I Want You To Understand Me

Today, we had a big blizzard. My T-Bird was slippin' and slidin' all the way home. But many people here probably don't realize just what it means to live in Minnesota. I recently remembered that somebody had put it into perfect words and I decided to show it to you all so you can know just what the life-style is like in this state of the USA.

60 above zero: Floridians turn on the heat. People in Minnesota plant gardens.

50 above zero: Californians shiver uncontrollably. People in Duluth sunbathe.

40 above zero: Italian & English cars won't start. People in Minnesota drive with the windows down.

32 above zero: Distilled water freezes. The water in Bemidji gets thicker.

20 above zero: Floridians don coats, thermal underwear, gloves, wool hats. People in Minnesota throw on a flannel shirt.

15 above zero: New York landlords finally turn up the heat. People in Minnesota have the last cookout before it gets cold.

Zero: People in Miami all die. Minnesotans close the windows.

10 below zero: Californians fly away to Mexico. People in Minnesota get out their winter coats.

25 below zero: Hollywood disintegrates. The Girl Scouts in Minnesota! are selling cookies door to door.

40 below zero: Washington DC runs out of hot air. People in Minnesota let the dogs sleep indoors.

100 below zero: Santa Claus abandons the North Pole. Minnesotans get upset because they can't start the Mini-Van.

460 below zero: ALL atomic motion stops (absolute zero on the Kelvin scale.) People in Minnesota start saying..."Cold 'nuff fer ya?"

BEMIDJI

Yeah, Minnesota and its -50 weather. And playing golf on top of lake Bemidji all the way over to the state park. Love love love! :D

Let me hear you talk some more, I haven't been to Bemidji in years... D:

Meh, I live in Florida, but I live by the Minnesota standards

What do you mean by "Mennesota standards"? Dude, if you don't live in Minnesota, you've got NO idea what it's like here. :P It's beyond your Floridian ability to comprehend.

I remember being in California a couple years ago. I was wearing a T-shirt. All the Californians had on their winter coats.

Uh, you got your facts way wrong. I live in California and I love cold. :P

Right. And just what do you Californians consider "cold"? 80 degrees? :P

*ahem* I, a Californian, can make note of 30 degree weather, and say "Let's go out for Starbucks Frappuccinos."; being frozen from the outside is far more effective when you're being frozen from the inside as well. :P

I don't know if I belong in California, but I'm here now, so don't assume that those rules are necessarily even close to accurate. :P

10 below zero: Californians fly away to Mexico.

No, I walked outside in a T-Shirt. :P

40 below zero: Washington DC runs out of hot air.

That's ridiculous. It can't happen. :P

People in Minnesota let the dogs sleep indoors.

Shame on you. We always let our dogs sleep indoors. :P

Actually, you might turn into a Bose-Einstein condensate... :P

No habla ingles.

While on some days I feel I'd go outside in the snow wearing an undershirt and bermuda shorts, it drops to no lower than a good 30 degrees in the winter. And that's on a warmer day!

It was so cold this winter, the lake near my house froze. This is a rarity, lo and behold.

So, Takuma, would you say you consider yourself more cold-resistant than me?

Eh, no. I'm actually not like most Minnesotans. I like it a little warmer. I still love Minnesota though.

I was born in the good ol Minnesota, and I miss it. My standards are considered warped minnesotan, then. I think.

I knew there was some reason you were so cool!

I live in Hawaii. How do you think we would survive? :P

You wouldn't.

I'm in Canada. :)

How do you think we'd survive?

That depends on if it was northern or southern Canada. Minnesota borders Canada.

Wow. You live in Texas or something?

...

Did you ever say where you lived? I thought you might have at one point, but I don't remember...

Ooh. . . So close! For your first hint, you can tell the inhabitants from the tourists. . . the TOURISTS are the ones dressed like cowboys.

For your second, it's in a content block my blog. That's as specific as I'll ever get.

I fail to understand your logic; last I checked, people living in hot places liked cold, and vice-versa. :P

And it's hard for me not to enjoy the few times it's 30 degrees and raining here, when it's 120 or higher almost every day in the summer.

But I could just be weird. After all, people tend to give me strange looks as I carry a giant fan around everywhere I go during the winter. :P

I live in Oregon. I don't think it's unusually cold, but it's said that it rains a lot more here. I wouldn't know because I've lived here for most of my life. And the rest was in southern Washington. :P
