  1. ...or it's called the Mask of Ultimate Power because it isn't constrained by any one element, but instead contains All? I thought that was kind of its point; Makuta made it using all of the elements. If that all just condensed down into a single power, that would be rather... anticlimactic.
  2. So let me make sure I've got this straight. The Vahi in the book is an accurate representation of the G2 Vahi, even though it's obviously the lower half of a mask. And at the same time, the lower half of the mask has to be the G1 Vahi. Is this the full Mask of Time?
  3. Considering that sounds like complete gibberish, even knowing what they're referring to, I should hope that's a nightmare to a lot of people.
  4. ...I seem to have wound up in the background of one shot. Guess I'm a cameo.
  5. Well, I won a BBC contest, placed in the finals for others, went to Brickfair and actually met some friends for the first time. That was all good. On the other hand, I've probably lost about a decade off my life expectancy from high blood pressure from this site.
  6. Going through 82 pages of reputation content is tedious but I think my most popular are these two, both at 33.
  7. Aayla and Luminara shake their heads in disappointment. The fact that I had to look up those names to see who they were means that it's hardly comparable to the Luke Skywalker slot of the protagonists being filled by a woman.
  8. See, I just don't think any of those pop the same way the azure does. It's like I said about that Springer toy; it all just sort of runs together. There's not really much contrast.
  9. No, I mean looking at a set and honestly asking yourself if you like it. I know DeeVee. If there is one thing I can never see that man do, it's jump on a bandwagon. He says what he thinks, not what others want to hear. I guarantee you, he actually dislikes this set. You're just caught up in the idea that anyone who thinks a set you like doesn't actually understand it, when it's entirely possible for people to dislike a thing you like. The point of a set review is not to spit out what readers want to hear, it's for the reviewer to give their honest opinion. That is what DeeVee has done, and that is what you wish to villify, simply because you can't understand the idea of someone disagreeing with you for valid reasons.
  10. I don't know, maybe it's the color layout that has me so soured on the dark tan? With the big chestplate and thighs in dark tan, and only the mask and upper arm bones in dark orange, it really feels like it's crowding it out of his color scheme. Maybe if the chestplate was dark orange with tan accents instead of the other way around, it would feel more balanced to me, but right now, I really don't like how it looks at all.
  11. More of this ^ Less of sour reviewers and people who complain too much and can only bad mouthing Tahu. He is great! Deal with it. "More people who agree with me, fewer people who exercise critical thinking and form their own opinions of things."
  12. Really? My computer runs Windows 10 (I'm assuming that's what W10 means), and it runs just fine for me.
  13. I'm not sure if it's accurate to say nobody was getting paid to do it; if all the progress since Factory was discontinued have been by the good graces of programmers working for free, I'm surprised we got as many updates as we did! Programming is not easy, and I know few who would do so much for free. Now, what is true is that LEGO, as a company, was not making money from it anymore. That makes sense as a reason for them to shove it down the priority list; why put resources (like money for programmers) into something that isn't pulling any kind of profit? Obviously, they saw a benefit to it for this long, but now they have other things to put that time and money into that probably have more of a benefit to them as a company. I agree with Lyichir that that's a right shame. I use LDD to build sets I'm interested in sometimes, get an idea of how they're made. Other times, I use it to get an idea of how something I want to try building could work, and sometimes I just use it to build a mock-up, of MOCs or of possible improvements to sets. It's a shame there are no updates on the horizon to aid in that.
  14. Honestly, one thing that's bugging me about Pohatu is the shade of tan used. Every time I look at him, it feels like his tan is dingier and duller than his primary "brown". It just feels wrong to have a secondary color so much darker-looking than the primary. If I had my druthers, he'd use Brick Yellow instead of Sand Yellow. Granted, that would make his chest piece too bright, make it draw far too much attention. I'd probably change it to Dark Orange, with Brick Yellow and silver accents. I'd leave the leg shells tan (well, the new suggested shade of tan, not dark tan), and perhaps change the lower arm shells to tan. Or possibly silver, to give him a gloved look to go with his boots. Regardless, I feel like that would solve both his visual dearth of brown, and the strange conflict between a vivid brown and a dingy tan. I know others probably don't mind the look. It just... feels very weird to me, this dark tan.
  15. So, I saw that new Star Wars movie today. I wrote up a whole big review, but it's too profanity-laden to post (not because I disliked the movie; I just swear very casually off BZP), so instead I'm just going to say it's very good. Of the two extensions of a pre-existing franchise I've seen this year, I would definitely, definitely recommend TFA over Jurassic World. Unlike JW, it doesn't rely on nostalgia to sell it; it actually took the time to make a good movie in the process. okay but one spoiler thing, alright? i'll try to put it in spoiler tags but they don't always work. Don't click if you haven't seen it, etc. (oh yeah also i'll take care of the premier membership giveaway soon. i've been a little lazy lately. i haven't forgotten; one of the two entrants will get it, i guarantee)
