IC [Varangia]Thanks to some good speed, a few ocean currents, and possibly black magic, the crew of fifty arrived sometime later at the icy island. The Stans, coming from an icy island themselves, didn't care about the cold and the teams were distributed; three teams of 20, 20, and 10 were put at different areas of the islands, presumably to get as much cultural information as possible. One of the teams, a team of twenty, was put in charge of gathering information from this 'Royal Academy', and by extension, the other no doubt great cultural deposits in the city.The team wore heavy cloaks for the weather, obscuring their features and probably saving them from a disturbance when people who had been isolated for their known history saw people of completely different features, skin, and eyes than those on this little island cluster.

They're currently docked in the port of Syressa and will be sent, after more preparation, to the far west to see what can be seen.I'd also like to explain my half-absence. The RPG's approval came at a bad time for me, for multiple reasons. One being that I just took on a major project writing wise, have multiple school projects that, while not necessarily stressful, are taking my time, and, perhaps worst of all, I'm just don't entirely feel like playing an RPG like this at this moment. OOCBlah; this is what one gets after trying to do a post off of entirely memory. I guess just one team in the sparsely populated area, and another on your main little island.IC [standast]Having noted the wandering ship a few speed boats were sent out, guiding the vessel into a lightly used harbor, as the last thing the Stan government wanted was some drunk fisher to ram his or her boat into the foreigner's boat. Upon successfully docking the foreigners were guided to a set of vans, police -or the somewhat equivalent of them in the Stan legal system- waiting next to them. It was doubtful anyone would try attacking the foreigners, but you could never be too careful in times like this.The foreigners were loaded into the waiting vans, and this commenced an hour drive inland, passing cities, farms, and the occasional snowy plainsland. The further inland they got though, the rougher the terrain came, until finally they reached the capital of Standast; Fjöll. Thing about Fjöll was it wasn't structured like most cities; this far inland the mountains began to pick up, and while years of mining the mountains and blowing up whatever they couldn't mine smoothed things out, it was still fairly rough. The first thing noticeable right from the start was the vast system of bridges, stretching across gaps towards other plateaus. Even as the vans came in they drove over a bridge, traffic not too bad at the time thanks to some timing on the Stans part. As they drove further into the city stone buildings appeared, three story high apartment like structures populating the inner city with smaller one story structures on the outside. It was the oldest city on the Stan mainland, only being beat by a city on the western island that was nearly five thousand years old.They arrived at a campus, the First State University, as the massive sign at the entrance stated. As they drove though the varied buildings they eventually reached the National Library, as another massive sign stated, and the Stan drivers told the Varangians that they had arrived.

OOCNot much happened. The UN (Forum of Nations is what it's called) was formed, with invitations sent to everyone, and... yeah, that's all.It's been sadly rather quiet here. Might have to do some GM magic and spark some person-person action.

OOC: Was the Varangian trade stuff mostly involving materials and whatnot?IC: The citizens recruited for the first Kiserran colonisation of the giant landmass to the west (currently known as Granterre for lack of a better name), after being held back for two months by problems with the ships to be used for transport, had finally set out. Their destination was an island, N14, about the size of Kiserre near the southern end of the landmass.Upon arriving, prefabricated communal shelters were removed from the ships and moved up the beach into an open field. This new settlement, along wih the island, would be known as Murelle.---Back home, another set of Kuma battle tanks, and new heavy lift helicopters had been completed in Arugerre and Beruji respectively.Both the tanks and helicopters were sent off to the 3rd Legion in Shimaki.

IC:The Astarians had sent up a few satellites over the years; one was a simple camera satellite, to get the lay of the world's shape; one satellite had been sent up with a telescope, to study the stars. Of the three other Astarian satellites, there was one more; it held a gigantic mirror, originally designed to reflect light as part of a telescope assembly. But now, with the Telescope decayed beyond all use, the majority of the telescope's casing was cast off by explosive bolts, leaving the five-foot, polished mirror, and a shutter that could open or close on command. This shutter was programmed to open and close in rapid succession; the mirror's angle was calculated so that, at night time for that region, the mirror would reflect sunlight down onto a civilized continent, one to the east, discovered by satellite. The people of Kiserre could not help but notice a tiny, flashing, speck of light approaching the brightness of the sun in the night sky. From the orbit trajectory of the satellite, which the government could not ignore, someone skilled in ballistics would be able to trace the Astarian satellite on its entire five-hundred orbits, down to its launch point in Astaria

The colonization group had been ready for more than half a year by this point, and the people were getting restless. The group was also rather large, and as more transport was obtained, more people came. However, they had finally secured enough ships and were off to the mainland. What was to wait for them there? Who knew?

IC [standast]At long last, the Sparrow II was complete. Standing at over ninety meters in height, cast in a dull gray tone with it's heat-proofed plating on, it was a site to see to say the least. It had been built, tested, and moved to the launchpad during this long time, but unlike it's predecessor, which merely had a small capsule with basic radar abilities, the Stans were taking an ambitious step forward, with what looked to be a plane. The only part of it that stuck out as the capsule head, with the rest of it covered in a secondary heat shield, but when it would come out it would look to be like a small plane with oddly long wings. A space plane of sorts; one might call it a space shuttle.For this mission there were three crew; a Colonel, Lieutenant Colonel, and a Captain from the Stan Air Force. All of them were test pilots, use to taking extreme missions such as this. Another benefit was their vows of secrecy; onboard the Sparrow II was sophisticated telescopic and radar equipment. They would be in space for nearly three days, circling the planet many times to get a good look at other people's. The radar would serve to find other craft in space, and hopefully, to pinpoint their origin. The Stans needed to know who could go into space and who couldn't; space based weaponry was too much of a threat to go ignorant about.So as the crew reported in ready and the rocket began it's main burn, sending out shockwaves as the massive solid fuel boosters propelled it upwards before the liquid fuel engines sparked to life, the military committees watched and waited. The results of this mission could mean the difference between the survival and the demise of Standast.

