Job Conflicts

So I got an interview for a position at a new movie theater they're opening next month, which could offer a nice summer job. (Yes, Ben, I totally stole the idea from you. ) They had this big thing where we could go meet with somebody there and fill out applications and such. But there was one conflict.   Their training sessions for the jobs is the same week as Bricks Cascade. >.<   It's a bummer, but hopefully I can work around it. At the very least, I can ditch the convention mid-d

Marvel-Ous Weekend

I watched an episode of Grimm and Avatar this weekend. The season finale of Grimm was pretty good, except it ended with quite a few unresolved issues. Luckily there's an assured season two... but that means I have to wait until then to see what happens. D: (Avatar was good too.)   But I also caught up on the latest Marvel cartoons by watching The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes and Ultimate Spider-Man. Both decent shows. It's really my first move into the whole Avengers thing outside of

Job Hunt Disappointments

Man, today has not been my best day. So I'm gonna gripe in my blog.   First off, I've been applying to some local stores, including Lowes, since I need a summer job. Lowes has seasonal positions, and I've applied for a dozen in the last couple of weeks, including like 4 this weekend. Monday morning (1 AM) I get four emails that all say "You aren't accepted." Then my sister comes home from school, applies for one position online Sunday night, and BOOM she has an interview the next day. What

Collectible Minifigs Series 7

Click for Talkback topic.   Well, I can tell people actually read the review this time because they keep mentioning that "C:\" is actually a directory code and not an emote. I say it's both, but since I didn't specifically mention it in the review, I keep getting corrections.   But yeah, 16 minifigs reviewed here. Took a while to collect. Took a while to write up each individual review. Took a while to take all the pictures, edit them, and then code them into the review. It's a long one

Aaron Is Awesome

And this is why:     So for our Mata Nui Island Project, people kept complaining that we didn't end up including the Kaukau waterfall. My original idea was to use a Kaukau mask, but that would've been far too large. Next was to use a mini mask from the old Bionicle Pens, but those were hard to get ahold of. (Update tho, Swert did come across a complete collection, so there is a future project coming out of that.) Besides, the pen masks wouldn't have blended in with the landscape as well.

Say no to raptors at Bricks Cascade in Portland, OR.   And bring better xkcd mocs, cause I got nothing new except this.

Building Backwards

Turns out being unemployed (and having school out) offers me a lot of time to build. Yay!   So taking picts of stuff and uploading them tonight. Might post a few here in the blog. Yeah.   But anyway, I have 5 mechas and 3 space ships built, but I made a miscalculation. The Space theme is has an award for best homage to a past theme, and Mecha has an award for best Friend's oriented MOC. But I made two spaceships for Friends characters and one Aquanaut-themed Mecha. I got it backwards! >

Miru And Kakama Rahi

So summer break has officially begun for me, and since my job from last year fell through, I'm unemployed. But that has given me time to finish taking pictures of my Thirty-Six Masks Project Rahi and uploading them.   So right now I have two BBC topics: One for the Mriu Rahi and one for the Kakama Rahi. I still have three mask sets left to post, but I have a month left before Bricks Cascade, so I'll hold off posting them all right now.   Miru Rahi Topic Kakama Rahi Topic   Also, bonus material

Aw Man

Lego Cuusoo killed the Serenity Project before it even got to the review stage.   I still feel this partially has to do with all the older AFOLs frowning upon the idea of licenced themes. Or more specifically, they're jealousy that licenced themes have achieved support so much faster than their favorite entries. Like seriously, the amount of hate I was reading was staggering.   Granted, Serenity did have it shortcomings, in that it did have more adult themes than most traditional Lego licenc

Obligatory Avengers Entry

So saw the Avengers tonight. I agree, it was totally awesome! (Granted, 3D didn't seem worth it, but 3D never is.) I gotta say, there were some twists and turns in here that I wasn't quite expecting, and some good bits of comedy. And while all the characters got decent screentime, I do have to say that I liked Iron Man the most.   Anyway, for some spoilers, and I really mean it this time, I'm going to spoil the movie, so if you haven't seen it don't open this, and if you have and you respo

Why Bzpers Loves Lego Friends Figs

(Click For Link)   Yay, another Lego Friends Review. I actually got this set and took pictures of it in January, but then I heard DeeVee was gonna write a review so I put it off so he could get his say in first. (Also, because I didn't want to point out the exact same things. Now I know that a few of my observations are somewhat original as far as BZP reviews go.) Last month, I got around to finally writing this review, and now I've posted it. Yayz.   As for why BZPers should love the new F

Lego In The Community

I can embed Vimeo in the blogs, right? Oh well, doing so anyway.   So as I've blogged about constantly this last month, I've been working on a Lego movie for my Video Journalism class. I finally have a polished version (or as polished as it's going to get for now) so I thought I might as well share it on the place where I interact most with the Lego community: AKA BZPower. So, without further ado...     Keep in mind this is for a general audience, so I had to introduce the basic concepts

They're Back?

