Why would it come back only three years after its cancellation? Lego discontinued it for a reason; It didn't sell well enough. Why bring something back that has a history of financial underperformance?

Besides. It'd have to be a reboot, if anything. You can't pick up where you left off three years later in a story like this if you want kids to buy it.

One and done, really. Though I'd also like to point out that last year I saw 'rumors' the line would be coming back in 2012. Something tells me a year from now I'm going to be seeing 'rumors' it's on its way back in in 2014.

I could see the summer Breakout sets being the last Hero Factory wave (it would seem a bit anticlimactic if they just went back to capturing villains after Breakout), but I'm not sure if that would automatically guarantee the return of BIONICLE. Even if it did return at this point, they would probably simplify it so much that it wouldn't really deserve the BIONICLE brand. My guess is that if it returns in a recognizable form, it'll probably do so in a few more years at the earliest. However, when you remember that we're already just five months away from the three-year anniversary of the announcement, it hopefully won't feel like too too long of a wait.

To answer your question, though, I don't have any solid proof that it's not going to return (which I sure hope that it does). I think that the fact that we are still talking about the line despite the fact that the story hasn't been updated in around a year is a good sign, though -- it shows that there is still potential for the line should it be brought back.

I have seen rumors from a plausible source regarding new lines for 2013. BIONICLE wasn't mentioned. It's possible that the source wouldn't care about BIONICLE returning if they're not a fan, though.

But to be honest, the burden of proof is on the rumor-spreader to provide evidence. We shouldn't have to disprove every rumor that comes along. If there's no evidence, and the source has not established themselves as trustworthy, there's no reason to believe that there's any truth to it.

You say the same thing with the date changed like every other week. No announcement means nothing to talk about. It's not even a feasible amount of time to bring it back.

What kind of rumor? The kind where a credible source has suggested that this will actually happen, or the kind where a few people on the internet really want to convince themselves that Bionicle might come back?

More like the kind where people try to perpetuate it themselves and then end up actually subscribing to the rumor itself anyway.

Sounds like the kind of rumor people start just to take advantage of dedicated BIONICLE fans, not the kind of rumor that has any truth to it. People can make up whatever facts they want if they know there are people who want desperately to believe it.

Not gonna put much stock in anything regarding 2013 sets until I see ones that come from a source that's proven reliable in the past.

Makuta_of_Oz, if it's too good to be true it probably is. While it's certainly possible, don't get your hopes up. the only certain way to bring Bionicle back now is by supporting that Cuusoo project, in my opinion. Sad but true.

Indeed. If my friend's CUUSOO Continuation project is approved, then yes, it will return. If not, we will have to be yonny and patient.

guys, the cuusoo project got smited by the lego staff a few months back, remember?
That one is gone, but a loophole has been found and exploited, and another proposal has been made, one that's doing quite well.http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/8380

I had no idea. supporting!
