wide as Scooby-Doom's attack struck, almost instantly knocking out the Grass-Type. The Ursaring, too, quickly closed in on Evris, slamming into it and throwing it into the ground. Silently, Gavin commended the Zephyr agent for taking advantage of his distraction, even if it did leave him reeling for a way to respond in turn.

As it happened, he didn't need to.

Teddy Jones roared, raising his arms to slam against Evris once again, though stopped when a bright light began to emit from the Clay Doll Pokémon's body. Before the Ursaring's startled eyes, Evris's body began to shift, growing larger and larger, rounder and rounder, taking on an entirely new shape. Two eyes became many--eight or ten; Gavin could not quite tell from where he was standing. Its arms became separate objects from its body, though more or less continued to move as if they were still attached. Soon enough, the glow faded, leaving Evris to lift itself up and face its opposition, its wounds regenerated.

"Aw, man," Skyler groaned. "No way!"

"Oho, yes," Gavin said, a wide grin stretching across his face. He pointed. "I don't know what new moves you've learned, Evris, but do whatever you need to to win this!"

The newly-evolved Claydol hardly seemed to need those "orders"--it acted as if it really, really wanted to do what it did. With mechanical precision, it unleashed its attacks against Gavin's opponents, aiming first for the Houndoom, then the Ursaring. Scooby-Doom found himself on the receiving end of an Earth Power attack that ruptured the floor underneath it, sending small bits of debris flying in every direction. The attack threw the Dark Pokémon across the room, slamming him against a wall, where he proceeded to slide down toward the floor, knocked cleanly unconscious with his tongue drooping out.

Wasting not a single moment--and without even turning around--Evris reached out with its mind, using its newly-advanced Psychic attack on Teddy Jones. The bear roared in discontent as it was lifted from the ground, slammed against the ceiling--dislodging several light fixtures in the process--spun around, and then thrown, landing at Skyler's feet--also unconscious. The Zephyr member stared down at the Hibernator Pokémon, dumbstruck and utterly unable to process what he had just seen--a condition that Gavin, too, displayed.

It took Skyler several moments after recalling his Pokémon to speak up, in as calmly and rationally of a manner as he could: "Dude, like," he said, voice cracking in cartoonish terror. He pointed at the Claydol. "That thing's a total monster, man!" Though scrambling in place for several seconds, he quickly took off running, disappearing down the hall with a fading shout of, "That's not cool, maaaan!"

Gavin stared after him, baffled. "Wow . . ." He shook his head, sighing. The Rocket Agent looked at Evris. "Congrats on the evolution, but . . . Take it a little easier next time, won't you?" The Psychic-Ground-Type did not respond, instead simply hovering dutifully by its trainer. With a frown, Gavin recalled it, as well as Dothe, and proceeded out of the area. Though he knew he should have given chase to Skyler, and ensured the Zephyr member found himself in the custody of the proper authorities, Gavin had a feeling that the boy would pop up again soon. In what context, he did not know, except that he would be sure to subdue him whenever that occurred.

For the moment, he moved on, in search of another Zephyr agent.

OOC:

2 from initial double battle recruitment + 4 from Leviathan + 2 from this battle = 8 EXP means an evolution for Evris, oh boy~

344.png

Species: Claydol.

Nickname: Evris.

Trainer: Gavin Braner.

Appearance: Evris looks like virtually any other Claydol.

Personality: Evris is possibly Gavin's most alien Pokémon. Extremely mild-mannered, Evris displays virtually zero personality, never socializing with others, never speaking to other Pokémon, never interacting much with the environment. It seems as if it is simply there, with its only defining feature being its swiftness if listening to commands from Gavin. Not even its evolution appeared to change much in terms of Evris's temperament.

Ability: Levitate.

Specialty: Evris is, like other Claydol, particularly skilled with Special Attack and Defense. Using its psychic abilities, it is also capable of becoming extremely fast and difficult to hit, though this requires careful planning and time. With his evolution, Evris has grown more power with its Special Attacks and much sturdier in terms of defenses, if a bit slower overall.

Known Moves: Earth Power, Rapid Spin, Ancient Power, Psychic, Teleport, Power Trick.

Psybeam > Psychic

Confusion > Teleport

Harden > Earth Power

Ray panted heavily, visibly out of breath, as he looked up questioningly at Sonja, unable to actually ask the question he wanted to, but was hopefully concerned enough on his face that it was obvious what he meant. However, looking away for the moment, Ray scowled at the not nearly as out of breath Ryan, still not amused at being left behind.

Ryan hopped off Togie, recalling the Jubilee Pokémon to its Pokéball. Glancing around the center, he quickly spotted Sonja and Kyle and walked over to them. "Looks like you had the right idea in coming here first," he told Kyle. He glanced at Sonja with concern. "How's Loki doing?"

IC: Olivia Seaton

As Zach stuck out his hand, Olivia's smirk suddenly dropped. Slowly, the trainer reached her hand out to shake it with some hesitation, staring into Zach's greenish eyes. After a few seconds, she tore her eyes away. "D-don't think this changes anything..." she said slightly shakily, breaking off the handshake and turning away. ".....I'm gonna go heal my team," she said after a few moments of silence, starting to walk off. However, she paused after taking a few steps, raising her arm slightly, to tell Zach that he should probably follow her.

Zach blinked at Olivia's change in emotions, and tilted his head, confused, as the wind blew across the field for a moment.

What just happened there? Zach thought, taking a few moments himself to actually remember to move, as he followed the female trainer, unsure of what her deal was at all.

OOC: Sorry to hear that, Flipz. :( Hope everything settles down soon!

IC - Kyle Eston/Sonja Baron - Opelucid City: "The nurse says he'll be fine after a day or two--they'll transfer him back to Four Island once he's fully recovered," Sonja reported. "Sorry I ran off like that--I completely forgot that he needed to be healed. I can't imagine what condition he might've been in if I hadn't thought about it sooner."

