I applied for one of those college summer programs for high school kids, at Columbia University.
The application process has me absolutely stunned by its inefficiency.
For one thing, I sent them at least four e-mails requesting clarification, or any report on the status of my application. Not a single one of them has yet been returned. I mean, we're talking I sent these things at least a month ago. Heck, I was an early applicant! And aside from the whole not answering e-mails and not answe
Yesterday I was almost run over by a car. First time that's ever happened.
I mean, even now it seems almost surreal, you know? It all happened so fast, and I didn't have much time to be scared at the moment it happened, so I didn't really get scared afterward. Odd feeling.
Yesterday we were going out to eat, and it was near our house, so we were gonna walk there. I decided to bike instead. I come to the major road in front of our development, in fact the intersection of two major roads, on
You know, when it comes down to it... on a hot day in spring, nearly summer, what in the world beats a nice bowl of freezing cold ice cream?
It's the little things in life. All about the little things.
I entered da BBC Contestamadoohickey!
Yes, this entry has no other point.
Holy blatant advertising, Batman!
I heard that from someone somewhere, I forget. I've used it way too many times before.
Also, The Cobra Event by Richard Preston.
And there's apparently a Warriors comic/graphic novel thingy out now. I read the first one at Barnes & Noble.
Uh, this was kind of a pointless post.
Pizza party! \m/,
$11.50
You know what that is?
That's how much money I'd have if I had a quarter for every time I sneezed today.
46 sneezes. Geez. Assuming that I'm going to have a... 14 hour day, that makes, what, something like 3.5 sneezes an hour? A little less than that, but nevertheless... scary.
Yesterday I ended the day with only six bucks!
Allergies... yeesh.
Couple days ago it was raining so hard, if ya left a couple dozen typewriters outside, by morning you'd have the complete works of Shakespeare.
But that's an entry I oughta have written the day after the massive storm.
Today, something absolutely absurd that I did last night, while we were eating watermelon.
You wanna see what I did?
You really wanna see?
Prepare yourslef...
IT'S SCARY!
Yeah, I was bored, and we did eventually eat it.
Also...
Sylar attacks!
It ALWAYS happens... whenever I forget to copy my post to clipboard, the server always picks just that moment to blow up on me.
Well, I'll have to retype this entire post. Thankfully it's not a very long one.
Anyway, the other day my sister was misbehaving during dinnertime. She was running all over the place, dashing over to my chair and chattering away about whatever whims entered her four-year-old mind, then trotting over to the family room to play with her toys for a bit, and then mayb
Spring is certainly in the air. In fact, now that the trees are budding, the air is full to bursting with spring.
This of course means that the air for quite a ways has become unbreathable because of POLLEN.
I hate allergies.
POLLEN!!!!!!!!!
I can't believe it! I mean, I remember Columbine and that was shocking, but, I mean, oh my gosh, 22, up to 32 people dead?
It's frightening, really. I mean, I'm just sitting here and someone IMs me, like "Turn on Headline News" and I flip on CNN and there are police cars and people talking about shooting...
This is crazy.
My heart goes out to those killed and wounded, and their families and friends. I hope nothing like this ever happens again...
That's the first time it's ever happened to me.
School called off for massive Nor'easter storm (I've always wondered, why not just say "Northeaster"? Is the extra "th" that much trouble?).
Though it's already stopped raining. Lots of flooding and stuff yesterday, though. Not specifically by my house, our basement is still dry, but just in the area.
Also...
Yaaaaaay I'm really considering the T-shirt thing. If anything I'd buy one for myself. =3
Ya think I forgot about her?
I had other things to worry about drawing and doodling-wise, but I've gone back to my old scans and started to CG them...
I'll have to dig up all my witty sadistic quotes that go along with these pics.
I'm thinking of making T-Shirts. =D
... they ARE big enough.
The other day while heading to the bus stop I noticed a red-breasted robin hopping from branch to branch in a tree and twittering. Sure, it was more rusty orange than red. But it was the first bird I've seen in months.
Sure, it may still be cold enough to numb one's fingers. But the trees are blooming and the winds are changing, and, after all, the birds know best.
Hope everyone has a wonderful springtime.
Ooooooh it is one of the SCARIEST books I've ever read. Not scary like Stephen-King-psychotic-killer scary. I mean, it's a dramatized TRUE STORY, and the implications are incredible.
The Hot Zone by Richard Preston tells the true story of government agencies rushing to contain a possible outbreak of the deadliest virus alive, in the United States, barely miles from Washington D.C. It goes into very gruesome detail concerning the effects of Ebola and Marburg on the bodies of its victims. It's
GUESSWHATGUESSWHATGUESSWHAT!?
