Yes there are some places that have marriage laws like that. It's weird.

Meh in my mind 14 is still young, although I do know plenty of people who have had girlfriends.

Well congratulations. Actually, you're still several years older than many of the people I knew who dated. Seriously, it seemed as if everyone I knew had darted at one time or other when they were still in elementary school. I don't get why the archetypal character who couldn't get a date with anyone supposedly represents everyone when from where I stand the majority of the people out there have had a boyfriend/girlfriend. I'm an adult and I still haven't ever gone on a date and probably won't for several years.

But that's off on a tangent. Anyway, I hope you have a fun time with someone who understands you and enjoys your company as much as you enjoy hers.

Can't confirm the existence of such a law, but honestly that would be fine for certain societies. Texas is rural, thus more defense from wldlife is necessary compared to a more urban environment.