  16. That's how they've been portrayed so far; in all instances where a Toa has lost their mask, they've grown weak, and haven't shown any elemental abilities. Kinda? The animations show the Golden masks as the ones that unlock their elemental powers, but I'm pretty sure their intention is that they're an upgrade. They haven't covered this yet, but I'd imagine that, even if they could wear the mask of another Toa, it wouldn't automatically make them a master of the element. It would be like handing a sword to someone with no formal weapons training; they can swing it around and make noises, but they don't have the expertise to actually handle it. As near as I can tell, it just... helps create. They haven't gone into depth on it yet. I'd imagine the power surge is just something that happens with a mask that powerful? I don't know. We'll probably have to wait until we see it in action to tell.
  17. You're right, it's not the best example. The sun doesn't have a color scheme, it has a color. Singular. (Well, up close it has more of a gradient of the same color in varying shades, but, semantics.) It's just a big orange circle. Of course a small blotch of incongruous blue would look weird. A toy, however, has more components than one big circle. If Tahu were one big blob, I'd agree that he would flow far better were he monochromatic. But instead, he is a toy with many parts. Sometimes, those parts are allowed to contrast each other, for added effect. For example, this toy of Springer from Transformers is a lot like you'd prefer Tahu to be-- he's almost entirely shades of green, with little to no contrast, especially in robot mode. Sure, it all flows together very well. It's also exceedingly boring. Hasbro's release of the same toy, meanwhile, uses far more bright yellow, and to great effect; it pops in a way the different shades of green just don't. The same applies to Tahu's blue. Overall, the guy's warm colors! He's reds and oranges and golds. Left at that, they all kinda blend into an amorphous blob, like Takara's Springer. Throw in some blue, though, and wham, bam, thank you, ma'am, it pops out among the colors, and makes him more exciting to look at. If you got rid of the blue, one of the few distinguishing features of this set would be lost. I mean, just looking at this sloppy photoshop i threw together, he just feels so much less... dynamic. As for detail, I don't dislike the idea of detail. But as DeeVee says, it's pulled off atrociously by this chest piece. Not even in G1 Bionicle would a piece have upwards of 20 pistons crammed into a small place, not even serving any actual perceived purpose besides to meet some detail quota. There needs to be some coherency to the design.
  18. Sometimes, when you want to understand a review, you have to, you know. Read it. If you need to squint your eyes to ignore the blatantly clashing textures of a set and enjoy it, I'd say that's a more than valid criticism.
  19. Fire can be blue. Honestly, this review covers just about every problem I have with this set. A dearth of red, textures are all over the place, the chest piece is a monster, and honestly just overall a step down from the features that I felt made his 2015 form stand out. (I mean, obviously, they couldn't keep the blades on his back what with the combination gimmick, but I really loved the silhouette they gave him.) I mean, the trans orange makes him look extremely vibrant and full of energy... but throwing on a couple spots of red really makes me wish he either had more of it, or had none at all. Tahu was actually one of my favorites last year (I have three of him!) but this is honestly, in many ways, a disappointing step down from that.
  20. I thought the wings were clearly bug. The blade is the shell casing, and the wing pieces are the insect wings, which their shape works well for.
  21. Uxar is my favorite of the Creatures (even if it does kind of share Lewa's oversilvering problem). Very nice-looking, fun-looking function, and I am always here for allied creatures that aren't mammals/birds.
  22. Alright I know it's just support and all but honestly all I could see in the first images was this Silliness aside, this is very well-done! It captures the shape of the robot's head very well. I only wish the panels under the eyes could have been silver or grey, but I'm assuming if they could have been, they would have been.
  23. this name is very important

    1. Naota Takizawa

      Naota Takizawa

This is the best name in existence.

    2. GAY AS HECK
  24. ...is a throwaway joking comment about getting a review copy for free really something to get up in arms about? Maybe the set didn't appeal to him, maybe his budget didn't allow for it, I don't know, and it's not my business (or anyone's, really) why he didn't buy MMvsSG. It wasn't about greed, it was just a small, probably tongue-in-cheek note that the reason he has this set, while not having MMvsSG, is that he was sent this one for free to review. Honestly, it just comes across to me as intentionally reading malice where there is none.
  25. I see they're going the "absurd amounts of Kryptonite" route of getting around the whole "Superman is superhuman, and Batman is emphatically not" thing. I mean, that still doesn't change the fact that Superman could just pick up a sizeable rock and drop it on Batman from a safe distance. Or kill Batman with laser vision from a safe distance. Or really use any of his multitude of powers Batman doesn't have and kill Batman from a distance, because in the end, Superman is superhuman, Batman isn't, stop trying to make convoluted explanations for why Batman could totally hold his own, dweebs.
