Number 13

Dear Readers, Here we are at the thirteenth art contest, which is undeniably the most unfortunate art contest so far. To celebrate, Lyichir and I are preparing a special, Mahri-Nui themed artwork. Be prepared.   While you wait, be sure to check out my far less threatening Lemon Club Challenge entry.   With all due respect, Aanchir: Rachira of Time

Maj Down Too?

Right as I was preparing to "pimp my blog," I discovered something terrible. All of my folders on Maj... were empty. The other folders were like this as well. I reported it to the news, making no assumptions in case it was merely a fluke, but after returning to Maj I found not the returned folder content, but rather a worse situation: The folders themselves were gone as well!!! If this proves to be a fluke, I will be happy, but as it is I think we ought to brace ourselves for the worst.   EDIT:

Ac18 Updates

Hi everyone! Don't worry, I haven't given up on my AC18 entry. Since I last blogged about it, I scanned my drawing and put in a lot of work separating the parts of it into different layers, before realizing that it would be easier to just print off some copies of it and color it using non-digital media.   So I have my first colored draft mostlyt finalized now. It uses colored pencil and thus gets a lot more detail than I would have had time to do digitally. However, I am going to print off a cou

Art Contest 18

Who else is planning to enter? So far there haven't been any entries, but I'm sure some of the more talented artists here already have entries in the works and are simply devoting more time and attention to them than I have.   I finished drawing my entry this morning, but I may add more detail. Right now it has very little shading, but I'm hesitant to shade much more than the background details, and I'm certainly not planning on inking this one. It looks very nice right now in graphite, and whil

BIONICLE MOCs

A topic about Matoran forms in S&T inspired me to try making some Matoran on LDD.   Then I remembered that the most consistent post-2003 Matoran forms (i.e. the ones I tend to consider standard or near-standard in my headcanon) have extremely restrictive proportions. Very unrealistic, though in an almost comical way.   Then I decided I'd try making some Toa. But Toa don't even get the "comical" excuse. Any post-2004 Toa proportions tend to be quite unrealistic.   It's funny; I always quite l

BIONICLE

Not going to go into details, but I am convinced by the leaked images that have been seen. They are consistent with a lot of the hints we've heard, and the person who originally photographed and posted these images seems trustworthy. Furthermore, they seem consistent with BIONICLE on a thematic level: masked heroes with fantasy weapons versus beastly-looking villains.   If it turns out they are fake and I have been tricked, I will not be the least bit ashamed, by this because these are the most

In With The New

Took me a while to come up with a title I liked. Not totally sure how long this one will last. It's from a poem I wrote; not sure if I ever posted it on BZPower. I should check sometime soon.   Anyway, so the big news for me is that I am now staff on HEROsector01. I'm very honored to have this position; I hope my work on the site from here on out meets expectations.   Other big news is that a bunch of non-preliminary images of 2012 LEGO sets have started appearing. Sweet. I can't find any sites

A Little Side Project

Not sure how far I'm gonna go with this, but several pieces are going fairly well as of right now, so don't be caught off guard.

Bbc #45: What Luck! Wildcard!

Sounds like a badly translated Anime episode title, doesn't it? Anyway, it seems that, while in the preliminary polls I was behind by three votes, I was nevertheless chosen as the wildcard entry for this contest! While the competition is fierce (I'm against Arpy's entry, as well as two entries which though I dislike them are nevertheless aesthetically appealing to many voters), who knows? With the good response I got in the prelims, I may have a chance at this!   So, what are you waiting for?

New MOC!

Hey y'all, sorry I've been pretty quiet lately. I've been working at the Hasbro photo studio in Pawtucket for the past three months, which has been amazingly fun, but has also slightly limited my ability to gush about what toys I'm excited for. My internship ends this Friday, so hopefully after that I'll be able to get back in the swing of things!   What my internship hasn't limited, surprisingly, is the creative energy to keep building in my free time. In fact, during the month of July I create

Sunday February 12, 2012

This arrived in the mail today. I will be representing BIONICLEsector01 and its sister site HEROsector01, to which I will be reporting.   I tried to see if I could obtain admission to the main ToyFair rather than just the LEGO Collectors Preview, but I don't have near enough press credentials. I suppose all those bronies BZPers out there will have to find other sources for their non-LEGO toy news.   —

I dunno, it seems that working for V.F.D. is a bit of a gloomy pasttime. This blog is hereby dedicated to all the unicorns and fuzzy animals that everyone loves.   With fun and peanuts, Aanchir: Rachira of FUN!

Bbc Voting!

