So I saw Golden Compass today.
I dunno why they ended it where they did. Can't think of any more important scenes that they had to get through before the end of the first book, and ending it where the book ended would have been better, because it's a nice place to stop. I mean, the book also left you hanging, but everything else was nicely tied off and it was the start of a whole new adventure and whatnot, so it wasn't as bad as stopping in the middle of all the action...

I hate retainers. I mean, yeah I guess it's much less noticeable than braces and stuff and at least it means I'm on the home stretch but wearing them 24/7 for a whole month stinks!

SNOW. =D It's awesome. And since there's no whipping biting winds during snow (unless it's a blizzard of course), it's a very pleasant kind of cold out.

So me an my family and a friend's family went yesterday to Rockefeller Center and watched the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. =D

Snake.
Some random space shooter thing.
All programmed in Pascal, so they're just functional, pretty much. Rather basic, once you get the logic of the way those programs work. Bullets were tricky, as were monsters... but I figured it out.
Snake was loads of fun to write and test Once I figured it out it was easy, and I just had to tweak it. Shooter is kinda lameish, longer than snake actually, but mostly because snake was written later. Just practice, of course.

I got a book on Photoshop/web design and a really fascinating one with pages that demonstrate the design process for various logos, which is awesome. And also some graphic novel of Jason and the Argonauts just because it was cheap and when I saw it I was like "what they made a COMIC BOOK out of this?"
And a great book full of animal photos. PHOTOREFERENCE! The one with the caimans facing off
Somebody on our bus smokes. It's the most annoying thing. Well, for starters, it's ILLEGAL, and it's just... ugh.
I mean, it's disgusting. EVERYONE on the bus smells it, and it's obvious, and... geez...
I'm one of those people who's absurdly paranoid about secondhand smoke, too. I hold my breath when I walk past people smoking outside stores. And it really sucks when it's freezing outside but we have to open all the windows on the bus to vent out the smoke.
I just hate people like that.
Wow it's been ages since I've had time to put up a blog.
Halloween was great. Unfortunately I found out ex post facto that I was using the facepaints wrong, so my skull wasn't nearly as convincing as it could have been... Plus my nose kept itching, and every time I scratched, no matter how careful I tried to be, a little bit of paint would come off.

With a bit of practice you get used to it, actually. S's are tricky, as are the b-d and q-p things... and I sometimes leave out letters (like the K in backwards, for some reason).
It's fun. I'm trying to work out a good font that makes it not obvious right away that it's just normal writing, backwards... it's very hard, really. People just recognize some of those letters righ

Aw man, I just finished it, after borrowing it on Monday... and it was really good. I kinda do wish he'd developed the ending more, because you know, you grow to love those characters, but I suppose a happy future was implied and the rest is best left up to the imagination. The sort-of-epilogue was nice, I liked it.