Meanwhile, Kyle stared quizzically at Ryan and Ray, both of whom seemed . . . oddly focused on Sonja--or, in Ray's case, focused on Sonja and then focused less approvingly on Ryan. Suppressing the urge to roll his eyes, he instead merely smiled and nodded at Ryan's statement.

"Well, now that we're all here," Sonja said after a moment. "Shall we get going?"

IC - Ethan Worth/Skylark - Celadon Department Store: "So, Jynx and Chatot, eh?" Ethan said, crossing his arms. "Guess you've got the advantage here, G. Hope you don't mind if I go first, then?" Skylark gestured as if to say, 'Go right ahead.' Ethan smiled. "Alright, then." He pointed, eye glinting in the light of the numerous security camera screens next to him. "Paruk, use Smack Down on Chatot, Captain Unova-style! Kada, Bite that Jynx!"

"Yikes, man, that could be bad," Skylark said, scratching his head. "Chatot, Jynx, let's take the hit and then climb the song board with our own lullaby--of love!"

Ethan cocked his head to the side, surprised. "Wait, Sing?" he repeated. "You're not gonna . . . dodge? Maybe use Psychic to redirect Paruk's attack into Kada?"

"Nah, man, that's not our style," Skylark said, shaking his head. "We're pacifists, brother--passive battling is our thing."

"Huh."

Ethan watched as Paruk--whom he realized he had only really seen in battle maybe once, if even that--scuttled forward and spun around, launching his shell straight at the Chatot perched on Skylark's chair. The rock struck him dead on, momentarily stunning the bird and knocking him to the floor, where he presumably proceeded to watch as a dozen or so tiny birdies flew around his head. The attack had the added bonus of bouncing off and striking Jynx, knocking her forward in Kada's bite, and then bouncing back toward Paruk, who nonchalantly caught the shell (with one claw) and scurried back into it, crossing his claws in an unimpressed manner.

"Well, I can't say I would ever use that fighting style, but, hey, to each their own, right?" The Rocket Agent flashed a grin, giving Skylark a cheery thumbs-up. "Good on you for sticking by what you believe in!"

"Hey, thanks, man!" Skylark said. "Not a lotta peeps get it, you know?"

"That I do, man," Ethan said. He instinctively cringed as Jynx and Chatot began singing . . . and then straightened up, surprised to find that they weren't as bad of singers as most Pokémon were when they used that attack. Kada and Paruk appeared to think the same, as they began to sway where they stood, clearly on the cusp of sleep. "Not bad. Not bad at all. That's definitely a lot nicer on the ears than most cases." Ethan adjusted the sunglasses perched on his head. "This does, however, mean that I'm going to have to beat you this turn. Two turns, tops."

"Good luck, bro!"

"Thanks!" Ethan struck a more dramatic pointing pose. "Now, Paruk, Kada, before you fall asleep, let's finish them off! Use Body Slam--" He crossed his arms over each other. "--aaaand another Smack Down, because that's really all you've got going for you right nooow!"

Bleary-eyed from the onset of sleep, Kada charged forward. With a low, rumbling roar, the Grotle leaped into the air, aiming for Chatot. He spread his four legs out in an attempt to create as large of a crushing area as possible . . . and promptly fell asleep mid-flight, flipping over so that his shelled back was facing the Normal-Flying-Type. To its credit, it remained dead-set in its anti-war ways, staunching standing still and taking the hit. In the end, Kada lay, sleeping, on top of an unconscious parrot.

Paruk fared only very slightly better. In an attempt to imitate himself from earlier, he again launched his shell, this time at Jynx, and she, too, was struck by the attack, taking double damage due to Rock beating Ice. However, being tired slowed Paruk's reflexes down, and so he was unable to catch his rocky shell on the rebound. It struck him straight in the face, the attack dealing double damage to himself as well, and wound up knocking him out just as it had done Humanshape Pokémon.

For some time, both Skylark and Ethan looked between the four Pokémon, uncertain of what had actually happened. Finally, Ethan spoke. "Uh . . . Let's call that a draw, yeah?"

"Yeeeah, let's do that," Skylark agreed. They both returned their Pokémon. "So . . . I got a few more left. Do we continue this, or . . .?"

"Pfft, nah, you know what? I'll letcha go," Ethan said, waving his hand dismissively. "On the off-chance that you don't leave and turn yourself in to the police outside, as I'm half-expecting, I'm sure I'll run into you again. Probably in some weird context of 'Hey, our group regrouped so now we're going to battle you guys again in greater, more coordinated numbers.'"

Skylark grinned. "Heh, alright," he said, stepping out into the hall. "Though, come on, man--what are the chances of that happening?"

"Haha . . . ha . . ." Ethan's laughter slowly died. "Wait." He looked at Skylark, finding that the Zephyr member had vanished. The Rocket Agent frowned. "Now, did he mean, 'What are the chances of that elaborate meet-up battle happening'? Or did he mean, 'What are the chances I'm going to give myself up to the police'? Hm." Ethan rubbed his chin. Then, he shrugged. "Well, whatever. I guess I'll find out. Now, where are the rest of you . . ."

Turning to the security monitors, Ethan began perusing, searching the halls for the other members of Team Zephyr. Two of them appeared to be in the company of Jamie and Lucia. Another had just begun to flee from Gavin back at the stairwell to the roof. The others, he could not find--except for one. She was in the electronics section, followed by a Rotom.

"Alright, Miss Windy," Ethan said, stepping back from the monitors. "The law just called, and it looks like your flight . . ." He placed his sunglasses over his eyes. ". . . just got canceled."