Coolio!   First member post that popped up after the forums came back was in the RPG forum. Funny. I bet they were refreshing like crazy down there.   Anyway, been a crazy weekend with finals and whatnot. So the school year is over. Yay. Sadly, no job, and the job hunt so far isn't looking too great. Meh. But Bricks Cascade in a month, so that's enough to get excited about!

Finalizing Video

So I got the interviews (both from in-person meetings and BZPers who sent stuff online) and I got everything ordered out. Now I'm just working to perfect the flow and everything. I'm needing lots of visual material, so I'm pulling a lot from my own personal videos. So if I snapped a picture of you at either BrickFair or BrickCon last year, you might make a cameo! (Also, it's funny that I keep referring to AFOLs and then showing BZPower members, since in some ways we're a completely different

Job Losses

So I've spent my night updating my job profile. Guess it's back to searching for summer employment again. >.<   On one hand, this might mean I'll have no conflicts for Bricks Cascade. On the other, it'll mean I can't buy anyway there.

Mini Fig Stands

I think I've blogged about this before... even posted a picture. But anyway, updates.   So yeah I built a couple of minifig stands for display purposes. But instead of lengthy descriptions, I'll let the images show off most of them.     I redid all of the layers and did a better job color-coordinating them and spacing out the standing areas for the figs. I arranged it so I can squeeze 11 figs on each layer, with 5 distinct layers. The top one is still a little bare to allow for future figs.

Another Pottermore Entry

Everybody seems to be signing up for this lately. So I joined. Because, believe it or not, I'm a Harry Potter fan myself, and have reread the books more times than I would like to count. (Fav is still the 3rd one.)   Anyway, I have a black cat as a pet, a 12.5 in dragon-core hornbeam rigid want. I'm in Gryffindor, despite me thinking my answers would lead me to Ravenclaw. And my user name is FangFeather22174 because of course they had to select the name and add a bunch of numbers to it.   O

All 72

I guess this warrants blogging about. At least on a Bionicle based website.   I got my last standard-colored Noble Mask in the other dark. Light Grey Komau. (Funny, I tried to paint one of my extra tan Komaus light grey back in the day. Hint, it didn't go over well.)   So yeah, I guess this officially means that I have all 72 masks that I was supposed to collect back in 01. Took me long enough.   (And that doesn't even count collecting misprints, rares, set masks, or even Kanohi from other

Message From Bricks Cascade Organizer

Yesterday I met up with one of the men helping set up the Bricks Cascade convention in Portland, OR this June. He did an interview for my movie project, which I am grateful for. But he has a message he wanted to pass on to all of you.   Come to Bricks Cascade!!   It's going to be an awesome convention with awesome people from Oregon and Washington and beyond. So if you live in the area, come to it! If you don't live in the area, fly over and come to it.   Also I guess there'll be a few pop

New In The Talkback Topic

So my last review didn't go over very well because of the database issue on the front page. Bummer.   But with a little bit of code tweaking, I switched it from HTML to BB and now it's good to get posted in the forums!   As such, you can view the full review in the Talkback Topic. And seriously, I described what I liked and didn't like about it there... if there's gonna be argument over how good it is, I should at least be able to get my say in.   (Granted, it's the only Serpentine vehicle t

Series 7

Yay, Series 7 figs are availible in Fred Meyers! So I I swung by and grabbed some. I used a 10% off coupon, but it still turned out to be kinda pricey to buy eleven... and I'm still aiming to get at least five more. There were four boxes on display, but they were already fairly picked through.   Anyway, I got the Rocker Girl, the Bride, the Viking Woman, the Jungle Boy, the Aztec Warrior, the DareDevil, the Bagpiper, the Ocean King, the Grandma Visitor, the Swimming Champion, and the Evil K

Review: Rattlecopter

(Click for link) Actually don't because it's broken right now.   Anyway, cool Ninjago set! It's a snake helicopter that looks like a fish! Awesome designs. And I even took lots of pictures! You'll see them when the database gets fixed, I'm sure of it!

Ninjago Season 2

So I've finally caught up on Ninjago Season 2 with the snakes and everything. Okay, so I was a little iffy after the first season, which was kind of Kia-centric. But this second season has had character development all around. And some of the action scenes in the last two episodes were really great. Thus I must admit that I am now a big fan of the series.   Worst of all, this is tempting me to want to buy more sets, especially ones that contain cool minifigs. Last year, I managed to get all

Lotr Figs

GOTCHA!   Nope, these aren't official figs. But I got Nuju Metru to donate some of his time to create a few of his custom characters from his LotR sets that will be given away as prizes to the top three Short Story Contest 9 winners. (And by donate, I mean Nuju came up with the designs and added the decals. I provided all of the pieces... except for one head, which Nuju did end up swapping out.)     So here they are in their full glory! GSR gets Sam, Kagha gets Frodo, and Eyru gets Aragorn.

No Seriously I'm Going To Do That

Yesterday I wrote a big list of projects that need to be done soon.   And after lots of planning, arguments, and other junk, I've been able to cross off...   One item.   >.<   Not quite in panic mode but I'm about ready for summer vacaction to just show up... except then I have to work.
