I went to edit one and they all up and disappeared. My blog is sadly uncustomized now. The only thing people can do now is read my entries.

Files Of Faber

Man, he has been posting some really awesome stuff. Like, I know they've been planning the whole "Mata Nui is actually a big robot underneath the island" thing for ages, but the artwork really shows how well they prepared for the concept. Besides, seeing some of the early sketches of the Toa and locations is just really cool, and it's bringing back some of the old 01 feel. Very cool.   I just hope he keeps updating for a while. It's kind of like the Templar site that did postings on the MNOL

Redo

Okay, now I've seen this: picture link   It's an early concept drawing of the island of Mata Nui from Christian Faber's blog. The landscapes are more clearly defined here than in other maps I've seen, including various mountain peaks, ridges in the desert, and the volcano.   Next year we will redo our Mata Nui island model. We will adjust the sizes to make everything more porportionate. And we will base the design off this map. (Heck, maybe even design from the coastline to the interior next

Lego Interview

I reeeeally need to start getting this project together, considering it is my major project for this class.   Anyway, I'm doing a short documentary on a subject of my choice. (Guess the theme.) I've interviewed Dan Parker, but that's just not enough. I've tried to contact people from Bricks Cascade for an interview, but so far no response. (Brick Cascade people seem to all be ignoring my messages... weird.) So maybe another idea; get actual people's perspective on their love of Lego.   So,

APRIL FOOLS!   Don't get it? Check the list of blogs.   Thanks to Chocolate Frogs, Velox, Kakaru, Swert, and Wrinkledlion for helping me put this together.   Screenshot coming soon after, y'know, it happens.   Some other member better not post in the middle of this or else it's gonna ruin the whole thing.   Also blog staff: Aren't you happy you get a preview to my devious plans?   Edit: Screenshot!!     Well, the timing apparently got messed up, since CF's should be last but ends up in the m

Lego Shaun Of The Dead

One of the neat ideas I've supported on Lego Cuusoo was Lego Shaun of the Dead. The model itself is nicely designed, although it is probably out of my price range. All the same, it was the 4th model I supported back when I first signed on to Cuusoo. And it was doing okay, but wasn't one of the top hits or whatever.   Then it got mentioned on Conan's show. And this week votes have been flooding in, and it's raced to the top. (Not as fast as Minecraft, I bet, but pretty darn fast.)   Tonight

Presentation On Brick Cascade

For my video journalism class, I am totally trying to do my final project on Lego. First, I thought a job profile on Dan Parker would be awesome. And it would, but the prof wants me to focus more on a story. Instead I thought maybe Lego in the community, because then I could include Dan Parker and interview some of the people who also use Lego in my general area, including a specialized store and the organizers for Bricks Cascade. After talking more with my prof, I am instead going to focus

So

I was chattin' with Swert.   So   And he was posting stuff that I thought was irrelevant.   So   Then I posted 'so' after his every post.   So   Then I kept doing it.   So   And made sure every other line said 'so.'   So   And I made it work for 23 times.   So   Then Swert ruined it and broke the pattern.   So     So

Rene Drinks The Milkshake

Saw Hunger Games tonight. I've never read the books or paid much attention to the previews; I just knew it was about kids who kill each other.   The beginning was kinda weird, and now I know why people kept commenting on the costumes. The actual fights weren't quite as bloody as I first thought, although the first scene was kinda on the edge. Overall, it was an interesting watch. I wouldn't say 'greatest movie ever' but still work it. And I guess there's gonna be more... because the books a

Hey Check Out That Big, Long M O C Topic!

A Topic for our Mata Nui Island Project MOC.   And while we're at it, here's the Brickshelf, Flickr, and ReBrick (when public) links for the project. Yes, I'm posting it everywhere.   Comments / likes / shares / views on various platforms appreciated.

Mata Nui Island Project: Completed

Seriously, I've been blogging about this for the past week, you should know about it by now.   Anyway, no need to extra jabbering: pictures!             So, if you have any questions, or parts of the island you want to see in more detail, let me know! (I may have picts of it already, and if I don't, then I can send Swert to take more detailed images.)   Big thanks to Dan Parker for letting us use all his bricks and build this.