There was definitely something off about the situation; as Ray still had no clue why Ryan didn't even offer a ride, and Ray continued to wonder just what was going on... And then glanced over at Kyle for a second, and saw the eye roll, and it slowly started to dawn on him just what he was missing. As Sonja mentioned about leaving, Ray slowly raised his hand.

"Sure, on the condition that we first make sure that Ryan knows the etiquette behind, you know, not leaving a friend behind to run a mile or two across an unfamiliar city, which he couldn't teleport to the Pokemon Center of." Ray said, as he looked right at Ryan again; as unlike the others probably had done the journey before, he had not stepped into the Pokemon Center at all; and in fact, was too preoccupied getting to Iccirus City that he hadn't even seen it. It made sense for Sonja; she had been panicked; Ryan had simply snubbed the orange haired trainer for seemingly no reason.

Parugi: As I said in the chat, 023 looks like a Gardevoir with angel wings. Also, Captain Unova? Awesome.

Flipz: Well, I guess that puts our plans in a bit of a jam

...

:P
Seriously though, I'm sorry to hear that. Hope you can manage to get things worked out. At any rate, we were almost done with our little jam, so it shouldn't take too long for me to wrap things up.

IC: Ryan
Ryan was about to express his relief that Loki was getting the healing he needed when Ray spoke up, shooting him an accusatory scowl. Ryan looked up at Ray, dumbfounded. "Oh, you couldn't teleport to the Pokémon Center? But I thought... your Kadabra..." Realization dawned on his face as Ryan figured that Ray had never been to the Opelucid Pokémon Center before. "Oh man, I'm sorry. I thought for sure you were just going to teleport here. Aizen was all set to teleport us, after all. Teleportation doesn't sit well with me, so I figured I'd just fly there instead." He gave an apologetic smile to Ray, cringing slightly at the latter's scowl. "At any rate... I'm ready to go if you are," Ryan told the group. He glanced at Sonja and Kyle, hoping they weren't as mad at him as Ray was.

-==IC:Amelia==-
Amelia laughed, the noise coming out more as a yelp of bitter amusement. "You keep telling yourself that, child. Keep believing in a good world as long as you can, because once that faith's gone you'll never get it back." Amelia shook her head and wiped her eyes. "Anyway. When that happens, when the only thought that withstands the agony is the burning question of 'why?'...come find me. Maybe the two of us can actually figure out an answer." The pale wisp of a woman turned and marched off to the north, towards the Department Store and the other assorted buildings nearby it. Sina made to follow, but stopped and gave Chrono one last hard look before she, too began to go north after her Trainer.

IC: Ellen
"But wait," Ellen said. "How will I know where to find you?" Even as she spoke, Amelia vanished in the dense crowd. Ellen stared after her, feeling more troubled than she'd been when the Absol had first appeared. For a long time she stood silent, lost in thought.

Chrono scoffed as Sina disappeared, glad to be rid of the Sneasel. Artemis stared at the spot where Amelia had disappeared with a worried frown, while Duo shook his head in confusion. Terry looked up at Ellen with concern, and Maturin rubbed against her leg. The Turtwig managed to break Ellen out of her trance.

A bell tolled in the distance. "Oh right!" she cried. "The ferry!"

Rounding a corner, the companions arrived at the harbor, where dozens of boats of all shapes and sizes lined the docks. A group of people gathered into a small sailboat for a day out at sea, while hundreds of passengers boarded a luxury liner headed for Kanto. There were even boats that sailed to far off regions like Unova and Kalos.

"This is almost as hectic as getting through the city itself," Ellen said, peering at the huge signs that posted ticket prices and departure times. "Let's see... we want to take the ferry to Sootopolis..." Of course, as the berry lady had told her the day before, the boat was actually a "submarine-ferry." Due to the geography of Sootopolis, the boat would have to travel underwater to reach the city. When Ellen found the location of the boat, she quickly bought herself a ticket and headed to the assigned dock.

"For the safety of our passengers, we must ask that you keep all of your Pokémon in their Pokéballs for the duration of our journey," the sailor at the dock said sternly. "Our submarine takes us deep underwater, and we can't afford to have a Pokémon running rampant."

"Sorry guys," Ellen said sadly as she dug her Pokéballs out of her bag and recalled her companions. She had never liked the idea of storing Pokémon inside the tiny capsules for extended periods of time, but at the same time she understood the sailor's concern.

Running rampant? Duo cried out. What, does he think we're a bunch of uncontrollable animals or something? I mean, sure, maybe Chrono, but-- The telepathic rant was cut off as the Duosion disappeared into the Pokéball.

Ellen stepped into the submarine-ferry and was instantly impressed. An isle ran down the middle of the boat, with seats for passengers on either side. At the end of each row of seats was a circular window that would allow for a beautiful view of the underwater world once they took off. "Wow, this is amazing," Ellen said in awe. "It'll be like riding a bus or airplane, but underwater, like the Marine Tube in Undella Town. Did you ever see anything like this in your travels with Evan, Maturin?" She turned around, but the Turtwig was not there.

Suddenly, Ellen felt more alone than she had in a long time. Although her recent travels hadn't been with a large group like in Unova, she had always had her Pokémon to keep her company. But now, with her friends contained in their Pokéballs, she had no one to share this experience with. It was an unusually lonely feeling.

"Keep it moving, little girl," a gruff businessman said from behind her. "You're holding up the line."

"Oh," Ellen said in surprise. "Sorry about that." Hanging her head in embarrassment, Ellen quickly grabbed a seat next to a window and sat down.

OOC: The first part of this post is best read while listening to the JP version of the Boss theme from Sonic CD.

IC: Landorus, Route 4

Landorus took the attacks directly, but seemed to not take much damage from them. Seeming to almost look bored, Landorus looked at his fellow Legendary Pokemon.

"Is that really all you've got?", Landorus taunted, "Seems you need to remember who is the boss here!"

