Game Idea: Need Artists

I mentioned this idea to Kakaru when I met up with him last week, and he mentioned I should make a topic, but I'll do a blog post instead.   So I have this idea for a Flash game. Nothing nearly as complicated as MNOLG; basically a "find a hidden object in a picture" thing, Bionicle themed. I've been practising on writing code for such a game, and I'm pretty sure I could get this completed with ease. But... well, first, I need material. I can animate and code, but I can't draw, and I especi

Leaving Dallas

Hey, an update from me, yayz!   So this past weekend I got to meet Toaraga in person. (Turns out there are other BZPers in Dallas!) He was a pretty cool guy, and it was fun chatting with him. Toaraga, you need to come to a convention sometime.   I also visited the Dallas Lego Store one last time, and bought a handful of Series 10 figs. There were a lot of people in there looking for the gold fig, and apparently at least 5 of the goldies have been found in that store. (By customers) But th

End of an Internship

Man, I had an awesome time at my internship in Dallas, TX, but sadly it is over. Now I most likely have two weeks of downtime before I drive back to the Pacific Northwest, unless I can get a job with them before I leave. (Seriously, as interesting as Texas is, I do kind of want to bail before the HOT weather shows up. It's already been a little too hot for me and the locals are calling it mild spring weather! Well, at least I can drive in the rain compared to most of em!)   But yeah, for the

Colorado Trip

So this weekend I went on a road trip to Colorado with my roommate and two other interns from work. This was kind of important to me because I haven't visited Colorado since I moved away in 2001, and I missed the place and really wanted to return to visit it's beauty. (Yeah, yeah, sappy whatev, but seriously it's the one place I'm nostalgic for.)   So on Saturday, we flew into Denver in the morning, rented a car, and drove down to Colorado Springs and toured around the Garden of the Gods. The

100% Complete

So today I went to the Lego store in Dallas to take advantage of the double VIP points. I also went with two fellow interns to show them the wonderful world of Lego. (See, Elly and Erin, I do blog, and yes, it is mostly about Lego!)   Anyway, I got two collections completed.   After a slow start, I did manage to collect all 16 Series 9 figs. The last two were the Waiter and Caesar. I would like to do another front page review of how to find them, ext, but I am so late on these that it isn't

Black Female Fig Head

So since Lego has started making realistic skin tone heads, we've started wanting more shades. Characters from Indiana Jones and Super Heroes got these cool shades of black or dark flesh, but they were all male. Why couldn't we have a larger palette of female heads? After all, there are so many characters that could be made (Zoe from Firefly, Leena from WH13, Cassie from Animorphs... some examples I've been wanting anyway.) Now there have been some female heads in light flesh, but when would

Flying To Cascade

Maybe. I leave tomorrow night right after work. I have three flights to get from DAL to PDX, and since I'm flying non rev, there's a chance that I could get pulled from any one of them. BUT I'M GOING TO TRY AND MAKE IT AND BRING MY MINIFIG TOA WITH ME. Hope to see a bunch of cool cats when I get in. (See, we got new kitties just before I left... oh, and I guess I'll meet some BZPers there too.)   I'll update entry if/when I get stuck in Albuquerque or Oakland or the Mohave Desert or Moria..

Next Word Game Challenge

Name a character whose name doesn't have vowels (A, E, I, O, U) or the letters T, N, S, H, R. The letter Y can be in the name, but it cannot be the second letter or the last letter.   The character doesn't necessarily have to be Bionicle.   Go!

A Day of Cascade

So I registered for Bricks Cascade. Only instead of going for the full convention, I'm only going to make it on Saturday. All day Saturday, so any cool stuff going on I can be a part of... but nothing Friday or Sunday.   See, even though I've lived near Portland for years, I'm currently working in Dallas. So my plans are to fly to Portland Friday night, hang out on Saturday, and head back Sunday morning and be ready for work the following Monday.   I'm lucky in one aspect that I can fly non-r

My Weekend Plans

Hey guys, guess what!!     Yes, that is an official Toy Fair pass to the Lego 2013 set previews. I was officially signed up to attend as part of the press, and Andrew and I were going to photograph the ball joints off those new Hero Factory characters!   AND THEN GUESS WHAT!   Mother Nature hates me. The big storm already has my flight canceled. And since I'm flying for free as an intern, they have no real interest to book me on a new flight and get me there on time, when there are so many payi

Rage

I want to kill something... specifically these germs and bacteria that are giving me a sore throat STILL and/or ear infection. COME ON IMMUNE SYSTEM IS THAT THE BEST YOU CAN DO FOR ME??   (Okay maybe not the most tasteful blog entry ever but seriously...)   Also, I was gonna complain that Rene started texting me at 1 AM but he was ignoring the time difference and I was trying to sleep... but really it's a good assumption that I'd be awake at 1 AM so I can't really find fault with him. Oh well.