IC(Kiserre): Using relatively new theoretical mathematics, a small group of scientists on Kiserre's easter island of Shimaki managed to track the slowly flashing light in the night sky down to an still unexplored area of the planet, a region that was still covered in storms as far as they knew.A ship was sent off to the region to see if anythign had changed since the last time anyone had passed through.---OOC: I had to correct my math; my Chuuhi fighters no longer exist. ;_;

OOCBlah. This is moving at the pace of a slow snail. Thus, time to breath life into it. Also, the official name for the main continent is now Mikill Leyndardómur. Call it what you will, but it's what I'm calling it.IC [Mikill Leyndardómur]The bases and few civilian buildings had been left alone; while all knew something was strange about the unexplored continent, there was never any proof, never any real evidence that something was odd. It was simply a feeling in the air, maybe something that tapped into the many senses humanity holds. Regardless, something was wrong; and now the politicians had reason to look towards the continent.Eight people in total went missing; two from each nation. A hardly substantial number, but it was enough to cause alarm. No one quite knew what had happened; one day they were there, the next, they were gone. It would be up to their governments to find out what happened.All the while the mountain ranges of the continent, cutting right through the middle of it, were beginning to release x-ray and some gamma ray bursts, not enough to do any harm to people not near the mountain peaks, but certainly enough that it would be detected.OOCSend out search parties/investigators for interaction. I only know of four people -myself included- on the main continent; if you're on too, you get it too.

Two colonies had been founded right beside each other (assuming the answer is yes). It was definitely noted that one person from each had gone missing. However, it took about a month for a search party to be sent; people were busy, the the disappearances were low on the list. However, a party of five scientists and twenty soldiers was sent to investigate the radiation almost as soon as it was discovered. Why send soldiers? If it was a weapon, they would set to work disabling it and calling in reinforcements immediately.~•~Meanwhile, the first prototypes of the moon landing were almost complete. There was still a long way to go, though.~•~Trade routes were plotted toward two nations besides Standast, which had been a trade partner for almost two years now. The new routes were to the nations of Anitalia and Saaristo.

IC:Flying by jet and starting rather close to the continent, along with being taken from a group already preparing for life on the continent, the Astarian search party was first to arrive in the central mountain regions; videos and radar were constantly running, taking the scope of this land at a detail unmatched by satellite while the search party prepared to investigate the radiation bursts; the crew all wore lead-lined suits, in case there was undetected alpha, beta, or gamma particle emissions; while Astarian experience with nucleoinics was sparse at best, they had figured out both that they were harmful and how to prevent it.Industrial ReportProject Reverene(100): 20/60Python Column 1(50): 4/7Recruitment: 4/7

As in, two of your own settlements?Also, I hope when you guys send out these recruiting calls you keep note of it somewhere so you can add it onto your province growth stuff later. I still need to do the maths for my stuff though, so I don't blame you if you haven't gotten around to it xDIC [Mikill Leyndardómur]The thick forests that covered the untamed land were a major detriment to any aerial sweeps. The few areas not dominated by the seemingly endless forests were the rolling plainslands and the scattered mountain dominated deserts, neither of which held any interest. The mountains, however, did. If anyone had research data on the strange meteors that had fallen, the sweeps would reveal that the energy output was the same sort, just much more intense. Volcanic activity meant some had probably fallen into lava.Odd cave formations could be spotted from the air, though, a seemingly open signal that something was up. Question was, would the search teams actually investigate them or not.

IC:Finding a clearing for the jet to put down had been difficult, but possible only due to the unique way the jet had been modified; an open prarie, perhaps the size of a field one might used for a sport where kicking a ball into a field is central, was found, not too far from the mountains and quite close to one of the lower caves. Smaller than any normal runway, but forward-facing takeoff assist rockets had slowed the jet where friction could not.Meresti Aliak, who had spent a month's training to add "professional explorer" to her credentials as a psychologist, and whose jet to the north had been forced to turn back by storms, was the first Astarian to set foot on the continent. Her radiation suit had been discarded when the nucleonics engineer had determined there was no threatening radiation, leaving her in khaki shorts, a thick shirt, and a wide-brimmed hat. A large spade, the sort used by the army, hung at her waist, opposite a big-game revolver. Her yet-untested knowledge of exploration scanned her surroundings. Unknown grasses and exotic trees, but some of it was bound to be edible. A strange cave, a few hundred meters off, through the jungle but visible from the air. The others stepped off the plane, following Meresti.

IC: The military finally built up and growth in Aquileon bursting, the President decided to authorize a colonial experiment on the mainland, named "Europa." By every method of communication, it was quickly declared that a new city would take shape on Europa's soil, under the flag of Aquileon.Meanwhile, the first fast attack sub of the Aquileonese fleet slid out into the ocean, and the newest pieces of military technology were sent to the Europan Expeditionary Force, which held the location for the new (as-yet-unnamed) city.

Grizzly bears could move rather fast, even when loaded with two people each along with all the equipment. Thus, the Slacians arrived before too long. As no deadly radiation was detected, they decided to keep pushing forward. When they reached a cave formation, it was noted. Two scientists and five soldiers went in to check it out. Three of their trained bears went inside the cave, while the fourth went with the group to carry equipment.

IC (Kiserre): The strange radiation had been noticed and reported to the government. No action was taken, as there was no reasonfor it to hold signifigance.The colonist disappearances had been noted, and assumed to be either by wild animals or possible natives, though there had been no sign of the latter since the continent's discovery. The colony's security forces had performed a search of the several kilometres surrounding the settlement, but found nothing.