Landorus' eyes gleamed with golden light, as tendrils of grass started to grapple Thundurus and Tornadus. When they were immobilized, Landorus unleashed Brick Break after Brick Break upon them, slapping them both across the face as he did so....

IC: Evan Tierra, Route 4

Behemoth was knocked down by the Flygon's Superpower, eyes closing shut as he fell. Evan returned him to his poke ball. Evan was going to send out Bertha's Hippowdon. But suddenly, Monstro's poke ball started to shake. the poke ball opened, with Monstro leaping towards Gerald's Hydreigon, smashing his arm against the Brutal Pokemon with all his might. Despite being injured, Monstro looked raring to go, with a blue aura softly glowing around him. Gnip looked on in some surprise, as she had never seen Monstro this serious before.....

OOC: Did he just... xD

-==IC: Tornadus/Thundurus==-

The two pranksters seemed shocked for a moment as they fell through the air from the blow and righted themselves, and then looked at each other, and then back to Landorus, and nodded. Taking in the anger from the blows they had just gotten, they both flew at Landorus quickly, and attempted to both take Revenge on the 'leader' quickly.

-==IC: Gerald==-

Gerald had smirked, up until he saw Monstro knock away the Hydreigon. Roaring out in annoyance, the Hydreigon glared at the new challenger, and launched off a Super Power at it himself. The rest of Gerald's Pokemon also gathered around with a snarl, the Cryogonal about to charge up a Solar Beam for use on Monstro, and then the Flygon spun around... And then slammed into the ground, setting off an Earthquake in the nearby vicinity.

OOC: Parugi has approved the following.

IC: Evan Tierra, Route 4

Monstro looked on as the shockwave of earth and sand headed towards him and his friends. He also saw the Solarbeam charging and the Hydreigon ready to bash him. Monstro had no idea on what to do.

Then it hit him! His friends had to win this fight. But even though he was still hurting from the last fight he was in, he had to do something! Roaring, the Swampert smashed his two arms down, summoning up a wall of rock that absorbed the shock of the Earthquake. Monstro was then struck by Gerald's Hydreigon's Superpower. Monstro felt pain upon pain, but mostly felt satisfaction, at being able to help his friends take this man down.

"You did well, Monstro.", Evan said, "I'll make sure you get all healed up after this. Til then, rest."

IC: Landorus, Route Four

"What did I just say?", Landorus said boastfully as he took the attack head on, "While you two outnumber me, I know something you don't."

Thundurus and Tornadus raised their eyebrows at this. They did not like the sound of this.

"From your powers, my power blossoms forth.", Landorus said, chuckling, "The powers of Lightning and Wind bring forth destruction, but it is from destruction, that creation can ensue!"

Landorus started to glow with a brilliant amber light as he flew towards Thundurus and Tornadus. As he approached, he was winding up a mighty punch, aiming to hit Tornadus in the gut.....

The punch connected, as Tornadus was sent flying back, spiraling through the air toward the ground, as the wind based Prankster had a hard time righting its fall. Weakly hovering in the air, Thundurus noticed its companion's plight, and fell back, and hovered near the other, as Tornadus and Thundurus uneasily looked at Landorus; now unsure of what to do.

-==IC: Gerald==-

Gerald's mouth curled into a smile, as he laughed.

"Oh, how the mighty are falling." Gerald taunted, as the Cryogonal unleashed the Solar Beam on the closest target remaining... Gnip. Meanwhile, the Hydreigon and Flygon also rushed forward; Hydreigon preparing a Draco Meteor, and Flygon a Dragon Claw...

IC: (James)

For what seemed like a while, but was probably only a few moments, James stood there weighing Greed’s words in his mind. He tried only briefly to try and shoot down any of her claims. But he knew that each one rang true. He next tried justifications reasons for his actions, but the reasons why he had made done so many of these actions which appealed to Greed were lost in his mind. And while common sense told him it was a trap, James very very very briefly considered her proposal.

Gawain for his part was not doing well either against his opponent either. For some reason the Eelektross seemed emboldened his attacks growing more powerful by the swing. The Swampert tried to retaliate with a Mud bomb but the attack was just shrugged off by his opponent who just continued the Crush Claw onslaught to which Gawain could do little more than guard himself.

Everything Greed had told him was true, was it not? He did try to play both sides of the conflict. He tried to ensure his victory through betrayal and sabotage, all the while playing the role of the loyal soldier. If he were honest he would say that he believed in Team Rocket’s ideals more than Team Liberty’s and yet now there he was standing in a position of power in an organization that would fight against such ideals. Why? Because it personally benefitted him to do so. Even now he had reaffirmed the belief in that he would betray his closest friend if it meant gaining even such a hollow victory that he had just won off of Ross. And Jamie… what could be a more perfect display of greed then creating life for the sole purpose of letting his own life be extended.

Did he ever think anything different of her? Of something more than just spare parts to be used in case his machine of a body breaks?

…A brief image popped into his lead like a spark. The spark caught bringing up more images. These images formed together with sounds to create a memory in his mind.

It had to have been four years ago now. James for his part had been pressed by the Rocket scientist (whose name he could not recall yet was certain he had known before) to act as something akin to an elder brother figure if not a father figure to his clone. He of course did not have time to be a full time parent but at times such as this he was to take care of the young girl… young in a way at least. Jamie had the physical traits of a 19 year old, and the mental capabilities of one in that she had the knowledge that the Rocket scientists decided a 19 year old would need. Her mental age however, or perhaps better stated her maturity, was still having to having to catch up. Simply stated, she acted like a six year old.

“Hey Jimmy?”

That nickname was something, the Executive had not heard in several years. Jamie had asked if there was nickname for James, he told her, and well she had called him that name for about 8 months straight before just sort of phasing it out. That day he had been working on something that he could no longer quite recall. Probably starting to write some new program weapon for his trade, the one he did not let on, though he was not quite sure exactly.