Ten Years

Oh yeah, I missed it but last week I got my ten year spinny. I've stuck around here for ten years. Crazy.   In other news, I may have the flu. Or maybe just a cold. Or maybe some sort of exotic cancer... Yay researching symptoms on the internet. Either way, it comed with a sore throat that still hasn't gone away. :-(

Sore Throat

And that was just the beginning of it.   Anyway, not a good day. To sum it up, I'm an ill, financially poor, antisocial loser.   Yes I'm being negative again.

I Should Probably Go To Sleep Now

But I have Internet access again! Yay, so excited!   I need to do a big write up on my trip down and my experiences here and stuff, with pictures and everything. But just haven't had the time! Okay, so I did blow an hour catching up on some shows when I came home to Internet... but I could be doing that for hours, so I'm just impressed that I've limited myself!   Next big step: buying some furniture.   Also, I watched Legend of Chima tonight.

Most Important Place in Dallas

Still no internet, but I had to let you know that I just visited the most anticipated hot spot in Dallas, TX.   I went to the local Lego store.   Okay, there wasn't anything too fancy, but it was my first chance to see some of the new sets and such. Chima looks great, and I got to practice feeling for the series 9 figs. I came out with a street police officer and a forest maiden, and also a Ninjago Warrior Bike. (Rileys, I still owe you two sets so ya gotta tell me what you want!)   Work is coo

Good News / Bad News

Good News: I survived my roadtrip and made it to Dallas.   Bad News: My laptop seems to be dying and I can't get on the the Internet with it. So expect me to be even less active than usual.

My Thoughts on 2012

Normally, around this time of year, I would write a blog entry summarizing all my shortcomings from this year and how I was going to change next year. Only this time, I don't feel horrible depressed or anything so I got nothing much to add. (That, and just in case the world ended last week, I only planned for 3 months into 2013. Drat, now I gotta think about stuff even further down the road... like 4 month from now, or even 5 months!)   So, um, I'm excited to start an internship and move to D

What I Got

Mostly cheap dishes. See, I went and got some moderate quality stuff a couple of years ago when I was living in the dorms, but I didn't need to use it when I moved home. As such, my sister took all of it, and she isn't giving it back. Which is fine, and I said that I would just go to the store and buy some cheap stuff when I move to Dallas. This way, I can choose my own styles and I won't have to transport it. But nope, instead my sister went and bought a bunch of cheap stuff on her own, cl

Guess What Tomorrow Is?

That's right, it's Tuesday!!   In related news, I guess that Le Miz movie comes out. Since when did Le Miz have such a rabid following on BZP? I'm not saying I don't like it (seriously, great play) but I don't get the obsession over it sometimes. But I can say the same thing about the ponies, and Dr. Who. Oh, and that one Lego theme Bionicle, man that attracted the craziest fans.   Also, apparently I won a contest when I was in the hospital. The Ninjago story contest. It's not the first tim

Recovery Week

I had so many plans for what I was going to do over winter break. I could work on one of my many stories. I could do this art / animation idea I've had, or even try and make it a flash game like the MNOLG. I could finish organizing my Lego collection. And I was planning to watch a whole bunch of movies too! (And also, pack and prepare for my internship in Dallas.)   But it turns out recovering from a surgery has left me unmotivated, and I haven't taken advantage of my free time at all. Mos

Surgery

So I'm going into Surgery today. (Or rather, tomorrow since I'm writing this from yesterday thanks to the amazing blog time machine!) I'll probably be out for a few days or so, and when I come back I might be on so many painkillers that you won't be able to tell my crazy ramblings from my normal ones!   Back-story: I've probably mentioned this before in this blog, cause I love complaining, but I have pretty bad acid reflux. I had the doctors stick a camera or something down my throat this sum

Emotional

What is it with some of these Anime? 12 episodes and I get emotionally attached to the characters and moved by the finale. Doesn't happen a lot for other shows I watch. Maybe it's cause I'm watching entire seasons back to back instead of drawn out... but still.   And by "moved" I mean slightly choked up but not bawling or anything. And this doesn't apply to everything.   It has made me think of some of my own writing experience. Honestly, there is only one time I ever got choked up over m