Vote Entry 4: Tufi Piyufi (with a twist!) in Preliminary Poll Ross 154!   ...   Really funny naming system they've got for the polls, using star names. I don't see why we couldn't stick with letters; they were much simpler to remember. Now it'll take forever to vote in all the polls, since I won't even know which I've voted in.   When you get a chance, also check out the topic for my entry and tell me what you think!   May the best entry win!   With all due respect, Aanchir: Rachira of

Some thoughts on the TTV Podcast

Let me make this clear: I do not hate TTV. I do not enjoy the TTV podcast (mostly just personal preference — I do not enjoy getting my news in video form when given the choice), but I respect them for what they do — and I reserve the right to be disappointed when they do it badly.  If a BZPower set review made similar mistakes, praising or criticizing features that do not exist when the set is built correctly, then I would want them to be held accountable as well. In fact, I have vocally critici

Glatorian Legends

I has them.   Or rather, we has them. My two brothers & I. I'm thoroughly impressed with all of them, although I will not deny that there are minor flaws in some of them. I'll probably end up writing reviews, which given my laziness will probably be pictureless. But oh well.

Art Contest!

Because I don't want to be the only competitor.   I find it confusing that an entry can get over twice as many comments as most of mine and still not get the entries it requests. C'mon, guys. It's a great contest, and you've had plenty of time to recover from AC#14 and S&TC#3.   On another, more selfish note, please tell me what you think of my entry in this topic.   Thanks for lending me your attention. Mind the step on the way out.   ...   What can I say? It's a spur-of-the-moment en

Much Awesome To Be Had

Today's awesome is brought to you by: ...or something to that effect.   Anywho, today I got a chance to take a closer look at some Binkmeister Brickmaster scans we internet folks were offered. Spoilers are to follow, so I'll tag the following for your convenience:   » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «Mmm, I love the smell of convenience in the morning.  Anyway, the scans (which you've probably seen if you're bothering to read inside these spoiler tags) included an image of

The Horrible Halloween

Dear Readers, Seeing as its been 11 days since that special day we call Halloween, it's high time I give my unfortunate readers an update on the Halloween festivities.   My family's celebrations were premature, a word which here means "occurring earlier than is normal for such occasions." We went to a Halloween party at a friend's house on the 29th, and to celebrate the release of Book the 13th, Lyichir and I dressed up as two prominent characters from the novel, Olaf and Ishmael. You would pr

Art Updates - Flash Fire Contest and Other Drawings

I've been quite productive artistically in recent weeks. I mentioned in a previous entry a drawing based on Neil Gaiman's The Sandman. I haven't colored that yet, but I decided I might as well share the lineart online. Some people might be tired of ponies, but I find them a great source of inspiration, not to mention really fun to draw!   Additionally, I've posted my entry for BZPower's Flash Fire Character Design Contest. I've been working on coloring this drawing for a while, and finally finis

Endless Night

It took a while to figure out, but I finally found a way to give my readers on BZPower access to a sample of Endless Night, the song featured in my SSC3 entry. Copy and paste the following URL into your address bar and it should open it up in Windows Media Player or a similar program. Sorry I can't provide a direct link, but the brackets in the URL prohibit me from doing that. I can't link to the source either, because it has forums. http://lebom.com/audio/The%20Lion%20King%20[Original%20Broad

Summer Set Thoughts, Part 2

First, if you haven't checked out Part 1, go ahead and do that. I'd love to hear where my first thoughts agree with or differ with your own.   Bara Magna Vehicles  The vehicle sets for 2009 prove impressively unique. Some of them have flaws, but all are nevertheless amazingly creative. This year's vehicles vary from most we encountered last year in that these tend to be land vehicles. As such, there are plenty of treads and wheels to go around. Overall there are some flaws, but the sets are n

Cotpc #1: Show Your Support!

Dear Reader,   I would like to begin by saying that I would love the readers of this blog to show their support for my entry, entry 3 in Poll F, titled "To Cerule".   However, I find that so far the poetry contest voting has gotten little attention. Not a single entry at the time of my voting had even ten votes! At such a state, even the slightest vote cast for reasons of bias could upset the fairness of the competition, and I do not wish for a winner (even myself) to be decided due to campaig

Paul The Bunyan <--wat?

Tubular Bells will have to wait. I can't put this entry off one second.   I just was goofing off one day when I did this. You'll probably have to expand the image to read it.   And no, I wasn't trying to type "Paul Bunyan." Paul the Bunyan is some random drawing someone drew in my Technical Theatre class for use in a skeleton set. They're a good artist, but this drawing certainly didn't show it. But forgive me; I'm getting off-topic.   I might someday create the page, just because it says I c