“Jiiiiimyyyy. JimmyJimmyJimmy. JIMMY!”

“Jamie, what is the matter?” he said, disguising his annoyance, finally giving up and shutting down his computer. Normally Pelleas and Tristan (and occasionally Guinevere, Lancelot no) would serve to keep the girl occupied. Those two really seemed to adore the girl, and seemed much more akin to being her father figures than he was. However today they were busy for medical reasons. Nothing serious, but James had brought them along for his last mission as he intended later after day turned to night.

“Why did you name me Jamie?”

James grew quiet for a moment when he heard Jamie ask him that question. The answer by itself wasn’t bad, just the reasons behind the answer.

“Why, do you not like being called Jamie?”

“Well… no. But I wanna know why.”

“…I see. Well… I suppose the reason I named you Jamie was because I could not think of a better name at the time.”

This was true, what he did not say was that he did not even try to think of a better name, and that if Jamie had been born a boy he would have been named James-2.

“Did you think of a better one now?”

James paused for a moment, before considering the only source he had ever considered when naming anything,

“Well… if I had the chance to name you again… I suppose I would give you the name Morgan…” yes that was a good name by James’ reasoning. Had similar implications yet, well… he actually put some thought into it. Plus the name, he thought about it more felt right, yes the name Morgan fit much better than Jamie. “Yes, Morgan, that would be your name.”

For the next three hours the rocket operative found himself pressed into playing games of knights and ladies with “Lady Morgan.” He was thankful for once of his penchant of wearing the traditional Rocket uniform instead of one of his suits. The amount of sweat he was producing of entertaining the technically young girl was (did she have the energy of a young child but the body of an adult, and thus the perfect person to tire out his, in comparison only, old bones) would have taken a lot of effort to get out of his suit (seriously there was not even that much space in the room they were in and yet he felt like he had run five miles in as many minutes). And yet he somehow endured playing in his double’s fantasies. He even found himself enjoying the time. So much time had passed in fact, that James found that if he did not leave soon he would be late to attending his actual duties. Thankfully it was also the prescribed bed time for his lady.

“Come, Lady Morgan,” he said to his young charge. “Let us be off for a land of dreams.”

“Carry me!” the young in heart girl said to her elder.

Smiling the Rocket agent picked up the girl in (really REALLY stressing his muscles. The man was not exactly built for what he was doing, but he kept the exertion off his face until she was asleep.)

James sighed with relief once he was able to finally put the girl done on the bed in the room. He would have said something along the lines of “You are getting big Jamie, soon I will not be able to carry you anymore,” but that would have implied she was small to begin with, well at least once she was first “born”.

"There you go, anything you want before you go to sleep?"

“Can you read me a story, from that book you are always looking at?”

James looked behind him to see that he had placed his copy of “The Once and Future King” a small ways a way. It was an older looking book, but still in excellent condition despite it having lived at least fifty years before he first held the book. He had read that book continuously over and over again, cover to cover. It was the first book he had ever actually cared to read. He could probably hear any quote from the book and tell you what page it was on, the exact context of the quote, and what that character had eaten for breakfast that morning. It would not be beyond him to say it was probably the most influential book in his life.

For a moment James considered putting off what he had to do, perhaps starting the story with her, introducing her to that same world that so mesmerized him. But alas, he had to do what he planned to that day, plus he had the mission he was actually assigned to do.

“I... I am sorry, milady. But I cannot do this for you tonight. I have a quest I must fulfill,” he said with an actual tinge of regret.

The girl expression turned sadder as she was tucked in.

“Cheer up milady, we will have plenty of time for you to get to know about King Arthur and his magnificent tale. One day I will read you the whole story, start to finish,” he promised.

This had the intended effect with suddenly her expression brightened greatly.

Phew… James thought to himself.

As James collected his belongings and moved to dim the lights in the room he was stopped by the sound of “Jimmy?”

“Yes, milady?”

“I love you, big brother..."

For a moment, time stayed still with his hand still on the light switch. He wondered himself if he could bring himself to respond. Would he even meant it if he did respond? He was silent for a moment, before wishing her a good night and the sweetest dreams, and then shut off the lights and stepped out of the room.

“Sir Lancelot,” James said while his little sister fell asleep, “I have an important mission that I believe that Sir Pelleas and Sir Tristan are better suited for, could you stay here and keep an eye on ‘Lady Morgan’ for me? At least until her proper caretakers arrive.”

The Scyther for his part seemed indifferent towards babysitting a huge version of a toddler (or doing what James told him for that matter) but it meant he’d get a day off just for standing near a sleeping girl for a little while, he couldn’t exactly say no. Once receiving an acquiescence, James left the room making a phone to call whoever the person in charge of the project had lined up as caretaker (he knew he knew what the name was… did it start with an F?), before he left with his two lesser used Pokémon.

James had… slightly exaggerated the importance of the mission, as well as the necessity for bringing the Heracross and Beldum along instead his Scyther and Ralts that he normally brought on missions. The former Rocket agent had even forgotten what the mission was even about. No, the reason he had told the exaggeration was so he could talk to the pair of Pokemon he had brought with him in private (that is where no one from Team Rocket could hear them).

“I have some confessions to make to the two of you,” James began when they had come to a resting place far off the beaten path (people near Mt. Moon, he wasn’t quite sure but that sounded about right).

Taking a breath he continued “I hold no loyalty in my heart towards Team Rocket.”

The statement perplexed both of the two physical fighters, but they were silent as they waited for James to continue.

“There is a chance that by the end of the war, I will be standing under Team Liberty’s banner. However, there is also a high chance that Jamie will need to stay here on Team Rocket. In that case, you two will stay here and act as her guardsmen, and you must obey her every order.”

The Heracross and the Beldum hardly needed to be told the last bits of information. The two knew from early on that they’d be following Jamie eventually.