Mata Nui Island Project: Day 6

Blah blah blah building a Mata Nui Island model, blah blah at City Blocks Lego Art Studio blah blah more blogging.   Day 6       Oh hey, look at this, the island is finished!   We started today off early. I built the Hura Mafu river area, while Swert finally got the desert completed. (He cheated and used an exposed tan baseplate.) Then we added some hills in Ga-Wahi, and covered the jungle with trees. (Or specifically, the spikey flower elements that look good for foliage. Dan had a hug

Mata Nui Island Project: Day 5

Swert and I continue to work on our Mata Nui Island model, built at City Blocks Lego Art Studio in Tacoma. (And by 'Swert and I' I mean me because Swert took most of the day off. Okay, to be fair, he helped Dan with an after school program, and he even shot some footage for me since I couldn't be there... but he didn't contribute a full day to the island today. )   Day 5           Got lots done today. First, what you can't see; Papa Niho Reef got completed behind the mountain, and I also

Mata Nui Island Project: Day 4

Swert and I continue to work on our Mata Nui Island model, built at City Blocks Lego Art Studio in Tacoma. (And I'm getting tired of commuting so far. Luckily I have a wonderful aunt and uncle [who now have a link to this very blog] who have let me stay at their place for the week, so at least I'm not in a hotel / tent / under a freeway overpass / commuting 3 hours from home daily.)   Day 4         So I got the two things I wanted done: I made the Kini Nui area and Ta-Koro. The Kini Nui ar

Mata Nui Island Project: Day 3

Swert and I continue to work on our Mata Nui Island model, built at City Blocks Lego Art Studio in Tacoma. (Oh yes, my blog entries this week are all gonna be related.)   Day 3       The first part of the day involved tracing out the rest of the island in red. In doing this I made a few tweaks. Le-Wahi now seems so much smaller than originally planned... mostly due to the volcano and mountain turning out to be bigger than planned, and thus the jungle gets squeezed down. And for whatever u

Mata Nui Island Project: Day 2

Swert and I continue to work on our Mata Nui Island model, built at City Blocks Lego Art Studio in Tacoma.   Day 2       What we spent the most time on was the mountain and volcano (again.) I managed to add a peak to the mountain in white. While you can't see it from this angle, the Ko-Koro Sanctum is included. Dan, the guy who runs the studio, didn't like the mountain and forced me to revamp it twice, but I think it's finally looking good and natural. Swert finally finished the volcan

Mata Nui Island Project: Day 1

So I'm spending my spring break up in Tacoma at City Blocks, helping build a giant system model of Mata Nui the island. As one of the main designers (I guess Swert can take some credit too) I am trying to remain extremely faithful to the MNOLGs and the famous maps. However, there's a lot of inconsistencies, so some of it will be custom designed based on how I view the geography of the island in my head. Hate or love the idea, we're going to be working on it all week and will be showing it off

Broke

So how does my first day of Spring Break begin?   By me picking up my glass and having them snap in half.   D:   Seriously, I have no idea why they broke, except that I guess they were old. But they weren't under any stress or anything... anyway, I panicked on Saturday because my regular eye glass place would be closed until Tuesday, and I had plans that required me to do a lot of driving, ext, and I wasn't going to do that without glasses. (My vision isn't bad, but it's not good enough that I

Class Example

So in class tonight we discussed the different ways we looked for engagement in social media. My example of insulting Internet browsers actually got showcased. Okay, so it wasn't the most honorable way of getting posts, since I knew it was a topic that would tick most people off and thus entice them to post. But it didn't get too flamy, and people actually had some decent responses to which browsers they prefer, ext. But my professor actually read the comments and mentioned to the class

D T C 375 Class Project

Maybe you've noticed that dtc375 tag in my entries this past week. You see, I have been working on an assignment for one of my digital communication classes. The idea is to get the most interaction (likes, reposts, ext) from a social media site. Since I have a larger audience here (marginally) I decided to make some posts in my blog that were essentially trying to gain a ton of posts. The list so far:   Look at a new MOC (My Sunrise LotR MOC) Ask A Question (How Do You Hang Out At Convention

A Discussion About Lego Friends

For a while I’ve been wanting to make an entry refuting both sides of the LEGO Friends issue, since arguments on both ends could use some tweaking IMO. (And as I wrote this, I realized that I tended to refute one side more than the other… oh well.) Ideally, this entry will open eyes on both sides of the issue and find ways to make compromises. In actuality, I’ll probably end up insulting one or both sides. But I’m trying to present this in a non-aggressive manner, which I think is lacking in

Browsers

FireFox is highly overrated. It's not bad, but people who use it have a superiority complex.   Chrome is Google... you do not use Bing on it.   Safari is Apple and therefore lame.   Internet Explorer is not only the original and most widely used but it works and anyone who says otherwise is in denial and is probably suffering from the superiority complex mentioned above.   Opera is... y'know what, I don't have a good knowledge about this one? I should experience it some more before I really ev

Toured Portland Today

So I had a class field trip to downtown Portland. (For the record, while I've been to Portland I don't go down there all the time like I know some people do... hey, you see how much I blog, where do you think I spend my time??) I was running low on time, so I ended up parking in a lot next to the Oregonian building, where my class was going to tour. (They're a local news-paper, but also have an extensive online news site, and we talked to people about video journalism. It was cool.) Anyway,
