Bolin

So after seeing the Korra finale, I decided to change my avatar (haha, an avatar of an Avatar show character!) and sig to represent one of my favorite characters: Bolin. Sure, he's not as good as Sokka, but he's still awesome. (I was tempted to also represent Asami, but I really liked my banner image, and I wanted to be consistent.)   Picts / cropped screenshots that I'm using, just because you don't auto-see them in my blog.

Spell Check Is Back!

My Google Toolbar (on IE) spellcheck option is finally working on BZP again. This last month, I've been getting an error every time it tries to check spelling on the forum. I'm not sure what the issue was, since it worked elsewhere on IE, and auto spelling didn't work on FireFox on BZP either. (But it did on Chrome... but I don't really use Chrome too much.)   Basically, for the last month I've been flying blind on BZP. AKA I've just been typing and spelling to my best ability, and when I ty

More Korra

Okay, saw it. I thought it was good. Gave most of the characters plenty of room to shine, and had a few twists in there. Yeah, the last five minutes weren't the best, but I don't think they were as bad as people keep saying.         Wait wait wait... it's over. Second season isn't coming next week? Now what will I have to watch online?

Stuff The Week

Well, first, since employment decided to pass me up this summer, I'm being forced to do yard work and getting yelled at that I'm not doing enough. Fun stuff. I either work until heat exhaustion or in the pouring rain. Summer weather, make up your mind!   (On the other hand, it looks like I got turned down for a techy job purely because I have to go back to school so I couldn't work full time... but I guess I met the other qualifications? Yay, hollow victory.)   Lessee... also sending in pape

Losing

It stings more when you think you had a chance.   But, yeah, BBC Contest Polls. I'm in this one. Vote for me... or y'know, one of the decent MOCs. (I'm not even going to bother linking to the single Flash Fiction poll I made it into because I'm not doing well in it anyway and besides it wasn't even that great a story to begin with.   But yeah, my dragon moc is in 4th place, with some actual votes to it besides my own! Woot! It's too far gone to really advance unless they take half the ent

Review: Lasha's Bite Cycle

(Click For Link)   Yay, another Ninjago Review! Last one from me (for this year at least.) Unless somebody wants to send me the Ultimate 4-Headed Dragon Battle set to review (and keep.) That is such an epic set and I want it but I don't really have money and if I do buy a large set this year it's going to be Helms Deep.   Also, with this set I now have Cole ZX, which means that I have a complete set of Ninja. (Well, missing the green one, if you count him, but I'll grab his spinner pack when

Orange

I've been so focused on how I don't have enough Lego elements in the colors green or purple that I've completely neglected orange. (Red / blue / yellow / white / black are all fine.)   This comes after thinking up a project that would use all the colors of the rainbow. I think I can pull off a section in purple and green... but then I came to realize that I was rather low on orange, and if I pursue this, I will have to invest in stocking up on bricks in that color.   Also still unemployed. Do

I Got Accepted!

Well, not really accepted, but more like I’m qualified for it.   No, not a job. A surgery.   See, I had this acid reflux problem, and they stuck a tube down my throat and left it there for 24 hours to see just how bad it was. Turns out, it was very bad. (Either that, or I accidentally drank battery acid last night…) So, yay, I qualify for a surgery. Maybe.   In other news… I moved my Lego collection into our unfinished basement tonight. That means more room to spread out down there, and pl

Review: Loki's Cosmic Cube Escape

(Click for Link)   So... I have a couple of sets to review after my spending spree at Bricks Cascade, and here's the first. This has pretty much been the one Avengers set I just had to have, and it turns out the truck is just as cool or cooler than the figs! And you can read all about it on the front page... or rather, just briefly scroll through all the picts.