“Even if she orders you to kill me, you will obey her every order.”

That, however, was a shocker. Out of anyone else’s lips, it might, might, have been relatively normal, but his? It took them awhile to process the information.

That was the last the two Pokémon and trainer spoke of it. And those were some of the last commands he would give them, for soon Jamie’s mental state was enough to begin Rocket training. Sure enough James’ prediction came true a few years later. The trainer wondered how those two we holding up. If they were following Jamie’s orders because of his orders, or if because she had truly earned their respect. Remembering the battle against Joker’s Golurk, he somewhat proudly suspected that it was now the latter.

James smiled slightly as he remembered such a memory. Well the first part anyway, the second part in hindsight was far less necessary than he believed. He had said what he said to make a certain point, but… did he actually suggest a situation where one of them would have to kill the other. The sweet girl who he once saw pretend to be a fairy princess (and actually gave a believable performance, well to Pelleas and Tristan apparently, and even himself at least caught got up in the game himself). Of course that little girl was not quite the same anymore. Her mind aged to that which would be expected of her body, he did not even know if there was any of that little girl left in her. Since the time of his memory, she aged far quicker than he had hoped. They had both become incredibly busier, that they hardly ever saw each other, much less speak to each other. Never did he get the chance to keep his promise to her. And probably most horribly, he felt the emotions cool between them, and he never heard those five words again.

And then he thought longer on his situation, and of his promise. Why had he started on the path he was now on? To him money was only an object to be used towards an end, power for its own sake holds no meaning. His own life he knew at one point was not the end, but a means to such an end. He had sought wealth, he had sought power, he had sought self-preservation but by themselves what were those things? Why had he? He had betrayed the organization that closer served his ideals and abandoned his sister. Why had he? Far more importantly, why had he forgotten?

…He knew what it was not for. It was not to betray his friends. It was not to bring the few he thought of as family pain. It was not to leave unfulfilled promises to those he cared most about. And it most certainly was not to let some random horror representing his crimes to stop him now.

The look in James’ eyes at that point changed greatly at that point. He took a deep breath in.

“Thank you Lady Greed, I extremely appreciate your services and kind offer. However I feel that I must decline.”

Finally turning his attention back to the battle he ordered “Gawain, Take Down followed by Muddy Water.”

At that moment, Gawain realized that the Crush Claw onslaught his arms were receiving was greatly weakening. He then grabbed the electric type by its attacking arms and slammed it into the ground face first, Gawain last, before raising a column of dirt filled water beneath the two of them, all the while holding the Eelektross into the violent stream of dirt and water.

"Press him down with Earthquake."

And with those words, Swampert finally unleashed his power onto the grounded Eelektross.

OOC: Slight correction, Blade--Kyle did not, in fact, roll his eyes. :P
IC - Sonja Baron/Kyle Eston - Opelucid City: As the threat of another argument lingered in the air, Sonja looked to Kyle--half in disbelief, half in search of help. Glancing very briefly at her, and then looking back at Ray and Ryan, he cocked his head to the side. "Ray," he said, his tone very deliberate. "I want you to think about what you just said, and then throw three Ancient Darkrai into the mix. Maybe add in a throne between point A and point B while you're at it. Then talk to me about leaving people alone in an unfamiliar city."
Sonja felt a jolt of frustration run down her spine. "Hey--come on," she said, pushing herself into the center of the group before any more shots could be fired. "Look, I don't know why we all feel the need to be so short with each other today, but can we all just admit that this entire trip was a misunderstanding and put it behind us?" She became aware of several other Pokémon Center patrons who were looking their way, curious as to what the disagreement was about. Ignoring them, she looked squarely at Kyle, and then at Ray, lowering her voice. "Can we please just go now? We can sort out people getting left behind when we get back to Four Island."

IC - Esen Windred/Silvermind/Rocket Triad - Cianwood City: "We need to take out their Pokémon, first off," Silvermind said, turning back to the battle. She and Esen watched as Cyan's Typhlosion launched another Flamethrower at Sabrina's Metagross, only to have the attack blocked by a Psychic shield and then get thrown away by the same attack. "After that, we can try to subdue them."

Esen shook her head. "That's not going to cut it," she said. "I took out their last wave and they just sent out more. Whatever is wrong with them isn't going to end with a battle--they need to be taken out and treated elsewhere, where they can't do any further public damage."

"Okay--point taken," Silvermind said, inwardly disagreeing with the notion that a full-on forceful approach wouldn't eventually work. "I take it you have a plan, then?"

"I do, actually," Esen answered. "Sabrina's leading them; I'm assuming it's through a mental link, otherwise she'd be speaking more. That in mind . . ." She straightened up, cracking her knuckles. "Take out the Metagross--I've got it from there."

Silvermind nodded. "Consider it done. Hannibal, Pursuit!" She issued the order just as Metagross charged after Typhlosion. The Tyranitar immediately thrust himself forward, shrugging off an attack from Surge's Manetric in the process, and stopped the Psychic-Steel-Type in its tracks with a powerful slam. Holding on tightly to the struggling automaton--and taking a glancing blow of a Hammer Arm in the process--Hannibal opened his maw wide and unleashed a powerful Flamethrower point-blank.

Metagross appeared visibly damaged and uncomfortable in the heat of the attack, though it did not have to struggle to survive for long: At the same time that it managed to plant its hind legs into the ground, using he leverage to fling Hannibal backwards, Koga's Venomoth flew forward, attacking Hannibal with Bug Buzz. Its keen focus on the Rock-Dark-Type quickly worked against it as Esen's Honchkrow swooped past, slamming into the moth with a Wing Attack that managed to knock it out--both out of the air and out of the battle.

