At first, I was going to abstain from voting.
Then, I thought it'd at least be fun to spoil my ballot with some choice words in place of the candidate number.
But after going through the YLE election questionnaire, I found the perfect candidate to vote for:
Srsly, how can you beat that?
THE HORROR
Yellow and Keetorange do not play well together!
Oh well. At least it'll be a good parts pack. Possibly. And that waist config looks interesting in its own right.
1. . If you have not yet seen this film, then I highly recommend you do so. In fact, given that you are economically privileged enough to have Internet access which enables you to read this post, I would say there is simply no excuse for not having seen or not intending to see this film. Unless, of course, cinematic entertainment happens to go against your religion. Then, and only then, would you be exempt. Because
Slumdog Millionaire is simply the greatest film all around of the year 2008.

Mean people suck.
Also predatory con artists - I've fallen victim to two of them in the past week. They're both business directory companies that contacted me by phone, one posing as an official registry, the other as Google. Typical hard-sell telemarketing tactics, but on a whole new level for me. Not knowing what I was dealing with, I didn't stand a chance. The first one sent me a bill for 157 euros, and I'm expecting a bill for something like 300 euros from the fake Google. I'm so fighting

We live in a time of perpetual crisis. Wars and rumours of wars. Natural disasters. Financial collapse. Environmental degradation. These are the stuff of our everyday lives, especially if we pay attention to the news.
We are beset from every direction by voices begging to be heard. Everyone's got a message for us. The most insistent, pervasive voices are the ones trying to sell us something. A product. A service. An image. A momen
Why do I drink coffee and then wonder why my stomach is all grouchy and gross-feeling?
Why do people pay money for someone else to give them pre-digested answers when they could just figure it out for themselves, and gain so much more in the process?
Why are we so caught up in petty dramas, material acquisition, and pretending to be something we're not?
Why do we sabotage ourselves and hurt the people close to us?
Why?
It's stupid. :annoyed2:

1. My dear cousin had her baby last week. They said it's a healthy boy, dark-haired like his father. I am making a cake for them at this very moment.
2. I spent the weekend at a relative's summer cabin. He's a cool guy, and the place is really something. I helped him saw some lumber on Saturday, but mostly I just settled in, relaxed, and enjoyed the the idyll of the river-pond. I will most likely be spending many of my weekends there this summer (and why not weekdays too, schedules permittin

GAAAH IM SO GIDDY
Well, not now. But I was when this happened.
Last night -- well, OK, this morning -- I was dreaming that I was with my family (impossible in real life, since they're approximately 4,316 miles away), but then I realized that I was supposed to help my cousin move today (true in real life). I looked at the clock and I was like 'cause it was well into the afternoon already. Then I looked again.
I finally finished my rune set. They ain't pretty, but they'll do the job.
The Elder Futhark, in three aettir (groups of eight).
Credit to my wonderful grandma for putting together this handy drawstring bag.
I consecrated them last night (a half moon, as it happens) and polished them with a finish made of premium olive oil and beeswax.
I have requested only one thing from these runes:
"Teach me wisdom."
It'll be interesting to see what they have to say when I start d
Apocalyptica is a well-known Finnish band that presently comprises three cellists: Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso, and Paavo Lötjönen. I'm not such a huge fan of their earlier, cello-only albums; while there's something to be said for purism, it's also a sure-fire way to retain a fringe following and not much else. For instance, one of their early albums, Apocalyptica Plays Metallica by Four Cellos, is interesting to me mainly as a musical experiment; while it's a pretty well-done interpretat
Also, reworked Nidhiki is hawt.
Pics coming. You'll see what I mean.
Also also: New project is new and involves copious amounts of System.
BIONICLE ROCK CONCERT.
I came across an interesting article today. What makes it all the more interesting is that there's some actual science behind it.

The basic premise of this article agrees with my own experience. I can't remember when was the last time I suffered flu symptoms -- it may have been several years ago, while I was in the army.
Contagion spreads like wildfire in the barracks. It seemed like there was always someone in the platoon with a fever, a
I'm making a set of runes, for rune casting. (I'll post pics when they're done.)
I haven't converted to Ásatrú, though. It's a pretty demanding religion.
And to the Internet know-it-all who said you gotta be a serious, practicing Asatruist to cast runes, I say bollocks!

This is a still frame from Waking Life. The scene is a film within the film, called "The Holy Moment." The protagonist walks into a movie theater. On the big screen, two men discuss film as a medium, not for storytelling, but for framing reality in such a way that the moment on screen becomes a "holy" moment -- THIS moment. NOW.
The men decide to have a holy moment of their own. They look into each others' eyes. The experience is so moving that the man on the right has to wipe away
I sing bass in a church choir that goes by the unlikely name of Mixed Choir Twinkle.
We are currently on the road. We sang one gig today, and we've got another one tomorrow in a different city. Today's concert went very well, despite a few minor mistakes on my part.
BCii is actually "having fun." This is unusual.

On an unrelated note, I have a bunch of MOCs awaiting final touches and/or photo sessions. What is it with me, huh? Get with the program, BCii.
I recently started a MOC of the Red Star. Just yesterday, I felt a sudden impulse to add a set of big honkin' rocket engines. Now I find out that my independently conceived idea of what the Red Star is... is right on the money.
I totally picked that up telepathically.
(THE RED STAR IS A *FISH.)
Waking Life is my favourite movie ever.
That's quite the absolute statement to be making, I know -- and I admit I am prone to exaggeration -- but I tell you: It really is my favourite movie of all time. Which is to say, it's my favourite movie right now. Because, as the film points out, there is only one moment: The Now. Everything else -- the whole concept of time, with its perceived past, present, and future -- is just a projection of our minds, immersed in this dream world. We're all reall
From Fringe Knowledge for Beginners, a most interesting little book. It contains much that might seem pretty "out there" for the average person, but also some very practical, down-to-earth, mainstream-compatible advice. The chapter on emotional balance has such a broad scope of general relevance (for anyone interested in such a thing) that it's worth sharing here in its entirety.