Two BIG newseses with Latin!
Firstly, WE GOT THE RESULTS OF THE NATIONAL LATIN EXAM BACK AND GUESS WHAT!?
You know what I scored out of 40? THIRTY. NINE. Only one question wrong! And I know which one, too.
Gold medal, HECK yes! I don't need to take the Latin final!
Also, yesterday night I was inducted into the National Junion Classical League LATIN HONOR SOCIETY!
There's something for the college app.
Also, on a completely unrelated note...
Please vote me the keeper of the reaper
I wanna be the keeper of the reaper
His skinny white bones are mine to owns
To do with as I see fit
Give him to me and I promise my love won't quit.
I disagree 'bout the keeper of the reaper
It should be me who's the keeper of the reaper
Grim's not a toy for an [cool dude] boy
Who can't even tie his shoes
If Billy wins then we all surely lose.
Don't I get a say in the keeper of the reaper?
I'll make you all pay for the keeper of the reaper!
Yep. 'nother one 'bout my sister.
Quick (and thankfully entertaining) backstory before the first quote.
We're in Florida and my dad brought along his newest toy to help us out: a Garmin GPS system. Never need a map again!
So it's suction-cupped to the windshield and warbling out directions, and my Dad says, "You know, I heard on the radio that some people love these things so much that they give them names and say they want to marry it or something, and you know I can sort of see... I m
I'm back, and glad to be. Had a great time on vacation, but it's nice to get home.
Disney World + Sea World + Universal was awesome, lots of fun. Sunday, Epcot; Monday, Sea World; Tuesday, Magic Kingdom (best day); Wednesday, Universal Studios; and yesterday, MGM (best night show).
It was really great. Tuesday we got there early (I can't see why you have to park, then take the tram, then ride a monorail, and THEN make it to Magic Kingdom) and Space Mountain only had 20 minutes wait, plus t
I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
I'm sooooo excited.
I'll be gone 'till Friday.
Oh, and evil? Thy name is spring break assignment.
IT'S CALLED SPRING BREAK FOR A REASON!
Ah well. For seven days, I'm going to forget about homework. Bring along the sketchbook. Maybe a couple good books.
It's gonna be AWESOME.
Slightly regret that I'm going to miss April Fools, but I'll find out what happened when I get back.
See ya!
Ah, yes, change is good...
...
Yes, I love The Lion King, but that wasn't the point of this entry.
The point is, the weather is improving. Today was sorta blustery but yesterday, oh man, yesterday, it was EIGHTY DEGREES OUT! I mean, but a week ago I was freezing my fingers off and there was snow on the ground! And yesterday was so beautiful! Nothing more than a nice breeze, sun hot enough to make you genuinely sweat without even excercising,
PRETTY WEATHER!
Yeah. We went to the p
The library is one of my favorite places...
BOOOOOOOOOOOOKS.
Also
FOOOOOOOOOOOOOD.
Yeah, while biking home from the library after volunteering I was overwhelmed by the smell of something greasy and fried. I mean, the only food place nearby was a Dunkin' Donuts. Not generally a place where you'd find french fries and othersuch foodstuffs. Maybe I was having olfactory hallucinations due to my hunger (it was 5:30, almost dinnertime). Or maybe the cars were all using biodiesel. I hear
I may have already ranted about how bad that new playground is, but I just took my sister there today, and I must comment on it, it absolutely stinks. It's not just poorly designed. If you ask me, it's unSAFE. Heck, I'm ready to write in to complain.
See, it's NEW, a lot newer and fancier, but it's like they tried to make it look pretty and shiny before making it work well for children.
No part of a playground equipment should be open that is above four feet. By open I mean like, a ladder,
I don't often post new art anymore. It's because as my patience increases I spend more time on each piece. I used to turn out a piece a day, but it was generally terrible. Now I turn out something if I get inspiration now and then and if I really think it came out well. It takes a lot longer, and often several sketches.
It's odd though. I post something decent hopefully once a month. And now people seem to think I'm someone new to the forum whenever I do. I get posts treating me like I just a
So.
...
I should probably have something to rant about.
Or maybe something to make an odd point concerning.
Or perhaps an interesting anecdote.
I know! Seen Traffic, the most recent one I just put up? Well, did I say I entered it in this video contest at school? If I didn't, now I did. And I don't know what place I got out of ten but I made the top ten, that I know, which isn't saying much since I doubt there were more than 15 entries. But anyway, yeah. Problem is they don't like