In another part of the field, Jayron's Lucario had engaged Surge's Manetric, both of them moving too quickly for the other to hit. Eventually, Lucario managed to land a hit with Extremespeed, winding up in a lock with the Electric-Type in the process. Seeing this, Esen whistled. "Pin that Manetric with Rock Tomb, Gliscor!" Esen called. The flying scorpion complied, swooping down and slamming his claws into the ground. Lucario managed to jump back just as the rocks around Manetric sprang up, encasing its feet in stone and rendering it immobile.

Metagross, meanwhile, had moved in front of Sabrina, carefully eyeing the two Pokémon in front of it--Hannibal and Typhlosion, both bruised and tired but nonetheless raring for a skirmish. With a mechanical growl, Metagross lifted its front legs, preparing an Earthquake; however, its opponents were quicker on the draw. Both roared, opening their jaws and unleashing a pair of Flamethrowers at the Steel-Type, striking its exposed stomach and knocking it onto its back. Though it struggled for several moments, it eventually stopped moving, clearly fainted.

"Now, while she's open!" Silvermind called.

Esen nodded. "All right, Swoobat, let's finish this!" she yelled, pointing at Sabrina. "Hit 'em with Psychic, quickly!"

The bat issued a shrill whistle as she dropped, righting herself in midair and flying straight toward the psychic woman. Before Sabrina could react, Swoobat unleashed a powerful wave of mental force, striking her target dead on. Sabrina called out in pain as her mind was assaulted, the chains between herself, Surge and Koga resonating with the attack and transferring the force of the attack to them, as well. For far longer than should have been possible, they remained upright, each trying to fight against the forces assaulting them.

Ultimately, they failed.

With their mental link overwhelmed and shattered, the three fell, their rampage finally ended.

Esen and Jayron had been left to keep an eye on the bound and unconscious Gym Leaders while Silvermind and Cyan recovered the injured Jenny and Hex. They hardly moved in the time that the two were gone. Jayron was too preoccupied with watching the Gym Leaders, as well as trying to come to terms with what had happened to his former mentor. Esen, meanwhile, appeared to be in her own world, simultaneously zoning out and addressing her own injuries from the battle. Regardless, Silvermind and Cyan returned to find them in virtually the same places that they had been left in. After setting the injured Liberty members down, Cyan approached Jayron, speaking to the Executive in hushed tones.

The Liberty Leader took a moment to catch her breath, before straightening up and raising a hand to her ear, activating her comm. "Silvermind to base, requesting a clean-up crew in Cianwood," she said. "We're teleporting back with Sabrina, Surge, and Koga, as well as Agents Jennifer Lorn and Hex Yutry. Get a security team ready for the first three and a medical team for all five."

"Yes, ma'am," Rodia answered. "We'll be ready in three minutes. Hold steady til then."

"Copy that," Silvermind said. Dropping her hand to her side, she turned to Esen. Ace's daughter had returned to messing with her burnt leg, leaning against a wall and gingerly massaging it. Silvermind approached, reaching into her tactical bag and pulling out a Burn Heal, which she tossed to Esen. Though surprised, she caught the ointment. "Thanks for your help."

Esen rolled her pant leg up to her knee and began treating the wound. "You needed it," she said, just barely unable to hide a hint of gratitude in her tone. "I still say I had it covered."

"Right," Silvermind said, ignoring the implied slight. "So, what's your plan now?"

"None of your business." The Liberty Leader inclined her head, pointedly raising an eyebrow. Esen rolled her eyes. "I don't know--I was planning on heading to Kalos to capture a new Pokémon, but now that this has happened, I doubt there'll be any planes or boats out for the next few days." She shook her head, looking around at the damaged buildings, and then back at Silvermind. "Why do you care?"

"Well," Silvermind said, crossing her arms and taking a seat on a nearby boulder. "I can't just let you go without repaying you for your help, can I?" Esen raised an eyebrow. "If it were anyone else, I would offer them a place in Team Liberty, but as I know you aren't interested in that . . ." The Liberty Leader kicked a stone resting by her boot, sending it bouncing across the gravel. "As it happens, we have a few extra rooms in the Alamo open right now, and our transportation systems are top-notch. You're more than welcome to take refuge with us for a night or two, get your Pokémon healed, and then head to Kalos from there whenever you're ready--private transport and all."

Esen smirked. "You make a convincing offer, but no. I won't accept personal help from you."

"See, you keep saying that, and keep on telling me that we're murderers, even though we did not kill Ace," Silvermind said. "That's the other thing--she's buried in our cemetery. So maybe you'd like a visit?" Esen's eyes widened. "You might even get a chance to speak to the last person who saw her alive."

"Hm." Esen fell silent for several moments, doing her best to keep a stoic expression, though she could not fully hide the longing for closure present in her eyes. Blinking several times, she looked down at her burn--which, thanks to the Burn Heal, was already starting to look better--and unrolled her pant leg. Carefully, she lifted herself onto her feet. "Deal. I'm not paying for any hotel charges or anything, though."

"You won't need to," Silvermind assured her, rising to her own feet. Turning, she nodded to Cyan, who released his Gallade.

"Everyone ready to go?" he asked. The Liberty Leader looked to Esen, who nodded, and then gave the affirmative to Cyan. Seconds later, shrouded in a blue aura, the nine trainers teleported,re-materializing far away, in the Alamo's control center.

OOC: Aaand Cianwood is finally finished. Whew.

It really didn't help that day. Why things had gone so horribly wrong, he wasn't sure, but, as he saw Ryan's expression, Ray had eased up on his look. That really had been all he wanted to know right then, even if the whole way that Ryan had been acting since Ray got to Opelucid had been rather peculiar. Ray was right about to open his mouth to say for Ryan not to worry, even if he still had no clue what happened with him, when Kyle piped up. Ray simply looked over at him with a 'seriously?' sort of expression, and was rather glad when Sonja intervened, as this was most definitely not the time or place for this.

