In a few minutes I will be following a lead that says Columbia's Lerner bookstore is having a Harry Potter party, and since it's official, RA's will be there, which means we're allowed to be out past curfew. It's not curfew yet, so if it turns out that there isn't actually a party there, I can still come back.

So I'm in this very long e-mail conversation with a friend who's in a different summer program, and taking a Java programming course which as it turns out she doesn't really like. In the most recent e-mail she complained that it was getting to her head (having used "==" to equate two things), among other things.
Therefore, with a decent amount of knowledge myself, concerning Java (my dad taught me, if you don't remember) I typed my entire response in code.

Mudd (the building in which the Gateway Computer lab is in [YES IT'S NAMED "Mudd" get over it >>]) has automatic sliding doors, but the "automatic' turns off at night and on weekends... and my ID isn't programmed into that particular door (it's programed into Gateway's door, but it's useless if I can't get into the building to get into the lab). I cannot believe I just paid 30 bucks for a meal... that's enough money to last me an entire weekend, and Friday!
I was with a group of course (on my own, d'you think I'd spend more than five bucks on a meal? ) and it was a nice place, and the food was really great... Still, y'know... 30 bucks...

So I figured out, in a general sense, raytracing... and I learned it all by myself except for the parts I didn't know! Haha naw I hadta get one of the TAs to show me, but I think I have it down now. So the car is shiny.

Back home a squirrel will run up a tree if you get within ten feet of it.
Today I QUITE LITERALLY fed a squirrel, OUT OF MY HAND. I mean, that crazy squirrel was bolder than the pigeons! I had to hold really still to get the pigeons to come close. But when the squirrel saw the peanut, it GRABBED IT OUT OF MY HAND. After it finished it was scratching at my leg for more!
I mean, it was behaving like a dog! o_O It looked like it was on its hind legs and "begging."

Well I still dunno if it was a drill or what, when I asked a firefighter he said it was a "false alarm," but of all days it HAD to happen on the day there was a STORM. Ugh...
Luckily it wasn't coming down really hard when we got out but it was still definitely raining and not small enough to be considered drizzle yet. So I watched 1408 and it scared the living daylights out of me, then cast a revive spell and scared them out again.

I spent essentially from after dinner (7:15) to now (about 9, who knows when I'll finish typing this) walking the streets of New York.
Not any kind of complicated route (I'd get lost) but you really can just feel the flavor of the city... I spent some time sketching people who were playing basketball and soccer, and on the ones with a bit more detail to them... well, you just feel the attitude of New York. It's all so diverse. Well, I just got settled in my dorm at Columbia University for the summer program, and my parents and sister just left.
I'm on my dad's laptop, and there is a wireless internet connection, not that strong though, and it's kinda slow, and the screen is miniscule compared to my huge freakin' LCD that I"m used to, and the keyboard is awkward...

When my parents and sister left, I bent down and gave my sister a hug... and, well, after a few seconds I realized she wasn't letting