Fixes To The Mata Nui Island Model

So last weekend, we finally got to show our giant Mata Nui Island Model off at Bricks Cascade. In general, we recieved some nice comments about it. Well, except from the BZPower Staff, where the general consesus was that they felt sick every time they saw the island. (Does that count as constructive critisism?) And, as I kind of expected, it didn't win any awards. But it was there, people got to see it, and overall I'm glad I got to show it off.   But there were a few things to fix. Porp

Bricks Cascade: The Big Post

Wow, like, seriously, I was going to do a day-by-day post, but things just happened so quickly that I hardly had time to just glance through my email, much less post a full blog entry! It was fun and awesome and I hope we can do it again.   I had a great group of people who stayed at my place. It was hectic scheduling all their arrivals / departures and everything (not to mention the process of threatening asking them to show up in the first place.) Steven (Swert) came down from Tacoma with o

Longer Entry To Come

Well, Bricks Cascade is officially over. All the BZPers have left, and it's kinda sad too, since I won't be seeing all these cool people for a long time. (Especially since I'm unsure about BrickCon, since my parents made a big deal about how much I spent here and I still don't have a paying job.) On the other hand, there's still more to do, like cleaning up (so many plastic bags and Lego boxes laying around!!) posting pictures (I must have over 300) working on reviews (the footage from the vi

Now I See Bees I Won

Palendrone from weird al's song Bob.   But anyway, I did surprisingly well at Bricks Cascade. Like, OMG-this-can't-be-right-well. I've only won a few trophies in previous conventions, and none of them were ever that spectacular. This time, I won four!   Bionicle: Best Toa "Moderator" for my Toa Pohatu. This was really cool, cause I worked really hard on Pohatu and I loved the way he turned out. Also, Pat's trophy for this one is completely epic! (We'll reveal other Bionicle winners soon

Cascade Day 1

Day 0: I picked up Swert and the Island.   Day 1: Kakaru and his brother Russell arrived in the morning. Some goofing off took place, so we didn't get to the convention super early, but we were the first Bionicle group there. Got the Mata Nui Island model set up. It's not perfect; besides the flaws I've already pointed out (one word: porportions) but Steven also wasn't able to bring down all the plant elements, so the forest isn't as wide-spread as it was last time. But we have masks for t

To Bs01 Staff

I have kidnapped your precious Swert. If you ever want to see your web-site owner again, please send a payment of $150 to Xccj at Bricks Cascade. (Okay, it may be a bit much, so I'm willing to haggle.)   You have until Saturday at public hours to pay, or else I feed him to the Bionicle-hating AFOLs.

No Editable Form Fields On Page

Meh.   So I'm going to admit that I'm not the greatest speller. I don't rely exclusively on spell check, but I always run it just as a quick double check on my posts. Unlike some people, I never post to MS Word, spell check, and then paste back to BZP; too time consuming, not to mention the issues Word has with pasting text, ext. Way back in the day, BZP used to have a spell check thingy, which was kinda clunky from what I remember. It's long gone, and today's current settings apparently doe

Moc Cards Sent In

Well, you know, digitally added to the site and whatnot.   I'm bringing a ton of stuff to Bricks Cascade next week. (Heck, even though I live in the area, I'll be driving 12+ hours just to make sure the Mata Nui Island model gets there. And with Washington State Gas prices being the 4th highest in the country right now, that's dedication.) I have 4 space ships, 6 mechs, 2 steampunk airships, some xkcd models, and a handful of vignettes (mostly using collectible minifigures). And I also have

Game Plan

Dude, I know what I'll do next weekend!!   I'll pull out my "Bionicle: Quest for the Masks" board game and we can all play as the Toa and fight Nui Rama, Nui Jaga, and Muaka, and then fight Makuta and save the day, while building up the island as we go!

Next Week

I've blogged a lot about Bricks Cascade lately, but now it's time to get down to the important stuff.   *ahem* BRICKS CASCADE IS NEXT WEEK. SOO EXCITED.   I'M GOING TO HAVE THE MATA NUI ISLAND ON DISPLAY. AND OVER 50 RAHI, MATORAN, AND TOA MOCS. AND MECHS AND SPACE SHIPS.   AND THERE'S LIKE A TON OF COOL PEOPLE COMING AND WE'LL ALL GET TO HANG OUT AND IT'S GOING TO BE AWESOME!!!!