"Right. Let's discuss semantics of when threats seem neutralized for the moment, like if someone defuses a large threat, after we get back." Ray said, though he was confused, as when he had been running, it seemed like only a few steps. Disregarding that, Ray sent out Aizen, who, this time, teleported everyone back, taking this as the cue that everyone was ready.

IC: Landorus, Route 4

Landorus floated towards his fellow pokemon, looking quite fierce. Then, his aura dissipated, as if he didn't need what power he unleashed anymore.

"You honestly thought I was going to hurt you that badly?", Landorus said, "I'd like to think I am nicer than that! Get down, and stay out of the fight. That man seeks to use you for nothing but mayhem and murder. If I recall, your job was to ensure the cycle of destruction and creation rolls on."

Landorus then floated down towards the battle below, ready to rejoin Evan's team in battle.

IC: Evan Tierra, Route 4

Evan looked on as all the attacks were about to converge on Gnip, when another of Evan's pokemon came out. This time it was Bertha's Hippowdon who appeared. The Heavyweight pokemon blocked the Solarbeam and Draco meteor to protect Gnip. Vlad swooped in as well, to take the Dragon Claw aimed at Gnip. Both took the attacks and growled at their attackers, Hipppowdon panting quite a bit, due to taking two attacks that really did not mesh with her.

"Hippowdon, Ice Fang on Flygon!", Evan shouted, "Vlad, use acrobatics on the Cryogonal! Gnip, use Draco Meteor on Hydreigon!"

Hippowdon rushed towards the Flygon, and with cold infused teeth, chomped down on the Flygon's tail and slammed it down. Vlad, still clacking his pincers, glided swiftly over to the Cryogonal and started Jabbing it lightly with his pincers. Meanwhile, Gnip roared mightily as the mark on her muzzle glowed bright. Growing louder and louder, the roared carried on into the sky. Several balls of light fell from the sky, aimed right at Hydreigon.....

Tornadus and Thundurus looked at each other again, and then smiled, launching off a dual Uproar attack at Landorus in return; obviously not wanting to miss this chance to actually have a chance to maybe beat their elder.

The Cryogonal took the blow; but this time, after having tanked out damage for the rest of the fight, the Cryogonal finally succumbed to its damage, and fainted, as Gerald recalled his Pokemon with a scowl.

"No good Pokemon, you can't even do things right..." Gerald muttered darkly, which made Jenny frown in disgust, as Gerald motioned to the Scizor to head out next, the Scizor stealing a glance filled with pity toward his master, before looking toward Vlad, and dashing forward at the speed of a Bullet, aiming a Punch right at the Gliscor's face.

Meanwhile, the Flygon roared out in pain, as it attempted to twist quickly, and Crunch down on the Hippowdon in annoyance; though a brief look of confusion at the situation was present on the Flygon's face, before it faded once more.

The Hydreigon looked concerned, as the Draco Meteors hit their target each. The dust from the attack cleared to reveal the Hydreigon still barely upright, but heavily damaged and probably nearly fainted; but still it stood, not wanting to give in now, even if the look in its eyes seemed clearer than before...

IC: Ryan

Ryan was not prepared for the teleportation this time. His stomach lurched with the familiar-yet-sill-vastly-uncomfortable sensation of weightlessness as he was suddenly and forcibly transported half a world away.

As the group arrived on Four Island Beach, Ryan's feet hit the sand hard, causing his knees to buckle. The summer sun beat down on him, which made him feel even more sick to his stomach than he already was from the unexpected teleport. The Liberty Agent's face grew pale as he queasily collapsed into the arms of the nearest person for support -- and that person just so happened to be Sonja.

"...A little warning next time would be nice," he moaned weakly.

IC: Zoe

Zoe continued to giggle as the dancing monkey hopped off Colette's head and offered her a napkin with an apologetic pout. "How did you train him to dance like that?" she asked the Monferno's trainer with a silly grin.

IC: Landorus, Route 4

Landorus was struck by the dual Uproar. Landorus turned around slowly and started to float ominously towards Tornadus and Thundurus. As he apporached, his amber aura returned, glowing brighter and brighter.

"I tried being nice, and this is how you repay me?", Landorus said angrily, "I guess actions are the only thing you two will ever understand!"

With those words, Landorus suddenly lashed out with his tail with great force. The attack struck the two hard, knocking them out of the sky to the ground below.

"Destruction are two sides of the same coin.", Landorus said calmly, "You have to destroy to create, and create to destroy. I hope you two understand that eventually..."

With those words, Landorus floated down to the battle below.

IC: Evan Tierra, Route 4

Before the Bullet Punch struck Vlad, Gnip, deciding to take her eyes off of Gerald's Hydreigon, breathed forth a cloud of intense fire at Gerald's Scizor, aiming to at least cause a great deal of damaging it before it could take down Vlad. While the attack did damage the Scizor, the Bullet Punch connected with Vlad, knocking him out of the air. The Gliscor, despite feeling quite dizzy, got back up. Gnip looked on, waiting for the smoke to disperse......

Gerald's smirk faltered, as he saw the Scizor tumble to the side, and struggle to get up; although it wasn't actually working.

My body... It can't move... Tsk! The Scizor thought with a scowl, as all it could do was look on from the sidelines, attempting to get up every so often, but not succeeding.

"Why is this even happening? Are none of you actually trying to win?" Gerald scowled at his Pokemon, before being shocked by hearing two large crashes behind him. Gerald turned around, a look of pure astonishment on his face, as he saw Tornadus and Thundurus laying on the ground, both knocked out, as he then looked back with pure hate toward Evan.

"You... have interfered for the last time!" Gerald roared out, as the Hydreigon's eyes glinted, and it flew away from the distracted Gnip, launching off a set of its own Draco Meteors toward the land shark...
